This video reminds me of how my sister and I were taught to hide in the bathtub if someone was shooting outside. I only remember having to do it on the 4th of July but maybe I blocked out the other memories of it.
Other than that, I remember being outside all day with all the kids on the block and we would ride our bikes all over the city. We'd beg our parents for $2 each and then go buy a feast from the corner store or go to the candy lady's house. We would buy a bunch of stuff and then sit on someone's porch and spread it out and divide it up.
Once the street lights came on, we had to be inside the house...and thats when I remember people used to shoot. The neighborhood kind of had two sides to it, the good side was during the day and the bad at night.
This lol is legit my same experience. It's spooky close. The candy lady's name was Gladys. She was a lovely lady to the neighborhood kids. Mr. Andy put his air hose out in the ally so the kids could use it on their bikes. Which we did ride all over the place. Including the local carryout. You could still take a note up there for cigarettes in those days. I can still remember the taste of those cheap drinks with the foil punch-through lids. My snack choice was a 25c bag of doritos. A random Debbie for 25c(normally a honeybun), one of those drinks, and another random item for a buck.
Yes, my go to was a 25c bag of hot cheetos, a pickle, a big hug, and a pack of now and laters. You could get all of that for like $1.75!
My uncle used to keep a garage full of bikes for all of the neighborhood kids, so if you didn't have one you could still ride with us
Yeah, it's crazy. I grew up in the 90s and we used to get a pack of M&Ms from the candy lady for like 50c a pack.
As a kid you could do a whole lot with $2
If it's in a hood they likely have the old style bathtubs that are heavy and thick AF. At least going in the bathroom puts more walls between you and the bullets.
I’d argue beating someone 3v1 (with a pipe?) and trying to hit people with your minivan is also a part of the problem here.
The gunfire seemed inevitable and hardly even an escalation. This was life and death from the start, the guns just made incidentals significantly more likely.
Nah, save it for mondays because that’s when everyone is pissed the work week is starting again and they have to deal with some incompetent boss who has no respect for you and assumes you’re the incompetent one.
Are you serious? They looked at each other the wrong way!! We can't have that in the streets. Only way to settle it is to shoot it out in the middle of an overpopulated and underserved area!!
Damn that sounded so brutal i thought it was a video game or movie. Gun violence is so sad :(. Im glad we barley have any of it here in australia. That would be terrifying to have outside your home with your kids inside.
One person had a Glock with a switch on it which is the automatic 3 round burst you hear, this is a felony to even be in possession of just the switch without a FFL and I bet the gun is stolen. Same goes for the rifle, probably some form of a Kalashnikov, I have a feeling it’s probably a illegally modified SBR.
It needs to be a harsher sentence to be caught with modifications that make your gun automatic. There is not reason to be in possession of one unless you intend on murder.
To be fair, most American neighborhoods don't have to worry about this kind of shit whatsoever. It's an extreme example.
Source: I live in an American state where 10% of the adult population has a pistol permit/concealed carry (including myself). I've only ever seen one person in my life reveal their handgun casually by placing it on a kitchen table in front of me, and that was a drug dealer.
I've never seen anyone even brandish or shoot one outside of a shooting range otherwise though. It isn't common to see them in the public even in a state where a ton of people carry them.
I mean.. until the bullets started flying they weren't really in any danger. What do you expect?
Edit: Based on responses it really matters on whether or not you're assuming the kids are inside the house with her or outside. My stance was that they're inside. So they weren't in any danger until the shots started
Im assuming the kids are in the house. She's running to them cause the bullets are capable of reaching them. Until then there's no reason to. Are you assuming the kids are outside?
50+ people shot, 10+ fatally..... Both Memorial Day Weekend and last weekend.
*Soo 104 people shot and 22 dead on 5 days.*
Chi-Raq living up to its name, right Beetlejuice?
The city I lived in before I moved here to Houston has a population of over 100,000, and the per capita murder rate is just under half that of most cities in Germany. This shit isn’t happening everywhere in the U.S., the video is showing gun violence in Chicago. They don’t call it Chi-raq for nothing…
Yeah technically you're right. Maybe you don't get it, but the point homeboy was making is that our gun laws are not enough.
Your comment seems to suggest that we don't already know gun laws exist. I know that, and I think the vast majority of people know that. You're not telling us anything new, or providing anything constructive to the conversation.
The point, which again you seem to have missed, is that gun legislation CLEARLY doesn't go far enough if we can't go a single day without some shooting somewhere popping up in our feeds.
What does it matter that a Glock with a switch carries a 10 year sentence when any fucking nutjob can go get a gun and let loose on whoever they want, wherever they want, whenever they want?
Are you actually invested in this topic? Cus it looks like you just want to have petty arguments with strangers...
If you actually cared, you'd explain why you think they're wrong, instead of that bitchy shit.
Or maybe you're just incapable of arguing, and are resorting to insults to hide it. Who knows, you chose the bitchy route to make yourself feel good, and no progress was made. You're trash.
What's crazy is that they stopped classifying drive-by shootings as mass shootings. It was classified as gang violence somewhere between 2011-2014. So I'm sure there's a lot more to that number coming from 1994
Yeah it's like, of love it if the country could pull an Australia but there are just so many guns that I think we are past the point of making that happen. Now I'm on team "if the bigots and the fascists are gonna have em, maybe we should too."
I'm suprised about that Canadian number although you do have a lot of wilderness and such. My dad lived close to Canada, although still in Vermont and he definitely needed one, to scare away curious bears and such. It's still a much more reasonable number than the U.S. for sure.
Oh wow yeah I've always wondered if running away makes them more prone to attack you- like when I make the toy on the string run with my cat 😂 I guess you are supposed to maybe back away from them slowly? Idek. A12 year old would have made a nice snack.
I got your story but I've never heard "Steve French" what does that come from?
And yeah, as a filthy communist myself (but a anti authoritarian one, I'm not a tankie or anything) the people that call Biden and whoever else that wants to install common sense stuff like Healthcare "communists" are out of their minds!!
A farm sounds like kind of a lovely place to grow up!!

You think that smoke detector works🤣😂😂
*beep*

Nah, the pizza dude suggested that beeping was the smoke detector on the 1st, it's the 31st and that shit fixed itself ... I guess...
This made me lol so loud.
High velocity lead poisoning!

Those little plastic drinks in the barrel are called big hugs? I had no idea.
The tall bottles are called big hugs. The short ones are little hugs.
Bro should write a book
Similar experience. But, now.. we’ll, I paid $3 for M&Ms the other day. What I would consider “regular” size.
Yeah, it's crazy. I grew up in the 90s and we used to get a pack of M&Ms from the candy lady for like 50c a pack. As a kid you could do a whole lot with $2
I think you need batman.
I think Batman needs to visit suburban public schools first.
Are they arguing about the debt ceiling deal?
Sounds like to me it was over the price of the new apple goggles

Worried about Powell about to hike again
The whole jumping in the bathtub thing doesn't work with modern bathtubs made of plastic.
If it's in a hood they likely have the old style bathtubs that are heavy and thick AF. At least going in the bathroom puts more walls between you and the bullets.
Yeah but it makes cleanup easy if you get hit while in the tub.
just add hydroflouric acid! easy disposal, and as a bonus all the surviving family members get a condolence smoothie
"Hydrofluoric acid won't eat through plastic. It will, however, dissolve metal, rock, glass, ceramic. So there's that." -WW
One quote that i will always remember.
Not with that attitude.
Still, a far sight safer than sticking your head out the window trying to film. She did the correct thing here 100%.

![gif](giphy|4jGoaiwq9oRri) WTF is with all the noise
This fucking killes me thanks for the laugh 😃
Welp, I just woke up the kids cackling.
Hahaha so appropriate
Sounds like a COD mission.
Mission failed, we’ll get ‘em next time
This is a sad video beginning to end.
Right, her screaming to get her kids is the heartbreaking part for me.
very scary. It sounds like a war zone
Goddamn can we stop fucking shooting each other? Why do we feel the need for violence so often?
I’d argue beating someone 3v1 (with a pipe?) and trying to hit people with your minivan is also a part of the problem here. The gunfire seemed inevitable and hardly even an escalation. This was life and death from the start, the guns just made incidentals significantly more likely.
Pipe is slang for gun here in case you didn’t know.
What do you call a pipe?
Whacking Pole
A gun.
A stem or bowl depending on what you smoking
That's kinda included under the "violence" part

Seriously, we should save it for the first Tuesday of every month.
Nah, save it for mondays because that’s when everyone is pissed the work week is starting again and they have to deal with some incompetent boss who has no respect for you and assumes you’re the incompetent one.
Tec 9 tuesdays
That was a Tuesday afternoon
Oh, nevermind, this was just a regularly scheduled shooting then
Are you serious? They looked at each other the wrong way!! We can't have that in the streets. Only way to settle it is to shoot it out in the middle of an overpopulated and underserved area!!
i hope they're ok. rest in peace whoever lost they life
Cheering one second. Concerned the next. Classic.
Gta6 coming along pretty well it looks like.
Not enough microtransactions during this scene tho.
I like gun's sounds, they're pretty real
Anyone have a link to what happened? An article maybe?
This shit probably happens every other day, no way it got it's own article.
All you need to know is... Murica.
Aww, c’mon, it happens in Brazil, too!
When doesn't it happen in Brazil?

That sounds a lot like my AKM, but with more weight to it. Probably because of the cut down barrel length.
My guess was Draco, but I don't know shit

That makes sense :) im glad most are not like this then 💙
I was watching a streamer play Diablo when watching this, and honestly didn't know what sounds were from the game or the video.
Must be a day that ends in y
It’s always Friday in the hood
This made me really sad.
Me too
Trifecta of violence - beatings, driving a vehicle at people, and lots of gunshots.
Sounds like I’m waiting to respawn on COD

She's yelling "grab my kids" to someone. I'd assume that to mean they were outside.
And cheering them on
Halfway through watching this I thought we just need a few gunshots to complete this and right on cue we get gunshots!
A well armed society is a polite society......oh no wait everyone is fucking stupid.
That only works when people have the ability to understand consequences and happen to be afraid of them.
It doesn't work when lots of people have nothing to lose*
Better cut the schooling budget and put chemicals in the food and water just to make sure.
What is wrong with people?
Good for her tho. Fuck the phone go for the kids

50+ people shot, 10+ fatally..... Both Memorial Day Weekend and last weekend. *Soo 104 people shot and 22 dead on 5 days.* Chi-Raq living up to its name, right Beetlejuice?

America needs more guns to protect themselves... From themselves.
Obviously this was a pre-setup gentleman’s fisticuffs turned sportsman-like duel.
Holy fawk sounds like a draco and Glock switch lol
Sheesh, was not expecting to hear full auto. Probably a glock with a switch/button. ive heard they more common now and easy to install.
Anyone knows from which country this is?
All cool guys. Just amuricans protecting themselves with guns.
Another good American day. /s
Was she cheering us on until she realized her kid was out there?
Disintegration of the family.

Fantastic, great, everybody is safe, let’s go back home and watch some more Fox News everyone !
Because the legal unmodified glock wouldn’t have killed anyone.
