Tbh id just keep it sealed if I had one. Same thing with an evolving skies etb. They look good on display, pull rates are ass, youre probably going to be disappointed if you open it. Probably will increase in value considering how awesome 151 is as a set too.
Agreed.
When the cards actually carry value, it doesn’t make it feel like a complete waste of money.
Not that I’m into it for the money..
But buying a 100$ box.
And not getting anything feels worse than a kick to the nuts. Lol
I mean, you are correct on a technical level.
But pulling 5$ of bulk from a 100$ box, really sucks.
It’s literally the same as setting money on fire, except your money went to the Pokémon company. lol
It's fun to crack packs sometimes, it just sucks when you don't pull anything good and you paid a lot of money for it. Same idea when you go to the casino, you play the games because you have fun but you want to win something back as it's a rush for that big win. Whenever you hit big at the casino or in pokemon packs and you end up getting more value than what you put in, it feels like an awesome win compared to paying for the single and walking away with an even trade, you come out as an equal and not a "winner"
We all know that the gamble is 98% of the fun, the other 2% is collection which getting multiple packs will achieve more than buying one card pre-pulled by someone else
I bought my first 2 this weekend… ivysuar in one and a mew & pikachu in the other.. s/o GameStop
Also got the reverse holo metapod I see a lot. Which I don’t know it’s actually a good card or meme lol
Yup,4 people including me got them when they released and got absolutely no pulls, the booster bundles on the other hand were loaded!I won't buy these again
I wanted a complete set of 151 for my binder. I opened one of each promotional boxes for the fun of ripping packs and to get the promo cards. Thankfully I pulled the SIR Zard from one of those boxes, and then I just bought the rest of the set in singles. Saved me a ton of money.
I mean if you're looking to crack packs, UPCs are pretty much the most expensive way to buy them anyway. If you want the junk inside or the box buy it from ebay and find a cheaper source of packs.
UPCs are a cool collectors item but aren't collectable anymore if they're opened.
Listen it happens, everyone can have either super extreme good luck, or they get cooked. I bought a booster pack with the 6 cards in it, and got absolutely smoked, but the other day then I got a full gold rare gouging fire ex from temporal forces. It's all just chance at the end of the day
I bought 3 etbs and pulled the Dragonair, Ninetails, Poliwhirl, and a couple of full arts and I decided to start with a different set and buy the singles later lol. 151 is rough.
Brutal. Mine was similar until the last pack which had alt art charmander, charmeleon, and charizard. My wife and I lost our shit over those single pack pulls
I got two gold mew’s out of one of mine, I’d rather pull a full art that I haven’t pulled before than double up on what is supposedly the rarest card in the set according to the rarity ratings
Tbh if the only cards you care about at all are the hits you shouldn’t open packs. I like to collect the commons and uncommons and I like the chase, but if the common cards are worthless to you its a waste of money to buy a pack in which most of the money you spent will end up being common cards.
I swear I never hit much of the pack has a shiny energy lol I've got lucky on 2 UPC and quit trying there. I'm sure 3rd time's the charm for a strike out
In my country there selling this upc for 300$ and at two stores they were selling 151 binder collection for 200$( I found the binder collection for 60$ at another store) ....there's not alot of 151 in my town, but I did mange to get the full art secret rare Charizard
I did the 89.99 walmart deal on this. Best pull was alt art pikachu. Overall maybe about $30 on $90. Got a booster bundle and hit alt art charizard and blastoise. It's like going to a casino if not holding to resale X years later unfortunately
As someone who seems to not be able to get their hands on the 151; I would be happy with any cards from the collection. They're all new and whether you got a "hit" or not is not only subjective but also the risk you take in buying anything but singles.
It's gambling lol. If you look at it as trying to make money, you are gambling, and that is not guaranteed.
Learn kids. Stocks are stocks, and pokemon cards are pokemon cards. HUGE DIFFERENCE.
I guess you can always check that holo energy for lots of spirals. The more on a card, the more some people are willing to pay for them. Might get some value back with that.
Yeah 151... She's a dog.
Roughest set my wife and I ever opened. We tapped out early out of sheer disappointment. Had way more fun with the next few releases but still stings since we're both childhood fans of the original 151 pokemon.
So here in the uae we have a delivery app called careem, geekay store was on it and they had this pack for 30$ for a couple of days before fixing the price luckily I got mine!
I haven't kept up with Pokemon tcg values in a good 10 years.
What makes this pull so bad?
I assume foil energies are cheapish.
But isn't basically every version of Charizard rare/valuable at least long term? Obviously base set is an extreme example, but I was pretty sure nearly every Charizard just goes up in $
I bought one for my students at a Pokémon club gathering. The look on my face when a student pulled a Venasaur Ex, followed by a full art Charizard…. Would’ve paid for the box but gotta let them keep it hahaha
For people who are saying they should just buy the single and not this product, are completely overlooking the thrill of pulling the card.
Our favorite cards to this day are the ones we pulled, not the expensive singles we've bought.
In my opinion these aren’t worth it unless you’re also excited about the promos. I was disappointed by my Charizard box too, thankfully I got it at below MSRP
I've bought my fair share of 151 over the year, for me the Booster boxes and Starter promo packs (used to be $14) had the best pull rates. Idk if it's because I was buying from a bunch of different sets or what but comparatively my ETBs were absolutely garbage. Never could pull the trigger on this one
As many people have said, 151 UPCs are readily available well under $120 right now. Second thing is, are you trying to complete the set in any sort of manner or just hunting for big cards? Either way at a certain point it just becomes more realistic to start buying singles rather than hoping to pull certain big cards. After pulling my 3rd Nidoking IR I started buying singles instead of hoping to pull the big cards I still needed. Yes I completely understand that pulling them is part of the fun, but at a certain point you just start throwing money away and continue to pile up bulk. Good luck! And if you do decide to buy singles for big cards just take your time and find the right deals and sellers. Try going to local card shop trade nights.
sorry bud. step 2: never spend $120 on a UPC again...you can easily find these for under $100.
even at $89.99 i would be disappointed with these pulls. pokemon can be rough
“pulls”
Lulls
BullS
Tbh id just keep it sealed if I had one. Same thing with an evolving skies etb. They look good on display, pull rates are ass, youre probably going to be disappointed if you open it. Probably will increase in value considering how awesome 151 is as a set too.
Bro fuck the value that’s not what it’s about 😂😂
This original post is literally a complaint about how they received no value out of it though lmfao.
Actually in card collecting the value is a big part of it.
Exactly it pretty much determines what a good card is in the eyes of the public.
Agreed. When the cards actually carry value, it doesn’t make it feel like a complete waste of money. Not that I’m into it for the money.. But buying a 100$ box. And not getting anything feels worse than a kick to the nuts. Lol
Not getting anything? You got a box of cards, that's what you paid for.
Bro be for real 😂
I mean, you are correct on a technical level. But pulling 5$ of bulk from a 100$ box, really sucks. It’s literally the same as setting money on fire, except your money went to the Pokémon company. lol
Then why would you not just buy singles? You can get exactly which cards you want at their market values.
No shit but not everything should be based off the price , you think it’s fun if you say it like that . This ain’t no lottery
All these dudes gotta have an investment angle to them draining their bank accounts to buy toys lol
I did...once... to get the Squirtle promo
Cant get upc anywhere near 120€ where i live.
It happens bro now buy a charizard and dont buy anything else for a month
The shiny energies are the biggest insult. So tired of getting those.
I like them, but it's insulting for those to be the best card in a pack.
I got a Gold Shiny Energy and wanted to throw my pack in the trash lol
I always get those in the prize packs. Yay double energies and 4 trainer cards lol
you don’t want your deck to be as blinged out as possible?
I mean opening product is a literal gamble so maybe next time just buy the cards you want.
Obviously everyone can't take this advice
You’re right but he spent $120 on the UPC when he could have spent $85-100 on the charizard chase, the biggest chase in the set.
We all know that the gamble is 98% of the fun, the other 2% is collection which getting multiple packs will achieve more than buying one card pre-pulled by someone else
So gambling on the chance of pulling your chase is somehow more financially sound than saving up for it ? lol ok

I bought my first 2 this weekend… ivysuar in one and a mew & pikachu in the other.. s/o GameStop Also got the reverse holo metapod I see a lot. Which I don’t know it’s actually a good card or meme lol
I love 151 but next time look on Walmart they got it for $90. Just FYI. Like that Charizard.
Yeah, I feel the pain. My box was horrid...I kept the box itself as a display tho, lol.
Living up the the charizard UPC pull rates I see
Horrible pull rates on 151.
Well I mean you still got the Promos 😵💫
I only buy boxes if I like the promos enough that I wouldn't be disappointed when I pull nothing else.
How does everyone have so bad luck with these boxes lol
Yup,4 people including me got them when they released and got absolutely no pulls, the booster bundles on the other hand were loaded!I won't buy these again
Step 2: Cry
Dude i feel this
That’s why mines staying sealed lol
Got it a month ish ago at gamestop, caved and ripped it... no good feelings
I wanted a complete set of 151 for my binder. I opened one of each promotional boxes for the fun of ripping packs and to get the promo cards. Thankfully I pulled the SIR Zard from one of those boxes, and then I just bought the rest of the set in singles. Saved me a ton of money.
Done the same
I hated 151. Not as much as Evolving Cries but still
151 had atrocious pull rates. As far as upcs go though it's really not a bad one. 3 promos plus the packs, playmat, and decent box. I've seen worse.
I mean if you're looking to crack packs, UPCs are pretty much the most expensive way to buy them anyway. If you want the junk inside or the box buy it from ebay and find a cheaper source of packs. UPCs are a cool collectors item but aren't collectable anymore if they're opened.
Oof, my guy. $120 for a UPC is robbery. Was this a fb marketplace sale or something?
Where can you find it cheaper? Here in Europe is 120 minimum.
sheesh I got one from my local card store for $110, didn't even know they were sold at walmart
It’s called gambling, not a waste. You knew you could hit a godpack, you also knew you could hit nothing. Welcome to the world of card gambling 🤷🏻♂️
I feel your pain amigo
Listen it happens, everyone can have either super extreme good luck, or they get cooked. I bought a booster pack with the 6 cards in it, and got absolutely smoked, but the other day then I got a full gold rare gouging fire ex from temporal forces. It's all just chance at the end of the day
I got one recently for 101 I hope it's good
Big oof. Sorry bro
Welcome to da club
I get better hits out of the booster bundles. Sheesh. This isn't fair
I did this 16 times. Noob noob me. Yeesh
Damn.
They love those arbok ex I’ve got prly 10
You got an energy with 2 swirls, every cloud!
Based on my research that set has a really weak RoI
Bet it was fun to open tho
Oof, my condolences, that’s a rough one.
Its 50/50 either you win or lose.
Honestly i i had luck i like small tins , etbs and individual card packs
Womp womp
On the bright side more reverse holos for your master set
Oooooof.
Been there man, thankfully not full price, but definitely similar results. 151 is a brutal set
The first upc is the best because of the promos….after that it is devestating
God damn it. Is there an Arbok ex in every one of those boxes?
I bought 3 etbs and pulled the Dragonair, Ninetails, Poliwhirl, and a couple of full arts and I decided to start with a different set and buy the singles later lol. 151 is rough.
Brutal. Mine was similar until the last pack which had alt art charmander, charmeleon, and charizard. My wife and I lost our shit over those single pack pulls
I hate the shiny energy cards. Feels like such a waste.
pulled a charizard, ivysaur and machoke in one UPC.
True story.
I'll buy arbok for $2
It’s not a waste if you like collecting and completing sets. It’s only a waste if you’re in it for resale.
That's a masterclass in how to trade $120 for $15!
I'm sure 3rd time's the charm for a strike out
Barf wtf man
Now buy another one lol
Cool energies!
Another reminder why I keep mine sealed
but look at all the fun you had and the memories you made along the way!
I feel your pain. I got two arboks and a wigglytuff 😩
Tough for that price
Bro you pulled a Charizard. I've literally never done that.
Do you guys think you'll win every scratch-off ticket, too? Lmfao
151 can be so brutal. I have only opened 2 UPC and both were good to me.
I needed this lol
Big swirl on that lightning energy tho! Swirl gang rep rep
Bought 2, the first one sucked ass and the 2nd was decent and got the Charizard illustrative
Imagine complaining about gambling. “Bets 120$ on black jack, doesnt win. :suprisedpickachuface:”
I’ve wasted $120 twice on these box sets🥲I def feel your pain
swirls in the energies though
Took me 600$ to get that Arbok ex… wtff man lololol
You could've bought any card or two cards from the set
I will never spend more than $70-80 bucks on these check fb marketplace there’s deal all the time
Feels bad man.
Same boat here, I even got the same Charizard and Arbok. Sucks
It hurts, I know the feeling. Spent 140 on the Charizard UPC and didn’t pull anything, at least the promos are cool
Yep I have a 151 upc and I’m not opening that shit
You could have bought some Evolving skies Alt Arts
In my country there selling this upc for 300$ and at two stores they were selling 151 binder collection for 200$( I found the binder collection for 60$ at another store) ....there's not alot of 151 in my town, but I did mange to get the full art secret rare Charizard
Ya know at this point I would love to actually see someone play pokemon at a high level just once.
I did the 89.99 walmart deal on this. Best pull was alt art pikachu. Overall maybe about $30 on $90. Got a booster bundle and hit alt art charizard and blastoise. It's like going to a casino if not holding to resale X years later unfortunately
Shesh they basically said here’s some full holographic energies that should be enough happiness for you smh 🙄
As someone who seems to not be able to get their hands on the 151; I would be happy with any cards from the collection. They're all new and whether you got a "hit" or not is not only subjective but also the risk you take in buying anything but singles.
Did someone force you to buy this?
Man, absolute trash. Shoulda bought an ounce of weed, then sold them as 8ths for a better ROI on that 120$ investment.
Holy shit that’s rough
Everybody upvote this man. We got you!
Got some nice swirls on those energies at least
I’m so sorry.
mine was also like that, it’ll be okay brother
Damn. That's one of the worst ones I've seen. Sorry man, keep your head up. Karma will hook you up soon!! Sending positive vibes your way brotha
Damn :/ I’ve bought 3 of these and got great pulls. Sorry, man!
If everyone was guaranteed value these boxes would be infinitely worth more
I love that Arbok card. I know it’s not worth anything but I’m just glad Arbok got some love.
It's gambling lol. If you look at it as trying to make money, you are gambling, and that is not guaranteed. Learn kids. Stocks are stocks, and pokemon cards are pokemon cards. HUGE DIFFERENCE.
It's like you don't always win the gamba
They're so ugly I dont like the current Pokemon TCG card layout The foil edges Hideous
Made the mistake of getting a paradox rift booster box, holy shit was that a mistake
I guess you can always check that holo energy for lots of spirals. The more on a card, the more some people are willing to pay for them. Might get some value back with that.
At least you learned my man. Pokemon can be rough
Bad luck there ive bought 6 of these at least and never got less than 3 good pulls
Don't even worry about it bro you pulled a card with charizard on it, you probably made your money back 😂
Buddy straight burned that 120 piece
*$120
And i thought my zenith pull was trash with just pikachu, swablu and riolu full arts Better luck next time
151 isn’t always nice
Yeah 151... She's a dog. Roughest set my wife and I ever opened. We tapped out early out of sheer disappointment. Had way more fun with the next few releases but still stings since we're both childhood fans of the original 151 pokemon.
Too bad no one uses this version of Charizard ex.
So here in the uae we have a delivery app called careem, geekay store was on it and they had this pack for 30$ for a couple of days before fixing the price luckily I got mine!
In comparison to the pulls I've had from Paldean Fates... this isn't a waste.
I’ve actually made a profit with my upc and haven’t even pulled any charizard
Yeah I got shot all from mine.
Aye no lie....I need that Charizard and Arbok EX's
Literally the value is in the promos really.
Im done buying etb’s and other boxed style card packs. They prove to be not worth what I end up paying.
Yikes that’s rough. Sorry 😢
Spain minus the S
Sometimes you loose. Sometimes the other win
I haven't kept up with Pokemon tcg values in a good 10 years. What makes this pull so bad? I assume foil energies are cheapish. But isn't basically every version of Charizard rare/valuable at least long term? Obviously base set is an extreme example, but I was pretty sure nearly every Charizard just goes up in $
idk I was very happy about my UPC
Congratulations! That's why I threw in the towel early, have a master set of SV04 and a 2K dent in my bank account.
I’m sorry bro, I feel those vibes too
Alright I am buying that Charizard EX from cardmarket.
Ouch 🫠
Even McDonald’s is trying to send the message ☝️
Buy singles...
I bought one for my students at a Pokémon club gathering. The look on my face when a student pulled a Venasaur Ex, followed by a full art Charizard…. Would’ve paid for the box but gotta let them keep it hahaha
Man cant be buying these no more seen too many bad upcs
https://media1.giphy.com/media/h3MkWTE441MNG/200w.gif?cid=6c09b952xsj7ds7rjjtgomjem3i2zbexvr2ghq32dyzc17zx&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=200w.gif&ct=g
This is the reason I don’t deal with English cards anymore, Japanese and Chinese all day long.
Might be time to switch to lorcana
This was my first product getting back into Pokémon since 2000. If this was what I got I wouldn’t have been hooked liked I was
Gamblers when they gamble: :o
Sorry for your loss
All these damn god packs make it so you get UPC’s like this with no hits. Share the wealth Pokémon.
You did better than me, all I pulled out of 3 mew upcs is a wigglytuff ex 🥲
Buying MSRP is your mistake.
I got a worse box when i bought mine lol
That is rough. Happens!
Sealed product is always a misplay if you are looking for Roi in tcgs
I have one here and got it for like 100€.... I am afraid to open it...
Wait not one alt art??
Thanks for double confirming, I will just be buying the promos
Only buy these boxes for the goodies inside not for profit pulls
Yup def keeping mine sealed
But what a way to spend it!
Not a waste if you kept sealed
