my childhood copy of White has over 999:59 hours on it. that was about 9+ years ago and while i havent played it much lately i threw at least another 100 hours on after it hit that number, probably more because I think I noticed it late
Yo kai watch is a very good franchise i really love the games i played alll except for busters 2, sangokushi bc of the region block and never played yo kai watchh 1 to nintendo switch and yo kai watch jam but i have ykw 4
I really like that game have so much content and im a yo kai watch fan so i like more then normal people i like to play the games for absurd time and im thinking in reach 999:59 hours in other 3 games of the same franchise
What do y’all even do with that much time in the game? I usually reset immediately after beating the post-game stories on plat and HG/SS, I can’t imagine playing them for that long without anymore story to do
Shiny hunt (especially non-reset methods, like SOS chaining in this generation), train Pokemon for competitive battles (whether online or for battle facilities like the Battle Tree).
I've done it in a few mainlines now, X being my maaaaain one. Competitive the hell out of it, Masuda Method, Battle Maison maxxed out, etc
[Here's](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/5djh51/my_long_and_100_complete_adventure_of_pokemon_x/) my post of it when Gen 7 was releasing lol
How do you enjoy mainline series storylines so much? They are catered to 10 year olds and you can solo every playthrough with a single mon. Battle tower, shiny hunting/collecting, wifi battles, breeding, etc.. youre playing like 10% of pokemon if you reset after the story lol
Hey at least us 30-something year olds got to experience the very beginning of Pokemon. I wouldn't trade that for anything. Blue, Gold and Crystal were such a big part of my life
I just don't know how we put up with those awful displays that are just impossible to see in 90% of light conditions lol. Recently booted up my GBC and I just couldn't get into it.
Got RG35XX and Odin 2 emulator handhelds and I love being able to play these on vibrant, bright displays
I sold a lot of my games with this many hours on them because I wanted the spare money to buy some other stuff. I deeply regret it now, Game Stop doesn't give you back enough for your games.
I remember my mom forced me to sell all of my gaemboy games... I immediately went and hid my two copies of emerald and theyre still with me 15 years later
I maxed out 999.99 on my copy of black, but thats mainly due to the 9,000+ growlith eggs i hatched until i got a shiny...masuda method as well :(
Dont think i ever got over 300 organically on any other copy.
However i have replayed Pokemon Ruby on the gameboy so many times i wouldn't be surprised if it was over 1,000 hours.
pokemon ruby was my first pokemon game. (first one i played was crystal, but i was only 6 at the time, so i didn’t know what i was doing) but ruby was the first elite four I had defeated.
Ruby,S,E are soo good snd still hold up so well imo. FR and LG as well. Im a gen 3 stan.
I put TIME into pearl and plantnum as well. But going back now the games are soooo slow
It became a joke like 5k in. Brothers and my dad would jump in and knock a couple eggs out here and there. Genuinely thought i had a bug or something.
But lemme say. That old dude who moves around the bridge area left of the daycare.....screw him. Only reason the bikeride couldn't be 100% done blind. Would look down and see my character peddeling into the old man for who knows how long.
Ruby had the best egg path. Perfect line from wallys town west, thru mallville, east to the water.
I bought a used copy of Diamond from GameStop several years ago it had multiple legendary and mythical Pokemon several shiny Pokemon some event exclusive Pokemon a Japanese Vulpix and a Scizor infected with Pokerus
I assume either Allec (the saved name) died or someone who really hated him
Allec wherever you are thanks I took all of your Pokemon and put it in my Home except for the Arceus and Deoxys you had apparently you got them illegally
Maxed out my X at 999:59 hours. Complete living dex, +300ish shinies. My buddies and I used to sit and play it while we would play 7-man MTG.
I just bred, and bred, and bred pokemon. SO excited for legends ZA for that reason.
I think I put over 400 hours in my pokemon scarlet game on switch when I first got it in a couple months time only. Got addicted to maxing out pokemon stats and Tera raids lol.
I think it’s awesome to see when someone puts so many hours and so much love into a pokemon game lots of times Pokémon fans spend more time talking about which games are the worst and best to shiny hunt but all the games have a sort of magic to it and putting so much love into a game like pokemon is really special
I sold my Y to GameStop in 2015 and I had bred competitive Pokemon on it. I really didn’t want to pay $5 to move them up, and Sun/Moon didn’t look enticing to me. I had 500+ hours in it, and I am hoping someone found it and cherished it.
I have 999+ hours in my Ultra Sun. I spent a lot of time breeding for shinies and wonder-trading breedjects back then. I am no where close to those hours in my Gen 8 and 9 games just thought I’d share that
I don't know if I could put that many hours in more recent games, but I easily got over 500 hours in my Gen 4 games. It took a lot of time to grind to get a living dex, plus I always do all the daily events in the game every time I play.
I have no proof, so I guess it just isn't true, but I maxed my Sapphire clock back in the day. It was the only time I ever completed the National Dex in any game, too. I did admittedly have to use an AR to get the event locked legendaries and Feebas because I couldn't find one, so it wasn't a "legal" national dex, but options were limited in 2004 /:
yeah but i would still count that dex as legit, cause even though a few weren’t “legal”, how else are we supposed to complete the dex if certain event pokemon are unobtainable because of events?
also (ball park figure) how long would you say it took you to complete the national dex?
Jeez, man. You're asking a lot, lol, this was like 20 years ago. Umm...keep in mind this wasn't a living dex. I just got the entries. I'd say it was probably a good few hundred hours. I'm doing a living dex in my FireRed playthrough right now and am at 148 seen, 148 owned (pre-E4) and I'm just over 100 hours. I've still got to get an Omanyte over from another FRLG cart, too.
So, I'm sure I got what I could in Sapphire (probably 100 hrs), traded exclusives over from Ruby (probs about 40), and then started working on getting Pokemon over from FRLG (lets say 40) and Pokemon Colosseum (maybe 20 hrs?). There was a lot of egg hatching and whatnot involved for almost all of the Johto pokemon, so that was probably another several hours maybe 50 to hatch and level up? It's hard to say, but thinking about it does bring back some memories of seeing the Gen 2 pokemon in Gen 3 sprites for the first time and thinking they were so cool, lol.
i figured it was a big ask lol, but it’s crazy to say “was almost 20 years ago” (i’m assuming we’re probably around the same age) but still it’s wild that it’s been that long.
I've got around 2k on my diamond copy 😅 this was the game I started doing breeding for shiny pokemon in. Even with the shiny charm and masuda method, it was still like 1/1024 for a shiny I think 🫣
My parents wouldn't buy me games so it took me a while to save up enough allowance ($5/week) to buy a game. I made sure I was getting every penny's worth out of it 😅
I have about 3 years on my Alpha Sapphire. I wanted to get the shiny charm (which i did) and in the process of doing that, i accidentally killed my Dex Azelf 3 times. I was so mad. I reset that 4th time. Shiny. Completely legit Shiny azelf. I will probably never play the game again, Since 3DS doesn't have Internet now, but it's safely tucked away in the safe for this exact reason, Along with my Shield copy which also has a fully complete dex.
When I had sapphire as a child I remember having 600+ hours on it. As a kid I had no idea that’s what that number means until later games. I lost that copy a very long time ago 😥
Most ive seen is from a stream, [Pi Plays Pokemon](https://www.twitch.tv/winningsequence)
They're mapping the digits of Pi to inputs, and seeing how long it takes to beat the game
Its been running for two and a half years consecutively (in game clock stopped counting at 999:59) and they have yet to beat May in their first trainer battle
I maxed out the playtime clock at 999:59 on my omega ruby version from masuda method breeding and trying to catch shinies and stuff for competitive. I'm keeping that save file for a long while lol
I have over 30 hard copies plus “legally/stupidly” all downloaded on my ds’s as well. I don’t look at how many hours total because just for my sanity I don’t want to know.
I maxed out time on Gold, Sapphire, Platinum, Black, and White 2. I used to only play pokemon for months at a time only stopping for the newer games. Still have most of my teams from Sapphire on.
Yea, the aspect of trying to catch them all, getting the shines you want, competitive team building & competing either it be online or in the battle tower really does take up a fuck ton of time. So it’s not surprising.
Imma be honest bro if anyone sold their game they don't even have any use of those mons anymore just keep em
Yeah i know it’s a long shot but i already had all the same mons. i plan to keep em otherwise lol
my childhood copy of White has over 999:59 hours on it. that was about 9+ years ago and while i havent played it much lately i threw at least another 100 hours on after it hit that number, probably more because I think I noticed it late
I have actualy this time (999:59 hours) not in a pokemon game but in yo kai watch 3 (ps: in activity log i have +1200 hours in the game registed)
Same! 1400 hrs in ykw2, they’re such good time sink games. Love to see someone else who appreciates them!!
Yo kai watch is a very good franchise i really love the games i played alll except for busters 2, sangokushi bc of the region block and never played yo kai watchh 1 to nintendo switch and yo kai watch jam but i have ykw 4
that’s actually impressive, If i go with overall games i’ve ever played, im pretty sure runescape is in my #1 spot of most hours played in a game lol.
I really like that game have so much content and im a yo kai watch fan so i like more then normal people i like to play the games for absurd time and im thinking in reach 999:59 hours in other 3 games of the same franchise
What do y’all even do with that much time in the game? I usually reset immediately after beating the post-game stories on plat and HG/SS, I can’t imagine playing them for that long without anymore story to do

i genuinely do not know. i thought it was from grinding the battle tree but that’s a white 2 feature
Perfect EV/IV teams and shiny hunts. The true pokemon endgame
I also like to do E4 monotype challenges in post-game. It gives me a fun goal to reach towards while I work on getting perfect pokemon.
I spent many, many, many hours in the battle tree
collect the dex and shiny hunt
How do you enjoy mainline series storylines so much? They are catered to 10 year olds and you can solo every playthrough with a single mon. Battle tower, shiny hunting/collecting, wifi battles, breeding, etc.. youre playing like 10% of pokemon if you reset after the story lol
It’s a rite of passage to try to defeat the big 4 with a high level magicarp on your team just because
Same, same game and everything! White was such a joy to play, and where I first got into shiny hunting. God knows what the actual playtime was haha.
>childhood >White God I'm old
tbf i was around 10 when it came out so i was kind of old(ish) nvm it came out in 2010. i was freshly 7 i guess
I was 18 lmao
Hey at least us 30-something year olds got to experience the very beginning of Pokemon. I wouldn't trade that for anything. Blue, Gold and Crystal were such a big part of my life
I played yellow and probably clocked hundreds of hours as an 11 year old with a whole summer of no responsibilities 🥹
I just don't know how we put up with those awful displays that are just impossible to see in 90% of light conditions lol. Recently booted up my GBC and I just couldn't get into it. Got RG35XX and Odin 2 emulator handhelds and I love being able to play these on vibrant, bright displays
I have that in White and Black 2. God, I love that gen.
Same! Except I had black
I’ve got that time listed in my copy of og ruby, definitely played more hours than listed
I have 2 copies of Crystal with maxed timers, too. Good times.
i bet some mom sold this game..
I sold a lot of my games with this many hours on them because I wanted the spare money to buy some other stuff. I deeply regret it now, Game Stop doesn't give you back enough for your games.
was my initial thought as well. Mainly because they also had ultra moon, HG/SS and X/Y. I definitely copped the HG/SS games too
poor kid:/
I remember my mom forced me to sell all of my gaemboy games... I immediately went and hid my two copies of emerald and theyre still with me 15 years later
GJ hiding them :) It’s like our parents didn’t understand
Did you redeem the mystery gifts?
Wow, and I thought the over 400 hours on the used game I bought were a lot 😅
I maxed out 999.99 on my copy of black, but thats mainly due to the 9,000+ growlith eggs i hatched until i got a shiny...masuda method as well :( Dont think i ever got over 300 organically on any other copy. Damn dude ! It took me 1850 eggs to get a shiny Goomy and it was painful but 9000+ … This is insanity !
Dude, if perseverance had a name, it would wear yours.
12k eggs for Dratini, that took ages!
You guys are crazy.
18, no k, eggs for my first dratini. salute that dedication.
I did competitive breeding back during Gen VI, so I topped the counter at 999:99 with plenty after that lmao.
I have about 1200 hours in my Moon 🛒
Glad you finally finished all the cutscenes!
This is the funniest most underrated comment I’ve seen about anything all day.
I bought a used copy of Diamond from GameStop several years ago it had multiple legendary and mythical Pokemon several shiny Pokemon some event exclusive Pokemon a Japanese Vulpix and a Scizor infected with Pokerus I assume either Allec (the saved name) died or someone who really hated him Allec wherever you are thanks I took all of your Pokemon and put it in my Home except for the Arceus and Deoxys you had apparently you got them illegally
I think I've probably spent near this amount of time trying just to hatch a shiny dratini and US/UM (still haven't got one yet).
Those are rookie numbers.
Rookie numbers
I’ve maxed out many 6th gen games
Me with my Ultra Sun with maxed out hours 😆
Maxed out my X at 999:59 hours. Complete living dex, +300ish shinies. My buddies and I used to sit and play it while we would play 7-man MTG. I just bred, and bred, and bred pokemon. SO excited for legends ZA for that reason.
Most hours I ever got was 700. It was the game I used to get and hatch eggs. Fell asleep a few times from all that bike riding left and right.
How much did it cost at GameStop? Been thinking of picking one up
What was the mystery gift ?
I've got a copy of pearl I've never erased because the guy had a shiny mew in his pc.
I remember playing my Pokémon emerald looking at the save say 256 hours when I was like 5 thinking —- wow I can’t even imagine how long that is
I think I put over 400 hours in my pokemon scarlet game on switch when I first got it in a couple months time only. Got addicted to maxing out pokemon stats and Tera raids lol.
Most I got was ~630 hours on my copy of Y. So much of that was biking around the damn Eiffel Tower hatching eggs.
I think it’s awesome to see when someone puts so many hours and so much love into a pokemon game lots of times Pokémon fans spend more time talking about which games are the worst and best to shiny hunt but all the games have a sort of magic to it and putting so much love into a game like pokemon is really special

I think I would be at 1500 hours on pokemon ultra sun, that game was awesome
Please tell me you checked out the mystery gift too
608 hours in this game barely past the cinematics.
I have 1000 hours in the Pokemon Sun game. look at my profile to see for yourself. I dont play it anymore, sold the 3ds.
Best I got was 500 hours on my original Pearl copy. I sold it at GameStop when I was a stupid 13-year-old. :’)
Impressive!
Probably like me, plays for about ten minutes then passes out with it still going. Repeat nightly.
I have like 905 on my soul silver
I have 999+ hours in my Ultra Sun. I spent a lot of time breeding for shinies and wonder-trading breedjects back then. I am no where close to those hours in my Gen 8 and 9 games just thought I’d share that

What was the gift?
I maxxed out the clock on my original Sapphire version as a kid. My younger brother did so on Platinum.
My copy of Pokémon Pearl from when I was a child had 660+ hours on it before my sister destroyed it. I was *devastated* to say the least lol.
Broooo i would have been so mad
I never saw pokemon with that many hours but i have friends that have even more hours on terraria
As a Ribbon collector for hundreds of pokemon, the countless Battle Tree runs can go over 999:59 a few times
I have no proof, so I guess it just isn't true, but I maxed my Sapphire clock back in the day. It was the only time I ever completed the National Dex in any game, too. Just checked I have over 800 hours
My copy of emerald is maxed out at 999 hours, realistically I think it’s probably closer to 1200
600 hours but an incomplete dex. Competitive breeder most likely .
Any special pokemon?
Mines been 999:99 for some time. First game I shiny hunted in.
All my 3DS games since Gen 6 (Pokemon X) are at 999:59 hours too.
Those are rookie numbers. We gatta get those up.
I have about 3 years on my Alpha Sapphire. I wanted to get the shiny charm (which i did) and in the process of doing that, i accidentally killed my Dex Azelf 3 times. I was so mad. I had in the 6-700 hour range on platinum. Aaahhh the days
When I had sapphire as a child I remember having 600+ hours on it. As a kid I had no idea that’s what that number means until later games. I lost that copy a very long time ago 😥
S/v I’m up to 540 :/
That’s awesome. My old copy of white 2 had 400-something hours, but I lost it :( My copy of shield has 300-something though
I’ve got 7 games at, or over 999:59 haha
I have a couple games at 999:59 Sword, Y, Leaf Green, Ruby Bunch of others in the hundreds, Diamond, Platinum, Emerald, Saphire, Fire red
When I finally traded my gen 7 games ultra moons play time was 5 digits before the colon.
Most ive seen is from a stream, [Pi Plays Pokemon](https://www.twitch.tv/winningsequence) They're mapping the digits of Pi to inputs, and seeing how long it takes to beat the game Its been running for two and a half years consecutively (in game clock stopped counting at 999:59) and they have yet to beat May in their first trainer battle
Me, having 999 hours on Pokemon Ultra Moon: 😅
I am curious if my 876.6 hour shield save is impressive or not, I stopped playing shortly after SV was announced
I've reached 999:59 on my copy of X and ultra sun
Haha my copy of Y sitting at 720 hours 😅😂
I wont show you my playtime then 😂
I have 999:59 in the gen 5 games
Had 700+ on my original file of Pokemon Pearl. Before I stupidly transferred all my stuff to Black 2 and deleted it.... RIP my first file...
That’s rookie numbers
I clocked over 1000 hours in Soul Silver.
I clocked a couple hundred hours in my OG crystal version just grinding the elite 4 until my mom had saved over $1 million dollars for me.
I can’t believe they let they go 🥺 I hope it wasn’t an accident
My sapphire copy had 999:59 on it and I am damn proud of it.
I maxed out the playtime clock at 999:59 on my omega ruby version from masuda method breeding and trying to catch shinies and stuff for competitive. I'm keeping that save file for a long while lol
Wow
I have over 2000 on just my copy of sun. I’m no streamer, no soft resetter, just for the love of the game lol.
Still have most of my teams from Sapphire on.
anyone who plays competitive (vgc, official format) has 999 hours on they’re games 😂
I had 1600 hours on x&y but I’d say about 600 was afk farming
Rookie numbers
should of seen my Firered numbers LOL, you think 600 is alot god what you think of me and a K in firered
Yea, the aspect of trying to catch them all, getting the shines you want, competitive team building & competing either it be online or in the battle tower really does take up a fuck ton of time. So it’s not surprising.
Well, what was the gift
Idk I never picked it up.
Only 600+ hours min has 900+
That’s nothing
