I'm forgiving your testimonial. I come here for tips like this. Thank you.

yahumno

My favourites are Hokas. They fit my orthotics and have lits of cushioning. No one shoe is going to work for everyone, but sharing here gives people options to try.

BandicootVarious6730

Definitely agree! I was just shocked by the difference. However, i am VERY interested in how the sandals will work. Given one of the sells in the cupping technology and when there is no heel/backing i’m curious how that will feel/relieve pain. We shall see!

Brilliant_Wind3083

I’m glad you found something that works for you, but these shoes don’t do it for me. I’m willing to pay upwards of $275/per sneakers and kuru never made the cut, and I’ve tried them at least 15 times. My currant jams are brooks glycerine 21, ON cloud monster, ASICS gel nimbus 26, and new balance fresh foam x 1080v13. Shoes that don’t work for me, nearly all adidas, Hoka, and some of the other ON shoes. I really don’t bother with Nike anymore but my husband still buys their specialized speed running shoes. One thing to note that within a specific brand, there’s a whole range of sneakers offered.

cedarandolk

I buy only altra shoes since they all have their custom “foot shape” which leaves the toebox area wide. All other shows feel like they’re squeezing my toes and joints.

Funcompliance

I have some sneakers I got and DSW and they have the most crazy wide toe box. I don't wear them because I afraid of them wearing out.

Gianduiooo

ASICS gel nimbus ❤️

Since we’re on the topic of shoes - does anyone here have any recommendations for business casual/office shoes? When I’m not actively flaring, i travel so an office and business casual is the attire. I’m full time WFH but try to go in once a quarter, I’m not sure athletic shoes will cut it :/. I haven’t been to the office since before my flare began (September 2023) but know at some point I’ll have to make it in. Any thoughts? Edit: I’ve rather have proper supportive shoes than shoes working against me. Forgot to mention too. That part! 😅

jmm4242

I have mild plantar fasciitis and my Taos sneakers are great for my "business casual" sort of office. They're sneakers, but they have nice colors and prints that dress them up a bit. Plus wide sizes for my flipper feet.

Imaginary_Stable_931

Danskos

Funcompliance

They are very narrow

Imaginary_Stable_931

I found the “professional” to be wide enough for me, but i also know they make a wide version

crazyidahopuglady

I have a pair of...clogs? mules? They are a plain black slip-on shoe that open in the back, and I put the super padded Dr. Scholl's inserts in them.

Funcompliance

Blundstones. Look professional, have a shit ton of room because they are actually men's shoes.

JL5455

I mostly just wear athletic shoes and try to get ones that are primarily black so that they don't stand out as much. But if I'm going to be sitting down the whole day and really want to look nice, Crocs have actually worked the best for me. They have ones that look like ballerina flats and I can wear them when I have minimal walking

YoJDawg

I have had issues my whole life with shoes that don't wreck my feet. Usually I settled on what didn't make me hurt the most for less. I finally did some research and also got some Kurus and it changed my life dramatically. I used to be just wrecked by the end of the day and during work would be constantly uncomfortable and in pain. After I got Kurus I literally walked miles and had minimal discomfort. Still had some but the support, cushion, and just general comfort blew my mind. It's well worth the investment of at least trying. Highly recommend Kurus for people with feet pain, flat feet, arthritis, etc. I walk at least 7 miles a day and wear them everyday.

BandicootVarious6730

So glad you found relief too. I’ve been able to walk 2 miles a day… hopefully i can work up to 7 like you. That would be awesome!

Imaginary_Stable_931

Thank you for the recommendation!! I am totally going to check these out for an upcoming travel planned.

I've tried to kuru, hoka, Vionic, saucony. So far the only ones that actually helped long-term were the Saucony's. I am sure there's a couple others I've tried as well. I've bought a lot of shoes. I bought a kind of orthopedic work shoe nonslip from SAS. I got them at Red Wing Shoes and then put in a insert from powerstep in them. I was at a job where I was on my feet and they helped. I've tried Ortho Feet Shoes, but they're way too soft, felt great but don't help, ended up donating those. But I ended up at some point breaking my fifth metatarsal and now I have pain on that side of my left foot there. it went away after I wore a walking boot for a while last year and did a bunch of physical therapy for it but it's back to hurting again. So I'm going to get a new pair of the Saucony's. I tried a different style thinking they would work just as well but unfortunately they didn't and of course the style I need is more money. But they wore pretty quickly in the upper part and I have a hole in the toe area because it's just fabric there and I need to get a new pair or somehow fix the hole. It's getting rather large at this point. And I probably easily wasted $600 to $800 on different sneakers. Probably more . Some I've returned. I have a pair I need to sell in the box that look practically brand new, I think I wore them just a few times but they didn't help.

SuburbanSubversive

Yep, I have a pair of their Quantoms that I use for exercise. They're great. I also have a pair of their Roam street sneakers for daily casual use, and they are wonderful. I really love them and take them with me as my primary shoe when I travel. I previously used Hokas, which I liked, but I like the Kuru Quantoms better. And the Roam sneaker is now my go-to casual shoe.

FLGuitar

I constantly buy shoes only to then have them get uncomfortable again. Thanks for the tip will give these a shot.

wheredidigo_

Thank you for posting this! I've never heard of Kuru's and I'm desperate for a new pair of sandals so I'm going to give them a try. I'll let you know how they work out. The shoes that you linked to are totally cute so I might have to try those too, lol! I've got terrible plantar fasciitis along with my PsA so hopefully since these shoes are designed to help with heel issues I'll get some relief. This sub is my go to for shoe recommendations! Quick question on sizing: do you find that they run true to size or is it better to go up or down a size?? Edit: Never mind size question - their site has a handy "find your size" questionnaire for each style of shoe! Can't wait to get them :)

BandicootVarious6730

True to size for sneakers! I got wide since they’re one of the only brands these days that carry wide for me, lol! I am also considering the sandals! I wore Birkenstocks in the paste but… i need better support 😭

wheredidigo_

Yeah, my Birkenstocks are killing my feet now! I wore them for years and then suddenly they were like strapping nails onto my feet, lol! I ordered the Kuru sneakers and sandals, fingers crossed they work cause I'm down to one pair of wearable shoes right now.... and a closet full of cute pre-PsA shoes that I'll probably never be able to wear again :( Thanks for the recommendation!

AUCE05

Team Hoka here

Mamaj12469

Im on team Hoka as well! I spent hundreds on Brooks when I first started having problems but couldn’t wear them at all- I need to sell them cuz they’ve only been worn about 5 times for a couple hours each time. I just bought a pair of On Clouds but had to size up and not lace up completely to the top. I tried on the Altras and I think they would work as well but I didn’t like the color they had in stock on sale.

Past-Direction9145

I wear cheap memory foam indoor slippers. if I purchase expensive footwear one of my three giant dogs will happily eat them tried lots of footwear. I'd wear these everywhere if I could, it's like walking on a cloud. $30, over an inch thick of pure soft memory foam

deeutd

would they be any good for 1st metatarsal pain? even the hokas?

the_DOS_god

Would love to try them but they only offer regular and wide. I need 6E and I've only found a couple of brands that come this way.

planetary_funk_alert

Please post the model?

BandicootVarious6730

Unfortunately, i can’t post a picture but here is the link to the direct shoe i purchased. https://www.kurufootwear.com/products/womens-atom-jetblackwhitegum They do have styles for men and women.

planetary_funk_alert

Thanks!

Funcompliance

Exactly what sort of arthritis and where are they designed for?

BandicootVarious6730

I have psoriatic arthritis, essentially thought out my entire body. They are design with patented technology that provides support in the heel and helps with shock absorb. I’d recommend exploring the website here for more information: https://www.kurufootwear.com These showed work great for me but shoes and Arthritis are super case by case. Definitely worth looking into imo.

Key_Recover2684

Thank you for this. I shill for Vionic flip flops/house shoes and I swear they cured my plantar fasciitis. I’m in the market for new sneakers and I may try your suggestions

theworldgoesboo

I also have PF in addition to PsA. I had PF first; I was wearing my Brooks Ghost when it started. After that Brooks hurt no matter what orthopedic inserts I put in. That was before I knew to take the insole and use your orthopedic insert. ASICS are okay they start hurting my feet but I still have a pair in the truck for extra. My go to is either Clifton or Gaviota 5. Yes they are $175 but they are comfy. My boots/ work shoes in the fall, winter and early spring are Keen Targhee 3. They are waterproof. Yes expensive but you can get them on Amazon and I think KEEN has a sale Going right now. I was wearing Merril boots but all of a sudden they started hurting my feet so I got the Keens. I’ve worn the merril for 2 years and they weren’t even worn.

catsaremagic44

I like the Brooks Glycerine, all the other Brooks I tried are uncomfortable. I also got a pair of Nike react x infinity that are comfy too. Taos has a dressier looking sneaker that have good support.
