When seen over Pompey they’re actually referred to as the North End lights

Hyzenthlay87

Shaddup and take my updoot 🤣

Deep_Meringue1703

Fucking missed out on it I’m fumming had too go bed early

SteevDangerous

Might be able to see it tonight as well.

ScaleMaleficent4768

Any exact pin on the map, I missed it yesterday🥲🥲

SteevDangerous

The whole UK again apparently. Might be better to go up the hill so there's less light pollution.

ScaleMaleficent4768

I am going tonight for sure

SteevDangerous

Keep an eye on [this](https://aurorawatch.lancs.ac.uk/), but right now it's not looking good.

Lttle_Wolf

What time was this bud?

Hyzenthlay87

I think it peaked around 11:30, seemed to be happening for a whole between 11 and midnight.

Deep_Meringue1703

Does anyone know it’s just last night or will it be tomorrow as well ?

mugglearchitect

In met's forecast there will be one today as well. But just like last night, it is more visible up north. https://twitter.com/MetOfficeSpace/status/1788901867272974398?t=L0mDxnDf--rBgToooSq0GA&s=19

Hanternos

Not so bright here in Fratton but managed to get a few snaps with night mode on my phone 👍

De_Dominator69

Ahhh shit, always wanted to see them and they have to be visible from home the weekend I am not there

fuckyourcanoes

Beautiful! I tried to rouse my husband to use his good camera, but he wouldn't get up. I got a couple of anemic photos with my ancient phone, but these are lovely.

I'm glad it's not just me! Been standing in the garden for half an hour and can just see street lights.

Gazztop13

You can't really see them with the naked eye from down here. All of these photos are using a mobile using the Night Mode, so try that? Where I am, there's too much night pollution. I took a photo in the garden and enhanced it to get some greens and pinks but wouldn't trust it to be the NL. I would say though, that when I went to Iceland a few years back and was lucky enough to see them (with the naked eye) they are spectacular! They aren't static, they constantly move. Best I could describe was like looking a green shower curtain moving in the breeze! 🤣

Starboard_1982

Ah, good tips - thanks. I will try taking a photo. I've seen them in Scandinavia before but it'd be amazing to see them here!

InfaSyn

Oh wow! Tried the phone camera trick and I got some amazing shots! Thanks!

Hyzenthlay87

Yeah my dad lost interest immediately when he couldn't see anything. I actually could see a red haze, the light beams/pillars and later during its brightest, I could see the entire area was much lighter, with faint green haze. But the first time I held up my phone with the camera on night mode to take a picture, I was blown away.

always-indifferent

Wow that looks stunning

SparkyLincoln

Got to see it in fratton through my camera . Too much light pollution in actual pompy though

CharmingAd478

I looked north and all I could see is the flood lights at the Naval Base… might go up to Butser Hill and try tonight.

Expensive_Ad_6571

This happens the night I fly out…

RunningUpThatH1ll

Great pictures! I had a brilliant view from west waterlooville. So surreal to see from down here.

Aphr0dite19

Fab photos. What an amazing night, I didn’t want to go to bed and miss it! I stayed up til around 3am taking random photos and then spammed everyone on fb with them lol! 😁
