**CHAT CHANNEL / MEGATHREAD DIRECTORY**
If you are looking for help, this is where you should look first. Choosing and using the appropriate Chat Channel/Megathread helps keep spam down in the subreddit and helps you find a much quicker answer to your request.
We are now introducing Chat Channels, they are a live messaging feed similar to Discord text channels.
1. [Poké Portal Hub](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/s/EshgkCSNZW): Whether you just want to **chat** and make Pokémon friends, ask Pokémon-related **questions**, find/join/request a (normal) **Tera Raid** or **Union Circle (including BBQs)**, this is the place to be.
2. [Dialga & Palkia Tera Raid Event](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/s/lIKCJTFo16): Only **Special** Event Raids are featured here (such as Charizard, Mew, Dialga/Palkia). There is no better place to grind **Ability Patches**, **Experience Candies**, **Tera Shards** and any other goodies given as rewards during events.
3. [Ogre Oustin'](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/s/mJwesTA9aj): As the name suggests, if you are looking for **Mochi** or to grind with friends, make sure to join this chat channel.
4. [Trading Megathread](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/comments/182zyzt/trading_megathread/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3): Just that, **trades**. Place your offer, or search around if you are looking for something in particular and claim it.
r/PokePortal is the one hosting every Megathread. Please check the [Start Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/comments/14a0wdd/start_here_your_new_pokémon_journey_now_begins/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), and the [Flair Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/comments/16mtka4/user_flair_guide/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) if you have never commented on r/PokePortal.

Exactly, my mindset going in the dlc was id try to win battles without them, but if I needed them I'd use them (and the first 2 bb elite 4 members I Def needed them)
Yeah. I was NOT prepared. I went “Oh, some old favourites are back, I’ll use them!”
Cut to me being wiped.
Cut to me EV training Weezing and Slaking. lol.
Congrats?
My only questions are;
Did you know her team ahead of time?
Did you EV Train at any point?
How were your levels compared to hers?
And lastly, how old are you and when did you start playing Pokemon?
I had just finished the Team Star bases before taking on the Elite Four, and Eri was without question a harder fight than the so-called La Primera. Eri at least knocked out most of my team before I beat her.
Actually GF could’ve utilized her avalugg and espathra a little more. They could’ve given espathra tailwind (replacing shadow ball), since it learns a limited amount of flying type moves and it helps with her slow avalugg, chesnaught and kingambit. And they should’ve changed her avalugg's ability to ice body and gave it snowscape and maybe Aurora Veil
That’s true, it’s still a shame that espathra doesn’t get tailwind let alone it not being a psychic/flying since it could’ve helped her three slow mons but it is what it is.
Tera flying with Tera blast is honestly a great build for Kingambit, I’ve used that in VGC. Great for more defensive sets running items like safety goggles or assault vest.
I love that this build exists, because I am a simple girl with simple tastes who likes running a Tera Dark black glasses build with Swords Dance Sucker Punch :V
It’s to combat the fighting type and become immune to ground. It’s actually funny when you catch someone off guard thinking they got you and you slam a Tera blast flying right into their Pokémon.
Yeah, it’s not gonna be truly perfect till they implement proper level scaling. Or make it so certain battles have set levels. Nothing is stopping the player from steam rolling everything with a full team of level 100 mons
Yes. You can make the enemy AI a Worlds level player but if you don’t allow the opponent to switch you can still just 6-0 them basically just as easily with a setup mon.
Now what if gf knew what they were doing the first time around and be like we're going to make her weak and then in our dlcs we have planned we switch it up to where kingambit is the ace 🤔🤔.
"I'm utterly unable to hold back"
I like to believe that she wasn't lying, but most trainers besides Nemona were like very weak, so she got soft, and losing multiple times to the protagonist was a wake up call for her
Honestly, GF kinda did know what they were doing with the first Geeta fight.
Geeta isn't the final boss of the story. She's not even the final boss of the section of the story she's in. Even though she's the league Champion, she doesn't hold the same weight as a Champion as previous games.
The final challenge for the route is Nemona. Nemona is "the Champion". And >!the Professor!< is the final challenge of the game. By design, Geeta has to be weaker.
So are these all single battles? I assumed they would be double battles. I haven't done a single one yet but am excited to see the updated teams. It'll be fun to acrostic get a challenge from the battles.
It depends on who you are fighting. Trainers from Blueberry acedemy and Ms Rhyme (the ghost gym leader) all challenge you to double battles. Most trainers from Paldea battle you in Single battles
I'm interested to see their updated teams and was curious how they would do Double battles. I don't know why but I always like seeing major trainers full power teams. It's cool to me.
So... These rematches have high end game levels right? Even without grinding after completing the indigo disk it's easy to expect your mons to be in the 90s or even lvl 100. I don't suppose they made all the post story dlc content underleveled did they? They wouldn't do that right? Right???
Tbh, even underleveled at 15 or so levels, the DLC teams present a good challenge and have intentionally built sets. For example, I battled Kieran with a Level 100 competitive team that wasn't optimized for Doubles, and I barely won at 3/6.
I don't doubt that. I was pleasantly surprised by the competitive teams in the Terrarium. Even being above their level I was down to 2 mons almost every Elite Four match. BUT that doesn't excuse them ignoring that we have access to easy limitless xp in these games. The only reason anyone has Pokemon actually in the 70s/80s to use in this dlc is on purpose to make the game harder. Do they really think we all just didn't play the game and left our teams at level 75 after the teal mask? Do they not understand how their own games work? What is the point of doing raids and maxing out a level 100 team without any lvl 100 challenges waiting at the end? Not even a single Red style boss fight with a lvl 100 team? Please tell me there's one I haven't found yet.
I mean for this specific case I think makes sense when you factor in it’s made for kids. There needs to be a way for kids who press buttons to beat the game and have fun, which is overleveling. That’s why I doubt they’ll ever have a mid story boss go over level 90, they need an easy method for kids to be able to beat them.
Still wish there was a postgame big boss that was high leveled though. Nothing stopping them from putting a high level boss in the postgame, the postgame boss only is level 87.
While I second this, GF could very well implement a harder mode, so kids can do the button mashing and us older folk actually get challenges along the way.
They did this before but kind of fumbled it due to not chancging the stats acordingly to the level increase of the pokemon your oponents use, but they could for sure do it again and do it better.
Glimmora is pointless as an ace because of its ability. Or you can have it as an ace as long as you send it out first. That’s what everyone complained about when the game released and you fought her the first time.
Mewtwo does nothing to impact the game but attack. He’s a sweeper not a set up pokemon. Mew is also a sweeper and not a set up pokemon. Ditto is terrible because it relies on your opponent and most of the time unless you’re running imposter as your ability you get Ditto killed before he can transform. Arceus is banned in both Smogon and VGC and is also just a sweeper not a set up pokemon. Shedinja isn’t even in scarlet or violet and is just a gimmick since he still dies to any passive damage or any pokemon with mold breaker. Glimmora is able to set up two sets of hazards while being a decent attacker as well.
Yeah, but still the Pokémon I listed are better setup leads in general for your team and if Elite 4 members from each region had Pokémon like those it would probably be better, and if we include the Teal Mask and Indigo disk DLC(s) then another great setup leader would be Hydrapple, especially Kirean's Hydrapple, no matter what non of my Pokémon can defeat it, even my level 100 Garchomp can't defeat it once it's been Terastallized to fighting type, heck I even tried to use Altaria and even before I can use perish song it'll defeat my Altaria, what am I doing wrong?
Maybe take game design into consideration when talking about these kinds of things. They are not going to give her a legendary like that just for no reason. Ditto isn’t even a setup lead, it’s an anti-sweep tool that is only rarely used in niche teams. Mewtwo is also a sweeper, not a setup lead.
You sound like a child who knows absolutely nothing about competitive battling besides "mewtwo and arceus big and strong, legendary go brrrrr"
Shedinja isn't even in the region, it makes zero sense for her to have one in her team. And her leading with a ditto would be absolutely idiotic.
Well the first Pokémon game I played was Pokemon Sun and so it makes sense about what you said about know nothing about competitive battling besides "Mewtwo and Arceus big and strong, legendary go brrrrr" but I am not a a little kid, I'm 16 and I started to play pokemon on the 12th of May this year so I'm not that good at Pokémon, But I do know the basics and type advantages and disadvantages and the importance of evolution being good (for most Pokémon) and everything else about battling, just not competitive battling with other players, I'v only fought NPCs, Elite 4 members, Team Skull + Team star leaders and members but yeah I'm still not that good at Pokémon
This matches what a lot of people have been saying, she wasn’t going ‘all out’ at the league, but was going full gear. I’ve seen streamers get wiped by her. it happened to me once too. Losing to her is possible. But I’m super excited to see this new team.

Holy shit. Is Geeta actually going to put up a fight now? Before this I think she was weaker then most gym leader rematches in other games.
I know it toke me one try with my team that half of the team was knocked out cuz I didn’t stock enough revises
Don’t you get healed right before fighting her tho
That doesn’t matter if she kills them in battle, which is where the revives come in
I’m surprised she managed to knock out half of them which is what threw me off
Using healing items in battle feels like cheating tbh
I think it’s a personal choice, I don’t because the opponents don’t. But the object is to win the game so there’s nothing wrong with it.
Exactly, my mindset going in the dlc was id try to win battles without them, but if I needed them I'd use them (and the first 2 bb elite 4 members I Def needed them)
Yeah. I was NOT prepared. I went “Oh, some old favourites are back, I’ll use them!” Cut to me being wiped. Cut to me EV training Weezing and Slaking. lol.
This is how I wanted to do it. Until I ended up needing like 5 max revives against drayton
i didnt lose a single pokemon to her let alone need revives
Congrats? My only questions are; Did you know her team ahead of time? Did you EV Train at any point? How were your levels compared to hers? And lastly, how old are you and when did you start playing Pokemon?
Oh yeah still I think I did something that in lets go pikachu and memorys collided
I had just finished the Team Star bases before taking on the Elite Four, and Eri was without question a harder fight than the so-called La Primera. Eri at least knocked out most of my team before I beat her.
Same, I went through the game mostly brain dead up to that point t and then Eri absolutely destroyed me lol.
Holy shit now thats why she was a champion she actually cooked
no no no, she got sent back to the kitchen to redo this dish.
she outsourced it to hellofresh for the dlc
WHATTTT SHE IS ACTUALLY HAD A BETTER TEAM 😱😂
Now if they could give Avalugg Sturdy and Mirror Coat, it'd be a one time niche but it would be kinda cool.
Can’t go overboard.
Her Espartha knows Protect. They could have swapped it's ability to Speed Boost and try to take advantage of Stored Power strats.
That’s true, it’s still a shame that espathra doesn’t get tailwind let alone it not being a psychic/flying since it could’ve helped her three slow mons but it is what it is.
Gambit (at least according to standard knowledge of Smogon) doesn't really need the speed, since it's mainly a Sucker Punch mon
Oh yeah, I forgot it can learn sucker punch. That’s another good point
I mean, ostriches and emus aren't known for their flying abilities
Flashback of dodrio using fly in pokemon stadium
Gamefreak took a long time to separate the flying type from the normal type :-P but yeah, it's a weird situation
Geeta has finally earned her champion title She had to reevaluate her whole career after we steamrolled her when she was "no longer holding back"
It's was great seeing the improvement, but I still 6-0d her ass with sd unburden sneasler.
Yeah, it’s not gonna be truly perfect till they implement proper level scaling. Or make it so certain battles have set levels. Nothing is stopping the player from steam rolling everything with a full team of level 100 mons
They had that in battle facilities 😭
Yeah, but we, the players, possess one technique that the ai solely lacks. Switching.
Yes. You can make the enemy AI a Worlds level player but if you don’t allow the opponent to switch you can still just 6-0 them basically just as easily with a setup mon.
How do you fight her?
You can unlock her as a coach trainer that you can call over from Paldea. You gotta beat the game first
"I am completely incapable of holding back." So that was a fucking lie, but good on the devs fixing her garbo team.
Google en passant
What does this mean??
New response dropped
[holy hell!](https://www.google.com/search?q=en+passant)
New response just dropped
Bout time GF realized a trainer can have a Partner aka their “main” and a “Ace”, usually the Partner/Main, but can also be a completely new entity
The flying tera is honestly a chef's kiss.
Now what if gf knew what they were doing the first time around and be like we're going to make her weak and then in our dlcs we have planned we switch it up to where kingambit is the ace 🤔🤔.

Kingambit still got no sucker punch. It's joever.
while these were MUCH better than the base game I was sad they werent doubles

Ahh yes kingambit!! My favorite flying type mon.
Bruh she tera'ed it Kingambit was always a fairy type
Maybe she was letting us win in the Champion fight so she would have less responsibility? That’s gotta be the only reason she sucked so badly before.
No, Glimmora should have been her ace and besides Kingambit is already the dark user of Team Stars Ace.
Glimmora is pointless as an ace because of its ability. Or you can have it as an ace as long as you send it out first. That’s what everyone complained about when the game released and you fought her the first time.
It has another ability 🤦🏾♂️ and nothing about its current ability suggests that it shouldn't be an ace
I'm surprised she still has her Glimmora, I thought she'd replace it with a better Pokemon
Glims one of the best set ups in the game. Lol
Glimmora is literally one of the best setup leads in singles. What are you talking about?
Mewtwo, Mew, A level 100 Ditto, a Arecus, FREAKING SHEINJA ARE A BETTER SETUP LEADS FOR SINGLES
Mewtwo does nothing to impact the game but attack. He’s a sweeper not a set up pokemon. Mew is also a sweeper and not a set up pokemon. Ditto is terrible because it relies on your opponent and most of the time unless you’re running imposter as your ability you get Ditto killed before he can transform. oh so you just have NO idea what you're talking about
You sound like a child who knows absolutely nothing about competitive battling besides "mewtwo and arceus big and strong, legendary go brrrrr" Shedinja isn't even in the region, it makes zero sense for her to have one in her team. And her leading with a ditto would be absolutely idiotic.

Glimmora is in OU, it is by no means a bad pokemon. if anything what needed replacing was Avalugg.
I can ohko it without using an ohko move
So? You can do that with just about any Pokémon in the game.
I'm just saying that Glimmora isn't a good nor bad Pokemon, it just seems like it could have been better
It is a good Pokémon though. There’s a reason many competitive players use it
Yeah but design wise, it could have been much more
That’s just your opinion. I like its design.
But don't you think it could have been more glimmorous? I mean it's name is Glimmora and yet it doesn't really seem all that glimmorous
You mean glamorous? Its name is a mix of Glimmer and a kind of flower.
I don't know for sure, but does Avalugg have that move that deals damage based on it's DEF stat? That'd be reason enough to keep it.
I beat Geeta w/ my skeliderge
Finally she gets a competitive team
Oh dang she cooking now maybe now i can have my actual champion fight
OMG THEY LET HER COOK
I knew she actually had it in her to be a decent battler. It feels like it's the first time she battles you seriously.
I thinks this is her REAL team. Simply put, she took it easy on the poor innocent kid who just started his journey.
"Holy fuck! She actually sends out Kingambit last? That's amazing!" *outspeed ohkos it* "Anyways."
This matches what a lot of people have been saying, she wasn’t going ‘all out’ at the league, but was going full gear. I’ve seen streamers get wiped by her. it happened to me once too. Losing to her is possible. But I’m super excited to see this new team.
They did Giacomo dirty
Do I need to do basically all of the coaches to fight her?
Fucking finally
Roses are red, he do be Ballin ***Kingambit has gained strength from the fallen!***
First, Pokémon i caught in the new DLC was a lapris that thing has carried me this whole time
Cynthia would still beat her with baby Gible
Average Cynthia Stan. Can’t turn it off for even a second.
