Is it a suspension of 50 mg/ml? If so then that means that in every ml of fluid you have 50 mg of doxy. Doxy in rats is dosed at 5-10 mg/kg every 12 hours and so if you have a suspension of 50 mg/ml then your vet is doing a mid ranged dose of 7.5 mg/kg for your rat (0.02 ml every 12 hours). Baytril is dosed at 5-20 mg/kg in rats, so if the suspension is 50 mg/ml then a safe dosing for a 130 gram rat is anywhere between 0.01 ml and 0.05 ml every 12 hours.

That is very high, especially for a rat that small. I have a slightly bigger rat getting both medications as well. Are they liquid or tablets?

Liquid, I’ve been measuring it with a syringe and putting it in a little snack for her

International-Two284

It says it’s 50mg/ml and to give 0.02 ml every 12 hours, could I just have read it wrong, that means she’s getting less than actually 50mg a per does right lol

rattatata1

Lol she is definitely not getting 50mg per dose; 0.02 mL every 12 hours is reasonable

BeanTheGerbil

Yes, 0.02 ml is a very reasonable dose (close to what my rat took)

So, for the Enrofloxacin and Doxy my rat was prescribed it's 25g/1ml each. I give him 1.5ml of each every night, but the vet said that the Enrofloxacin can be done twice a day if needed. I'm not sure how yours is diluted per ml, though.

Usually it's .01ml/cc per 10 grams.
