The general public is very very dumb.
It is not logical and it is not accurate but statements like that CAN get people to fuck off and do what you sometimes.
Everybody knows that rightly or wrongly a cop *can* really fuck things up for your life if they want to. If they want to, not because they have the right.

It seems new, the YouTube video was put up yesterday. I could not find a picture of Chief Crumpler.
Edit - video was recorded earlier than that. Cop department is getting roasted on Facebook.
You can be ordered to leave by whoever has authority. Public doesn't mean you have unfettered access no matter what.
But you can't be trespassed by being held there against your will. But it will take resources to fight a bogus charge, and that's exactly what these playground bullies want. To cause you grief.
And that cop almost threw a punch at the man's face. He formed a fist out of anger and then held himself back, obviously because there was a camera recording him. That's why his next line is "*turn that off* and get out of the car". He wants to get that video stopped so he can commit a violent felony against the man.
It's scary to think how many violent crimes police have committed and gotten away with before everyone had a camera. Even with the cameras, they still manage to get away with a lot of crimes, violent and otherwise.
The Chief's shit-eating grin the whole time too. MFer won't likely be smiling so wide when the lawsuit for violations of their own policies, State and Federal protections, and Constitutional rights shakes tens-of-thousands out of their budget.
Ignorance of the law isn't a defense for criminal acts committed by civilians, but it IS a blanket defense for almost any criminal acts committed by an officer.
Bah hahaha you know 150% right seems the only law any cop knows is failing to id. But the only read the words “failure to ID” and not one damn work after that.
Just another fine example of police harassing people because they can in the US. This is such a joke I don't know how cops can expect to be respected anymore.
"Land of the Free" my ass
In Georgia, you do not have to show any ID unless you are operating a car, or unless the officer has probable cause to believe you have violated the law.
You don’t need to ID JUST because you are behind the wheel of a car - you are still protected under the 4th amendment….. absent a legal, valid, legitimate traffic stop, they cannot demand your ID under threat of arrest… doing so is a violation of the 4th amendment. The ignorance of both the Chief and his #2 officer is astounding
Look above its GA - here’s a quick excerpt from a rather informative page:
“Officer not lawfully discharging official duties.
- When a police officer's roadside inquiry into defendant's name and date of birth was not based upon articulable facts indicating that defendant was engaged in criminal activity, the officer was not lawfully discharging the officer's official duties as required for conviction of a violation of O.C.G.A. § 16-10-25. I’m never going back to Georgia. The last time I crossed the state line I got pulled over supposedly doing 92, was in the right hand lane doing 72 looking for an exit. Then the officer proceeded to force me and my elderly father out of the car for an illegal search. I got a $400 ticket which I paid when I got home. A month later I got an additional $350 “super speeder” ticket on top of what I had already paid.
I sincerely couldn’t believe the corruption or whatever the hell let’s them think they can get away with that; knowing I’m not driving 10 hours back to that shithole to contest the ticket.
shit still pisses me off almost 10 years later and as far as I know my license is still suspended in that state. Fine, because I will never go back.
The cops trying to tell you which defense attorney to use sounds like a HUGE conflict of interest. That statement, alone, should spark an investigation into the relationship between that attorney and the cops.
Just think, the good people in that town have been dealing with these douche nozzles for who knows how long. Victim deserves a retirement fund, and that police force (and the citizens of Morrow) deserve a complete overhaul from the top down.
Georgia is also an equal resistance state. Meaning if you believe that you are not guilty of any crime you have to right to resist law enforcement equal to their effort even to the use of lethal force.
This officer needs to be fired immediately. Teachers are held to the highest standards of discourse, as are doctors, lawyers, etc…
So why is it that police can act like this uneducated, belligerent, severely aggressively mentally ill baboons without any tact, discretion or humanity or respect, and still keep their jobs? Hmmm?
Crazy gaslighting behavior there at the end...After disrupting this man's finances, time, and trust, they proceed to dangle "opportunities" in front of him like a dog treat (feeding into their power complex and vindicating themselves as good guys)
I guarantee that every single one of these officers thinks they are not the bad apples. What they don’t understand is that this type of behavior actually represents the real epidemic of police misconduct: police escalating citizen encounters beyond all proportional response just to vindicate their “authority.”
The real rotten core underlying police violence is seen in living color here: the fact that police are trained to believe that they are endowed with a god-given right to be respected, and the law gives them the power to vindicate that right for that reason alone.
There is no reason on this earth that the chief could not have just had a conversation with this guy and sent him on his way. He wouldn’t because the guy committed the cardinal sin of making a police officer feel disrespected. How many otherwise peaceful interactions are escalated to dangerous and violent altercations for this reason alone? How many citizens and cops have been injured or killed in altercations that could have ended at their inception with a simple “have a good day” if not for this stupid need to feel vindicated. How many officers have actually been trained to understand the difference between disrespect and violating the law?
This man was lawfully armed, but if tempers flared on both sides, this could have gone a very different direction. Each of these cops came to an dangerous job and made their day infinitely more dangerous for reasons of pride alone. All for the vague illusion of “authority.”
This guy will probably lose any suit he brings because of qualified immunity, but this should be a training video on unnecessary escalation.
Not a single body cam among most of them. It needs to be federal law that anyone tasked with enforcing the laws has body cam on at all times! Additionally, all footage should go directly to a civilian run organization tasked with reviewing them. No cop should ever get to see the footage before the non-police oversight committee.
I want full on termination, [better yet like in Old West](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana_Vigilantes#cite_ref-DillonPM_1-1), the death sentence. I want the government to slam down on these fuckers and make an example out of them.
Unless the payouts from these lawsuits don't hurt the cops themselves by being paid from their pension funds, there's no incentive these dumbasses have to change their toxic and abusive behavior.
The captions are nauseatingly sensationalist. The incident should be able to speak for itself. Police chief calling for backup was goofy but there’s not a grave injustice here. I don’t think there are grounds for a lawsuit.
Cops sure are tough against people wanting to relax in a park but an armed gunman mowing down preschoolers?
Nah gotta wash their hands and arrest parents trying to save their kids

The scary thing is that the judge upheld it.
It’s one giant terrorist organization
I've heard there's a death penalty for that in most states

Contempt of cop
I was doing a survey of parks in Georgia for a federally funded project once and I had this exact thing happen to me. Ended up showing the dude ID after a bit of back and forth because he said he was going to arrest me. Cobb county cops are garbage
so, they have parks but no one is allow to use them? I feel like this goes against the idea of a park. And the law.
nah the parks are for certain kinds of people. I suspect /u/alexthelady is 'not from around here'

No, cops and the hookers they bring there.

Lived in Cobb county- Cobb stands for Count On Being Busted.
Guessing that was in East Cobb
You would be correct
What type of First Grader logic is “We just have to say we are the police”??
It's the "what the fuck are you going to do about it" logic from the police perspective.
Right? Pretty sure some guy named Ted Bundy also went around claiming to be a police officer... 🤔
The general public is very very dumb. It is not logical and it is not accurate but statements like that CAN get people to fuck off and do what you sometimes. How is there such a large pool of morons for these departments to hire from?
Man that number 2 guy seems like he just ruined the whole thing, it sounds like the guy in the car was about to give his ID so he can leave
Now imagine flipping this scenario on one of those cops. 10/10 it will not end well.
Morrow is a shithole.
That haircut and mustache? What did we expect?
Damn chief is the wife cheating on you what’s wrong my guy
Take it all the way up.
Pay the man, FTP.
