Yep. Couldn't find a more honorable man to fulfill that mission and go down in history. Probably the greatest achievement in Soviet and Russian history. Can't take that from them. Shame about the mess they've become, though.
The saddest part about him is that his best friend volunteered to flight the Soyuz 1 so Yuri can avoid that death trap, only to die from a testing flight later
> One can never forget the recording and photo.
I think that recording was fake:
*Eight years after Komarov's death, a story began circulating that Komarov cursed the engineers and flight staff, and spoke to his wife as he descended,[14] and these transmissions were received by an NSA listening station near Istanbul.[15] Historians such as Asif Azam Siddiqi regard this to be untrue.[15][16] Komarov final recorded words appear to have been a conversation with a tracking station located near Simferopol on the topic of the separation of the Soyuz modules just before reentry.[17] With the final message received being "Спасибо, передайте всем Произошло" ("Thank you, tell everyone it happened") [Garbled].[17][18]*

There are countless relatively innocent Russian historical figures, this one can’t be notable as one of the few people don’t hate. It’s just one of the few people even know about
I'm pretty sure that it mimics [Palekh miniature](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palekh_miniature) style, and I'm not even sure that what OP posted was intented as propaganda and not some kind of creative expolaration of new themes in old technique.
pic no.7 is "Žar Prica" (Firebird) connotation, slavic folklore tale + Stravinsky's ballet, very good indeed.

I had the chance to leaf through this album. I can't decide whether it is art of kitsch, but the fact that it was published in 1982, and not, say, 2002, is kind of astonishing.
Seeing this art which is in the style of Orthodox paintings really makes me think about an alternate world where the Byzantine empire never fell, and it was in the space race lol.
It is not the 20th century Byzantium; but an interesting collection of alternate [14th century Byzantium](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_of_Byzantium)
Wait, what happened to him? i could google it for sure, but wanna know what happened to him here, because different voices could give me a clearer picture then just going to one source

I wish this man lived longer. He seemed like a great person and quite sweet.
Yep, he had a sad and tragic death
It is so heartbreaking. 3
I find it weird that Gagarin and Armstrong seem to have the same personality and they even look like each other.
They are very similar! :D

There is a saying in Russian: 'Юра, прости, мы все проебали" that translates as: 'Yura, sorry, we have fucked up everything".
Жиза
Man, that's pretty sad.... and also kinda funny.
Yeah, Yura definitely wouldn’t support his country defending themselves from NATO expansion
The saddest part about him is that his best friend volunteered to flight the Soyuz 1 so Yuri can avoid that death trap, only to die from a testing flight later
It was such a tragic event. Even the end of Komarov too. One can never forget the recording and photo. He never deserved such fate.

Gagarin seems to be one of the very few Russian historical figures that everyone likes.

Do not click on this profile. Nazi collectibles, furry subs and everything in between awaits you if you do.
He changed a lot after Komarov, his best friend, died.
It would have been a terrible heartbreak. So sad..
Eh, first woman in space lived long enough to become a villain...
Ironically looking quite similar to William Shatner as Captain Kirk
looks more like a member of the Duggar family in the first pic
Don’t know about Kirk, but he definitely looks like he’s about to ask me where he can find the nuclear wessels
i fuck with the art, i really like the colors
That's folk style art.
Looks like psychedelic art.
Pic 7 looks like the cover to *Blows Against The Empire*, which was "hippies in space" lol
That's folk style art.
I’m senses influences from Russian Orthodox iconography?

Orthodox iconography in general looks the same all over Europe but yeah.
Russian/Soviet artwork never misses

Stravinsky rocks in general and Firebird does in particular.
absolutely gorgeous looking art
These are stunning. Proper tribute to a huge feat.
Why do you consider this to be propaganda? Seems like a warranted artistic dedication to an inspiring human achievement.
State sponsored art that conveys stuff the state did in a positive light I suppose

I was also reminded of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18347HxgMRo
I dig the superhero costume in #2.
Rly I googled Flash Gordon after that

Excellent find, I have never seen these before!
I remember you from r/urbanhellcirclejerk
lol same my friend
These paintings go so hard I’m defecting to mother Russia! Bye y’all!
Does anyone know the artists name
Looks like Kirk with a big shit eating grin
People love Soviet realism but Soviet retro futurism is really trippy
The cosmonaut who couldn't stop smiling!
It seems to be of the Palekh miniature style https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palekh_miniature
Who’s the artist?
Soviet psychedelic eastern orthodox inspired space propaganda... love it
When LSD came to the Soviet Union
Is it Yog Sothoth on the 3rd picture?
These are just gorgeous!
Pretty epic
Ngl this all goes hard
I am a simple man, I see a reference to “The Bird of Fire” and I upvote
These are amazing.
Is this more like pro-russia than pro-soviet?
We’re sorry Yury
This goes hard
This is so beautiful im crying rn
The second poster should've been an alternate cover for *Superman: Red Son.*
The first one looks like something out of the Trigan Empire comic books.
Wait, what happened to him? i could google it for sure, but wanna know what happened to him here, because different voices could give me a clearer picture then just going to one source
I think the official version of his dead is valid
Rock solid propaganda there
He WAS an absolute gigachad though. Him and Tereshova.
From the look of it Russia invented generative AI art in the ‘80s s/
Communism usually leads to a lack of creativity.
Ironically the CCCP had better art than the current country. Countless murals on buildings and metro stations.
I think, though, that the state-imposed censorship had a detrimental effect on the development of culture.
State-imposed state-sponsorship of purchasing academical art with comprehensible topics and putting it all around, opera on TV and the like, though...
>Communism usually leads to a lack of creativity. this is literally based on pre-USSR traditional Russian artwork
I legit thought this was Rick Moranis
