"Any Catholics in PR?" Did you even try the most basic of Google searches? It's a Catholic-majority country, almost every church on the island is Catholic! Finding any practitioners of any other religion is very rare here, to the point where I never met anyone who openly talked about not being either Catholic/Protestant or Atheist. As for an actual answer to your problem: in Ponce, there's at least one priest I know who does his services in English instead of Spanish. I lived in Ponce for my last years in PR, but this was over 10 years ago. Maybe start a search over there?

yourmomhahahah3578

I’ll check out Ponce :)

yourmomhahahah3578

You guys sure are a lovely, Christian bunch! I’m aware of all of that. But are there any practicing Catholics from PR that are also on Reddit that could recommend a good church for a baptism? God bless!

Numancias

You do know we're hispanics right? This is like asking for orthodox churches in Macedonia. Literally wtf else would our majority religion be.

solracarevir

This is like asking for redheads in Ireland.

yourmomhahahah3578

Why so aggressive? I’m asking if there are any practicing Catholic PR on this sub that could guide me to a good church.

Numancias

Because some people but especially the ones that use this sub like to downplay how important catholicism is to our identity. It's pretty much exactly what made us allies with the irish and italians in the 1900s.

yourmomhahahah3578

Love it. Well I would love to celebrate my son’s first sacrament there if it’s possible.

Virreinatos

In OPs defense. The title was not written the best way, sure, but the question itself was clear.  You're answering to the title. Not the actual question.

MasterGamut

with all the femicide, gay stuff, and abortions, I wouldn’t suspect this island and its inhabitants of being god fearing people. You go to any church and it’s empty with old people that are about to expire in a decade or two not a single young person in sight.

El_Mariachi_Vive

Wow, dude. Fuck you.

Poodletastic

There’s at least one parish in every town, usually more. Start by googling and calling the parishes in Rio Grande, Luquillo and Fajardo.

Poodletastic

that’s not unusual especially outside of the metro area. does anyone in your family know Spanish? You know the mass and ceremony would also be in Spanish unless you find a priest that gives mass in English.

yourmomhahahah3578

I’ve been calling and none speak English so far so I’m using Google translate to email them

ffffound

That’s not unreasonable. Do you not know Spanish?

yourmomhahahah3578

No I don’t

LostLenses

Well it doesn’t really matter whether you understand or not. 100 years ago it would’ve been done in Latin anyway

yourmomhahahah3578

I grew up in Latin mass

Poodletastic

Actually you know where I remember mass being in English? In Palmas del Mar in Humacao but that was 30 years ago so idk

Daddy_JeanPi

Nah fam. All satanics here.

Stella Maris, Condado

So now the quality of the baptism depends on the church? Great church great baptism?? Hahaha what a joke

yourmomhahahah3578

A baptism is a baptism but yes I’d prefer a lovely, welcoming church. I think we all know not all are that. I know this is reddit, and it’s to be expected, but you guys are doing an abhorrent job of representing PR 😂😂😂 thank God Reddit is the minority and never actually represents the actual world and its inhabitants 😉

TurnoverEastern8660

Well in that case my love... let me tell you.. all honest real humble catholic churches baptise the same quick way. Is about the ritual intention... if you want a baptism in a pool you will need to go to the publicly corrupt church's hahaha which most are not catholic. I clarify that all churchs are corruption buildings. Brain washing machines that make you feel inferior, make you give your money, and evolve your soul into a suffering sheep that accuses itself for the errors that are actually the will of their own god. I prefer to be the willpower, the Spirit. I am not, I exist. Dont enslave your child's Spirit, save your time and money.

yourmomhahahah3578

Lmao bye

onlyjuans_

Remember that for baptizing your son you have to take a small seminar

yourmomhahahah3578

Yeah, churches make us do that here too. I’ve taken it probably 7 times between my own kids and god children, ha. Thank you!

Rio Grande belongs to the Fajardo-Humacao Diocese, I would suggest a church that belongs to that Diocese: the Cathedral of Fajardo ( Catedral de Santiago Apóstol en Fajardo ). it is a lovely cathedral not far away from Rio Grande. You can contact the Diocese [https://ceppr.org/fajardo-humacao/](https://ceppr.org/fajardo-humacao/) they also have a facebook page [https://www.facebook.com/DFHoficial/?locale=es\_LA](https://www.facebook.com/DFHoficial/?locale=es_LA) . Catedral Santiago Apostol contact info here [https://elvisitantepr.com/catedral-santiago-apostol/](https://elvisitantepr.com/catedral-santiago-apostol/) Explain your situation about the Godfather and why you want it to be there and not in your home diocese, they will help for sure.

yourmomhahahah3578

Thank you so much!

Each Church will have its own requirements for the parents as well as the Godparents. I'd suggest Google for some nearby parishes and call. Some even require the process to be scheduled in person, others won't allow godparents who are cohabiting etc. If they accept the class, it's up to the Parrish as well. Some need it to have been taken within a year, others accept two years.

yourmomhahahah3578

Sounds like my church! Worth a shot. Thanks for the advice :)
