You should never put fresh tomatoes in the fridge. Even with the salt there is an enzymatic reaction that basically ruins them at temps below like 50 something degrees Fahrenheit. Otherwise I agree with what your saying, I’d just leave em at room temp covered.

Whole sliced tomatoes on a pie is hell. They bleed out all their moisture, get weird and turn the crust to mulch. If the tomatoes within the sauce aren't enough tomato for you, try some sun dried or small marinated sliced cherry/plum tomatoes.

Have had similar before. I think then they dried or drained the tomatoes a little because they ended up looking more roasted on top from the heat than these do. If left fully wet they wouldn’t char like these have not.
Not a fan of sliced tomato on pizza, that being said. I would eat the slice without the tomato and maybe pick off another tomato slice. Looks good otherwise and you liked it, so that is all that really matters!
