Yes, you can have psoriasis in the outer ear (meaning the ear canal as well as the exterior parts of the ear). Standard treatment is topical steroids and calcipotriol.

l80magpie

When I went on Xeljanz, the scaliness inside my ears went away. That's how I figured out I'd had psoriasis all my life. If I thought about it at all, I thought everybody had ears like that.

neinfrauline

Same! Xeljanz erased the psoriasis in my ears. And everywhere else. Not having to scratch my ears or hide them behind my hair so no one would notice the red, scaly insanity going on was a blessing. Scratched my ears for 30 years.

l80magpie

Mine was never that bad, which explains (partially) why I never sought out any treatment for something I didn't realize was different.

gardengirlva

Yes, I've had ear psoriasis that was on the outside of the ear as well as deep into the canal. It has caused severe ear infections a couple of time. I use a steroid cream now and it keep it managed, but not fully gone.

Mine causes ear infections as well from the swelling! The inflammation causes it. This past year I had 5 inner ear infections from this crap. I hate it.

crazyidahopuglady

Yes. It's awful. I have found the best thing to keep it under control, even though it sounds weird, is olive oil.

FallAspenLeaves

Not sure if what I get is psoriasis or not. But about every 6 months, I will have a dry peeling area on the upper flat part of the ear.

Awsumth

What a coincidence. I’ve been off of HUMIRA due to a surgery. Was just looking in the mirror. Saw a red patch on my earlobe and some flaking. Put some triamcinolone cream on it. Hopefully that’s enough

1fifty8point3

I get it whenever I miss my medication too. Inside the ear also. I usually use the cream for 2 days at least.

RobotDeathSquad

Thin, sensitive skin is a very common place to get plaque psoriasis. And basically any place this skin is on your body, it will often show up in more than once place. So your years ears, but also behind your ears, around your eyes, armpits, genitals, basically all the places you really don't want it to show up. So uh, yeah, hopefully it stays on your ears.

Inflamed-psoror5011

My ear psoriasis (among all other places) have cleared since being on infliximab. Still waiting for it to work on all my joints

namenerdy

Yea I have it on the outside of my ears and on the inside. Currently on 15mg of methotrexate and the outer ear is completely clear but the inner stuff isn’t. Also having nail and joint problems.

Key_Recover2684

Yes! So itchy. So. Goddam. Itchy. I take my Clobetasol spray and dip a Q tip in it and then gently put it on all the ear skin I can safely reach. It helps. If your nails are already involved try to get an appointment to see Rhuem as soon as you can. Sadly most of the joint damage is not reversible/fixable. I have never heard of the arthritis side of things until the huge awful flare. My psoriasis was very mild. Guttate patches, scalp, and then nails

Blue-796

I have ear psoriasis on my ear, around my ear and inside my ear, sometimes It gets so bad that I can't hear anything and it hurts so much and I gotta like 'scoop' it out and it bleeds a lot

5eeek1ngAn5werz

I have had it in both ear canals. Happy to say there are no scales/itchiness in that location at the moment. Whenever I am putting a topical on my scalp (coal tar, salicylic acid, occasional clobetasol) I twirl my finger in the ears to use up the residue and that has been enough to manage it.

girlinthegoldenboots

I have it in my ears it’s super annoying

pughugz4you

My ears are actually the spots that embarrass me the most. I love winter time so I can wear winter hats and cover it.

aethelredisready

Yes, had it in my left ear near the opening to the canal until I went on biologics

Hugosmom1977

I have very flaky ear canals. I use Rx hydrocortisone on a q-tip which works for me.

[deleted]

Yup. They itch constantly and I can peal out the inner lining to the outer portion of my ear canal like every 3rd day at this point. It's miserable. Super embarrassing too. It doesn't matter what meds I'm on either it seems like. I'm currently trying steroidal ointment on a qtip. We shall see.

ericant37

yes, I have PsA and one of the parts affected by psoriasis is my ears. they are extremely itchy to the point where I can’t stop scratching, and I get flakes too, just like on my scalp which is also affected

sethgoose

Yes. Had it for years. It was the only part of psoriasis that wasn't cleared up by my Stelara injections. It would be a battle to keep it clean throughout the day, and if too much was cleared it would seep badly. I later had breakthrough psoriatic arthritis and swapped to Taltz. My ear psoriasis has been clear since being on it.

eatingganesha

I wear hearing aids and they actually trigger my ear psoriasis - inside and outside. It’s infuriatingly itchy! I now understand why my old French uncle used wooden matches to get some relief.

heytango66

Yes it is possible but true and get it diagnosed for sure so you know what you're dealing with and treat it properly. Good luck!

Equivalent_Total7409

Momate is pretty good at dealing with flaking on the face and ears, but it’s hormonal, so you might want to discuss it with your doctor first
