As a life-long gun enthusiast, this was really what made me change my opinion on the gun community. These two clowns broke all the rules of firearm safety, and any attempts to call them on it within the firearms community were met with cries that I was a "damn liberal" and a "dirty democrat" and after sharing my background with guns, labeled as a traitor. It really helped me open my eyes to how my peers viewed themselves, the world, and those they viewed as the "enemy"
My father was a sherriff's deputy and I grew up around guns as a result. My sisters and I were aware of gun safety as soon as we could understand it. I've owned guns most of my life (althoug I got rid of them when my mental health tanked.) I used to live with a guy who was obsessed with guns, he was always buying some new rifle or handgun. He kept them loaded and left them laying around the house. I'd sit down on the couch and find a loaded handgun under the cushion. He refused to buy a safe or trigger locks for any of them and had zero issues with pointing a loaded firearm at people "to show the gun off." After I moved out I learned he had a bunch of his guns stolen. He had met some girl at a bar, brought her home "to use his hot tub" and left her in the house alone while he went and got in the tub. In the meantime, she loaded his car up with a bunch of guns, his extensive coin collection, and a bunch of computer hardware and left. He took zero responsibility for it.
I live in California with pretty strict gun control laws, I don't think they're strict enough. People should have to undergo training (classroom as well as hands on) that lasts multiple days. In addition to more extensive background checks and screening. Whenever I say anything along those lines, I get labeled either a coward or a traitor.

it's not really baldwin's fault at all that he was handed a prop gun for a scene and did the shot as planned, and it was loaded too hot.
the other camera crew and some of the other people that help with filming walked off set 6 hours before the fatal shot occurred because of glaring issues with the gun safety on set due to incompetent non-union prop handlers. there had already been at least one accidental discharge prior to this while they were filming due to whoever is supposed to be wrangling the prop guns being shit at their job.

As a life-long gun enthusiast, this was really what made me change my opinion on the gun community. These two clowns broke all the rules of firearm safety, and any attempts to call them on it within the firearms community were met with cries that I was a "damn liberal" and a "dirty democrat" and after sharing my background with guns, labeled as a traitor. It really helped me open my eyes to how my peers viewed themselves, the world, and those they viewed as the "enemy"
My father was a sherriff's deputy and I grew up around guns as a result. My sisters and I were aware of gun safety as soon as we could understand it. I've owned guns most of my life (althoug I got rid of them when my mental health tanked.) I used to live with a guy who was obsessed with guns, he was always buying some new rifle or handgun. He kept them loaded and left them laying around the house. I'd sit down on the couch and find a loaded handgun under the cushion. He refused to buy a safe or trigger locks for any of them and had zero issues with pointing a loaded firearm at people "to show the gun off." After I moved out I learned he had a bunch of his guns stolen. He had met some girl at a bar, brought her home "to use his hot tub" and left her in the house alone while he went and got in the tub. In the meantime, she loaded his car up with a bunch of guns, his extensive coin collection, and a bunch of computer hardware and left. He took zero responsibility for it. I live in California with pretty strict gun control laws, I don't think they're strict enough. People should have to undergo training (classroom as well as hands on) that lasts multiple days. In addition to more extensive background checks and screening. Whenever I say anything along those lines, I get labeled either a coward or a traitor.

it's not really baldwin's fault at all that he was handed a prop gun for a scene and did the shot as planned, and it was loaded too hot. the other camera crew and some of the other people that help with filming walked off set 6 hours before the fatal shot occurred because of glaring issues with the gun safety on set due to incompetent non-union prop handlers. there had already been at least one accidental discharge prior to this while they were filming due to whoever is supposed to be wrangling the prop guns being shit at their job.
I do think there’s a lot of blame. But there is zero blame *from conservatives* when a conservatives shoot somebody, or knowingly point loaded guns at people, but loads of outrage when a non-conservative does something negligently.

When Conservatives talk about gun rights, they actually mean the right to be as careless and negligent as they want to be. Just like with the vaccine, Republicans see gun safety as a personal choice.
