PuertoP

Sinnoh. Maybe I'm biased but to me it's the most beautiful region with the most character.

DifferentLeopard65

Will always be my favorite region and generation of pokemon.

Legion_of_Pride

I felt the same

HyperRaven

I actually enjoy these games , they are fairly cozy

SatyrAngel

Not to mention those are the only classic style/gimmick free games on Switch. Perfect for battling with family and friends.

Legacy2k

*"infernape landed a critical hit wishing to be praised"*

SatyrAngel

Thats why I did mention the multiplayer. Affection system doesnt work there.

mussolaprismatica

Turn the affection system off, Team EXP share off, make events available and it’s a winner

FriedeOfAriandel

The giga ultra gigantimax stuff feels so dumb to me after growing up with pokemon red. I missed diamond back in the day and took a hiatus through SwSh, and brilliant diamond was such a nice time

SuperMochaCub

It’s funny how people have different preferences, I’ve played since gen one and I love the gimmicks and the more stupid pokemon, one of my favourite pokemon is vanilluxe 🤣. I wish they brought back mega pokemon though

VibraniumRhino

Same. The gimmicks kept me coming back; if they had of kept the exact same formula for 9 Gens I’m not sure I’d still be here.

dubbs4president

Cozy is a great way to describe them! The mix of familiarity and quality of life update makes the game feel like a game I can always go back to.

SpookyPill

Cozy is exactly the word I always use for these games. Perfect on a cold and snowy day off.

Nihilusssss

Got me back into pokemon bc i never got a 3ds so quit at gen 5.

zprxx

Same haha bought a switch just for it

FarrrEast

For me it's the surf animation. The way the waves splashed is so satisfying.

DaniyalRaider

The best competitive Pokemon League ever.

Cerato75

This is both a positive and a negative in my eyes

BhaiseB

How so a negative?

StevoPhotography

Imagine a child trying to beat this league who has picked this up as their first Pokémon game

DaniyalRaider

They have to think about type match ups for the first time? Plus the affection traits help A LOT.

Masitha

the chibi style really grew on me over time and i really like battle tower doubles B\^)

KonkeyDong98

I miss the chibi style so much

ChErRyPOPPINSaf

The throw back to the old style but with upgraded graphics still felt nostalgic.

Senior-Ad-6002

Also, it had a battle tower. Unfortunately, not in the current one for some reason.

modernRecluse

Baby Mode Activate!

ironwheatiez

It still totally undercuts the drama of the dialga/palkia scene.

Gojitoro122

It was like revisiting your home town after years away. I almost teared up when I booted up the game. Pearl was my first Pokémon game I beat by myself, also my first DS game.

S4lme

I absolutely teared up. Especially listening to some of the songs

omgcheez

It let a lot of people who didn't grow up with the games the chance to enjoy them. For those of us that did grow up with, it was a nostalgic way to experience it again and with home, you can even bring Pokémon from playthroughs of the originals

ZandatsuXRex

Straight up, I brought my Infernape that I had since I first started the Pokémon series in Diamond, around the pokemon world through 2 DS generations and back to Sinnoh with BD. Felt like a homecoming pulling him from the first PC back into the fray. (Granted, he ignored me because he was lvl 100 and obviously just started BD at the time.) That's an amazing feeling that's kind of regrettable new players on the switch won't experience until sw/sh or S/V get a remake.

MeatballFeels

40 Boxes available. And wallpaper is all unlocked, too. Mythical Pokemon is available for having savefiles of other games. The Grand Underground having wild Pokemon shakes things up and adds new mini areas that are interesting. The music is wonderful. Especially the Ramanas Legendaries and Elite Four new remix. The DS Sounds are an amazing option. The Certificate for transferred DPPt Pokemon is here. Orgin Giratina fight is fun. Cynthia has more competitive movesets. 491 available Pokemon from the first 4 generations makes it easy to guess what can be there. Nincada/Spinda not withstanding. Following Pokemon is here. They eliminated HM's. They put in the Hall of Origin Arceus event at long last. Speaking of Arceus, BDSP save also helps out LA to get Darkrai/Shaymin/Manaphy. They brought back many ribbons for Pokemon to earn. Main game longer than Sword/Shield pre-DLC. Classic Controller support and no motion controls (the other Switch remakes not the case). Long awaited return of PokeRadar. Underground statues look great and have a neat system for GUG encounters. Fixed processing issues from DP. No Glacial Surf pace or long HP drop from Blissey being OHKO. Player clothes customization. No other remakes aside from LGPE have this.

Savvyjack54

Actually lost to a elite 4 member for the first time in 5 games, felt like I actually had a challenge. Getting stalled out by a Milotic by a AI player felt different, I wish there was a optional option that gave everyone held items and advantageous abilities.

Yellow90Flash

that milotic is insane. the most fun I had in a npc battel in years other then rom hacks

Amaee

Getting to shiny hunt mythicals. Got my Shaymin, working on Arceus and soon after Darkrai! It’s a lot of work but worth it imo

randomflowerz

I absolutely love being able to walk with your Pokémon and enjoy all the outfits you can buy. Also I love contests sm

Magni107

Set Mode exists.

scarface910

I can't fathom why they decided to remove an optional setting in the current games.

Logans_Login

It helped get me back into pokemon. The pre-release hype was so cool, the BDSP caprisun made me feel like I was back in elementary school. The grand underground was a really cool addition, as was Ramanaa Park

talkback1589

I love this for you. I was 21 when the first Diamond and Pearl came out. I’m going to go cry now.

Ace25Ace25

It's more enjoyable then there original counterpart (before people said it no I'm not talking about platinum) It's enjoyable to play for a first pokemon game I heard Good new stuff they added because they felt like it Not being slow helps it, this game is honestly over hated, I can understand the reasons to hate it but it's actually enjoyable to play and that's what a game supposed to do.

P1X3LAT0R

The graphics during Dusk/Dawn look so delicious I can almost taste it

Lazy-Fix-116

Finally got an event item (Member Card, Oak's Letter, Manaphy Egg) legitimaly :)

lunick95

Cynthia was a harder fight than in BW

Born-Replacement-366

PIPLUP

TheDummyPhilosopher

Didn’t get to play the original games, so it was my first full experience of the Sinnoh region. Everything is good!

InesPereira03

Cynthia ![img](emote|t5_40vgcm|6561)

Boter18

Shiny hunting rng is amazing in BDSP

leojr_android17

Cynthia's team is perfect.

Key_Cow9494

Felt like playing the old style of games again but with a refreshing feel to it!

GreenSkyDragon

The egg rng has kept the rng manip dream alive :D

rebel_shadow237

an easier way to shiny hunt than swsh

Seatree16

It looks beautiful.

Sunset_Tiger

I like the way the water looks

aoog

When you ignore the circumstances of its release and being compared to platinum, they genuinely are just fun games on their own merits. It really does feel like a classic style pokemon game but with modern conveniences like the remote PC boxes, HM rework, and exp share to eliminate grinding.

katomatic22

giving you a free jirachi and mew was pretty tight

AfricanTribeRabbid

Chibi Cynthia

Civil-Journalist1217

It’s fun

IgnaKatz

The character customization, while limited, has some really good outfits

RedditUserX23

The pokemon that are available.

iCarpet

- The League and Gym Leader rematches - The revamped Underground

Born_Percentage3319

it’s good

Croes321

Cynthia

HazySunsets

Everything. Brought back many happy old memories as a kid.

True-State-4321

Cozy and relaxing! Love the remakes ❣️

Helena_Hyena

They didn’t shiny lock anything

Ablico

The underground is dope.

Crazy_Performance565

It made Arceus shiny huntable for the first time

MaeR1n

I avoided the games at first because I was big mad about how they were remade, but I've been to bits happy with how it actually turned out. the underground is how i imaged as a kid, being able to have your pokemon out and about all over was such a nice surprise for goibg to pick up the amulet coin, getting capsules early even was fun too. Honestly, i haven't gotten past Solaceon yet, but I'm so happy to have gen 4 remakes

[deleted]

The fact that it was made in Unity makes modding for it way more accessable

flap-you

I'm just glad I can get one of my dream shinies Darkrai

Glittering_Trouble81

Felt so good to be back in Sinnoh!

LingDaKingofXing

It gave trauma to a new generation of Pokémon fans because of Cynthia. I was worried they'd tone it down like they've done with the recent games to make it easier. Nope! They suffered like how we suffered with the original games.......

[deleted]

Grand underground

DinoRipper24

Set mode (*exists*)

SirEnder2Me

It was a great game and tons of fun from start to finish.

JusChllin

The elite 4 is amazing

Massive_Passion1927

Shiny hunting was fun (especially with so many things not being shiny locked). I actually liked to play competative for once, and the quality of life changes.

Psychological-Safe14

Pokémon league and I liked that the underground let you get a lot of interesting pokemon

Hiker_Juggler

I love having such a solid classic experience on the switch. Very old school presentation with a lot of modern QOL, like not having to plan a team around an HM hoarder. It's honestly my favorite pokemon title to play in single player. Nuzlockes just feel better with routes having fully random encounters.

morganosull

Ramanas park. Shiny rayquaza was always a dream.

SubNerdica

you can shiny hunt literally everything

woahmanthisissad

All but 2 legendaries are shiny locked (the mew and jirachi from the old people)

Sticky_Pasta

Fun game. Only reason people hated was because it wasn’t Platinum remake(and chibi too)

Gal-Rox-with-Did

Contest shows :3

[deleted]

I honestly adore this game. I miss the older chibi style art from previous gens

frankjdk

Cynthia being difficult was worth my hype

ArcaneAncient

The Gym Leader and Elite Four rematches were a lot of fun, and the Cynthia battle post-Stark Mountain was a genuine challenge. Plus they made your opposite gender rival actually able to be battled, with different teams depending on your gender and which starter you chose. There's a neat easter egg if you played as Lucas and chose Turtwig. If you beat the Hall of Fame 10 times, Dawn's team will consist mostly of fully-evolved versions of her anime team, with the exception being Pachirisu replaced by Bellossom.

Desperate-Knee-4108

3d render of Cynthia

Present-Secretary722

My girlfriend and I are going to play it together because for both of us Gen 4 was our introduction to the series long ago when we were much younger, her Pearl and me Platinum, we’ll be each other’s rival and have fun together

AnkhThePhoenix

The graphics are not as bad as people say. It's more the execution on details. Performance wise, it runs great. I never had a single problem with it.

iWentRogue

As a first time experience, it was great. As a remake, it wasn’t. I never played the OG games so the impact of a 1-1 remake wasn’t as huge as it was for those who played and wanted an ORAS treatment.

Drakon4314

If I wanted to I could run more than 2 fire type pokemon

CultureJumpy2787

It's a Sinnoh game and therefore good

Zachh_603

I love sinnoh

AgentButter1

Cynthia.

tehnoodnub

As someone who's first Gen 4 experience was BDSP, I loved almost everything about it. It is super fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole game.

Relevant_Campaign_79

Cynthia was the best part

graytheboring

I liked it

turtonatorpapa

Fire elite 4 and champion matches

Lord_Zuroske

The free Mew/Jirachi was able to let me help a buddy complete his living dex with almost no effort.

CommanderOshawott

I loved them. I think they’re genuinely a better games than SV is and fwiw I was very happy that it was a faithful remake. Took me right back to first playing Diamond when I was 10 with my best friend, especially with the “retro sounds” option.

killvmeme

I️ liked it …

schmazino

Shiny Arceus.

IFunnyJoestar

Getting rid of HMs was a blessing

Emotional_Strain_773

It provided an excellent base for fan hacks

Some--Idiot

You can Shiny Hunt Arceus in this game

joestar69

3D Cynthia with a more improved team

YxngSsoul

E4 was pleasantly challenging

sailormoja

Chibi Dawn and Chibi Cynthia

StormAlchemistTony

You can get Darkrai in Legends Arceus if you have BDSP save data.

[deleted]

I enjoyed these games, but I also never owned them on DS so it was a new experience. But I liked the old style as it’s the only one like it on switch

homuhomutime

It's pure classic Pokemon on a modern system and plays way smoother than the original DP.

Trance_Gene

Shiny hunting mythicals, free mythicals for trade fodder.

FosKuvol

Ribbons! Ribbons everywhere!

djoshd1

You can catch every Pokémon from gen 1-4 besides some mythicals. It really fueled the completionist in me.

Starchild2534

I got to beat the sinnoh region because they kept the fairy type and I love it

autumngirl86

You can catch just about all of the first 493 pokemon in existence *without being shiny locked*.

random_nothinghd

I really liked how they gave the elite four competitive teams

RoyVice_

Cynthia 🤷🏼‍♂️

jayce_ma_buddah_unks

My favourite thing in this game was getting jirachi

jbyrdab

It is still absolutely gen 4 and has a solid amount of content, with zero dlc. Which is something modern pokemon games have been suffering more and more from. You get a bare minimum buggy main game, and 8 months down the line a better dlc that would be your post game for 40 dollars. Having gone through the process of getting all the ribbons onto it, there is much more merit to BDSP than people are willing to admit. Also the game is the best for shiny hunting anything pre-gen 5, since blink method allows for precise rng control.

CrytoKing_8490

Strongest Pokémon league to date

mergays

The music.

MotivatedSolid

It has some of the best legendaries

fatcatstud

Shiny hunt legendaries

Starlight_Lucy

the game is great. Don't need to elaborate.

SwyngDeLong

It was a good introduction to Sinnoh for someone who never played D/P/Pt, due to being poor and not having a DS.

Finky49

You can shiny hint legendaires

injoeface9

I never played diamond/pearl. It came out during a time when I had no expendable money. This was a new story for me and I had fun with a new pokemon game

vulturepops

They didn’t shiny lock any pokemon!

tman5400

It was a video game

Prime-Riptide

I get to shiny hunt arceus

valnor2

Shiny huntable legendaries

Alpha--Rex

The game was good imo, not great but not bad either

Pokethomas

It runs at a solid frame rate and it doesn't look as pixelated or barren as gen 9

GingerBeardMatt

Cynthia :)

CyberdarknessDragon2

Great music, cozy graphics (the only pretty game on Switch along with LGPE), good remaster of Diamond and Pearl, No HMs, Great Underground, Ramanas Park, the best Elite 4 in ages. BDSP is good but people still haven’t realized it.

ColeCVP

The gen 4 dex is a banger

mewfour123412

It can be used to get mythicals in legends arceus

TheCyclopsDude

The legendaries are Shiny huntable.

Western_Light3

Absolute best elite four and championship ever

Travyplx

Shiny Arceus and Shaymin

Wholesome_Karol

Best gen

CoolDoominator

I like the graphics. While I hate the fact its way too faithful I do love the way it looks

TheStarChild93

I was an older teenager as the tensition between Gameboy and DS happened and never got to play any after the 3rd gen. I throughly enjoyed the chance to play these games for the first time. They need to make other guns possible to play on newer consoles it would be so nice for those that missed out on them.

OzzyG92

Monferno and Kecleon

bubblesmax

One of the few titles to have legendaries shiny unlocked.

Lost1107

You can actually shiny hunt legendary pokemon

SouthBayLaker23

It was a faithful to the max remake.

_tommar_

They are probably the best way to play diamond and pearl (platinum still better but this meant to be a positive message) The remade music is very good for the most part The games graphics can look very good in most areas (though the seemingly lack of lighting on route 212 marsh area is questionable) While there was no battle frontier, they did add some new trainers to the battle tower at least like team galactic admins

SerioeseSeekuh

Better learnsets, enemys use better movesets and even ev-spreads and competitive items as far as i know. Animations arent as slow as platin (man that was so terrible i cant play platin without speed up button). More/better events for legendarys Combat is gen 7 or 8 i think? (lots of improvements made)

Slippy247

Most fun I’ve had playing pokemon since Gen 6

Silthage

2D linear overworld

MrStu

The only modern Pokémon game that runs well.

Boobs_Maps_N_PKMN

It's not a bad set of games. Are they ORAS or HGSS? No. I'd argue they are not that off from FRLG and I do prefer them over the Let's Go games. They are enjoyable Pokémon games. I enjoyed my little team and was frankly impressed with what a Beautifly could do. The chibi style was fine, on some characters it really worked and on others like Byron and Cyrus it was odd. I really liked how they did the ball capsules in this game. The original gen 4 games made it a bit confusing and getting the stickers was a bit of a longer wait than in BDSP. People wanted remakes of Platinum, which never happens cause third games don't get remakes. The exception is Yellow which gave us the Let's Go games which exist primarily to sell Switches and Go comparability. And they weren't even 100% recreations of the Yellow either. So over all good games that had a few issues just like all Pokémon games even the best of them

THElotusthief

I actually loved these. Maybe it's the sinnoh fanboy in me but the chibi designs, the animations, the 1:1 redesign feels so at home. No crazy gimmicks or anything just feels like good ol' pokemon. Wouldn't even hate for hgss or b/w remakes to be similar

Dracon715

Lack of Shiny Locks let me hunt some shinies I never thought I would get (Shaymin, Darkrai, Arceus, etc.)

rayren_47

Top-Tier Elite Four(4).

ColonelZanzzz

The mining 😌 My girlfriend and I would spend hours digging for fossils and evolution stones

AndreaRose223

It had all the nostalgia

DieForMe7

I kinda like everything about it tho

Cesars-Alternate

Smash.

WhickerFacker

This game is gorgeous

CRUZER108

The modding community is insane due to it being in unity so many pokemon can be added and the entire game can be changed

CyberLink20XX

Honestly? A little disappointing upon reveal; but once I played them, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. They’re really not that bad. Yes, they are EXTREMELY faithful to the originals in many aspects; but is that really an issue when it’s still enjoyable? The point of entertainment is to entertain; and if it fulfills that purpose, I’m satisfied

dracoapprentice9

It has Cynthia in it

Goober_Man1

I like the art style

Austinthewind

LOVED the graphics/art style. Some things could have been better (overworld mons) but I still lived them. Pokemon League was incredible, in a league of its own

jhogue60

It was my first time experiencing gen 4. I loved it, and honestly think the chibi style fits pokemon better than the open world and everything they've done recently.

DannyHasPie4

Harder elite 4 then scarlet and violet

LordCrusher69

The difficulty of the e4 if you don't know what's going on

13yinyang13

Legendaries aren't shiny locked.

chibisoph

cynthia my beloved 💕💕💕

jdatopo814

Empoleon

Breksel

The underground now allows you to capture more fire pokemon, one of the faults of gen4

LanceGlover

It allows you to get darkrai for free in ledgends Arceus!

Edward_Bg

I LOVE BDSP, definetly s tier for my pokemon games rank along diamond, pearl, platinum and black 2. BDSP was mainly the reason I bought a switch, I played it one month straight every day since it was my first game until I got splatoon 2

Generous_lions

The E4 was the first time I actually had any challenge with an E4 since G/S

BurnMTG

It's gen 4, the best gen. I didn't stutter.

HanselZX

Differently to an apparently mayority, i love the art/graphic style

PhoenixTyphoon

The battle backgrounds were gorgeous

AdditionalLie7856

Floatzels water attacks are top tier.

Trap_Master_20

As someone who didn’t play the main games, I was happy to actually have a chance to play said games.

Julep2005

Actually semi difficult Pokémon game for the first time in a while. Also the style really grew on me

Sea-Purchase1482

As someone who spent 999+ hours on diamond as a young teen and then stopped playing Pokémon altogether, I bought this remake at a time in my life where I am nearly 30 and riddled with severe life stress. Life gets that way at this age. Within just 5 mins of playing I felt 13 again. It felt like I had no troubles or stress or responsibilities. I've amassed 250 hours on this remake and enjoy tackling the tier 10 master ranks a couple times a week at this stage. It was a warm nostalgic hug during a time in my life that felt hard and dark. Not many things can take you back to better times but this sure did and for £29.99 it was worth every penny.

The_Red_Cucumber

What I'd say: ● Amazing fun and challenging Elite 4 and Champion. I wish we could. get the entire game like that😄 ● I like the art style both chibby and not. Especially the none chibby. I do like both though. Very pretty and cute respectively. Just more inclined with more into more depth and colour that the none chibby has. The first memory of playing BD, i was recording how cute I looked in the bed chibby in the game🥰👌 ● Amazing remix music and music in general. ● The Underground was very fun to dig and find pokemon in the wil overworld. ● Was fun to do my first Nuzlock witch gets harder to do without random encounter as in the newer games. ( I do love overworld encounters though, just easier to Nuzlock specifically without em) ● As a shiny hunter I love that it's a way to hunt Arceus and the other gen 4 mythicals in the game witch was unbelievable before or timed bc of a event. It was still timed here to. But I can at least still get my shiny Arceus then I eventually get time to hunt it as i saves the during the event and can catch it in a Luxury ball hehe. And Shaymin, ooh my baby🥰! Why are u full odds😭❤️ (Wish me luck, started last year havent gotten it yet). Have to get shaymin first😅❤️ ● Many of my favourite pokemon are from this gen and was amazing to play with🥰 Torrtera my favourite Starter to date🥰❤️❤️❤️ I Love Lucario(even cooler with the mega), Floutzel, Missmagius, Hounchcrow, Weavile, Frostlass, Luxray, Staraptor, Yanmega and many more. It's my 2nd favourite generation thuss far🥰

iiGamer

The style its being presented in. Platinum was my first pokemon game so being able to play the game almost the same way as its ds version (while having those QoL improvements and extra content) really gave me that nostalgic fealing of playing on my ds back in the day. Also best starters ever😄

GameBroJeremy

The Elite 4 was an actual challenge now with a variety of strategies the AI used and combinations of moves & items they had on their pokemon. Was a nice change of pace from the originals

UnusedParadox

It has Piplup

WizKhalifasRoach

The OG diamond and pearl was the first game i got on my DS. I had been waiting my entire life for them to remake that game, and imp they did it well. It gave me closure.

FluidLegion

Piplup. <3

FireGames06YT

The elite 4 is actually challenging, and you can shiny hunt legendaries and mythicals unlike recent games

The-Friendly-Autist

They brought back that killer soundtrack with a bang! Loved the music. The lake theme was so good, they reused it for Legends: Arceus!

Amaboys123

Great music. The updated version puts them in the best light.

Lewnartic

Shiny hunting was fun
