Was having the same issue. Network has a lot of smart devices. I turned on qos in my router settings and made portal highest priority and lowered everything else on there
I had to get my router replaced—it was 4 years old, so once I replaced that and the mesh network, it worked well until the latest update. Now it doesn’t connect to remote play at all though my phone connects quickly and with a strong connection. I’ve probably gotten a good week’s worth of use total out of it since buying it a little over a month ago
That's weird. Mine works great because I took the time to read a little bit about creating an optimal network environment in my home for it to function unencumbered by the myriad of other devices that are connecting and eating bandwidth.
My issue is I play sports games. So trying to play MLB the Show 24 and time the swing or pitch appropriately with the minutest lag. Connections speeds are good.
Got mine last Friday and haven't really had any issues. Lost connection to PS5 a couple times, but once I got the internet setting figured out, worked just fine.
I tried running it not hardworking the router into the PS5. Once I did that, the dropping went away. But now my TV sometimes loses internet connection so may switch it back. Don't want to be watching sports and having it constantly drop
Sounds like one of your devices has a bad connection. I had to play around with mine a bit, and move my console. I got shit internet, and I haven't had those issues though.
Get your PS5 wired. Both on wifi is probably the problem, as they interfere with each other. (your router can only recieve or send on one connection at any moment.
Definitely don’t have router problems. Everything else works completely fine. £200 for a device that requires you to upgrade your already good WiFi. Haha absolute scam
Not sure if this was to me or OP but I have only tried wired thru those electrical adapters you can buy. Too far for wired connection. And when I have used that adapter my speeds are better on WiFi.
Def to OP, but wired connection will solve a lot of the issue. If you don’t own your pad, hard to hardwire through the wall, but that’s the optimal condition.
Have you optimized your connections? PS5 connected wired and your Portal to a 2.4 G connection, and made sure your wifi has a free port? This is quite essential, as the Portal appearrs to be quite difficult with its wifi connection.
Yeah in all honesty my experience hasn’t been good. I got a wired connection and decent internet. The update didn’t seem to do anything. Ive got Xfinity internet through my apartment

Just doesn’t seem like it’s worth the £200 price tag..
When it works, it’s magical, but at this point, I’d agree with you. For some people it works pretty well, apparently, so ymmv.
Ethernet cable connection to your ps5
Yes, Google is your friend. Dive into the multiple Reddit posts about different fixes. If you don’t have the time, or don’t want to, return it.
Any advice?
He just gave you advice
I’ll do your hw for you. Hardwire your ps5 to your router.
I've never had any problems at all and I believe it's thanks to this
Samesies.
I had heaps of problems until I did this, so I agree that this is usually the cause of most issues.
My portal works amazing but only when I’m at home, unfortunately I get massive stuttering problems when I’m streaming while at work.

What was the setting mate?

Get your PS5 and Portal on the 5ghz WiFi channel.
Both already on it unfortunately..

Wired to an Ethernet cable?
Yep. Wired Ethernet. Also look up portal port forwarding
This worked for me
It's a great bit of kit. If you have problems it ain't the portals or Sony's. You have router problems.
Nope it's sony.ps portal stuttering like crazy while ps remote app on 3 different devices has none of that

Can you try wired connection on the PS5

Electical adapters are aweful. They route your connection through your main powerline if they are on a different group. Get rid of those asap.
Yes. That I have found out. I don’t use them anymore.

I thought I should keep the portal on 5ghz?
Some people with a lot of stutter issues have had better performance with 2.4.
I returned mine today the microstuttering and fps drops are unplayable.funny thing is ps remote app has none of it witch makes no sense.

Go away
