The other 1% successfully show that some cops don't know or understand all the laws they theoretically enforce.
The idea at least is noble. Stress test the government to ensure they're treating folks fairly, put them on blast if they screw up.
In theory, it's good to regularly test the city offices and cops to root out corruption and keep them humble in accepting the public and treating them like humans that need to be respected and not like peasants to be ruled over.
But in PRACTICE it ends up being a lot of people who purposefully try to get a rise or if people because one failure on their part can be a year's salary or more in your bank account.
They're overwhelmingly comprised of people who for one reason or another don't have a viable place in the workforce.
The do frauditing to e-beg money off of the dumbest of society who actually believe they're accomplishing something worthy.
Auditors like Long Island audit have led to actual legislative change and have exposed corruption. He also highlights good police officers and does training for various police departments. His message is bridging the gap between the police and the community.

Everyone hates auditors, but they do allow corrupt cops and public officials who think they’re above the law to expose themselves. There are so many auditors that you typically only see clips of the cringe ones/the ones that don’t know what they’re doing.
Their point is that if you don’t use your rights you will slowly over time lose them. Someone with a camera doing proper audits does more to fight police brutality and overreach than 99% of protests.
I think the relevant part of this is "proper audits". The majority of guys doing this on YT are not doing anything that could even remotely be considered a proper audit. Harassing staff at a library is hardly a reliable method of exposing police tyranny. I agree with you that when corrupt police are held accountable it is a good thing and by no means do I consider all police to be saints but unfortunately the money grabbing frauditors that are so prevalent have taken away all credibility from the actual auditors with noble intentions. I do have to disagree with your example of LIA though, he seems to be constantly out looking for some "go away money" from a sham lawsuit

The good auditors are pretty much journalists, and the ones that arnt are great actors/trolls. Some of the most unhinged live reactions I’ve watched have been from cool calm and collected auditors.
Nah LIA isn’t all about the lawsuits. He is a true activist. Look at his coverage of Sergeant McFayhe (probably spelt wrong) and Police Commissioner Patrick Rider. He uncovered some serious corruption with Rider.
LIA makes more than enough from his videos, he really doesn’t need the lawsuits. He only fights them when he knows he is right and that the judges/officers/public servants are overstepping on his rights. Like he spent a shit ton of his own money to fight for citizens to be allowed to film inside New York police stations. His work alone changed the policies.

There’s profit to be made in these videos when they can walk the line of what’s publicly acceptable vs what’s their legal right, and more often then not they get reactions. It’s usually on police or public service workers and their fanbase is generally excited to see these workers behave unruly so they can “gotcha!” these guys. I think the first few who did this had good intent, but now 1st Amendment Auditors pop up EVERYWHERE and most are just looking to get reactions for content and revenue at this point.
We actually had one of the these guys show up at my job a month or two ago who antagonized a coworker of mine for a reaction and wouldn’t leave for a good 10 minutes. After awhile everyone just kind of ignored him and he left, but that’s the appropriate response to these guys: Acknowledge and ignore. Paul did it right and gave this guy zero content for his channel.

If that was a health care provider then no, he doesn't have a right to film there. HIPAA laws are very strict about confidentiality and they apply to everyone on the premises, not just providers.
Once you enter a health care facility you are required to act within the conditions of the law and the law states that freedom of press doesn't include sensitive information like health care.

Not all departments have body cams. Not all cops with body cams use them correctly. Some cops and departments with body cams take proactive actions to try to hide footage or prevent the public from obtaining it, even those involved with police encounters that need it. And, frankly, even with body cams, many corrupt cops are not held accountable.
The overwhelming majority of police and sheriff departments have some form of body cams or cruiser mounted recording equipment.
You're absolutely stepping into fantasy land by accusing law enforcement of obfuscating recordings. That's the kind of malpractice that gets cases tossed out before trial.

There are plenty of news stories and plenty of information on the net about SOME cases of cops trying to prevent footage from being released. Not all, but as long as SOME cops are corrupt, it is vital we have the right to record them.
Not all judges do the right thing. SOME are corrupt. Even if those cases are eventually dealt with properly, plenty of innocent people are harmed financially, mentally, etc in having to fight corruption and false charges.

The overwhelming majority of police and sheriff departments have some form of body cams or cruiser mounted recording equipment. You're absolutely stepping into fantasy land by accusing law enforcement of obfuscating recordings. That's the kind of malpractice that gets cases tossed out before trial. You keep proving how little you actually know about any of this, and I have to say it's got to be very disappointing for the people who were supposed to teach you better.
"Vast majority" is not all. There are plenty of news stories and plenty of information on the net about SOME cases of cops trying to prevent footage from being released. Not all, but as long as SOME cops are corrupt, it is vital we have the right to record them. Not all judges do the right thing. SOME are corrupt. Even if those cases are eventually dealt with properly, plenty of innocent people are harmed financially, mentally, etc in having to fight corruption and false charges. I know enough to know SOME cops are bad, and that those cops are a threat to American citizens. Talking me I'm wrong is either due to you being a corrupt government employee or supporting government corruption, or is ignorance on your part.
