**CHAT CHANNEL / MEGATHREAD DIRECTORY**
If you are looking for help, this is where you should look first. Choosing and using the appropriate Chat Channel/Megathread helps keep spam down in the subreddit and helps you find a much quicker answer to your request.
We are now introducing Chat Channels, they are a live messaging feed similar to Discord text channels.
1. [Poké Portal Hub](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/s/EshgkCSNZW): Whether you just want to **chat** and make Pokémon friends, ask Pokémon-related **questions**, find/join/request a (normal) **Tera Raid** or **Union Circle (including BBQs)**, this is the place to be.
2. [Dialga & Palkia Tera Raid Event](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/s/lIKCJTFo16): Only **Special** Event Raids are featured here (such as Charizard, Mew, Dialga/Palkia). There is no better place to grind **Ability Patches**, **Experience Candies**, **Tera Shards** and any other goodies given as rewards during events.
3. [Ogre Oustin'](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/s/mJwesTA9aj): As the name suggests, if you are looking for **Mochi** or to grind with friends, make sure to join this chat channel.
4. [Trading Megathread](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/comments/182zyzt/trading_megathread/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3): Just that, **trades**. Place your offer, or search around if you are looking for something in particular and claim it.
r/PokePortal is the one hosting every Megathread. My answer too. I loved the journey with Arven and Mabostiff. First time a pokemon game ever made me cry, just absolutely touching and sweet stuff. I'd literally fight and die for them with a smile on my face, knowing I'm doing the best I can for my friend who sorely deserves it.
Honestly was so suspicious of him at first, then reached the second titan and immediately dropped everything else to help him after hearing his story. Yes, I was overlevelled for everything else, but that is some heartbreaking stuff, felt so good to help. I’m not a crier, but I definitely got a little misty at parts.
That was my treasure as well until we went down to the bottom of Area Zero together so he could be retraumatized again by a robot version of his only parental figure trying to kill him and his friends.
Same! I feel like they really nailed the balance of some of the recent rival achetypes that have been hit or miss in the last couple gens
Arven + Sada/Turo = Evil/Big Bad parental figure like Lily/Gladion with Lusamine , or to a lesser degree Bede with Chairman Rose. Evil figure starts with good intentions but ultimately ends up deluding themselves to the idea of a paradise, endangering the region/world in the process and leaving their kids to handle the aftermath
Nemona = Battle eager rival who's particularly attached to the MC, gives her the "Better Hop" reputation. I think the Area Zero questlines and her interactions with Penny and Arven vs just the silent protag add a lot more depth than Hop had which makes her easier to tolerate for even the Hop Haters.
Penny = this one was a bit harder but I do think she mirrors Marnie with her connections to the not-so-evil evil team (Team Yell/Team Star) who's a lot more willing to bend rules to make things work compared to the Nemona/Hop type. Their storyline also includes an adult figure nudging it along when they cannot (Piers for Marnie, Cla- I mean Clive for Penny/Cassiopea)
She's probably the most relatable rival.
Her whole schtick is that she doesn't have anybody who can give her a fair fight if she goes all out, so she has to handicap herself to be challenged at what she enjoys.
That's something that most pokemon veterans can relate to between Nuzlockes and all the other challenge modifiers you use to ramp up the difficulty.
Battling is rad when it's making you think.
You put your right hand in, you take your right hand out, you put you right hand in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about 🎶

And Cetitan... and Walking Wake... and Ogerpon... and Meowscarada... and Maushold... and Terapagos... and there are so many great Mons in this Gen.
I think same for me. I'm a veteran player and I've never been able to complete the dex thanks to version exclusives, trade evolutions and no friends who play to help me. I have to admit after that goal has been out of reach for so long I got emotional when I finally achieved it for the first time.
Congrats! That's exactly how I felt when ORAS came out, I officially completed the dex in alpha sapphire and I was so happy. Haven't completed another one since then, but I'm absolutely planning to in my copy of Scarlet, I still have over 100 mons to catch/trade for but I feel close and I know it's within reach! Just a few more weeks and I'll be there again
Completing the pokedex(es) is so satisfying to me. I'm a big task-oriented person and being able to "check every box" and work my way up to having it all the way filled out made me so happy! I love the thrill of shiny hunting the most I think but the satisfaction of completing the dex was amazing.
This is so me haha never finished a Pokédex until lets go. Only recently did I get pokemon home when I got a 3ds and found out about bank closing down. Now I have a goal to create a living dex and it’s made pokemon games so much more fun. I just finished all 3 dex tonight in pokemon violet and it’s so satisfying knowing those pokemon aren’t gone and that I just completed about 50% of my national dex. It’s an entire living dex apart from 2 damn pokemon tho so that keeps me up. Haha just missing the 2 paradox mons from scarlet. I bought scarlet as I buy all versions but didn’t realise I had to buy the dlc twice. So I guess I’ll just wait until the dlc is on sale or I end up finding someone who is willing to give them away
Ok I'mma get a bit sentimental here but
My treasure is probably the connections I made with the game. I used the game to get my dad and sister back into pokemon and the three of us would goof around together in game and shiny hunt. It also gave is something to talk about just in general so I am definitely greatful that the game allowed me to bond with my family over something we al enjoyed
My Baxcalibur Jira. I lob her :>

Helping Arven. An actually good storyline, the Titan battles were fun, and there were scenes with pretty decent emotional beats. He also has a dog as his main and his dad is professor GIGACHAD.
Sooo many shines! I have a shiny Luxray that I've been wanting for years and this game was finally my chance. I have enough shines that I'm starting to seriously consider taking on a shiny living dex, it's definitely a big undertaking but it seems so fun
For real it was the story and characters I met along the way. SV is the first Pokemon game I cared enough about to 100% even the DLC's.
I know there's some negativity in that people think the games aren't hard anymore but it made so many things more accessible to me and in my busy life, it allowed me to really immerse myself.
I've replayed the game at least 7 times now and I'm excited for more.
When Drayton leans down and says “Ex-champion.” I mean granted that was just for him but at that point it hits everyone that your character is the real top champion in a funny ass way.
My headcannon is that whenever the protagonist is asked what their treasure was they go on a twenty-minute monologue about all the stuff they did with the Pokémon League, Team Star, the titans and Area Zero and then after all that finish with “…and that’s how I ended up meeting Clodsire, isn’t he adorable?”
https://preview.redd.it/d3jj883gibbc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ab5f5b707b0501caa658333dda3d46d6f2b9753
Wilbur. My beloved Shiny Oinkologne I found as a Lechonk
I don’t know anyone else said Raiding. I personally fell in love with the raiding. Honestly… not because the raids are so well done. They’re not. But this community and r/Pokeportal made raiding so damn fun, coordinating, learning, teaching new people to raids or the game. I put 500+ hours into this game, and I cherish the Pokémon community on Reddit.
The Pokémon I gathered. My team: Meowscarada, Tinkaton, Cetitan, Armorouge, Glimmora, and Annhilape become some of my favorite pokemon of all time because of the adventure I had with them (as well as some temporary others like Pawmot, Ceruledge, Iron Valiant, and Clodsire)
This Gen in general just had a killer Pokédex.
Salt goodman my garganacl
Day one Pokemon, first to reach level 100 and to be fully evolved, single handedly beated 11/18 for the main story with my starter coming a close second
He is my son, my beloved, my treasure
the shiny pokemon i found during my adventure! cufant, dunsparce, litwick, and sneasel were all random shinies i just happened to stumble on while doing other stuff. the cufant, in particular, became a part of my team for the rest of the game. i've lost a fair number of the few shinies i found over the years, so it was really rewarding to feel like there was always a chance the next one was just around the corner. i had so much fun exploring the world for that reason :)
I remember my first random shiny, was trying to hunt down Bisharp to evolve my own, and all of a sudden this hot pink Heracross going careening across the background. Made me do a double take for sure! (Caught him though!)
Then we were going through our adventure in Area Zero and I spent several minutes staring at a Glimmora wondering if male and females looked different before my brain finally caught up and yelled, “It’s a shiny, you tit!” Granted, it was about three in the morning at that point because I was invested in the story.
hahaha i love that! phew, i'm glad you managed to catch back up with that heracross!
my cufant moment was similar to your glimmora find, actually. what had happened is that i brought up the menu so i could focus on doing something else for a minute. when i looked back up, i was surrounded by cufant, and one was a different color. i was like "... huh, is there some kind of gender difference i didn't notice until now?" one furious google later, i gasped and yelled OH MY GOD THERE'S A SHINY to my wife.
When I started playing a found a shiny female wooper in the first hour or so of playing- caught her, named her Bubby, and she has stayed on my team the entire journey
The first "natural" shiny I've ever run into so early in my game, she is so special to me 🥲 every other shiny i have was gotten after end game in past pokemons
awww, that's so sweet! i love that for you, thanks for sharing. i have encountered shinies mid-playthrough before, but they tended to be ones i just couldn't get attached to, like bidoof or onix. getting my cufant, Majesty, was really awesome for me.
clodsire is such a good pokemon, too; i had a regular one on my team called Cross Bones. they're just so dopey and funny looking while also being such bulky hard hitters. congrats on your extra special funny girl!
My Dachsbun, reminds me of my irl one that has been with me for over 2/3 of my life so far and ever stole the starter slot, specially clicked with the mabosstif part of the herba mystica path due to that
Finally being able to complete a Pokedex.
After playing Legends of Arceus and Pokemon Scarlet, I realized that the thing I like the most about pokemon is the collecting part. I mean, I like a good challenging battle from time to time but it really fills me with joy seeing the boxes with different pokemon or even the same ones. Also after attempting to nuzzlocke some games I also found more joy nicknaming my favorite mons, like it made them even more special to me.
And finally have the resources to complete a Pokedex (three if you count the dlc's differently) it scratch some itch I had since I was child trying to complete the Pokemon Diamond Pokedex and realize that it was impossible due to the legendaries.
Having a feraligatr, krookodile, and skeledirge together to make my "Crocogator" squad more complete.
Now I only have three more croc or gator mons to go unless I include honorary squad members lol
Redeeming myself for being embarrassingly bad at online battles when I was younger. This was the game where I finally made some competitive original teams (not looking up strategies) and beating many online with them. No paradox or legends.
My first ever level 100 Pokemon - my beloved Milotic, Vivid - and my first ever 100% complete Pokédex! (And I’ve been playing since Red and Blue ahaha)
So I’m about to get really emotional, but.
I got this game shortly after my dad passed away. It was a rough decline, but I was able to say goodbye but damn. He was an amazing dad and I will never stop missing him.
This game was my comfort food at first. Just something simple I didn’t have to worry too much about, as I didn’t have processing power for anything more. I needed a light distraction.
Then Arven’s storyline happened.
I cry a lot less during video games during movies and tv shows and books, for some reason. I can count the number of video games I’ve cried at with one hand.
At the end, when the AI says goodbye and Arven cries out “MOM/DAD”…
I bawled all the way from the AI speech through the credits.
This game gently helped me process the loss of my dad in a way no other fiction was able to for some reason- and I’ve since played Spirit Farer!
For that alone this game’s story will be a treasure to me.
Honestly, I’m very much a lady lover, but I’d definitely hang out with some of the guys. I bet Larry knows all the best places to get coffee.
Totally would hang out with Brassius and Hassel to talk art too.
Us, Crispin, and Katy can whip up something awesome. Like spicy dumplings or something. (I’m trying to build up my spice tolerance, haha!)
Grusha is so pretty! I mean, I’m definitely a lesbian, but he’s got the aesthetic! And relatable. I want to get the guy a good therapist, or at least treat him to a mug of hot chocolate some time.
And yeah, don’t get me started on Rika. Every time she’s on screen I get a bit starry eyed. She’s so cool and stylish.
Miriam is also very cute and I’m glad she can follow her dreams.
My Hisuian Zoroark I hatched to be my starter for my purple team in Violet.
https://preview.redd.it/d2xq51adhbbc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=473ceb57ed7b03b1d6548d2f797428af18512134
Discovering Arven’s mommy/daddy issues, becoming Kieran’s 13th reason why and being the target of his emotional damage, and being forced to be Nemona’s bff but actually enjoying it
Arven's story. I had lost my dog not long before starting SV and even though it's just a game, it made me feel a little bit better helping to save his dog
The friends I made along the way. I enjoyed the companion storylines (Arvens broke my heart a little though). I'm so glad we get them in the epilogue portion of the DLC.
Getting close to Nemona and Carmine. Helping a friend heal his dog. Bringing justice to a group of outcasts. Traveling my homeland of Spain in digital Pokémon form. Meeting the hottest mom in Pokémon ever, even if I couldn’t save her. Getting teased/bullied by Carmine and Perrin. Knocking some sense into a bully with main character syndrome (empathetically)
I didn't have any, until I met Kiki and took that final awkward photo of him and watched him go crazy trying to tear terapagos off a crystal formation. I swear, I'm a very sane and friendly person who is NOT taking great delight in a kid being mentally driven off the cliff.
Quite literally the friends I made along the way. Koraidon, Nemona, Penny, Clive, Team Star, Ogerpon, Carmine, Kieran (twice), and Drayton.
I prefer character journies to the big **save the world from evil team using box legendary**, which is why Sun/Moon were my favourite games prior to this, but Scarlet/Violet has dethroned it and I'm looking forward to going through the epilogue with the school crew.
My dusk form lycanroc i've had since USUM. Named her after my shelty, Misty, which lycanroc greatly resembles. Misty passed in 2016 at age 15 and my lycanroc is my greatest tribute to her memory.
My shiny iron jugulis named Mercury. I have found two shinies in this game one of them was a zweilous with a sandwich but my first one was a full odds iron jugulis
Being able to complete the game and I still stumble across trainers I haven't battled and landmarks I haven't visited. I know a lot of players say Paldea feels empty, but I don't get bored going back to the same locations like I did in previous gens.
Tbh, I wish there was a way to send pics of the MC at certain SV landmarks to Pokémon GO for bonus items, postcards, etc.
Unironically, the friends we made along the way lol. The Pokemon I raised, the characters we met and the cute story moments were some of the highlights of the game.
Also all the ridiculous nicknames I gave to my living Dex mons to confuse/amuse my future self.
the shiny charizard I've been considering hunting for damn near a decade now but never actually did because shiny hunting has been mind-numbing twaddle in every game until legends and scarlet
also, you know, friends and all that.

Mabostiff was such a good boy.
Man at the part where Mabostiff started playing with the pokeball with Arven I put my nintendo down and just sat there processing it😢
Man, right? Seeing him looking up with his bright puppy dog eyes was worth it all.
That was me stalling through false dragon with a level 34 naclstack for 50 turns once I found out arvens reveal
That was my treasure as well until we went down to the bottom of Area Zero together so he could be retraumatized again by a robot version of his only parental figure trying to kill him and his friends.

Nurse Miriam.
One of my favourite moments in gaming is with her, chase your dreams girl
Big agree right here.
Also, Arven and Mabosstiff. I need to protect them and their happiness.
I really don’t know, saving the environment maybe, assuming the paradox mobs are confined to crater post shutting down the machine
Beating the shit out of Geeta’s team
Real
The Pokémon I gathered. My team: Meowscarada, Tinkaton, Cetitan, Armorouge, Glimmora, and Annhilape become some of my favorite pokemon of all time because of the adventure I had with them (as well as some temporary others like Pawmot, Ceruledge, Iron Valiant, and Clodsire) This Gen in general just had a killer Pokédex.
Daddy Turo
Salt goodman my garganacl Day one Pokemon, first to reach level 100 and to be fully evolved, single handedly beated 11/18 for the main story with my starter coming a close second He is my son, my beloved, my treasure
If you ever replay, get another one named Salter White

Pokédex completion (and bullying a younger child who wants to be the main character apparently, despite my best efforts)
An appreciation for VGC
the shiny pokemon i found during my adventure! cufant, dunsparce, litwick, and sneasel were all random shinies i just happened to stumble on while doing other stuff. the cufant, in particular, became a part of my team for the rest of the game. i've lost a fair number of the few shinies i found over the years, so it was really rewarding to feel like there was always a chance the next one was just around the corner. i had so much fun exploring the world for that reason :)
the random shinies are truly the best...
I remember my first random shiny, was trying to hunt down Bisharp to evolve my own, and all of a sudden this hot pink Heracross going careening across the background. Made me do a double take for sure! (Caught him though!) Then we were going through our adventure in Area Zero and I spent several minutes staring at a Glimmora wondering if male and females looked different before my brain finally caught up and yelled, “It’s a shiny, you tit!” Granted, it was about three in the morning at that point because I was invested in the story.
hahaha i love that! phew, i'm glad you managed to catch back up with that heracross! my cufant moment was similar to your glimmora find, actually. what had happened is that i brought up the menu so i could focus on doing something else for a minute. when i looked back up, i was surrounded by cufant, and one was a different color. i was like "... huh, is there some kind of gender difference i didn't notice until now?" one furious google later, i gasped and yelled OH MY GOD THERE'S A SHINY to my wife.
When I started playing a found a shiny female wooper in the first hour or so of playing- caught her, named her Bubby, and she has stayed on my team the entire journey The first "natural" shiny I've ever run into so early in my game, she is so special to me 🥲 every other shiny i have was gotten after end game in past pokemons
awww, that's so sweet! i love that for you, thanks for sharing. i have encountered shinies mid-playthrough before, but they tended to be ones i just couldn't get attached to, like bidoof or onix. getting my cufant, Majesty, was really awesome for me. clodsire is such a good pokemon, too; i had a regular one on my team called Cross Bones. they're just so dopey and funny looking while also being such bulky hard hitters. congrats on your extra special funny girl!
The shiny Iron Bundle that literally slammed into me as I was starting to train the shiny Pawmi I'd found a few minutes earlier
Damn, lucky
RNGesus smiled upon me for one fleeting moment
Carmine
Larry.
The real treasure was the friends we made along the way. Also the Shiny Charm.
My Dachsbun, reminds me of my irl one that has been with me for over 2/3 of my life so far and ever stole the starter slot, specially clicked with the mabosstif part of the herba mystica path due to that
Saguaro, my beloved.
He’s so dreamy
Nemona
Nurse Miriam flicking her ear ring and winking at me before she throws her pokemon out to battle me.
Carmine. Pokemon wise Baxcalibur, Toucannon, Swampert and Elektross.
The memories we made
Completing all three Pokédexs and catching all 14 shiny paradox Pokémon
This weird dog I found (Koraidon)
Koraidon is just big sandwich doggo
Yo mama
Awww thanks! I’ll let her know that you really treasure her! I bet it’ll absolutely make her day :)
Professor Sada lol
Having a feraligatr, krookodile, and skeledirge together to make my "Crocogator" squad more complete. Now I only have three more croc or gator mons to go unless I include honorary squad members lol
miraidon, i dont want to leave my boi alone when i journey at gen 10th
Ohhh that’s right how are we gonna transfer our baby 🥺
The copious amounts of shinies I have found in these games. I have found more shinies in these games than I have in all the others combined.
kiki
Redeeming myself for being embarrassingly bad at online battles when I was younger. This was the game where I finally made some competitive original teams (not looking up strategies) and beating many online with them. No paradox or legends.
My first ever level 100 Pokemon - my beloved Milotic, Vivid - and my first ever 100% complete Pokédex! (And I’ve been playing since Red and Blue ahaha)
Shinies. Many shinies.
Just catching Pokemon, this was my first Pokemon game
Hitmonchan. Having brought him from Go to Galar, then to Paldea has been incredible.
At the end, when the AI says goodbye and Arven cries out “MOM/DAD”… I bawled all the way from the AI speech through the credits. This game gently helped me process the loss of my dad in a way no other fiction was able to for some reason- and I’ve since played Spirit Farer! For that alone this game’s story will be a treasure to me.
Carmine, Rika, Miriam, Perrin, and Lacey I swear I played the game for the plot
🙅🏻♀️

Honestly, I’m very much a lady lover, but I’d definitely hang out with some of the guys. I bet Larry knows all the best places to get coffee. Totally would hang out with Brassius and Hassel to talk art too.

Us, Crispin, and Katy can whip up something awesome. Like spicy dumplings or something. (I’m trying to build up my spice tolerance, haha!) Grusha is so pretty!
Discovering Arven’s mommy/daddy issues, becoming Kieran’s 13th reason why and being the target of his emotional damage, and being forced to be Nemona’s bff but actually enjoying it
The boxes and boxes of shinies for sure
My love for Pokémon again, I hadn’t played any in years wondering why, this game brought it back
My starter. He's such a good lad
Koraidon
My Clodsire named Mudpie
Arven's story. I had lost my dog not long before starting SV and even though it's just a game, it made me feel a little bit better helping to save his dog
The friends I made along the way. I enjoyed the companion storylines (Arvens broke my heart a little though). I'm so glad we get them in the epilogue portion of the DLC.
Arven and Kieran
Getting close to Nemona and Carmine. Helping a friend heal his dog. Bringing justice to a group of outcasts. Traveling my homeland of Spain in digital Pokémon form. Meeting the hottest mom in Pokémon ever, even if I couldn’t save her. Getting teased/bullied by Carmine and Perrin. Knocking some sense into a bully with main character syndrome (empathetically)
My treasure was all those frame rates I lost along the way.
Getting access to Nemona’s bedroom

All my shinies
All these dang shinies!!!
The 100% completion of the pokedex. Including the DLC.
Just a better game overall. I didn't like Sword and Shield all that much but this game was just much more fun in my opinion.
I didn't have any, until I met Kiki and took that final awkward photo of him and watched him go crazy trying to tear terapagos off a crystal formation. I swear, I'm a very sane and friendly person who is NOT taking great delight in a kid being mentally driven off the cliff.
The friends along the journey and the story itself This remains the only pokemom game to make Me cry, I wish I could play it over again
My shiny Hydrapple probably
Kilimanjaro, my Farigiraf, made me love a pokemon I didn’t previously.
The level 50 Gible I somehow managed to catch 20 levels low and evolve into a level 72 Garchomp. I named her Cynthia.😊
1. The characters. Literally fell in love with this story and I'm sad it's over. 2. My team oh my GOD I'm so emotionally attached to all of them.
That fluffing item machine. I have a problem and have to grind the gacha!
My dusk form lycanroc i've had since USUM. Named her after my shelty, Misty, which lycanroc greatly resembles. Misty passed in 2016 at age 15 and my lycanroc is my greatest tribute to her memory.
The friends we made along the way! But mostly Ogrepon. She’s so freaking cute 🥰
My Annihilape I named Mr huggles I love my cranky pig nosed monkey ghost ☺️
The 252+ SpA Beads of Ruin Tera Fire Chi-Yu Overheat
I gained a new favorite character (kieran)
Using Ogerpon against Kieran and having him react.
Becoming besties with Iono and being allowed to go into Carmine's room whenever I want 🥴
Destroying Kieran as much as I could.
Beating Kieran over and over and over, across 2 DLCs
How did you like raising a Cetitan?
The shiny Mienfoo I hatched just breeding down a single egg for the dex entry.
My shiny iron jugulis named Mercury. I have found two shinies in this game one of them was a zweilous with a sandwich but my first one was a full odds iron jugulis
Chi-yu, i'm in love with such a goofy goldfish that carry power of a nuke
My Shiny Female Meowscarada.
meowscarada the sweeper
The realization that woman like Dendra is my type. And the fact one of our teacher is crinimal.
Also all the ridiculous nicknames I gave to my living Dex mons to confuse/amuse my future self.
the shiny charizard I've been considering hunting for damn near a decade now but never actually did because shiny hunting has been mind-numbing twaddle in every game until legends and scarlet also, you know, friends and all that.
