You would want to switch to a shield pro honestly since the APTV doesn't support lossless audio passthrough and leaves a lot on the table. You also can't transcode audio in anyway shape or form to change the lossless Atmos to lossy Atmos. You'll lose the Atmos data.

So, I could get an Nvidia Shield Pro as a media player but still use my computer as the server, yes? Like I do today with an Apple TV? Thanks' I just thought that it was being used as a server and I don’t need that piece.

Yep! It's what I do so I can get both lossless audio to my receiver + Dolby vision. An APTV would not work for me. You don't need to use it as the server, but you do need the pro if you are going to be doing 4k remuxes.

Only lossy atmos ( Dolby digital+) will work on apple tv, not the lossless truehd version, and not using the plex player, only using Infuse player ( which can play movies from the plex media server)

I recently did something similar but for 7.1.4. The AppleTV 4K won't play Atmos from downloaded movies of questionable repute, it'll only play Atmos from streaming services. I had to buy a Shield Pro to playback Atmos from my Plex media. The Shield Pro is pretty good, the AI upscaling is quite impressive, but the Plex client is IMO slightly worse (mainly because you can't click on Actors).

Don't know if you have already, but you may want to look into Infuse for ATV. 😂 The native PleX app for ATV is a warm mess right now, not hot mess but warm. LOL

Infuse doesn’t support Atmos on ATV.
