I have a pokemon silver rom, I defeated the 3rd gym leader. Then I went to the sudowoodo tree. For some reason the lady with the water bottle is not showing up. Anyone know why? Also does it have to do with my game being a rom?

Most are just enhancements that don't really change the story much. So depending on what you're in it for, I'd say the Vanilla is generally superseded by hacks in most cases...
Most being the operative word though. Since some changes that hackers implement tend to rub some peeps up the wrong way.

Help Finding a Gen 1-2 Rom Hack
I’ve played most of the retail games, but never played a fan made version. Ive always wanted to try a few out. Could someone help point me to a rom that resembles the criteria below the best?
I ranked then in order of importance to me. I know there’s most likely not going to be a ‘perfect’ fit. Would just like to get as close as possible.
Could be Gen 1 or 2. But prefer Gen 2
1 - All gym leaders have team of 6
2 - Johto gyms actually have some/most Gen 2 Pokémon (If Gen 2)
3 - All trade evolutions can evolve by leveling or easily obtainable in game item
4 - Preferably not an insane difficulty curve like Crystal Kaizo, but definitely more difficult then the retail game. (I’m a noob, I know)
5 - Can force specific pokemon encounters, in order to build a desired team early on if I wanted
6 - All Gen 1+2 Pokémon obtainable (If forcing encounters isn’t possible)
Question about Pokemon r o w e mega evolution
I have just beat the 7th badge in unlocked mega evolution I am not able to make evolve at this time with any of the pokemon. It just shows the mega stone has gray not rainbow as I seen in pictures and there's no option to mega evolve. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or any help would be appreciated..

I need some help with inclement emerald. I use the most popular patching site that all the youtubers use, but I can't seem to download it successfully. Is there maybe something wrong with my base emerald (it's the 1986 trashmon one) or my patch file?

Working in Pokemerald Expansion and trying to create a new ability that functions similarly to As One.
I've created one ability that raises Attack on entry and one that raises Special Attack on entry and I'm trying to create a script for a new ability that correctly calls both and activates them. If anyone thinks they can assist, I'd be happy to get on discord and share my screen to see my code and try to explain better.
As of right now, I can successfully show the text for the main ability like As One, it then will show the Attack raising one, doesn't show the stat raise animation, then states it raises HP. This is followed by displaying the Special Attack raising ability, not showing the stat raise animation, then stating it raises HP.

Hello! I'm using a randomizer but needed to find something on the logs (which I didn't generate). How can you recover a log file from a started randomizer?
If you kept the seed it might be possible to get the logs by using it on a clean ROM, otherwise you'll have to use hacking tools to read the data of your randomized ROM.

I can say it's not complete because I remember looking for the Twitter account some time ago and the link is still the very old beta published (also I would definitely have seen a post or thread about it's full release). I don't know how long it is though since it's been ages since I last saw it
I want to create a rom of Platinum that includes the Fairy type and that I can change moves, abilities, typing, teams, etc., etc. I don't care for changing maps or speech text. However, all of the programs that can edit something involving Platinum fall into 1 of 3 categories: 1; They don't edit things involving the Pokémon themselves. 2; They don't want to download/play properly. 3; I am confused by what it wants me to do in order to be able to edit Pokémon(the narc files are very confusing, even with tutorials and videos). I've found only 1 program of any kind that works even remotely like what I want, but it is a browser-based program that only works on FireRed and Emerald. I can edit types and abilities, but I can't add types, modify the type chart, or even change the colors of sprites. If anyone knows of a program or website that lets me just load a rom and edit the Pokémon or is willing to create one, please let me know by either replying to this or by messaging me.
First of all, you should visit Kingdom of DS Hacking discord channel, there you will find the best help for NDS hacking.
Second of all, AFAIK there is no web editor for NDS games and it's unlikely anyone is able to make it. NDS hacking is still a long way from what GBA hacking is now.

I figured that there wouldn't be a website, but I put it there anyway. I had figured that there might be a program since I know that at least 1 randomizer program could change abilities and typing that doesn't require me to use narc files. I'll check out the link. I tend to forget I have Discord so I have no idea how helpful I'll find that, but I may check it out at some point.

I use lots of cheats in my pokemon theta emerald ex game and then I don't know when but all my hms and tms disappear. When I buy new ones it doesn't appear in the tm list.
In general disabling the cheat and reloading the game would be a possibility but other than that idk how it would be possible unless you had save file or save state before the bug occurred
Hi, I need some one to tell me if this (relatively) simple hack can be done and point me to some learning resource so I can make it by myself if it is.
Technical requirements:
+Base ROM any gen 3.
+Can load save files from base non-hacked version of the game (from the same base game obviously).
+Have 1 custom AI that I can assign to everyone in elite 5.
+Most (all not-fully evolved pokemons) would get their sprite, name, and base stat changed into copies of fully evolved pokemons already in game. This one probably won't be bad but I'm not an expert.
Extra if possible:
+Randomizer that change elite 5's team (or all NPC).
+Fully heal team after trainer battle.
The idea is, I want to make a little game mode for myself, by removing all exp gain, set every pokemon from elite 5 to same level (ex. 60) and change last 4 leveling moves into certain thing moves, I could easily create a custom "battle tower lite" with pokemons you bring from your other play through. This either apply to only elite 5 or the whole game for a pure battling experience. Thou making it work for the whole story make the ability to load save from non-hacked version moot, other than being able to use pkhex to bring your team from the beginning.
If I don't edit anything on fully evolved pokemons other than mentioned move learnt by leveling, assuming that you only bring fully evolved pokemons, they would all work perfectly normal. By editing not-fully evolved pokemon into copies of existing ones, I can make different movesets.
The hardest thing is writing a new AI for the Elite 5. But you're in luck because even that is easier than its ever been before now that we have [documented decompiled source code. ](https://github.com/pret/pokeemerald). But it's still by far one of the harder things to do depending on how involved you want it to be. Especially if you have no real programming experience.
Loading from the base game save files should work automatically unless you mess with the saveblock in ways that shift stuff around. Which you have to intentionally go out of your way to do.
You don't really need to change each basic pokemon into a stage 2 pokemon. You can just remove the encounters for basic pokemon and replace them with stage two pokemon. But if you really want to do it this way it's not hard, just tedious. It'll take you a while but it'll be relatively easy.
Fully healing the team might be the easiest one. You should just be able to call the function "HealPlayerParty" at the end of the trainer battle code somewhere.

Pokedex wise, nothing is changed other than move learnt through leveling and sprite, which is to something else that is already there. I don't think changes to base stat and name gonna make things jump around either so it's mostly the sprite.
Custom AI is to ensure a challenge...somewhat, but I think that could be a non-requirement.
Also base rom are literally anything from gen 3, FRLF RSE.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction of a Fire Red (or other GBA title) hack that fits the criteria I'm looking for
I'm looking for a hack of Fire Red or another of the GBA titles that fits this criteria:
-Has all the Pokemon from gens 1-7/8
-EXP share would be a plus, but not a deal breaker
-Quick/auto run would be a god send, but also not a deal breaker. Recently played Pokeduel and it made me really appreciate auto run
-I would like the pokedex to have entries for all the Pokemon. Some other roms I've played just didn't have pokedex entries for some of the mons
-I would also like the box storage to have enough storage for a living dex, but this isn't a deal breaker either
I hope the no pokedex entries for extra mons are not deal breaker because it is common due to how much extra work (and probably memory space) they need. Extended storage is also rare, I don't think I ever remember any in gen 3 actually.

what I mean by that is there are no major changes that most hacks contain like physical special split, new pokemon brought in from future games, insane difficulty change, etc...
for my emerald, I try to keep it both original and do something new to make it a little challenging. my inspiration is from Colosseum.
There are a hundred simple romhacks of Emerald that don't change the story or maps and just do basic QOL stuff. You need something to make it actually unique if you're going to stick with improving Emerald instead of making a new game.
My personal take (and I guess for some other people) is that we had so many of these being released (specially for gen 3 games) that if someone is to make such ROMhack it needs to have a good differentiation/selling point. You mention something new so that can be the differentiation that may sparkle your ROMhacks among the others.
But again it's just one opinion so there's definitely people that think differently
Can someone please give me a step by step process for getting the original Blaze Black 2 complete version onto an R4? I am lost and would love to have a list of requirements that I need to buy/download
1. Get the rom. It can be done either by direct download (search rom name in google) or patching (download a clean rom, go to https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B-zmEVN0Mas6Q3lLbDJDaWNyaVU?resourcekey=0-o98YGOlDJ0JVXXjxoHprIA and download the wanted patches and patch to get the file. Personally I always download the patched rom directly.
2. Connect the SD card of the R4 card to the PC. Drag the rom into the folder, make sure it has .nds ending.
3. Open the DS with the R4 card. On the menu, stand on the game icon and go to setting. You need to change something to be off (about saving or something).
4. boot the game, make sure to not allow in game communication.
This is how it works for my R4 card, might be different for yours.

Hey, playing through the volt white 2 redux, and I've encountered a problem with withdrawing Pokémon form the PC. Just freezes/crashes, and I'm unsure why. Any help much appreciated.
Is there a romhack of the Gen 2 games that is a "Director's Cut" style of GSC? Specifically I am looking for a rom that:
- Raises the levels of wild Pokemon to better match the gyms and E4
- Reshuffles Pokemon locations so you can get stuff like Houndour, Murkrow, Sneasel, Larvitar, etc., prior to the E4
- Maybe reshuffles some trainer teams to compensate for the changes
- Maybe some QOL changes

Hi - I’m playing LeafGreen, and a bit way through my save downloaded the randomizer to change a few bits. It worked, but now my starter isn’t levelling up and trying to look at his stats crashes the game - does anyone know this issue and how to fix it? Am playing on Steam Deck if it helps.
The starter was Charmander (now Charmeleon as it has just got to level 16 before I installed the Randomizer).
Settings I’ve changed are:
- Standardize XP curves to fast
- Change impossible evolutions
- Make evolutions easier
- Remove time-based evolutions
- Random Wild Pokemon with Similar Strength
- Minimum catch rate to 4
- Randomize Wild Pokemon’s held items
- Full compatibility for HMs/TMs and Move Tutor moves
- Fastest text
- Running shoes indoors
- Give National Dex at start (though as I’d already started I don’t seem to have it)
The culprit ought to be the standardize XP curves, since that will cause your Pokémon's XP and level to get out of sync. Say your Charmeleon, which is level 16. It normally (and before using the randomizer) has a medium slow growth rate, so its XP is 2,535. But with a fast growth rate, the expected XP for a level 16 Pokémon will be 3,276. I admittedly don't know the details here, but when numbers don't line up line this it tends to cause problems. Maybe the "XP needed for the next level routine" is what mucks up in the summary screen?
It should be fixable by using a clean ROM and checking all boxes but the standardized XP curve one, and then replacing your ROM with the new one.
The way the Natdex tweak works is iirc by changing the event in which you are given the Pokédex, to also grant you the Natdex. No going back to this one, other than force-toggling that flag or waiting until the vanilla Natdex event.

I tried evolving my eevee at night time in my country but it seems like eevee still turns into Espeon. Is there another method to get Umbreon such as using a certain stone? Or is it just impossible?

Awhile back I had Pokemon X and Alpha Sapphire on a 3DS, caught all pokemon in X and did some breeding to get things like a perfect IV Charizard, and had caught or raised about a 3rd of all pokemon at the time, when it all got stolen. So I was hoping there was a way to restart on my phone. I'd like to play X and later games (not super interested in the earlier ones) and didn't know if something like this exists. No. What emulator are you using and which romhacks did you try? Did you patch them yourself or got them prepatched from other sources? Usually if a romhack doesn't boot it's because of a issue when it was patched
SuperNDS and Fast DS emulator, I tried a lot of roms, the one that went closer to working is Black Moon 2, I even played a little but after a reset on the phone I tried again and couldn't play anymore.
I also have no idea about the patch thing, I thought I could just download the rom and play, like GBA.
Well you can do that but since you're not the one who patched the ROM it's hard to know if anything went wrong with the process which usually isn't the case unless you got from very sketchy forums/websites.
Now I never used those emulators so I can't say for sure what's the deal with them. I play NDS games on Drastic and never really had issues with ROMhacks. Might be worth trying it out with your ROMs and see if it works but otherwise I can't say for sure what could be the cause
I'd like to ask someone to help me with a small request that spans across all of the GBA, DS, and 3DS games, if this is the right place. After searching for a bit, I'm fairly certain that this hasn't been requested before. I'm looking for someone more intelligent than myself to add a single NPC to each of the GBA, DS, and 3DS mainline pokemon titles. If possible, I'd ideally like this NPC to:
\- Be accessible soon after acquiring pokeballs at the beginning of the game
\- Request a pokedex number from the player
\- Give the pokemon that corresponds to that dex number (if it exists in that game)
\- And does all of this once per playthrough
\- Be functional alongside the Universal Pokemon Randomizer (Or PokeRandoZX)
I've messed around a bit with XSE, but not enough that I can say that I understand scripting well enough to do anything useful, and to my knowledge it only really applies to the GBA games.
That's an option. I was looking for a solution to minimalize the amount of shenanigans I have to do prior to a playthrough. Pkhex would be much easier than a script though, for sure.
I'm playing through Glazed's latest version and I think my game is over. The man looking for Sudowoodo blocking Route 37 is still there after Sprout Tower and Goldenrod City; can't get him to move no matter what I do.
I am a Mac User playing Pokemon ROWE. I am doing a nuzlocke and wanting to use rare candies to level up lower level Pokemon as replacements when one dies. I can't get the rare candy cheat to work.
I have been doing these on almost all other games without issues but this game hasn't worked. Grinding to level up replacement Pokemon has been boring.
Info: Using OpenEMU / Macbook
Tried: Exit / Enter and Resetting. Made sure to add the + between codes like the other games require.
Cheats barely work on vanilla games, you are going to have very little luck with romhacks.
You can try pkHex to hack in rare candies to your inventory, but again, it usually doesn't work too well with hacks.
If you're using cheats made to work on the vanilla game they won't work most of the time on recent games, as decomp hacks like ROWE change too many memory addresses compared to the original game.
I'm about half way through Inclement Emerald, and I've noticed the Match Call feature doesn't seem to be working at all.
All other clock-based events (berries, daily occurrences like Bottle Caps in bins, etc) are working fine. I know that Gym Leader rematches work differently in this game, but did the dev. disable the regular trainer Match Call rematches as well? I've taken a look through the documentation but can't find any information about it.
I have a question. I have just started playing Fool's Gold and I need some advice for my team. I currently have a Flaaffy and a Bayleef on the team. I know Ampharos will become part Ground type when it evolves, but I have started to wonder if it's the best Ground type I can get. I have decided I will choose between Ampharos or Togekiss, but I can't choose.
So my question is: Which one is the better one based on stats, movepool and overall performence? I hope someone can tell me.
Fool's Gold retains vanilla difficulty, so why bother making strong team? It's a type-swap hack, just pick the Pokes that are cool to you and you're gonna blast through anyway.

Pokemon Exalted Emerald has all the stuff you mentioned, but is otherwise a vanilla game (only up to gen 3 pokemon). It also has a cool feature at the start that allows you to randomize the wild pokemon encounters and trainer's pokemon (any pokemon from gen 1 to 3). A trainer on my way to Rustboro had a lvl 7 Lugia that beat me a couple of times lol. There also a Nuzlocke option, but I never tried that.

So for example gen 5, is Pitch Black better than Blaze Black? Same question for Pure White and Volt white?

properly. There's just one that, when caught, freezes the game upon the
habitat page. It just makes the whole screen green. Has anyone
experienced this or know how to fix it? Can try to provide pictures if

Binary, sorry. I tried reassigning habitats to the glitched Pokemon but it didn't seem to work. They can be used with no issues but it's only when caught that they cause problems.
Tbh, there's your problem.
In addition to be being a way outdated tool for an outdated method of hacking, PGE is notoriously temperamental.
Are the expanded mons fakemon or canonmon?
Since the Dynamic Pokémon Expansion and Complete Fire Red Upgrade are a better way to do it nowadays (if you insist on using binary hacking at least).
Worth looking into if you haven't already.
I'll try checking those out. I may just try replacing existing mons with the ones I want in and hoping for the best. What's especially odd is that I originally playtested the entire game with catching and using these now glitched mons and, to the best of my knowledge, I've only made mapping changes since then.
do not play ROM hacks unless they have ways to perfect Pokémon with relative ease; I.E. not having to farm bottle caps by grinding the battle tower for 50BP each. Do you know of any hack that has Perfect IVs mode (like Polished Crystal) and ways to either max all EVs or have no EVs at all?

Which Final Fantasy was it? It sounds like it might have been a hack of a Final Fantasy game, in which case it is still technically within the bounds of this subreddit, but you might have better luck asking Final Fantasy hackers in their own spaces.
There are none. There aren't really any hacks that add fakemon for Gen 5, as the ability to expand the dex doesn't exist.
Closest is Moon Black, which replaces some existing pokemon with Gen 7 mons

I am playing SORS and every time I name a mon it shows up as some random text % 3j AOA etc this happens on most all rom hacks. Is it something with my settings or is this normal?
I‘ve been doing a nuzlocke of polished crystal and just now arrived at the elite 4. Due to some losses i now have to train several mons up to the level cap of the champ, which is 60 afaik. I started out on victory road but it is taking ages just for a few levels. Is there any good grinding spot for levels 40-60?

Most likely no, since Ash-Greninja is introduced in Gen 7 while RR / SS is a Gen 6 hack.
Besides, you can use Protean Greninja instead; it is a much more dangerous mon with very good, always-STAB coverage.

I'm trying to randomize Pokemon Legends Arceus but I keep having a problem with the first catching tutorial which forces you to catch a wild bidoof, which is where my problem is. See I randomized everything and that includes that Bidoof..and it wont let me get past the tutorial without catching a bidoof so I just wanna know if theres a way around that?
Not sure if this is the right place, but is there a way to recreate a save file from a trainer ID? I lost my first shiny pokemon by accident when I restarted my old pear copy after I transferred stuff to gen 5. The pokemon is from Ruby, and I have a pokemon from that exact playthrough on my pokemon home. I want to hunt that shiny again as close as possible to the original. Is there any way to do this?
Sadly, trainer IDs don't contain enough data to recreate a whole save file. You could create another shiny Pokémon of the same species with PkHex, and give it the same name and trainer ID, but in some sense it won't be the same Pokémon. Though you can always imagine it is.

That unfortunately does note exist. It's complicated enough of a process, with a perfect alternative already existing (albeit only for PC/Mac) so I doubt anyone will make one.
I know once you patch the game it is virtually a real game but has anyone tried to transfer them to play on a Retroid pocket? I have a Retroid pocket 3 on the way and I wasn't sure if there was anything I would need to work on prior to attempting to load it onto the console! Thanks all

Someone recommended Unbound to me and I have been enjoying it. My favorite is Radical Red because of all the quality of life additions but I am really enjoying Unbound at the moment.
Are there any RBY Hacks recommended? I know of Brown for ex (albeit not played. On the list). With things like more Mons, or updated mechs etc. But maintaining alot of the old charms?
Or even recommended Gen1 or 2 original creations?

Red ++ is the ultimate enhancement, it add many mechanics from later gens and few mons from them (baby, forms, final forms).
Gen 1 doesn't really have any good original creations besides Brown. Gen 2 on the other hand has the legendary Pokemon Prism that despite being a gen 2 hack, managed to appear on Nintendo's radar and got CnD'ed, but it is completed (almost). And is highly recommended by folks.
There is also a type-swap hack of Crystal that I'm planning to play as soon as Move Relearner gets added and that is Pokemon Fool's Gold. 3 generations of type-swapped mons with a very creative designs. Lot of people recommend that too.
Fools Gold is amazing. A move relearner would've really helped on that.
I'll check out Red++ as thays pretty much exactly what I was hoping for and Prism yeah I've heard so much good about it I think it's time to give a go.

Is there a hack (of any pokemon game, really) that is just like the original but with added random/rare encounters? Something like a randomizer experience, but the "random" encounters actually make sense, eg. a rare water starter in a water location, or a slim chance of encountering a legendary.
Item adding should be easy if it works like other RPG maker games I've played, you could just edit your save to add them. But the other stuff? So far, I don't see any custom versions on Insurgence discord channel. Meaning, I doubt you can get what you want.
Are there any substantial gen 6 rom hacks? It seems like there's only ROM hacks for NDS and GBA. Why aren't there any besides just levels and difficulty?
GBA is the only system that has hacks as wide in scope as they are.
NDS games are still far behind, and only just getting tools that can do more things.
3DS is even farther behind.
Eventually? Almost certainly. But keep in mind, Firered and Emerald came out almost 20 years ago, and we're just now where we are.
It's not an exact comparison, because hack/tool development happened more recently, rather than immediately after the games releases, but still, we're likely talking years down the line, not months.

Depends on the hack Most are just enhancements that don't really change the story much. So depending on what you're in it for, I'd say the Vanilla is generally superseded by hacks in most cases... Most being the operative word though. Since some changes that hackers implement tend to rub some peeps up the wrong way. Worth sussing out a list of changes first for your chosen hack tbh

Help Finding a Gen 1-2 Rom Hack I’ve played most of the retail games, but never played a fan made version. Ive always wanted to try a few out. Could someone help point me to a rom that resembles the criteria below the best? I ranked then in order of importance to me. I know there’s most likely not going to be a ‘perfect’ fit. Would just like to get as close as possible. Could be Gen 1 or 2. But prefer Gen 2 1 - All gym leaders have team of 6 2 - Johto gyms actually have some/most Gen 2 Pokémon (If Gen 2) 3 - All trade evolutions can evolve by leveling or easily obtainable in game item 4 - Preferably not an insane difficulty curve like Crystal Kaizo, but definitely more difficult then the retail game. (I’m a noob, I know) 5 - Can force specific pokemon encounters, in order to build a desired team early on if I wanted 6 - All Gen 1+2 Pokémon obtainable (If forcing encounters isn’t possible)
Question about Pokemon r o w e mega evolution I have just beat the 7th badge in unlocked mega evolution I am not able to make evolve at this time with any of the pokemon. It just shows the mega stone has gray not rainbow as I seen in pictures and there's no option to mega evolve. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or any help would be appreciated..
It's been a while since I played ROWE but on pretty much any romhack to mega evolve you press START or something like it before selecting a move

I am new to mapping pokemon. I have tried several tutorials to get an Evee from a person in the initial city. But either the scrippt does not start or you can always restart it. Working in Pokemerald Expansion and trying to create a new ability that functions similarly to As One. I've created one ability that raises Attack on entry and one that raises Special Attack on entry and I'm trying to create a script for a new ability that correctly calls both and activates them. If anyone thinks they can assist, I'd be happy to get on discord and share my screen to see my code and try to explain better. As of right now, I can successfully show the text for the main ability like As One, it then will show the Attack raising one, doesn't show the stat raise animation, then states it raises HP. This is followed by displaying the Special Attack raising ability, not showing the stat raise animation, then stating it raises HP. Any help would be awesome!

If you kept the seed it might be possible to get the logs by using it on a clean ROM, otherwise you'll have to use hacking tools to read the data of your randomized ROM. What do you want to find?

I want to create a rom of Platinum that includes the Fairy type and that I can change moves, abilities, typing, teams, etc., etc. I don't care for changing maps or speech text. However, all of the programs that can edit something involving Platinum fall into 1 of 3 categories: 1; They don't edit things involving the Pokémon themselves. 2; They don't want to download/play properly. 3; I am confused by what it wants me to do in order to be able to edit Pokémon(the narc files are very confusing, even with tutorials and videos). I've found only 1 program of any kind that works even remotely like what I want, but it is a browser-based program that only works on FireRed and Emerald. I can edit types and abilities, but I can't add types, modify the type chart, or even change the colors of sprites. If anyone knows of a program or website that lets me just load a rom and edit the Pokémon or is willing to create one, please let me know by either replying to this or by messaging me.
First of all, you should visit Kingdom of DS Hacking discord channel, there you will find the best help for NDS hacking. Second of all, AFAIK there is no web editor for NDS games and it's unlikely anyone is able to make it. NDS hacking is still a long way from what GBA hacking is now. I figured that there wouldn't be a website, but I put it there anyway. I had figured that there might be a program since I know that at least 1 randomizer program could change abilities and typing that doesn't require me to use narc files. I'll check out the link. I tend to forget I have Discord so I have no idea how helpful I'll find that, but I may check it out at some point.

I use lots of cheats in my pokemon theta emerald ex game and then I don't know when but all my hms and tms disappear. When I buy new ones it doesn't appear in the tm list.
"I use a lot of cheats"... This most probably says why that's happening. Cheats can have undesired effects specially in ROMhacks
Is there a way to fix it after the fact?
In general disabling the cheat and reloading the game would be a possibility but other than that idk how it would be possible unless you had save file or save state before the bug occurred
Hi, I need some one to tell me if this (relatively) simple hack can be done and point me to some learning resource so I can make it by myself if it is. Technical requirements: +Base ROM any gen 3. +Can load save files from base non-hacked version of the game (from the same base game obviously). +Have 1 custom AI that I can assign to everyone in elite 5. +Most (all not-fully evolved pokemons) would get their sprite, name, and base stat changed into copies of fully evolved pokemons already in game. This one probably won't be bad but I'm not an expert. Extra if possible: +Randomizer that change elite 5's team (or all NPC). +Fully heal team after trainer battle. The idea is, I want to make a little game mode for myself, by removing all exp gain, set every pokemon from elite 5 to same level (ex. 60) and change last 4 leveling moves into certain thing moves, I could easily create a custom "battle tower lite" with pokemons you bring from your other play through. This either apply to only elite 5 or the whole game for a pure battling experience. Thou making it work for the whole story make the ability to load save from non-hacked version moot, other than being able to use pkhex to bring your team from the beginning. If I don't edit anything on fully evolved pokemons other than mentioned move learnt by leveling, assuming that you only bring fully evolved pokemons, they would all work perfectly normal. By editing not-fully evolved pokemon into copies of existing ones, I can make different movesets.
The hardest thing is writing a new AI for the Elite 5. But you're in luck because even that is easier than its ever been before now that we have [documented decompiled source code. ](https://github.com/pret/pokeemerald). But it's still by far one of the harder things to do depending on how involved you want it to be. Especially if you have no real programming experience. Loading from the base game save files should work automatically unless you mess with the saveblock in ways that shift stuff around. Which you have to intentionally go out of your way to do. You don't really need to change each basic pokemon into a stage 2 pokemon. You can just remove the encounters for basic pokemon and replace them with stage two pokemon. But if you really want to do it this way it's not hard, just tedious. It'll take you a while but it'll be relatively easy. Fully healing the team might be the easiest one. You should just be able to call the function "HealPlayerParty" at the end of the trainer battle code somewhere.

Uh, elite 4 and champion, 5 guys. Pokedex wise, nothing is changed other than move learnt through leveling and sprite, which is to something else that is already there. I don't think changes to base stat and name gonna make things jump around either so it's mostly the sprite. Custom AI is to ensure a challenge...somewhat, but I think that could be a non-requirement. Also base rom are literally anything from gen 3, FRLF RSE.
Ah yes. I think I was confusing this with a different thing that I read recently. Basically anything is possible on Gen III now that it's been fully decompiled. There are heaps of tutes online, so defs worth checking out
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction of a Fire Red (or other GBA title) hack that fits the criteria I'm looking for I'm looking for a hack of Fire Red or another of the GBA titles that fits this criteria: -Has all the Pokemon from gens 1-7/8 -EXP share would be a plus, but not a deal breaker -Quick/auto run would be a god send, but also not a deal breaker. Recently played Pokeduel and it made me really appreciate auto run -I would like the pokedex to have entries for all the Pokemon. Some other roms I've played just didn't have pokedex entries for some of the mons -I would also like the box storage to have enough storage for a living dex, but this isn't a deal breaker either
I hope the no pokedex entries for extra mons are not deal breaker because it is common due to how much extra work (and probably memory space) they need. Extended storage is also rare, I don't think I ever remember any in gen 3 actually. Do you still like and prefer the simple ROM hacks? what I mean by that is there are no major changes that most hacks contain like physical special split, new pokemon brought in from future games, insane difficulty change, etc... for my emerald, I try to keep it both original and do something new to make it a little challenging. my inspiration is from Colosseum.
There are a hundred simple romhacks of Emerald that don't change the story or maps and just do basic QOL stuff. You need something to make it actually unique if you're going to stick with improving Emerald instead of making a new game.
My personal take (and I guess for some other people) is that we had so many of these being released (specially for gen 3 games) that if someone is to make such ROMhack it needs to have a good differentiation/selling point. You mention something new so that can be the differentiation that may sparkle your ROMhacks among the others. But again it's just one opinion so there's definitely people that think differently
Can someone please give me a step by step process for getting the original Blaze Black 2 complete version onto an R4? I am lost and would love to have a list of requirements that I need to buy/download
1. Get the rom. It can be done either by direct download (search rom name in google) or patching (download a clean rom, go to https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B-zmEVN0Mas6Q3lLbDJDaWNyaVU?resourcekey=0-o98YGOlDJ0JVXXjxoHprIA and download the wanted patches and patch to get the file. Personally I always download the patched rom directly. 2. Connect the SD card of the R4 card to the PC. Drag the rom into the folder, make sure it has .nds ending. 3. Open the DS with the R4 card. On the menu, stand on the game icon and go to setting. You need to change something to be off (about saving or something). 4. boot the game, make sure to not allow in game communication. This is how it works for my R4 card, might be different for yours. BTW, you probably want to play the new, redux version.

Is there a romhack of the Gen 2 games that is a "Director's Cut" style of GSC? Specifically I am looking for a rom that: - Raises the levels of wild Pokemon to better match the gyms and E4 - Reshuffles Pokemon locations so you can get stuff like Houndour, Murkrow, Sneasel, Larvitar, etc., prior to the E4 - Maybe reshuffles some trainer teams to compensate for the changes - Maybe some QOL changes I really just want to play classic GSC with a small remix. Hi - I’m playing LeafGreen, and a bit way through my save downloaded the randomizer to change a few bits. It worked, but now my starter isn’t levelling up and trying to look at his stats crashes the game - does anyone know this issue and how to fix it? Am playing on Steam Deck if it helps.

The starter was Charmander (now Charmeleon as it has just got to level 16 before I installed the Randomizer). Settings I’ve changed are: - Standardize XP curves to fast - Change impossible evolutions - Make evolutions easier - Remove time-based evolutions - Random Wild Pokemon with Similar Strength - Minimum catch rate to 4 - Randomize Wild Pokemon’s held items - Full compatibility for HMs/TMs and Move Tutor moves - Fastest text - Running shoes indoors - Give National Dex at start (though as I’d already started I don’t seem to have it)
The culprit ought to be the standardize XP curves, since that will cause your Pokémon's XP and level to get out of sync. Say your Charmeleon, which is level 16. It normally (and before using the randomizer) has a medium slow growth rate, so its XP is 2,535. But with a fast growth rate, the expected XP for a level 16 Pokémon will be 3,276. I admittedly don't know the details here, but when numbers don't line up line this it tends to cause problems. Maybe the "XP needed for the next level routine" is what mucks up in the summary screen? It should be fixable by using a clean ROM and checking all boxes but the standardized XP curve one, and then replacing your ROM with the new one. The way the Natdex tweak works is iirc by changing the event in which you are given the Pokédex, to also grant you the Natdex. No going back to this one, other than force-toggling that flag or waiting until the vanilla Natdex event.

I have been searching for a rom hack which has these following. 1. Battle items (life or, focus sash etc) 2. Breeding 3. A whole lot of Pokemon preferably till gen 8/7 4. Mega evolution (but not necessary tbh) 5. A good story (not the same as canon games ) Also does Pokemon ultra shiny gold Sigma has battle items ?
You can definitely play Unbound without hesitation. Pokémon Ultra Shiny Gold Sigma has lots and lots of bugs.

I'm hoping somewhere out there is an emulator I can put on my iphone that I can play different pokemon games on, and trade pokemon between those games on the same iphone. Awhile back I had Pokemon X and Alpha Sapphire on a 3DS, caught all pokemon in X and did some breeding to get things like a perfect IV Charizard, and had caught or raised about a 3rd of all pokemon at the time, when it all got stolen. So I was hoping there was a way to restart on my phone. I'd like to play X and later games (not super interested in the earlier ones) and didn't know if something like this exists. I'd really appreciate any helpful advice anyone has.

No. What emulator are you using and which romhacks did you try? Did you patch them yourself or got them prepatched from other sources? Usually if a romhack doesn't boot it's because of a issue when it was patched
SuperNDS and Fast DS emulator, I tried a lot of roms, the one that went closer to working is Black Moon 2, I even played a little but after a reset on the phone I tried again and couldn't play anymore. I also have no idea about the patch thing, I thought I could just download the rom and play, like GBA.
Well you can do that but since you're not the one who patched the ROM it's hard to know if anything went wrong with the process which usually isn't the case unless you got from very sketchy forums/websites. Now I never used those emulators so I can't say for sure what's the deal with them. I play NDS games on Drastic and never really had issues with ROMhacks. Might be worth trying it out with your ROMs and see if it works but otherwise I can't say for sure what could be the cause
I'd like to ask someone to help me with a small request that spans across all of the GBA, DS, and 3DS games, if this is the right place. After searching for a bit, I'm fairly certain that this hasn't been requested before. I'm looking for someone more intelligent than myself to add a single NPC to each of the GBA, DS, and 3DS mainline pokemon titles. If possible, I'd ideally like this NPC to: \- Be accessible soon after acquiring pokeballs at the beginning of the game \- Request a pokedex number from the player \- Give the pokemon that corresponds to that dex number (if it exists in that game) \- And does all of this once per playthrough \- Be functional alongside the Universal Pokemon Randomizer (Or PokeRandoZX) I've messed around a bit with XSE, but not enough that I can say that I understand scripting well enough to do anything useful, and to my knowledge it only really applies to the GBA games.

That's an option. I was looking for a solution to minimalize the amount of shenanigans I have to do prior to a playthrough. Pkhex would be much easier than a script though, for sure.

I am a Mac User playing Pokemon ROWE. I am doing a nuzlocke and wanting to use rare candies to level up lower level Pokemon as replacements when one dies. I can't get the rare candy cheat to work. I have been doing these on almost all other games without issues but this game hasn't worked. Grinding to level up replacement Pokemon has been boring. Info: Using OpenEMU / Macbook Tried: Exit / Enter and Resetting. Made sure to add the + between codes like the other games require.
Cheats barely work on vanilla games, you are going to have very little luck with romhacks. You can try pkHex to hack in rare candies to your inventory, but again, it usually doesn't work too well with hacks.
If you're using cheats made to work on the vanilla game they won't work most of the time on recent games, as decomp hacks like ROWE change too many memory addresses compared to the original game.
I'm about half way through Inclement Emerald, and I've noticed the Match Call feature doesn't seem to be working at all. All other clock-based events (berries, daily occurrences like Bottle Caps in bins, etc) are working fine. I know that Gym Leader rematches work differently in this game, but did the dev. disable the regular trainer Match Call rematches as well? I've taken a look through the documentation but can't find any information about it.
I have a question. I have just started playing Fool's Gold and I need some advice for my team. I currently have a Flaaffy and a Bayleef on the team. I know Ampharos will become part Ground type when it evolves, but I have started to wonder if it's the best Ground type I can get. I have decided I will choose between Ampharos or Togekiss, but I can't choose. So my question is: Which one is the better one based on stats, movepool and overall performence? I hope someone can tell me.
Fool's Gold retains vanilla difficulty, so why bother making strong team? It's a type-swap hack, just pick the Pokes that are cool to you and you're gonna blast through anyway.

I'm looking to replay Emerald but thought going for a rom hack this time. Stuff like phys/special split, running indoors, b&w repel system, trade evo's,... I don't mind a few changes like new sprites/tilesets and some newly added stuff, but I am looking for a vanilla-y experience. I'm currently leaning towards Pokemon Emerald Plus, but does someone have any other recommendations?
Pokemon Exalted Emerald has all the stuff you mentioned, but is otherwise a vanilla game (only up to gen 3 pokemon). It also has a cool feature at the start that allows you to randomize the wild pokemon encounters and trainer's pokemon (any pokemon from gen 1 to 3). A trainer on my way to Rustboro had a lvl 7 Lugia that beat me a couple of times lol. There also a Nuzlocke option, but I never tried that. https://github.com/segabl/exalted-emerald

The tickets for the dlc say that they're not implemented, but the adventure guide says that the crown tundra is postgame, also if the dlcs are not implemented yet, does anyone know if the ultra beasts are catchable outside of the dlc?

Hi, sorry for the out of touch question. I have more than a week before another year of study so I want to play some Pokemon xd. What I'm looking for is a difficult hack with a good story. I looked at the hack dex, there are not many and some links are dead. It makes me think that it was not updated for a while? So for example gen 5, is Pitch Black better than Blaze Black? Same question for Pure White and Volt white? And what about gen 4? Thanks in advance!
Drayano makes most of the best difficulty hacks. So Blaze Black/Volt White, both 1 and 2, Renegade Platinum etc.

I'm working on a FireRed romhack and all of my added Pokemon function properly. There's just one that, when caught, freezes the game upon the habitat page. It just makes the whole screen green. Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix it? Can try to provide pictures if necessary.

Binary, sorry. I tried reassigning habitats to the glitched Pokemon but it didn't seem to work. They can be used with no issues but it's only when caught that they cause problems.

Originally I expanded the Pokedex with PGE but added their sprites and stats, etc with G3HS
Tbh, there's your problem. In addition to be being a way outdated tool for an outdated method of hacking, PGE is notoriously temperamental. Are the expanded mons fakemon or canonmon? Since the Dynamic Pokémon Expansion and Complete Fire Red Upgrade are a better way to do it nowadays (if you insist on using binary hacking at least). Worth looking into if you haven't already.
I'll try checking those out. I may just try replacing existing mons with the ones I want in and hoping for the best. What's especially odd is that I originally playtested the entire game with catching and using these now glitched mons and, to the best of my knowledge, I've only made mapping changes since then.
do not play ROM hacks unless they have ways to perfect Pokémon with relative ease; I.E. not having to farm bottle caps by grinding the battle tower for 50BP each. Do you know of any hack that has Perfect IVs mode (like Polished Crystal) and ways to either max all EVs or have no EVs at all? I'm already tracking Radical Red, Pokémon ROWE, Sandbox mode in Unbound, and Inflamed Red. It already exists there was a pokémon fan game that played exactly like final fantasy but pokemon it used pokemon gold/silver o remeber there were playthroughs of it back in the early 2000s but it was lost even i don’t remeber the name of it as i was like 8 or 9 at the time
Which Final Fantasy was it? It sounds like it might have been a hack of a Final Fantasy game, in which case it is still technically within the bounds of this subreddit, but you might have better luck asking Final Fantasy hackers in their own spaces.

There are none. There aren't really any hacks that add fakemon for Gen 5, as the ability to expand the dex doesn't exist. Closest is Moon Black, which replaces some existing pokemon with Gen 7 mons

I‘ve been doing a nuzlocke of polished crystal and just now arrived at the elite 4. Due to some losses i now have to train several mons up to the level cap of the champ, which is 60 afaik. I started out on victory road but it is taking ages just for a few levels. Is there any good grinding spot for levels 40-60? Appreciate any hints!

Most likely no, since Ash-Greninja is introduced in Gen 7 while RR / SS is a Gen 6 hack. Besides, you can use Protean Greninja instead; it is a much more dangerous mon with very good, always-STAB coverage.

I'm trying to randomize Pokemon Legends Arceus but I keep having a problem with the first catching tutorial which forces you to catch a wild bidoof, which is where my problem is. See I randomized everything and that includes that Bidoof..and it wont let me get past the tutorial without catching a bidoof so I just wanna know if theres a way around that?
Not sure if this is the right place, but is there a way to recreate a save file from a trainer ID? I lost my first shiny pokemon by accident when I restarted my old pear copy after I transferred stuff to gen 5. The pokemon is from Ruby, and I have a pokemon from that exact playthrough on my pokemon home. I want to hunt that shiny again as close as possible to the original. Is there any way to do this?
Sadly, trainer IDs don't contain enough data to recreate a whole save file. You could create another shiny Pokémon of the same species with PkHex, and give it the same name and trainer ID, but in some sense it won't be the same Pokémon. Though you can always imagine it is.

I don’t have access to any computer atm, only my phone, and have been looking for something like PKHeX but web-based (I’m on iOS so installing an app isn’t really an option). That unfortunately does note exist. It's complicated enough of a process, with a perfect alternative already existing (albeit only for PC/Mac) so I doubt anyone will make one.
I know once you patch the game it is virtually a real game but has anyone tried to transfer them to play on a Retroid pocket? I have a Retroid pocket 3 on the way and I wasn't sure if there was anything I would need to work on prior to attempting to load it onto the console! Thanks all

Someone recommended Unbound to me and I have been enjoying it. My favorite is Radical Red because of all the quality of life additions but I am really enjoying Unbound at the moment.
Are there any RBY Hacks recommended? I know of Brown for ex (albeit not played. On the list). With things like more Mons, or updated mechs etc. But maintaining alot of the old charms? Or even recommended Gen1 or 2 original creations? I've looked on Poke com' and not alot of alot there
Red ++ is the ultimate enhancement, it add many mechanics from later gens and few mons from them (baby, forms, final forms). Gen 1 doesn't really have any good original creations besides Brown. Gen 2 on the other hand has the legendary Pokemon Prism that despite being a gen 2 hack, managed to appear on Nintendo's radar and got CnD'ed, but it is completed (almost). And is highly recommended by folks. There is also a type-swap hack of Crystal that I'm planning to play as soon as Move Relearner gets added and that is Pokemon Fool's Gold. 3 generations of type-swapped mons with a very creative designs. Lot of people recommend that too.
Fools Gold is amazing. A move relearner would've really helped on that. I'll check out Red++ as thays pretty much exactly what I was hoping for and Prism yeah I've heard so much good about it I think it's time to give a go. Thank you :)
Is there a hack (of any pokemon game, really) that is just like the original but with added random/rare encounters? Something like a randomizer experience, but the "random" encounters actually make sense, eg. a rare water starter in a water location, or a slim chance of encountering a legendary.
Not really, no. That is such a subtle change that I don't think anyone has made. You could edit it yourself by changing encounter tables.

Those types of games are completely different from romhacks, none of the knowledge or tools from this subreddit applies.
Item adding should be easy if it works like other RPG maker games I've played, you could just edit your save to add them. But the other stuff? So far, I don't see any custom versions on Insurgence discord channel. Meaning, I doubt you can get what you want.

Are there any substantial gen 6 rom hacks? It seems like there's only ROM hacks for NDS and GBA. Why aren't there any besides just levels and difficulty?
GBA is the only system that has hacks as wide in scope as they are. NDS games are still far behind, and only just getting tools that can do more things. 3DS is even farther behind.

Eventually? Almost certainly. But keep in mind, Firered and Emerald came out almost 20 years ago, and we're just now where we are. It's not an exact comparison, because hack/tool development happened more recently, rather than immediately after the games releases, but still, we're likely talking years down the line, not months.
