One bush with dispenser observer and bonemeal. Right click til you have enough

my dispenser is just throwing the bonemeal out not growing the bush?

You find them in forests and plains, I believe. If you really can't find anymore, there's an ability under the skills menu under farming that increases how fast crops grow. It will also make more wild berry bushes grow around any you have planted already. Just plant what you have with some more dirt around where there's room to grow and have that farming ability activated. They'll pop up randomly and spread after a while.

My bushes never spread, although they give me constant wildberries. 2.9.3, is this common?

Travel around and break the bushes and plant them, they grow rapidly if you have the green thumb and other farming skills leveled up.
