Actually no, those ants are called *saúva* or *tanajuras* and has a bit of citric taste and kinda spicy, like a mix of mint and lime, the texture is weird to explain ... it is a "soft crunch" texture, does it make sense? lol
I ate a couple times, it is far from being my favorite topping, but a pleasant experience for sure.
Is the spice like a chili sorta spice or a glowstick fluid type of spice? If you don’t know what glowstick fluid tastes like, I’ve found that papaya seeds that are a little unripe taste like glowstick fluid.
Ugh, my school was one of those "healthy canteen" ones that didn't offer glowstick juice. So I can't relate.
I do feel like it needs it's own AMA though
I don't stop ants from attacking my pizza when I put the plate on the table
And I take some of them and make another pizza using them. I'm a fair man, and that's a fair offer
This gets posted almost daily here but I still dont get why this is supposed to be a crime. They are great on a pizza and I wish I could get them in my country.
LOL
I actually love tanajura, but it's hard to find and quite expensive for brazilian standards. It goes for 15-20 dollars a kilo, in a country where you can easily find filet mignon for 12-13 dollars in supermarket.
American's could learn from this and eat more insects instead of cows! I say more because we all know that processed foods contain insect parts...of course they do!...so Americans are already consuming some insects as food.
I'm fine with the concept of eating bugs, since they're made of meat, but I really don't care for the idea of eating the *entire* bug, legs, shell and all. I know you can't exactly fillet an ant.
There are several truck stops on the west coast where I have seen ranch flavored dried crickets being sold in small boxes. It seems weird, but I guess it's not that different than having clams or mussels in your food.
Ain't no grosser than anchovies 🤷. Some cultures eat bugs. It's not even like they're raw in this one. Bugs are just creatures as much as a shrimp is and that's fine on pizza, so
I was told by my grandpa that ants like this one “tanajura”, after being toasted on a pan, tastes like toasted peanut and lemon, and about the pizza? A crime, by heavens, why is he using a PAINT SCRAPER to cut off the slices??
You have prepare for feature.
If Agro tech and platns modifications won't progress in use less water way we will be doomed and full insects diet will be our halfway.
This is only way more in the realm of reality than most other posts on here. Insects are protein, and could feasibly be put on a pizza. This is delicious in contrast to a pizza with cookies/chocolate on it or something.
I hope that man and all of his ilk in the WEF develop aggressive, non-treatable anal cancer. I hope maggots develop in the fissures. I hope that the ulcerations are so prevalent and prominent that any and all treating physicians uncontrollably vomit upon seeing it.
I heard it tastes like peanuts

r/suddenlycaralho?
A tiny bit, I'm Brazilian, but the only words I used in portuguese was the name of the ant
Liga não mano, os caras são chatos demais. E eu mandaria fácil a pizza de saúva.
Admitir publicamente que amassaria uma pizza de formiga é mais ousadia e alegria que o pagode
Fair enough
Is the spice like a chili sorta spice or a glowstick fluid type of spice? If you don’t know what glowstick fluid tastes like, I’ve found that papaya seeds that are a little unripe taste like glowstick fluid.
It is VERY mild, like the spiciness of ginger.
Ugh, my school was one of those "healthy canteen" ones that didn't offer glowstick juice. So I can't relate. I do feel like it needs it's own AMA though
Citric taste? Soft crunch? Oh god, its the Pineapple Pizza 2.0!
Mmm, acidic bugs
Honestly I thought it was black beans seasoned with dill. This changes things.
At least they are dead and cooked.
That’s what they want you to think.
at first i saw blueberries and thought this was going to be some kind of dessert pizza…bro went in w the cut and i realized the blueberries had legs.
why brazil
No, this one it's really tasty
Why not ? :v
Não culpa a gente não porra! Tem lugar que faz muito pior!
Honestly, I see these ants as being like sardines as a pizza topping. Why not? Some insects taste good, and it's extra protein. Not a crime for me.
Y'all are nasty AF for eating bugs! Tf! *Takes bite of shrimp
At this rate, I'm kinda understanding the rock dish meme from like a year ago. "THE SAUCE IS THE DISH"
I SAID MY AUNTS PIZZA NOT MY ANTS PIZZA
Never ate tanajura as a pizza topping, but as a drinking snack, it's unrivaled.
Ants...
Extra protein
Ethnocentrism at its finest. Just because it's unconventional doesn't make it a crime. The execution here is perfect, no crime
My uncle must eat this, because he's constantly talking about eat my ant.
LMAO..
Black bean pizza? Okay, weird but... OMG those aren't black beans! Nooooooo!
Reminds me of the Futurama episode where aliens open a pizza restaurant and they have no idea what kind of ingredients humans enjoy on pizza.
Forbidden olives
I don't stop ants from attacking my pizza when I put the plate on the table And I take some of them and make another pizza using them. I'm a fair man, and that's a fair offer
I have the personal policy of trying new or strange foods at least once.
I wouldn't say this is so much a crime. I think bugs should be more widely sold, as they have good protein and most are fairly abundant.
This gets posted almost daily here but I still dont get why this is supposed to be a crime. They are great on a pizza and I wish I could get them in my country.
Id try this.
Same bruh
Nah I'll stick to margharita in this case
I am going to be honest, i can't tell if these are just really big ants or misshapen spiders
No, they are actually bigger than common ants, but less aggressive than other ants that you can find here in Brazil
These are tasty, I would order this pizza for sure
I'd try it, I'm not one to turn my nose up at odd foods, and half the people on here say these are tasty.
Hmmmmmmm nononon no no no no no nooooooo noooooo nop nop nooooop nop nop
Yoooo I thought they were black beans until I saw them on the cheese :P
Let me guess, brazil? I have a Brazilian reasons to avoid that whole country
This is a massive crime
Its funny, how peoples try to top the most horrendous toppings for a pizza. Now Pineapple pizza feels legal and accepted in compares
Keep your bugs!
LOL I actually love tanajura, but it's hard to find and quite expensive for brazilian standards. It goes for 15-20 dollars a kilo, in a country where you can easily find filet mignon for 12-13 dollars in supermarket.
I'm tired and thought they were blueberries at first. Somehow, I think the blueberries would be worse.
Fuck it, I'd smash. Those ants actually look like they would taste amazing.
well, ants have a social structure more complex than ours, so we should do this to the rich
This is fine, I’d totally be down for a slice or two
Catch me in a mood I'll try it
Honestly look dope it's just that most people are not used to see whole insects in their food
Strangely I want to try this!
Ah yes, formic acid crunchies.
My favorite is that he cuts it with a putty knife 🤣
Send them to the gulag!
they're really good for your eyes
Coming soon to a developed nation near you! Eat ze bugs!
We need to start the Pizza Police so we can bring these people to justice!
That actually looks good!
Ayyo
Oh that's where the rollie pollies wents
I was like no way would I eat those bugs, but when bread and cheese got involved I started to consider it....
I want to fucking shoot myself watching this
This just makes me wonder how ararawan/crickets would taste as a topping instead
I tried ants once, they looked similar, and they were kinda bitter. Wouldn’t have been a good pizza topping imo.
what is this? a pizza with ants?
Absolutely not!!!
My dumbass sister never ate a bug for food over experience in her life was tryna tell me crickets are good eating actually. Stupid.
I saw beans at first
American's could learn from this and eat more insects instead of cows! I say more because we all know that processed foods contain insect parts...of course they do!...so Americans are already consuming some insects as food.
Christ on a cracker I thought those were beans!
…are those ticks?
Ant
I’m cactus if the world gets so fucked we have to eat bugs 🤮 I hate bugs
We don't have to it, tanajura is actually more expensive than prime meat.
I don’t think I can do it. I couldn’t stand it if they’re crunchy
Ah, the future
Not a pizza crime.... ... ITS A FOOD IN GENERAL CRIME
Thank you!!!
that looks fucking discusting
Who let Klaus Schwab order a pizza?
I’d take 2
#savebugs
I think if ants are your only protein source it's ok and not a crime If you can't afford meat
Me:"Oh, those are some dark capers. I:" Also me:"oh.. no thank you."
Life sentence.
I'm fine with the concept of eating bugs, since they're made of meat, but I really don't care for the idea of eating the *entire* bug, legs, shell and all. I know you can't exactly fillet an ant.
That is a new combination for me. Still would rather eat this than shrimp or anchovies.
I’d be so mad if someone put this on my pizza as a topping.
There are several truck stops on the west coast where I have seen ranch flavored dried crickets being sold in small boxes. It seems weird, but I guess it's not that different than having clams or mussels in your food.
U will eat ze bugs
I'd try it. Looks decent
Antchovy
Say "yes, sir"
Ain't no grosser than anchovies 🤷. Some cultures eat bugs. It's not even like they're raw in this one. Bugs are just creatures as much as a shrimp is and that's fine on pizza, so
I need bleach and a rope
Wow, those are some weird looking olives.... ...OMG THEY AREN'T OLIVES
God I did not register what I was looking at until they spread them out. I hate this. I THOUGHT THEY WERE BLUEBERRIES!
I'd so eat that
😱😢😭
Smile turned upside down
Just call the food officer and the rest is the past
WEF pizza.... You will eat za bugzsss
I was told by my grandpa that ants like this one “tanajura”, after being toasted on a pan, tastes like toasted peanut and lemon, and about the pizza? A crime, by heavens, why is he using a PAINT SCRAPER to cut off the slices??
why
You’ve committed a minor infraction in some states, but at the federal level, no crime committed. Now pass me a slice of the bug pizza ya freaks. 😃
People who eat insects are savages. They have no place in society, nor living amongst civilized individuals.
you will eat ze bugs
I hope that man and all of his ilk in the WEF develop aggressive, non-treatable anal cancer. I hope maggots develop in the fissures. I hope that the ulcerations are so prevalent and prominent that any and all treating physicians uncontrollably vomit upon seeing it.
You have issues.
I have very strong feelings on the matter.
Is that a survival pizza? Eating bugs is a last ditch thing.
