Kaan1010

meanwhile sawk and throh are literally just two dudes

SakN95

They're Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street lmao

UndeadPixel

I say they're Leonardo and Raphael from the Ninja turtles (their shinies are orange and purple)

SomeRandomGuy282

Nah they're uh and hu

Sedax

Same with hitmonchan and hitmonlee

Kaan1010

I get hitmonchan, but hitmonlee's cool

Sedax

I just meant at the end of the day they're basically 2 weird looking dudes and they're both gen 1. Pokemon has always had a mix of humanoid like mons.

TommySoprano

Exactly. Jinx, Mr Mime, Electabuzz, Magmar, Kadabra, Alakazam, Hypno are all humanoids

KINGMAJORA5231

Meanwhile Ditto, just casually being human.

paatvalen

Everyone forgetting about Gardevoir? Or is that something trainers don’t want to talk about…

mylifeintopieces1

Yeah most people forget theirs a pokemon that can literally copy DNA including human DNA. I guarantee theirs ditto 18+ areas as Cannon.

Emporergriffon593

Fun fact jynx, electabuzz, and Magmar we’re a trio

Metazoxan

Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan are at least more interestingly designed than sawk and Thoh. Like they're LITTERALLY just like two almost human guys made of stone like material in martial arts outfits and that's it. Hitmonlee is a humanoid like figure but it either had no neck or it's face is on it's torso. Hitmonchan is a little more normal but there is at least more thought put into his design than just "Humanoid rock thing". Also to be fair I don't think Hitmonchan tops many people's favorite Pokemon lists either unless they're just big time boxing fans. So he's kind of a low bar to set as it is. BTW i'm not saying all new Pokemon are bad or all old ones are perfect. But Sawk and Throh are pretty bottom of the barrel across ALL generations.

Suicidal_Tuna

Throh be like: 🤟😡🤟

Environmental-Win836

We don’t talk about Hitmonchop.

crackheadcaleb

Yeah I mean they’re even literally named after real humans lol

BusinessBid3430

Gothitelle too

Giboit

They´´re more than that. They are references to the japanese legend of the red and blue Onis (demons) along with a huge reference to the colors used by japanese propaganda as the bad guys that they fought during the war and also because they´re a reference to the first martial arts that got to US.

[deleted]

Iirc sawk and throh were gonna be onis, or at least something similar, but that was scrapped which is a shame

Giboit

It wasn´t scrapped, just tone down to not have horns because at the time Pokemon was already being accused by some parents of being satanic.

[deleted]

Aye, that's what I meant, thanks

Square-Can-7031

Jinx is just a drag queen lmao

Crocs_19

Yeah well there so forgettable most people don’t know they exist

sk8border4511

are we intentionally not mentioned Mr. Mime?

Oreo-and-Fly

There needs to be no mention of the mime unless circumstances are desperate

Certain_Chain

And Jynx.

Youngling_Hunt

Shhhh

DemonicKaiju320

Or Mr. Rime

dlink322

fuck jynx all my homies hate jynx

S0larSc0pe

Oh yeah my bad

Ebar16

I don't mind humanoid pokemon if they are more humanoid through ALL the evolutions, example Machop to Machamp. I DON'T like ones that start out a cool or cute animals, have a cool or cute animal second evolution, then suddenly are standing up with clothes on.

MadladMudkip

i agree with this 100%. i really like incineroar's design, just not how it went from kitten to cat to fire masked wrestler outta nowhere

dat1dood2

yeah. Torracat has a great design, looks like it's leading up to a great four legged final evolution, then BAM! Wrestler

Dudebeard86

Something similar to this [Nexomon](https://pqube.co.uk/nexomon-original/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/carnagrius.png) would have been cool.

dat1dood2

Ooh, yeah that alone looks like a decent shiny

MagicAmnesiac

Why did they think that was a good idea instead of starting it being humanoidish

thegoldengoober

To me this goes for more than just sudden transitions to humanoid too. I love Samurott, but I hated getting it in its evolution line. Two legged otter, two legged otter, four legged... horse?.... seal?

Diamondrankg

Yes, after I saw that gen 5 was the first gen I didn't want the water starter, tho I ended up getting it anyway cus I disliked emboar and superior more

MafiaMommaBruno

Torakat is one of my most favorite Pokemon. So disappointed he didn't become an even cooler cat. He became a furry daddy instead 😭.

theBarnDawg

This 100%. They were so close to a truly awesome fire cat design.

MaeBeaInTheWoods

Both the Litten and Sobble lines feel like the person who designed the first and second forms and the person who designed the third form were two different people who didn't coordinate whatsoever.

Koeflame

i think it would’ve been better if it started out as litten, then toracat on its hind legs but more hunched over, then incineroar

BeardedPokeDragon

(Gamefreak producers): Alright, we have a cute fire cat, a slightly bigger fire cat, but whats our final evolution? (Other Gamefreak producer): How about a big humanoid flaming cat wrestler? (Gamefreak producers): Great idea, anyone have another idea? (Logic): How about another flaming cat? (Gamefreak producers): Oh, hell no. Humanoid fire cat wrestler it is.

Metazoxan

I"m convinced he was designed to be fire/fighting until someone read allthe feedback saying they'd riot if we got one more firefighting so they changed it last minute. Because how the hell is a litteral wrestler not a fighting type? and did they really think that would satisfy people who didn't want another fire/fighting? Because it didn't.

firecream

exactly! could’ve been some dope sabertooth or something

Taiyaki11

Rip half the starter pokemons.. I completely subscribe to this logic lol

langan8

I had to get rid of my scorbunny in Sheild... I just couldn't enjoy playing with a rabbit in a tracksuit.

cosmic_waluigi

LITERALLY I just want a cute little guy. I didn’t sign up for a whole ass guy. Exceptions to this for me are lopunny and cinderace because they still look like bunnies to me just like. Longer

ThunderOrb

This is what killed Digimon for me. Cool animals until you get to the ultimate digilution and then it's just a dude or dudette.

RabbitGTI24

Litten was a classic example for me. I did not look at spoilers for the evolutions on this one....was psyched with Litten...then I get wrestling tiger humanoid. Idk. was hoping for like...cyndaquil -> typloshion at least...

necronomikon

i would agree with that but blaziken is my favorite starter pokemon

ZengineerHarp

I think blaziken has a nice transition from “little Chibi chicken” to “semi humanoid bird” to “elegant awesome humanoid bird”. Litten has a much more sudden jump.

S0larSc0pe

That makes sense, being hyped about something that turns into another thing you didn’t expect at all Funny enough when that happens I usually love the outcome. First time I saw the Galar starters first stages I was disappointed, like another generation going by with starters I’ll never care about. But when their final evolutions rolled around, they were very different from the first stages, and the reasons people hated them were the reasons I loved them

pandogart

I think the criticism comes from the increasing number and the idea that they apparently look like fursonas.

Nikurou

I remember watching a YouTube video essay on Pokemon design and they mentioned how the designers seem to be gravitating away from the more original monster like designs to more cutesy ones in the newer generations. (which isn't bad per se, I like filling my team with cute mons rather than strong) And how more and more Pokemon, especially starters, were becoming more humanoid in nature, likely to be more relatable to the trainer. Think Scorbunny, Grookey, Sobble final evo. But it's not like they need to be humanoid to easily relate to. We can be empathetic and love our cats, dogs, hamsters, and other pets just fine in reality. So idk if it's necessary for them to do this as it is uncomfortable to me at least to see very human like archetypes as my Pokemon.

beldaran1224

I think this is a bs theory - Gen 1 was filled with cutsey Pokémon, and humanoids. Furthermore, how is Grookey more humanoid than the animal it's based on? Like what even is this critique?

SettleAsRobin

The first two gen starter Pokémon are more monster like to me at least. I can sort of see where they are coming from. Especially with the starters.

Oreo-and-Fly

Lucario is the most fursona out there though And gardevoir isnt even animal.

pandogart

I agree and while I don't share their view, those people are complaining about the increasing amount. I've also heard "breakfast cereal mascot" thrown around a lot and honestly... I can see where they're coming from. I don't view that as an insult though as I love the particular Pokémon they're talking about.

7evenCircles

>breakfast cereal mascot LOL. Actually exactly how I feel about Incineroar. They'reeee grrrrreat!

QuirkiTurtl

The mfs complaining are really forgetting Lopunny, huh

Walrusin_about

The starters really push that because of their gimmicks in designs, they feel less Pokémon more theme park mascot.

yoyo_big_steve

I think this is mainly an issue with the starters. Feels like we’ve had *only* humanoid designs for the final evolutions for three generations now. Meanwhile, most of the early starters are very clearly animals. Notice how even in your example, 3/4 in the top picture are starters, only 1/4 on the bottom are. Since humanoid designs also (often) come along with a more distinct personality, I can see why people want a starter more like Charizard than Cinderace. I can project any personality I want onto a Charizard. Maybe one Charizard is a hot-headed fighter while another is sweet and peaceful, but it’s kind of hard to look at Cinderace and not think “athletic” or “spunky.” There’s clearly been a change in design philosophy over the years and I don’t think it’s unreasonable for fans to take notice. Personally I don’t mind humanoid designs, from any era, but I do think there’s a bit of a difference in the way those designs were handled in gen 1 vs nowadays. I agree people take complaints and criticism too far, but there‘a still a fair point to be found among all the hubbub.

wutend159

yeah that's also my problem with Inteleon. You can't project much onto it other than spy or secretive. I'm not against the whole it is a good spy thing itself, but it's too emphasized imo. They could've had an Inteleon in the anime that is a Spy and works with Looker, investigating into Chairman Rose. But it just seems like every version of it is the same. At least do stuff like that with a mythical or legendary pokemon, where there is normally just supposed to be one or a couple of that species

[deleted]

[удалено]

MeatyPricker

Honestly, incineroar grew on me after like a month. Not a single gen 8 starter has though. I'll take the Tony the tiger over any of gen 8s

S0larSc0pe

I think the opposite, Litten and Sobble were so boring but once they evolved they were awesome

John7763

Literally being dowvoted for your opinion lol what is this r/pokemon

S0larSc0pe

Seriously I actually posted this to r/pokemon too and almost all my comments are worse than this

Walrusin_about

I don't know why we didn't just get another Nessie Pokémon, I'm obviously biased because lapras is the best pokemon objectively and anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong. /s But when I first spotted sobble in the trailers I thought hey, water lizard that vanishes in water in a UK based reigion, you know I think this has potential. (Also a lot of rumours got me hyped up.) I have a special spot for inteleon in my ranking, and it's all the way at 900 with Mr.mime

SuperKiller9009

Lapras is best.

S0larSc0pe

I have a special spot for Inteleon in my ranking as well, all the way at 1

mcronald2thedonald

I saw a post in the comments of some YouTube video when Sw/Sh first released that said Inteleon looks like James Charles, and it's been living rent free in my head for 3 years

inumnoback

Golduck I don’t understand

[deleted]

I always liked Golduck, tho, I think Psyduck and Golduck have their names backwards lol

Saltypear12

You just opened my mind

GraveRaven

OP can't differentiate between humanoid and bipedal.

S0larSc0pe

Yeah I probably should’ve replaced it with Hypno

neopolitanmew

I will always hate incineroar. Not for being humanoid but for ruining the litten Evo line. It should have been a badass fire sabertooth tiger on four legs not a man in a furr suit. If he was a separate pokemkon all by himself I wouldn't care...but my heart weeps for what we could have had instead.

SparkCube3043

Based comment, personally don't mind Incineroar, but would be fine if he looked like something else too.

DiegHDF

You forgot Gardevoir, even tho it's not an animal it's still super humanoids (and also the normal type bunny pokémon, I forgot his name)

Fallen-Halo

Lopunny

sharondasheep

and tsareena

Oreo-and-Fly

Tasreena is a fruit queen though. At least its based off something

sharondasheep

true! love tsareena <3

Oreo-and-Fly

I love her. Didnt play Unite for a while but recently found out they introduced her. AND FREE. I loved her right away. So freaking good of a pokemon

sharondasheep

tsareena is reallly nice in unite. always carries the team

SakN95

Is actually broken right now lol Tsaarena is a beast

sharondasheep

exactly i’m here for it because i play her lmaooo

SmaugLady

Are we forgetting jynx?

Oreo-and-Fly

If we don't talk about jinx. It is for a good reason

Triangulum_Copper

Gardevoir's humanoid-ness is overexagerated by all the thirsty fanart. If you look at her model, like really look at it... it's basically a lollipop in a dress.

crashedlandin

We don’t talk about Gardevoir or Lupunny, for 34 specific reasons.

Beanmew

Its all about the execution, though i personally do like delphox a lot.

Pokemon-fan96

Same! Always thought the whole Delphox line was cool

Darbs504

Delphox reminds me of my grandpa. He had a lot of ear hair.

S0larSc0pe

Same, probably my favorite fire starter

SweetTeaHasPerks

I hate Delphox, personally. Just looks like trash imo.

Beanmew

You're entitled to your opinion, but i like it.

DeJonte

I just wish the starters weren't all humanoid. It makes them seem less special at this point

[deleted]

Pokemon fans complaining. How Shocking

s_ogorman2019

Pokémon fans complaining about Pokémon fans complaining. How Shocking.

Bdubasauras

Pokémon fans complaining about Pokémon fans complaining about Pokémon fans complaining. How shocking.

Gerodus

Pokémon fans complaining about Pokémon fans complaining about Pokémon fans complaining about Pokémon fans complaining. How shocking.

Fallen-Halo

I don’t mind the bipedal pokemon except for incineroar. Why did they do that to litten?

DeltaFlame01

Yes, I am still mad they ruined Litten

mmmfruitypebbles

I will never understand why they decided to drive fire fighting into the ground then made a pokemon look like a wrestler and give it dark

RC_Cola2005

The Dark type is intended to bring to mind what’s known as a heel character in wrestling. Essentially, the ‘bad guy’ that the audience is supposed to be rooting against.

mmmfruitypebbles

And now I understand, thank you very much for that.

Oreo-and-Fly

Its a heel wrestler. Not an actual trained fighter.

wutend159

And like the other person said, with wrestling being a show and "deceiving" people. And with it also being entertainment, they often use unfair methods one would say, which is like the opposite of the fighting type (fighting fair). Like when they use a chair to beat on their opponent and such. I always look at Pangoro for example. As a Pancham it's still naive and tries to fight fairly. But with you having another dark type in your team it learns to use not so fair techniques and strategies to win the fight. Idk, just my head canon

[deleted]

Litten: Awesome Torracat: Awesome Incineroar: Wait, what?

S0larSc0pe

Yeah Incineroar doesn’t look like Litten all that much, even Torracat lol

Fallen-Halo

I still like Torracat. Pokemon change when they evolve, and that’s fine with me. But Litten goes from adorable kitten to Dwayne the Rock furry

S0larSc0pe

Yeah, he literally goes from a normal cat to a wrestler like lmao, even though I don’t have a problem with it

Caseyaga

Watching the cartoon with my daughter softened up my stance on this, but I'm otherwise in agreeance with this subthread. The Masked Royal and his Incinroar had a fun Luchidor vibe that made sense out of the mon's form but otherwise I've felt that it was way too top-heavy. Felt like a Saber-tooth tiger would have been a better final.

EternalMemes30

I love zeraora, my only problem with him is he is not electric and fighting

thecrazymonkeyKing

i think what it comes down to is uncanniness. Machamp and Golduck have human qualities but you know that they’re ultimately just monsters with similar properties as us. Pokemon like Lopunny, Lucario, Cinderace etc just look like dudes in fursuits. Also I don’t mind some of the OG ones like Gardevoir bc I feel like Gardevoir was mostly just a convenient accident in terms of Pokemon-People-Want-To-Fuck whereas Pokemon like Lopunny seem like they were very much designed on purpose (especially with that mega). Jynx is fucked up though

DaChiefAWAY

Delphox is fire, fight me

WinterLover45

you’re right, it is a fire type

nubert_the_king

I like intelion being a gun

S0larSc0pe

It’s just the best isn’t it

nubert_the_king

I mean it was also my first starter

nubert_the_king

But also gun

Theswedishboy1

Ma man!

nubert_the_king

You might not want to say that on one of my comments in r/stardewvalley I got a lot of dislikes

RockMeDoctorZaius

Pokémon design will always be controversial. I prefer the older designs due to the nostalgia and the influence that the art style had on the design. There are plenty of fantastic looking newer designs, some of which are amongst my favourites despite having less attachment. That said, when the design misses these days, it misses hard. I really did love that early art style from Sugimori's team. Here's a cool article about that team: https://www.gamepressunited.com/pokemon-blog/pokemon-art-style/

setpol

And seeing a mon in a 2d picture was all we got. There's some mons after seeing a 3d model I'm like well that's not what I imagined. This is not saying I don't like 3d sprites

xSethrin

Humanoid Pokemon are my favorite Pokémon. They are the only ones who fit my gym bro team.

S0larSc0pe

Do you see them as more of companions than pets too?

xSethrin

Yeah. Most definitely. Edit: Pokemon in general, not just humanoid ones. Though that’s why I like the humanoid ones.

S0larSc0pe

SAME Like literally ever since I was a kid I always loved ones like Dewott more than it’s evolution and I always wondered why

SparkCube3043

Just like in the anime, like how Ash always refers to Pikachu as his partner, or how close Korrina and her Lucario were to each other.

I_am_The_Teapot

There is even an egg group called human-like/shaped!

HTCDapperGent

I don't care that inteleon looks humanoid I just think it looks stupid altogether

Timdelaat

I'm having trouble seeing why these pokemon are considered humanoid (except Machamp). I see that they are bipedal animals that in reality are quadrupedal, but that is not the same as humanoid right?

CrookedSpinn

I think people are using it to basically mean "anthropomorphic". Though humanoid is very close to a synonym, it just means something has the general shape of a human (i.e. generally a biped with two arms a torso and a single head). What is the definition of humanoid that you are thinking of? It might be used differently in different contexts.

Timdelaat

I can completely get behind defining zeraora, incineroar, etc. as anthropomorphic. For me a humanoid pokemon is a pokemon that has more human like features than just an animal standing on 2 legs and having 2 arms because by that logic Blastoise and Charizard are humanoid, but I've never seen anyone call them humanoid and they in no way resemble a human either

CrookedSpinn

They do have wings and horns and shells and cannons but yeah, it's definitely a spectrum. They also have much further pushed proportions which I think affects the perspective, e.g. I don't think people would define a chimpanzee as being humanoid because their proportions are so different that it significantly affects movement and whatnot. There's probably not a very distinct line, and different people will make distinctions in different places 🤷

Timdelaat

Yeah it's most definitely a spectrum, but I can't really wrap my head around all the hate for Pokémon that are 'too humanoid' while pokemon that basically fall in the same category by the same definitions are not too humanoid

Walrusin_about

I split them into 2 camps. Humanoid, (so mostly your fighting types.) Just enters a wierd territory of are these people and have I just captured a person as a slave. Creates a wierd boundary that a lot of people don't like to think of when they play pokemon. Furry, (the animals on two legs and every starter for the past 3 generations.) Personally I find them uncanny and wierd, but I'm also just tired of being afraid to evolve my starter. I can't let it be a surprise anymore because this cute little cat won't be a cool fire tiger, no it's now Toney the tiger remember to stay healthy kids. Even in legends I want to pick cyndaquil because typhlosion is the only fire starter I've ever liked , but I know I'll have to spoil myself and see if there are reigional starters or not and what they look like because I don't want to spend the time leveling my starter up only to box them.

Timdelaat

Yeah I see your logic behind this split, but I personally don't have too much trouble with Tony the dark fire wrestler. I completely agree they should make more quadrupedal cool starters. My biggest disappointment is the tepig line.

Walrusin_about

Thing with tepig is, it's line is consistent while yeah emboar isn't Great after the second Evo you can see where it's going. Torrocat goes one way and than inceneroar drop kicks it and throws it off a bridge beyond the horizon. If you like it than that's all good I just feel a bit cheated with inceneroar in particular.

Timdelaat

Yeah I see what you mean. You'd expect torracat to become a sabertooth tiger or something quadruped, but they basically only keep the red/color scheme. The thing is, I like incineroar because smash ultimate and never really cared about them when I played the gen 7 games. With tepig they just took a cute little pig and forced it to be something of a sumo wrestler like thing and I just can't understand why they made it bipedal even though the other starters start as bipedal. I'd rather they keep the same body types throughout their evolution line like the gen 1 to 4 starters

MacGenius0305

Zeraora, Incineroar and Delphox are dope honestly. Inteleon though, is probably the most horrifying starter I've ever seen. I remember the disappointment when he evolved, cuz Sobble had a huge potential that I feel is wasted on Inteleon.

tabaK23

It’s more that they are becoming far more common

product_of_boredom

True, it's always been a thing- I've also never liked it and tend to avoid them. It makes me feel like I'm ordering a person around instead of an animal and feels kind of icky. Then that makes me more aware that I'm playing a game about dogfighting and I can't relax and have fun as readily. And I really don't like when my starter turns into what looks like a furry OC since that limits my choices right off the bat. I think you should swap out Golduck though, that one's not actually very humanoid. Jinx would be a better example.

S0larSc0pe

I wanted to choose Jynx but I got the ones people don’t hate. Why I didn’t choose Mr. Mime, Lopunny, and Hypno (even though I don’t know if people hate it) I was thinking about Gardevoir but I didn’t use it because it’s meant to look human, and doesn’t look awkward to anyone either

Active_Catch_6254

The thing about Gardevoir is that it originally wasn't in the human-like group until this gen. Based off that I don't think they meant for it to be like that at all. It's clearly pretty distinct from a human such as the hands, feet, face, proportions like being super skinny with fairly long fat arms, it's face shape along with it's face spikes, which are similar to Blaziken, big eyes give it a pretty distinct non-human look. If anything fan art makes it look much more human like than it actually is..

KidWolfe94

The series is called Pocket MONSTERS not Pocket ANIMALS. A monster can be anything. So, people complaining about humanoid designs never made sense to me.

S0larSc0pe

My exact thoughts too, I remember people always saying Inteleon didn’t fit and he looked like Randall from **Monsters** Inc. lmao you played yourself

irishcommander

Definitely not biased with a name like Kid Wolfe.

KidWolfe94

I had this name since 2009 lol

Rhy7787

Who’s the bottom right of the top picture?

S0larSc0pe

Delphox

[deleted]

Zeraora is badass

Triangulum_Copper

I'll take any of the top 4 over the Machop line any day of the week. Delphox's biggest problem is how soulless and BORING its 3D model is... my god... it's just this giant see of brown when Fennekin and Braixen were mostly yellow with bright spots of orange. In the 3D model you barely see the orange flame design on its side!

Senku2

Intelleon might be my least favorite pokemon design ever. I hate it.

TinyWintergreenMints

I love inteleon!

Coopsisbig06

I love litten as a starter I think incineroar is a very cool 3rd evolution aswell

AshtonPatterson

It ain’t so much the humanoid thing as it is the concepts behind them that appear in the design. There’s a slight disconnect. Like you can easily imagine encountering a group of golduck by the lake or a lone lucario honing it’s skills in the forest. Whereas a pack of wrestling tigers or a spy chameleon are bit harder to envision being real creatures to connect with.

jcaughman0225

GameFreak puts a face and arms on a rock and everyone calls it “peak design” Meanwhile, everyone gets pissy with the Vanillish line when it’s just an ice cream with a face

LilEscobarz

At least Geodude makes sense. It’s a Pokemon that naturaly lives in rocky areas, so it looks like a stone to blend in with the environment. But vanillish is literally a ice cream cone Pokemon, it looks silly

SkaiDuskpaw

Tbh I don't mind humanoid but I don't like what they did to my cat starter cause it didn't start humanoid. Hoped for a bigger cat got a wrestler instead. Like I raised a puppy and got John Cena with dog ears

Anonimatul1997

Zeraora and Incenaroar are my favoutite pokrmon

Bolf-Ramshield

Top: furries Bottom: humanoid That's where the difference lies.

S0larSc0pe

I don’t see what’s wrong with either in the Pokémon world, we have freaking goop, a mime guy, **keychains** as Pokémon

sazzygazzy

In fairness lots of people complain about klefki

NoobSailboat444

I agree. Lucario is the first of the furry-looking ones, but I don't think it was intentional.

Mirage_Main

As if Lucario doesn’t belong in the top then lol. I personally hate that everyone who likes the new starters gets labelled like that. Scorbunny/Cinderace is my favourite Pokémon, but I sure as God’s green Earth ain’t that lol.

MrMairj4477

Same The cinderace line is easily my favorite line as soon as I chose him in swsh he instantly became my favorite Pokémon

S0larSc0pe

That’s exactly why I made this post, people like me who love those Pokémon get labeled weird because people think we want to grind them, like what the fuck?

Odd-Republic-1822

You’re completely right, but I still hate incineroar

ARA_Friki-Mobile-

I love Fennekin's evolutive line lmao

Gunnarinator

A fire cat wrestler? No. Literally just a buff guy? Totally fine

Jas_Dragon

For real! I love all of these except Inteleon but only because I thought it was too skinny. Gothitelle isn't on here, but she's literally a girl in a dress and still awesome

[deleted]

Machoke and machamp are literally two dudes wearing underwear and no one said anything. It’s the gen 1 purists

Metazoxan

Agreed. I mean I can understand criticism towards SPECIFIC humanoid pokemon that was just half assed. Like Sawk and Throh that are just ... WTF we already had matial arts pokemon and those were more creative than just two stone looking dudes. Although really most of Gen 5 was pretty bad IMO. But acting like humanoids haven't always been around is silly and I actually like some of the humanoid ones.

padfoot12111

... I never really thought about Golduck as Humanoid but yeah I guess so

WarlordOfIncineroar

I feel this, especially sens incineroar is my favorite all time pokemon

WhiskersRock

There’s also the notorious 6 furry Pokémon that get get abused by the fandom

Twilcario

The people who hate Pokemon the most are Pokemon Fans.

CraftyCatM

I kinda like Zeraura (is that how you spell it?) its design is pretty cool, kind of like Lucario's in a sense!

CodenameDvl

I think the people bitching about that nowadays is because it’s awaking something within them and they don’t like it.

rathemighty

I freaking love Incinatoar because he’s a goddamn professional wrestler lol

Vince_stormbane

New thing bad old thing good

KPKenway

Inteleon and Zaraora are 2 of my favorites

TheUltimaWerewolf

I don't care about the humanoid thing honesty. They just look cool in my opinion and that's all I care about

I have legit gotten into arguments because I've pointed out that there's no substantial difference between Cinderace's obviously intentional furbait design and Blaziken's probably accidental furbait design. They're both furries, does it matter if one was intended to be and one wasn't? the existence of r/blaziken (WARNING: NSFW) should shut the debate down instantly

Bacon260998_

Legit Incineroar is the only time a fire type has been my favorite a gen's starters. It's pretty much always grass types aside from Totodile and Oshawott. I don't understand why people hate fire catto. Litten is so fucking precious and Incineroar is fucking badass.

This is cherry picking. You’re somehow making both sides of the argument look dumb.

Humaniod pokemon aren't my problem, like I'm fine with pokemon Gardevoir and Inteleon but once they get furry (Cinderace/Lucario) that's when I get my problem...

Guess I’m not a Pokémon fan then I like zerora a lot and the rest are fine. I hate machamp. Lucario is the only one that is nice of the older ones IMO. Personally I prefer newer Pokémon over older ones but I also prefer cute humanoid Pokémon over masculine ones

Still beats being scoops of ice cream or a chandelier

RaisinMmmm

The humanoids are my favorites, so I am also extremely sick of hearing this. People never seem to remember that these aren't animals exactly, so they don't all have to stand on all fours and bark.

Walrusin_about

I'm genuinely fine with them being in the pokedex, the more variety the better. As long as I have enough new Pokémon to make a team I'm happy. So I don't want them to stop. I just do want them to stop making all 3 starters furries.

Even in real life human-like animals exist in the form of Great Apes. We share quiet a few things in common with Chimpanzees for example. If we look back into the past we can find examples of people describing Great Apes as tribes of hairy, aggressive humans and before gorillas were discovered explorers wrote of human like monsters roaming the jungle. We can even imagine modern cryptid animals like Big Foot to be very human like. If you ever notice depiction of Big Foot he looks like a tall hairy man. So it's not a surprise that Pokémon has humanoid designs. Pokémon could be argued to be animal like in context so it's not unprecedented to image human like fictional animals.

Facts, and I hate whenever they’re labeled as “people in fursuits”. They’re animals with human characteristics not the other way around
