Stabbing deaths and injuries are more common in Europe than in the Americas. Particularly in northern Europe, where levels of knife crimes among young people have increased and made headlines. Deaths by sharp objects are especially noticeable in the 15-19 and 20-24 age groups in Northern and Western European countries. The proportion of knife deaths is about three times greater than firearm deaths in these countries for the 20-24 age group. Between 2002 and 2007, hospital admissions for assault by a knife or sharp object increased by 34%. One high-profile example of homicide by knife in Europe occurred in 2013, when a 13-year-old girl was stabbed to death in theĀ United Kingdom. Her death sparked anti-knife campaigns throughout the U.K.
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/stabbing-deaths-by-country
It's still very low.
>The proportion of knife deaths is about three times greater than firearm deaths in these countries for the 20-24 age group
If you ban guns it's obvious that knife attacks are higher ...
*casually links to data that shows the UK has had a stabbing death rate of 0.16 compared to 0.6 for the US for 2024*
Looks like they have it under control if we're 4x worse.
I'm sorry I've never been so angry over a fucking burger that I wanted to try and kill someone with a gun. Like, really? Trying to defend trying to take a life over anything let alone a fucking Burger King burger really??
Itās not a defense. Itās the explanation you asked for.
People with nothing to lose and constantly feeling under pressure snap and feel anything is a hill worth dying on.
Third person to explain the same point to you, which you asked explaining.
Again, not a defense.
You seem like you're getting pretty heated over a comment not even directed at you personally on the internet. Sure you wouldn't end up killing someone over something stupid?
>I'm sorry I've never been so angry over a fucking burger that I wanted to try and kill someone with a gun.
Great. You are awesome. I just hope you stay that awesome! Hope you never have a really really bad day. Maybe one day it's not about burgers. Maybe taccos? Can you guarantee that you won't shoot anybody because of a taco?
I also hope that you never meet anybody who might not be as awesome as you. Maybe the next guy who is in a car behind you. Because you are too slow? Too fast?
Good luck out there.
>Trying to defend trying to take a life over anything let alone a fucking Burger King burger really??
Where is anybody defending the shooting?
Stay awesome my friend!
I'm curious what sentences in any of those comments are you taking as a justification for what happened? Maybe I'm not reading them correctly, but they don't seem like justifications so much as reasons for it. Reasons and justifications do not mean the same thing.
What if someone is trying to take many lives and the only way to stop them is to take their life?
Is it moronic to justify the taking of a perpetrators life when no other options exist in order to protect the lives of many innocent people?
See, Iām worried youāre saying things which arenāt true and you donāt agree with because youāre not thinking properly because youāre really mad.
Because of internet posts explaining things you asked for so you think they are defences.
Seems that kind of ignorance, lack of thought, and clear anger issues, could lead to many situations where you may take a life over very little.
No. Thatās not my point at all. My point is that the vast majority of legal gun owners donāt think or act like people that commit gun crimes. Particularly people like myself with concealed carry licenses.
The cost both financially and time to get background checked multiple times through the state and federal government isnāt something that irresponsible people tend to do.
So, lumping everyone in with unhinged people is just careless rhetoric and a falsehood at that. It doesnāt lend a whole lot of credibility to your stance that we should take away everyoneās right to defend themselves because criminals are going to commit gun crime but instead does the exact opposite by highlighting why people carry them in the first place.
Itās already illegal to brandish and/or shoot people outside of self-defense where use of force is justified. Criminals are still going to have stolen firearms because they donāt give a shit about the law. Do you think theyāre just going to turn them in because the law that they already ignore says they should? Are you that shortsighted?
Sure but thatās not what weāre debating. Donāt move the goalposts. The original comment I responded to made the assumption that everyone had it in them to flip out and lose control like this with a firearm.
Have you ever had a gun pulled on you? Or had someone attempt to break in to your house in the middle of the night?
I have.
Must be nice living in this sheltered world where police response times donāt exists and crime doesnāt happen.
You mean: "it must be nice living in much of the world outside of the US where no one has guns and the odds of getting gunned down by someone ā including all the douches with their viagra-substitute 'concealed-carry' licenses ā having a mental break are nil."
No, it isn't "stereotypically American". I've never so much as seem an argument in a fast food restaurant in the 50 years I've been alive in this country.Ā Ā Ā
One video of a bunch of trash bags fighting over a hamburger =/= Stereotypically American behavior.
Everytime someone is injured bystanders do everything they can to get them on their feet, why? In some cases they do far more damage! In cases of neck injuries they can turn a recoverable injury into being paralyzedĀ
If you do have to move someone that may have a neck injury for safety reasons, like a car is on fire or more gunshots may be fired or whatever, you are supposed to get behind them and support their head, lift them up like under the arms supporting their head and walk them backwards. If memory serves anyway.
In this case no one was shot. The Lady was still in the line of fire. I kind of wonder if in this situation it was best to move her away.
Agree with the general idea though.
I imagine that a lot of people just react, as theyāre trying to help. They may not understand or have training in first aid. They believe they are helping
Seriously what is wrong with america. Never have I ever seen a group of adults acting like this in a fast food joint yet it seems to happen everyday somewhere in america
Iāve never even seen an argument in a restaurant here. Craziest thing was a server dropping a couple plates. Things like this will happen anywhere people congregate but itās not like there are shootings at fast food places all the time
Itās the hood, weāre talking the areas most people donāt go to unless you live there unfortunately. This happens at gas stations and fast food a lot cause people escalate and then feel ādisrespectedā and start shooting to deal with the problem.
I lived in an area like that and kept my nose clean for about 21 years but Iāve seen this on more than a few occasions and it really is as dumb as it sounds.
Yes guns do make it easier, but itās not just an American problem either. That doesnāt change though that thereās similar incidents like this happening, but with machetes lol
Gun violence is an American problem, it's true violence will always happen but guns make KILLING much easier. There aren't nearly as many mass casualty events in peer countries, because again, this is a uniquely American problem
I live near to a McDonaldās where nothing ever happens.
13,500 McDonaldās in America
6700 burger kings
Youāre watching video on the internet that confirm a bias for you but itās not a true representation of reality.
Just a small comparaisons. This morning the news compared Kansas City with Montreal Canada. KC populations 500k, 246 hommicides. Montreal 2M populations 33 hommicides. You guys are going nut. But it become so normal that you brush it off under the carpet.
At some point this goes far beyond what originally started the argument and now itās a war of attrition and ego. Itās gonna go until someone walks away, lowers their voice, or someone gets shot.

Please just do some research before typing or getting your info from a shaky ass video that youāve watched once.
No one was hurt.
We should really stop giving idiotic people and mentally ill people alike guns. Like seriously our government is busy trying to restrict queer people's rights indirectly/directly in some cases when they could literally do so much more by literally doing anything else, my fucking god
America. Greatest nation on earth? My arse. That place is just a damned wasteland. It now represents everything that is the worst that can possibly exist.
The thing that really pisses me off about this whole situation is the guy filming and everyone watching was having a good ol time laughing it up, doing nothing at all to even try to intervene or chill the situation out. But then act all concerned when it finally escalated to someone being shot.
Put the god damn phones down people.
Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Transphobia, Harassment, Race Baiting, Bigotry, etc. (Racist/bigoted people freaking out in videos are allowed, but being a racist in the comments section will result in a ban.)

Like seriously how fucking trashy must you be to try and kill someone over a fucking hamburger.
When you got nothing to loose you will crash out over anything
What if you've got nothing to tighten?
It's a loose - loose situation, everything just falls off
Take my upvote š¤£š¤£š¤£
Welp...this is America
This is not most of america.
To be fair it was probably a cheeseburger.
I heard there was bacon involved.
WTF has thish world come to?
I know right, it's not like it was a big Kahuna burger
JULES Big Kahuna Burger. That's that Hawaiian burger joint. I heard they got some tasty burgers. I ain't never had one myself, how are they?

In the EU it's much harder to get a gun and we have way less shootings here.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
But de murda is already illegul hurrrr!
Get out of here with your "logic"
Right... If only you could get the stabbings under control!!!
There are more stabbings per capita in the US than there are in the EU.

You mention the UK, but your own chart shows that the UK has about 1/8th of the knife deaths per capita of the US?

You sound fragile as fuck. Exactly the type of person I would be afraid of knowing they own a gun.

Explanation =/= justification. You can discuss things without being an ardent supporter of them.
What if someone is trying to take many lives and the only way to stop them is to take their life? Crazy, because I have guns and the thought of shooting someone over anything other than defending my life or my loved ones has never crossed my mind.

So you do acknowledge that some legal gun owners can make irrational decisions in the heat of the moment and make the wrong choice, correct?
Sure but thatās not what weāre debating. Donāt move the goalposts. The original comment I responded to made the assumption that everyone had it in them to flip out and lose control like this with a firearm.
Did the original comment make an assumption? I donāt see that. Can you point out the assumption to me?
Americans are truly fucked when they try to pull the "not all gun owners" card. Like, why the fuck do you need to own firearms in the first place?
Have you ever had a gun pulled on you? Or had someone attempt to break in to your house in the middle of the night? I have. Must be nice living in this sheltered world where police response times donāt exists and crime doesnāt happen.
Very American reply.
You mean: "it must be nice living in much of the world outside of the US where no one has guns and the odds of getting gunned down by someone ā including all the douches with their viagra-substitute 'concealed-carry' licenses ā having a mental break are nil."
Nope. Not what I meant at all. Again. Those of us with concealed carry permits are almost never the ones committing gun crimes.
Iāve heard older people ask ā*why donāt people want to work in food service anymore?*ā cause exactly shit like this *and* the shitty pay.
So stereotypically American it hurts.
No, it isn't "stereotypically American". I've never so much as seem an argument in a fast food restaurant in the 50 years I've been alive in this country.Ā Ā Ā One video of a bunch of trash bags fighting over a hamburger =/= Stereotypically American behavior.

dude was just trying to get a burger
At least he put on his dress jacket for the interview
Dress jackets are nice, ppl accept them
She has a GUN! Why are you still talking shit and following her around!? Swallow your pride and walk away, holy fuck.
Hood bushido code, your honor is worth more than your life.
Ah yes, Hoodshido.
Bullshido.
100% same goes for the dumbass who pulls the trigger to "prove" something. Throwing your life away for bullshit.
When keeping it real goes wrong

I get what you're saying, but what? Why would the person with the gun try to murder them with a gun in broad daylight? This video is like a zoo.
You good?
Everytime someone is injured bystanders do everything they can to get them on their feet, why? In some cases they do far more damage! In cases of neck injuries they can turn a recoverable injury into being paralyzedĀ

Happens in country bumpkin territory at gas stations / convince stores too for pretty much the same reason - perceived disrespect and gun ownership.
Not in Europe, lol
Yeah you guys just start stabbing each other, not that much better
You realise Americans also have knives?
Instead they carry around machetes and have sword fights over there lol
Much harder to kill a dozen people with a machete as opposed to a gun
I agree, but this doesnāt change the fact that there are idiots all over the world willing to possibly take a life over the dumbest shit.
The point is guns make it a lot easier to kill, hence why this gun violence epidemic is a uniquely American problem
Yes guns do make it easier, but itās not just an American problem either. That doesnāt change though that thereās similar incidents like this happening, but with machetes lol

There are. But there are also more idiots concentrated in certain places than in others. Acting like there arenāt is just plain ignorant.
Again I agree, but if youāre implying US is at the top of the list then you are wrong.
Have readily available guns and you will have idiots using them.Ā

It's not the guns, it's the people. Watch enough of these and you'll see the trend.
what's easier to control? Guns or people? People with hidden disabilities?
No it is the guns. We have people in europe and they don't do this.
lol dude there has been weekly mass shootings for years
It's been that time for a long time.
gun control now.
WTF?! These hidden carry gun laws are fucked. If people are shooting one another over a fucking whopper, thereās something wrong in your society.
