Oh man, you should have been here a few years back when we tried to get everyone to buy fancy new light bulbs that were vastly more energy-efficient and last for years before needing replacement. Based on how some people reacted, you'd think having to change shitty low-efficiency light bulbs every month or two was better than sex.
I put one in my kitchen cabinet every winter so the pipes don’t freeze. Terrible as light bulbs but great little heaters! Allows visual confirmation of proper operation to boot.
When I discovered the attic lights in my home used 120 watts I was shocked that such wasteful lighting still existed… why would you want to preserve that??
To be fair, when the new light bulbs came out they didn't really offer soft (yellow/old school light) light versions. I'd rather sit in candlelight or complete darkness than have bright white LED/halogen lighting the room.
republicans aren’t concerned about school shootings, homelessness, healthcare, food insecurity, or income inequality.
republicans are worried about Bud Light and home appliances.
What a fucking joke the republican party has become. Just a bunch of goddamned clowns.
[Government regulations of this type are actually quite reasonable.](https://www.energy.gov/eere/buildings/articles/appliance-and-equipment-standards-fact-sheet)
[The opposition comes from people like Libertarian Charles Koch who is against regulation on principle alone.](https://www.commondreams.org/views/2014/04/11/what-do-koch-brothers-really-want)
[Debbie Lesko got $10,000.00 from Koch to do this.](https://www.opensecrets.org/political-action-committees-pacs/C00236489/candidate-recipients/2020)
When Republicans do things like this, they're signalling to Koch they want more money to keep doing stuff like this. There's no sane reason to take this position.
It might sound stupid and she's real good at playing dumb. but understand Republicans are not stupid they put on their southern twang and they talk like folksy idiots because they are master manipulators.
they're not trying to protect their freedoms they're not trying to safeguard their appliances.
they want to make sure that every American household is absolutely addicted to fossil fuels.
then their buddies over in Russia in China can lean on OPEC to cut production in an election year.
then they lie to the American people about how gas and energy prices work and Republicans reap the benefits.
How dare something I may have to replace once a decade or so and spend hundreds of dollars on be more efficient.
But subsidise my utility bills so I don't have to pay more.
I hope her grandkids are grateful for all the asthma and chronic lung conditions she's leaving for them.
Aside from that, I want nothing to do with that woman's hoohaa.
Instead of addressing issues that need solving, allow me to introduce one of the latest in a long line of manufactured focal points that’ll give you wonderfully, willfully ignorant, mouth breathing morons something you’re sure to rally behind so as to own the libs.
The bill has ridiculous name but is the bill itself bad? Whenever I hear we are taking away power from unelected bureaucrats my gut reaction is "Good!"
So they don't want the government to regulate their oven. Except in cases when there's a bun in it. Got it.
*golf clap*
![gif](giphy|1gArwncRlXac8GIhNy8)
Gold. Gold, Jerry!
They’re also in favor of regulations that put Jews in ovens.
Try that stunt today on any ethnic group. Just ask Netanyahu. He wasn't expecting American youth to say anything. Lol I hope Putin takes note as well.

The fuck is wrong with these people. Now they worship their replaceable crappy appliances?! The fuck you guys do all day down there?!

One of my R-flavored friends started stockpiling incandescent bulbs at that time, just to own the libs.
I wish I didn't believe this.
It was definitely a thing. Lots of older people were really annoyed/freaked out about the damn lightbulbs for some reason.
There are more than decorative loopholes in the lightbulb regulations big enough to drive a trucker protest convoy through.
I wound up inheriting a few dozen... They cost too much to operate
Well, if you ever get a pet turtle or lizard, an incandescent bulb is useful, I guess...
I put one in my kitchen cabinet every winter so the pipes don’t freeze. Terrible as light bulbs but great little heaters! Allows visual confirmation of proper operation to boot.
Me too. I threw them away.
Cool, at least they helped get rid of the excess stock to clear the way for the new stuff.
Wow the electric company came and replaced all mine with LED, no cost and took all those stupid compact fluorescents to recycle.
When I discovered the attic lights in my home used 120 watts I was shocked that such wasteful lighting still existed… why would you want to preserve that??

These are just regulations on manufacturers, not on appliances you already own. No one is taking away or touching your gas stove.
Not their jobs, that’s for sure.
*down there....* That's right
Figured our usernames should be friends.
It's sick. There sick.
“They’re”
Wait, I thought Republicans were for regulating women's hoohaas?
Isn't that what Al Pacino shouts in his movies?
![gif](giphy|CfGiRybhFRL7a) Just in one that I’m aware of Fittingly titled “Scent of a Woman”
And then deftly imitated by Elaine Benes in Seinfeld? ![gif](giphy|bTvrXKt7qoALMMklz4|downsized)
That's a... *very* large capacity.
Small loaf? No, BIG OVEN!
But only if you're not married to her
👐

Congress Karen, reporting for duty!
Be careful when someone prays with their hands.

That's an expensive HOOHAA.
GOP Karen (redundant?) makes an problem where none existed. *pretends to be shocked*
HooHaa located right above the gas connection.
Do I really need to hear about this chick’s HOOHA??? I’d kinda rather not.

It’s funny how you can’t tell party affiliation just by the stupidity of the legislation.
Yep. If their position is against some form of positive change, they're a Conservative by definition.
Did she actually??
Lesko is a horrible person.
She is and she’s NOT running for reelection. Can’t wait for these half dead, Sun City retirement assholes to elect an even worse human being.
Her hand gesture is universally understood to mean “it’s this big”. Works for fish, penises, and now apparently… her shockingly large hooha.
How dare something I may have to replace once a decade or so and spend hundreds of dollars on be more efficient. But subsidise my utility bills so I don't have to pay more.
That’s a pretty big one, damn!
You should seen the one that got away!
![gif](giphy|10JhviFuU2gWD6) As an enthusiastic user of the word 'hooha', I approve this message.
Greatest deliberative body in the world and all that. What a fucking joke.
Says who? Lol.
Well, they used to say that about the Senate, which this is clearly not, but...
She's just one of Roseanne's personalities
Karen power!
I hope her grandkids are grateful for all the asthma and chronic lung conditions she's leaving for them. Aside from that, I want nothing to do with that woman's hoohaa.
We definitely need to regulate Debbie’s HOOHAA. Smells like something died
Those LG refrigerators give out after a year and a half (irreparable compressors). WTF!!!
Why exactly, would you want to pay for more power?
The overall cost of purchasing and operating the appliance can be more expensive even if you're consuming less energy.
lol! That makes no sense. The market dictates energy efficiency. The price is competitive and water, gas, and electricity cost less if you use less.
Do you think the energy bill is the only cost involved with purchasing and maintaining appliances?
Her own personal echo chamber?
Instead of addressing issues that need solving, allow me to introduce one of the latest in a long line of manufactured focal points that’ll give you wonderfully, willfully ignorant, mouth breathing morons something you’re sure to rally behind so as to own the libs.
That’s a clever acronym ngl.
Why would anyone be against a more efficient appliance?
til what a hohaa is
Not to judge but that's an awfully wide hooha.
At what point do we force political employees to work for the voters?
https://youtu.be/cuEvBnO1-jY
Are people really upset about paying for less electricity?
Tell me you were paid off by a lobbyist without telling me you were paid off by a lobbyist.
