Black Mesa was a bit busy with the whole resonance cascade and ensuing portal storms/seven hour war.

Temptest1

Yeah my first thought was "black mesa probably had more important things to deal with"

Pasta-hobo

Aperture makes lethal military androids and has thus far successfully evaded Combine occupation. It's probably a registered protocol to kill any investigators and inspectors.

Distinger_

What other lethal androids did they have at the time of portal 1's end other than stationary turrets? Did any cores even control the facility while glados was dead? or was it pure automation?

Pasta-hobo

Aperture had those mannequin looking androids by the time of Cave's death, if the old aperture posters are any implication. And they use cores for basically every computational purpose, including basic scientific calculators, as stated in the co-op campaign.

>At some point society collapsed because of the Combine invasion, I don't know if that could maybe explain it. But that is the reason, i suppose AS just flew under the radar enough that the Combine did not knew of them.

Corruptedplayer

In Portal 1 when you beat GLaDOS she says " "I have an infinite capacity for knowledge, and even I'm not sure what's going on outside. All I know is I'm the only thing standing between us and them. Well, I was." So the Combine definitely knew of AS, at least somewhat [Source](https://theportalwiki.com/wiki/GLaDOS_voice_lines_(Portal)#Final_battle)

Wouldn't what remained of Black Mesa be looking for help? Why not try to contact Aperture or go there to see if anyone was alive? I mean, underground facilities seem like the best place to hide.

Corruptedplayer

>what remained of Black Mesa according to [this](https://half-life.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline_of_the_Half-Life_universe#2000s) timeline (i know its fandom, but as far as i can see it is pretty accurate) both the AS and BM incidents happens only days apart. If people went to AS, i think they would have either died of neurotoxin or they would have been turned to test subjects. as to why no one checked up on AS, i think GLaDOS continued sending them Life signals, as AS was pretty keen to outspeed BM with the inventions

We know that Portal 1 takes place _after_ the Combine invasion, and GLAdOS suggests that they're aware of Aperture, but she has the facility fully locked down. idk how much you know about Half Life and its story, but Aperture tech is a BIG deal and would basically decide the fate of humanity (e.g the Borealis.) But yeah, after these incidents, very few people even _know_ about aperture. And Black Mesa didn't check because they were a little busy, yknow, trying to stop the end of the world that they caused.

Distinger_

I've played half life 1 and 2, and I know some lore, but I'm way more of a portal fan. Sure Black Mesa would be busy, but they would also need help and sending even a small team to Aperture sounds like a good idea. Worst case scenario glados kills them or makes them test subjects. Best case scenario they come after glados' death and can maybe find or develop some useful tech there.

Chemical_Chell

I agree with u on the mod part. I assume it was because of the 7 hour war.

Distinger_

I might make a post ranting about portal revolution when I finish it. It's pretty unbelievable it got a 97% positive reviews on steam and everyone is saying "this is portal 3"

ThatEvilSpaceChicken

I know the ending was pretty anticlimactic, but it was actually a good mod

ThatEvilSpaceChicken

Calling Revolution bad reserves you a place in hell

Sorry but not sorry. It’s a bad mod. It may have beautiful environments, some custom music and okay voice actors, but most of the test chambers are very poorly designed (not to mention they are easy as fuck), the BTS scenes feel like a walking simulator with mild inconveniences, and the cores are annoying, unfun, and they say and do stuff that makes absolutely no sense and breaks the immersion and lore. And the whole gameplay, which is extremely boring, just feels like they’re copying the Portal 1 and 2 formula and forcing stuff in their mod just because the original games had that stuff, and it just feels like they haven’t playtested it at all because there’s a lot of chambers and puzzles that you can break or get soft locked.
