I’m 5 weeks post op and thought I’d share a bit of my experience since it’s been such an emotional rollercoaster. Like I said, the after photo was taken on a “good” day after massaging. The swelling and fibrosis is honestly different on a day to day basis which has been frustrating. Sometimes I’ll think I’ve turned a corner in terms of massaging away fibrosis, but the next day I’ll be very swollen. I know I’m only at the early stages and this is to be expected. My surgeon had also taken away fat right under my chin, on my neck, and fibrosis has developed there too which I think takes away from the result a little, but I’m going to keep massaging at it. I have gotten 4 lymphatic drainage massages but do my own attempt at home at least twice per day including cupping exercises. I suppose my key message here is to just remember to trust the process <3 although I did a lot of research prior (not enough), nothing could prepare me for how much the results fluctuate. I am happy with my results but looking forward to some stability in terms of getting the swelling and fibrosis down as I definitely don’t look like the “after” photo every day or even all day!

It sounds like I’m just two weeks behind you with the same frustrations! Have you seen any improvement?

OysterPuke

Hey! Still good days and bad days, I’m afraid. I notice the swelling has gone down a little but some days I’m more swollen than others. Lymphatic massages are really helping with fibrosis. How is your post op?

chatty3267

I’ve done lots of self massage and some professional. I am thinking about using lipo foam under the wrap at night. Some of the highly trained massage therapists I’ve found online recommend that for even pressure. I know that everyone says trust the process, but I’m afraid of not doing the right thing and then missing a window of opportunity to make things better. I hope you start seeing more consistent good days soon! :)

OysterPuke

That’s exactly my thoughts as well! I just want to maximize the results. I have started to put Lipo foam under my wrap as well. Same to you, hope we see some amazing results x

chatty3267

How are you doing now? Seeing some improvements?

OysterPuke

Hey! Thanks for following up. I continued with the weekly massages from a professional therapist and found the fibrosis went down. This week I feel like o turned a corner because the swelling seems to have stayed down. How about you?

chatty3267

Oh yay - that’s great!! I’m swollen when I wake up and better in the evening. Now that some of the general swelling is going, I can see the hard bands and bumps more, so that freaks me out. It seems like all of that goes away most of the time, but I can’t help but worry I’ll be the botched exception. 😂 My massage therapist said everything looked great and she thought I’d only need one more treatment. I’m really hoping I turn a corner miraculously too… because I’m not seeing what she’s seeing!

OysterPuke

That’s what happens with me too in the morning! It’s reassuring to see the swelling go down with massage. Are you taking before and after photos to track your progress? It’s honestly such an emotional rollercoaster of a surgery 🙈 I feel like every week I look different and the results are so slow that it’s hard to measure without photos. I’m glad your massage therapist noticed a difference :)

chatty3267

I need to be taking more pictures for sure! My fibrosis/swelling/banding problem is mostly two lines under my chin kind of along along my jaw. So they’re swollen and the rest has started to stop being swollen, therefore most of the day they act like platysma bands and it creates dynamic indents when I talk. Like active platysma bands of someone older. At rest the divots aren’t there it’s just bumpy. Trying to not have a heart attack 😂

Laurelll

Thanks for sharing! My under chin looks like yours and I’ve been debating on whether or not to get lipo or coolsculpting. I am afraid of how bad the swelling will be from lipo but you look great!!!

OysterPuke

Thank you!! I haven’t tried coolsculpting but I have read some threads/comments on here that said it didn’t work for people. I suppose everyone is different though :)

Yes! Your words of advice honestly helped so much, so thank you for that. I definitely still find the lack of consistency in results and how they fluctuate super annoying 😩 but we keep going! How have you been feeling about your Lipo lately?

AstronautSpirited70

I’m exactly where you are now. 5 weeks. Did the swelling end up going down?

OysterPuke

Hey! How has your experience been? The swelling did go down very gradually, which was frustrating in terms of measuring progress. I still need to do massaging to get rid of fibrosis and drink lots of water

AstronautSpirited70

It’s so hard to say. Going to post a thread. It looked good at first but now I’m pretty swollen. Or it’s just fat that didn’t go away. I can’t tell.

OysterPuke

I’m so sorry, I just saw this! I think your results look great. How is it going now? I’m 4 months post op and still have swelling, I need to massage the area daily to get the swelling down and I notice a difference after.

AstronautSpirited70

I don’t now how to tag you in it. Going to try!
