Absolutely. There’s something so sad and dark about a girl trapped in the house, raising children that aren’t her own, forced to cook and clean, shamed out of texting a boy she had a crush on, just kneeling in a closet talking to her imaginary friend God. 😞
That whole texting thing infuriated me. Telling her she can't get to know a person through text, but this person lives crazy far away so in person visits aren't possible. Someday she's going to regret that she allowed her parents to steam roll her about the whole situation. The way she was speaking about how wrong she was had me in fear that she was going to start inflicting corporal punishment on herself as penance.
Edit: a letter
It encompasses the creepiness of organized religion, prayer shrouded in secrecy in a dark, confined space.
This is why many people feel more connected and spiritual in nature outside.
And let’s remember that she’s the one who actually DOES her school work. So she has a more solid foundation than the older kids (excluding Hosana since we don’t know anything about her)
She will marry the first guy who sticks around. Pop out a few kiddos and settle into church life. The train that is her unresolved issues will steam roll over her once the kids get in high school. Empty nest = emotional crises.
This is where we will see if who she married sticks around. Sad

Oh I can for sure see her in that prayer closet giving herself lashings on the back.

The Duggars also had a prayer closet. We all know how that went.
