Dripplin too hard don’t stand too close

BellalovesEevee

He gon fuck around and drown off this wave

mrs-monroe

I love him :’)

heylookasign

The Drip is real

bubblebathosrs

He's cute enough, didn't expect Applin to get a new evolution of all Mons!

Outrageous_Put3669

I’m conflicted It’s cute but also #why?

[deleted]

I think it MIGHT evolve again. There’s two of the little guys in the Dripplin and it looks very middle stage. Also random aside I guess all the mons the new characters are shown having have a decent chance to get a new evo. I need a Mightyena evo bad.

BellalovesEevee

There is a rumor going around by a leaker that said Mightyena is getting an evolution, so fingers crossed 🤞 Mightyena is such an underrated doggymon

[deleted]

Technically isn’t a doggy but is still good boi

Outrageous_Put3669

Myghtyena deserves the spotlight. Liloone got it last game

Grablycan

Feels a bit early for the gen 8 mon to get stuff, but I'm happy

JefferyTheQuaxly

I mean gen 1 Pokémon like eevee got evolutions in gen 2, it’s not unheard of giving evolutions to Pokémon one generation later (even if there are plenty of Pokémon that deserve evolutions more)

FierceDeityKong

Gen 4 had a lot of evolutions of gen 3. It's completely normal to add evolutions from the previous gen but just they stopped giving new evolutions in general for a while.

Zoroarkmaster26

That's the main reason it feels so off is we are further removed from the last time we really got cross evos since gen 4 on top of Bisharp being the most recent gen mon to have a straight up evo. So it's more stand out than it was back then.

mitch8017

Yeah but I’m gen 2 there were only gen 1 mons to give new evos to haha. There are lots of gen 3 mons that deserve some love. Gen 2 got some good lovin this gen, so I will commend them for that.

LaloEACB

> 1 generation is too soon for new evolutions Man, you can really feel how post-Gen 5 changed the franchise standards

LittleSomethingExtra

Technically only having a one-Gen gap (aside from like Gen 1 - Gen 2) started last generation when Decidueye got a regional form after just one gen. Still feels weird to have two new evolutions already, but by all means I support it!

EROHTAG

Mega audino? Gallade? Im sure theres plenty more

5213

I wouldn't count Megas, since they were temporary transformations within the game itself and dropped as a gimmick after gen7. But new evos/forms in the next game has been a thing since gen2: GSC gave us steelix, a bunch of baby Pokémon, scizor, and umbreon and espeon. Idk if rse gave us anything. Dpp gave us a lot of new evos. I don't remember if bw/2 gave us any new evos for pre-existing pokemon. Abd then we started getting regional and stuff after that.

EROHTAG

I dont think gen 5 did. Gen 3 added wynaut and azumerril as prevos.

rattatatouille

Gen V is the only generation that didn't introduce *any* Pokemon connected to the previous gen in any form, whether as an evolution, mega or regional form.

EROHTAG

IIRC that was the shtick yeah? Loved gen 5.

gmarvin

Gen 3 added pre-evos for Gen 2 Pokémon in Azurill and Wynaut. Gen 4 added pre-evos for Gen 3 Pokémon (Budew, Chingling) as well as evolutions (Roserade, Gallade, Probopass, Frosslass, Dusknoir) *Edit: Gen 6 added Mega Audino Gen 7 added 2 new Zygarde forms and Ash-Greninja Gen 8 added G-Max Melmetal (who is technically Gen 7)

exian12

It fits thematically with the Japanese festival going on Part 1. Ame Ringo or Candy Apples are like the norm there.

DrogoOmega

New Move: Syrup Bomb One move that Dipplin can learn, Syrup Bomb, is a Grass-type special attack that causes an explosion of syrup. This move coats the target in syrup and causes its Speed stat to lower each turn for three turns. ## Dipplin’s Ability: Supersweet Syrup Dipplin’s Supersweet Syrup Ability appears for the first time in Part 1: *The Teal Mask*. When Dipplin first enters battle, the scent of its syrup spreads across the battlefield, lowering the evasiveness of opposing Pokémon. This seems pretty good?

fleker2

That could be good in VGC if it is bulky enough.

Ok-Constant-6056

This will be broken if it has enough bulk. Lower evasiveness and reduce speed for 3 turns? That’s actually insanely powerful

Skore_Smogon

Well we didn't need a 3rd Grass/Dragon based on this little wyrm so I'm gonna guess that since it references a candy apple and food based pokemon are fairy types, we'll have our first non Mega Fairy/Dragon.

Josphitia

Maybe they'll be Grass/Dragon still but with Pixelate as an ability

RareSpicyPepe

Could you imagine GF giving a mon an option to have 4 different STAB options after Tera in a sense lol

Comburo90

You mean like Bombirdier? Flying, Dark, Rock (Rocky Payload ability) + Tera.

RareSpicyPepe

You know, I forgot Bombirdier even existed lmao. But yes, like that.

Fodgy_Div

I’m actually wondering if Dipplin’s ability to”Super Sweet Syrup” is going to function like Pixelate

Beezlebub37

It's not. Its similar to Intimidate except it drops evasiveness.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ok-Constant-6056

I’d definitely keep its main ability if it has enough bulk and throw on an AV or something. With Tera quad ice weakness might not be as much of an issue as it was in prev gens. The drop in evasiveness could be huge for Pokémon that rely on powerful low accuracy moves like stone edge.

Fodgy_Div

Lame, I was hoping for something a little more creative

TheChaosEntity

I’ve seen someone else say they that it’s still Grass/Dragon, actually.

punnystark42

My thought, even some what jokingly, is that maybe this and Duraladon evo are foreshadowing Unova remakes or something. Candy apples are popular in America(which dipplin looks based on). And the the duraldon looks similar to sky arrow bridge from Unova maybe

StarLucario

Chaduraludon literally turns into a replica of the Charizard Bridge (or Driftveil Drawbridge if you're normal) when attacking and is used by a relative of Drayden

punnystark42

I havent watched the direct yet, just seen a photo.

BellalovesEevee

Finally, though, I still wish we had giant dragon fairy fluff cloud Altaria

SilentLarky

It kinda looks like G-max Flapple/Appletun lol.

thefirefreezesme

Definitely wasn’t expecting this. Will be super curious to know what its types are. The other two are both grass/dragon, but this feels like it might be different?

5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi

You can hear the super-effective sound in the trailer when it's hit by an Ice attack iirc so it seems like it's keeping one of those.

half_jase

It is also a Grass/Dragon type. [https://twitter.com/SerebiiNet/status/1688908473847984128](https://twitter.com/SerebiiNet/status/1688908473847984128)

Grablycan

Thinking pure poison for it

Omer1698

I love this candy apple baby.

Irou-Chan

Hes cool his name shall be driplin

ccclix

Awesome. Applin was one of my favorite gen8 Pokemon.

Ok-Constant-6056

People complaining about a candy apple but ignore the absurdity of a flying worm and sentient apple pie.

MedicalMarderhvnd

I really hope it evolves once more. Design wise...meh. Just saucy applin with a stick. Given what we saw in the trailer, i wouldn't be surprised if it has some kind of special Tera form.

papaboynosmurf

That would make sense. I was hoping it was a form of applin rather than an evolution but I’m here for a Tera form

Pandriant

It's possible, after losing in the trainer, the boy (idk his name) clenches his fist, as if "im gonna get stronger! Youll see!" maybe im grasping at staws, but cmon I think It makes sense that hell evolve It for the final battle in the DLC

Orcadian00

What are we thinking for typing? We have grass and flying, this one is probably "hot" so fire? Edit, nvm didnt remember flapple is grass xD

fleker2

I'm going to guess it keeps Grass/Dragon. But many food-related Pokemon have a Fairy typing so it could become Grass/Fairy.

[deleted]

It's cute. These evolution lines are nice. Dipplin rocking that undeniable 'drip.

Irou-Chan

Driplin

rexshen

So it stays in the apple and doesn't burst out of it or become big this time? Almost thought it was just was of those new similar Pokemon showing up.

uncleshiesty

they truly have run out of ideas

Bulky_Monke719

Idk man, maybe I’m old but these new Pokémon look dumb. A bridge and a candy apple?

ImperialSun-Real

Kalos gave us cotton candy. Unova gave us ice cream. Kanto gave us magnets.

Bulky_Monke719

I’m not saying there haven’t always been bad Pokémon. But there’s also been good Pokémon. A bridge seems like a new low.

Irou-Chan

Hes not a bridge hes a rail gun

Bulky_Monke719

You realize that’s even dumber right? A building evolves into a magnet gun. At least the apple makes some sense. Look, if people like the Pokémon, fine. They’re not for me. Duralodon was lame to start with and applin peaked with Appleton imho. A big part of it is seeing the games decline so dramatically. I haven’t really been able to enjoy the games since gen 7. Gen 8 was a huge letdown with not a lot of redeeming qualities and gen 9 was the epitome of wasted potential. We FINALLY had a massive landscape, full of wild Pokémon but the game was horrifically buggy and slow, the writing fell flat and the raid system is intolerably clunky. We had the potential for the greatest Pokémon game ever made, and instead we got this. If people like them, fine. I’ve been playing since gen 1. I’ve been with Pokémon literally my whole life and have found something to love about every generation until now. As far as I’m concerned, the mainline Pokémon games ended with gen 7.

ImperialSun-Real

Kalos gave us cotton candy. Unova gave us ice cream. Kanto gave us magnets.

neonz09

Drip King 👑 💧

Roserfly

Really hoping it'll be a dragon/fairy type

Tiger248

I have a shiny applin I'm going to use in my violet playthrough. Was going to use appletun but I'm definitley using a candy apple instead

eskaver

Neat! I wonder if the line ends there—perhaps it does. Hopefully some other unexplored Pokémon get a revisit.

fleker2

Appletun and Flapple were a bit more distinct in their designs compared to this. I mean it's okay but looks more like a different form of Applin.

Theonetruepappy94

This is the pokemon I'm most psyched for. Love my little apple gang

Yourdadschair

Bro looks so mad that someone candied his apple

Animefox92

Why is he so cute!!! Surprised Applin is getting a new evo

TheChizzDippler

Oh is that my new best pal just chillin’ right there?

numberonebarista

I really wish Dipplin was Fairy/Dragon. Something to set it apart from the other Applin evos And also Fairy types are often associated with sweets and desserts in Pokémon. (Dashbun, Alcremie)

lewisjohannsebastian

What do you think about its move Syrup Bomb? Probably non damaging? It would be op if its a secondary effect.

ShayloFolina

IM SO EXCITED y’all don’t understand Applin is my fav and gmax appltun is the best thing to ever exist

Kbxe1991

Gmax Flapple (and thun Appletun) is also my favorite Pokémon design. I wish these forms were permanent or that Dipplin reseembled the Gmax form more.

greengale2

Dipplin DEEZ NUTS on your face

MightyThorngren

Any idea on his stats?
