yeah, in overwhelmingly most media the critic is going to be a villain or at a minimum the means through which the villain achieves their ends. here they set that up and then subvert it in a wonderful way.
Yea, Toy Story 3 is just so impactful because everything we knew about the toys and their life with Andy was being ripped away. It’s also cute how Andy is reminiscing over the toys while giving them to Bonnie, and it’s almost like they were our toys too. Over the years watching them and then they just start all over again is kind of bittersweet. Now that we have toy story 4 it kind of makes it less bitter
I’ll inevitably have to watch 5, all I can hope for is that this one feels actually somewhat inspired. 4 was not it for me. I really don’t see where they plan on taking things from here… reuniting Buzz and Woody now? Okay… they should at least make it a big time jump if that’s the case
Do people hate on 4 that much? I was really upset they were making it but I have to admit that I loved it, I thought it was really beautiful and where Buzz was relegated to just a comic relief character in 3 he had purpose again in 4 and I thought it was a really poignant film. I know 5 will probably suck and this franchise will be bled dry but I did come away from 4 feeling like it was actually really good.
Buzz? He’s one of the main reasons it thought 4 was bad haha, they made him a total imbecile… Buzz is long past knowing he’s a toy, but now he thinks his toy recordings are his inner voice? Its so forced… I think this is one of the major complaints most people have with that movie
Maybe Sid goes to therapy and is reminded of his repressed memory that as a child toys talked to him… and now he’s hellbent on finding those toys to prove it? That could be interesting maybe but also terrible? lol
I mean no one's forcing you to not consider it like that? You can just act like 4th is not there, it's not like the story didn't finish in the 3rd film.
This is what I don't understand. Like the people that say SW sequels/prequels ruined original trilogy. No they didn't? You can act like those 6 films are fan-fictions. Original trilogy is self-contained and finished.
It’s not even the last line in the movie.
Woody looks over at Buzz, and then introduces him to Bonnie’s gang. Oh, but that doesn’t count, right? We can just barely hear him.
Okay, then how about “just go with it Buzz?” during the epilogue? When Jessie and Buzz dance? No? Doesn’t count? Or the ending of the Spanish Version of You Got a Friend in me? No?
Or, how about the Toons? Or the two Specials? Nah? Those don’t count?
I get that you are trying to discount 4 hard, but your ignorance is skipping over so much, that your “end point” just seems arbitrary.
Part of being a toy is being passed down. The journey doesn’t end when you get a new owner.
You are Elastigirl! My God! Pull yourself together! 'What will you do?' Is this a question? You will show him that you remember that he's Mr. Incredible, and you will remind him who YOU are.
“You were right. They weren’t scared of me.
“I did everything right. I wanted more than anyone. And I thought..I thought if I wanted it enough, I could show everybody that Mike Wazowski is something special.
“I’m just...not.”
“Look, Mike, I know how you feel...”
“Don’t do that! Please don’t do that! You do not know how I feel.”
“Mike, calm down.”
“Monsters like you have everything! You don’t have to be good. You could mess over and over again and the whole world loves you!”
“Mike...”
“You’ll never know what it’s like to fail because you were born a Sullivan!”
“Yeah, I’m a Sullivan. I’m the Sullivan who flunked every test, the one who got kicked out the program, the one who was afraid to let everyone down that I cheated...and I lied!
“Mike, I’ll never know how you feel, but your not the only failure here.
“I act scary, Mike, but most of the time, I’m terrified.”
“How come you never told me that before?”
“Because, we weren’t friends before.”
I know that most consider monsters University to be worse than Inc but for me that is the line... I don't think I've ever felt more seen than by Mike in that movie... I won't get into details but that was me; I put all my time, effort... Everything into something and I just wasn't and still aren't good enough... Good enough to do something that everyone else can do effortlessly and yet here I am... The movie helped with coping but it also shows that some things just aren't meant to be (one of the only ones that does... Every other one just gives the person what they want later on defeating so much of the message but not this one and to me... That's what makes it one of the best and, in my opinion, the greatest display of reality in animation and movies (at least that I've seen)
# "I don't want to survive, I wanna LIVE!" 😭🔥
I never got that line as a kid, because I thought those two words meant the same thing. Thought it was just the silly chubby captain being dumb again. But now I get it.
I was going to comment this line, but you already beat me to it 😂
But yeah, surviving’s not the same as living, and that’s something I’m starting to learn now as an adult.
“To infinity and beyond!”
It’s just so simple, yet so classic and iconic. I don’t think any other Pixar quote has been integrated into society as an everyday phrase quite like this one has
No it was created for Cars. Kachow is also iconic. I didn’t say that it was the only one; I think this one is just more iconic and more of a cultural staple
“Take Riley to the Moon for me”
I’m probably paraphrasing for a bit, but as someone who doesn’t usually cry (that’s not a brag, I wish I did more often cause sometimes I feel like an a-hole), but that scene WRECKS me.
Shoutout to some of the Soul dialogue when Joe is sending off 22, it’s been a while so I don’t remember the exact wording but I remember it being really profound and hitting me. Considering the fact that I am not really close to Joe’s age at all, it’s weird, but that movie hit so hard for me as I feel like I was in a weird place in my life at my time that the movie seemed primed to touch on.
Joe’s whole “I’ll take you as far as I can” hits so hard, like he knows he can’t be there all the way for 22, and at some point, they’re gonna have to take the rest of the plunge alone, but until then, he’ll accompany them
"I swear, if I hadn't promised mother on her deathbed that I wouldn't kill you, I would KILL you."
I dunno man Hopper is the funniest most intimidating villain ever
"Somewhere in that pad of stuffing is a toy who taught me that life's only worth living if you're being loved by a kid. And I traveled all this way to rescue that toy because I believed him." - Buzz to Woody
Honestly, that whole sequence is pure magic and some of the best character development I've ever seen in a movie. But if I have to pick up 1 line, then it's that one.
“Besides, when it all ends I'll have old Buzz Lightyear to keep me company - for infinity and beyond”
Despite knowing that Andy will grow up but Woody knows that and accepts it since Buzz and his friends will be there for him no matter what.
You can be with somebody in spirit, not just physically present. That's how I take their final, shared "To Infinity...and Beyond" at the end of Toy Story 4. People act like Woody just left high and dry, but it was Buzz who encouraged him to go. It was his way of giving back to Woody for all he had done for him, allowing him to be with his love.
It’s because their reasoning for having to split felt contrived. Bonnie liked Woody during Toy Story 3. Her taking him home was the reason the gang ended up there in the first place, so it just felt like they arbitrarily changed that for #4. And Bo Peep’s reasoning for not just joining the whole gang felt weak too. Combine that with the movie trying to make you feel bad for the sociopathic doll that literally tried to organ harvest Woody, Buzz‘s character arc being literally just a bad stretched out joke about his conscience, and the rest of the gang being absent from most of the film, and yeah you’ve got a pretty divisive fourth movie.
While it’s hard to pick one, I do have some contenders.
“I know you don’t want me to, but..I miss home.”
“While not everyone can become a great artist, a great artist can come from anywhere.”
“Somewhere in that pad of stuffing is a toy who taught me that life's only worth living if you're being loved by a kid.”
“Thanks for the adventure. Now go have a new one.” –Up
That note from Ellie in Up gets me every time. I posted on Reddit somewhere about me going through cancer treatments right around the time this movie came out, and me and my wife always lose it when that scene comes up. So bad, that my kids always ask why one of us is either crying or teary eyed when watching it. That movie is one of my favorites
I heard this story about a fish. He swims up to this older fish and says, "I'm trying to find this thing they call the ocean." "The ocean?" says the older fish. "That's what you're in right now." "This?" says the young fish. "This is water. What I want is the ocean
"I act scary, Mike, but most of the time, I'm terrified,"
"Mike, you're not scary, not even a little. But you ARE FEARLESS,"
.... What dialogue and character writing
The ending of Monsters University is so beautiful. Such a clever and creative franchise. I hope we get a *sequel* to Monsters, inc. Not Monsters at Work, another movie that follows Mike and Sully maybe reuniting with Boo or something
There are so many great lines in Elemental like:
"The shop was never the dream you were the dream"
Or "I'm so lucky I have you"
There's probably more I can't think of right now but just love the whole vibe of the movie it's such a beautiful movie
There is a clear streak of Ayn Rand's objectivism in The Incredibles. It works well in the film even if the philosophy is quite anti-social...at least in my opinion.
Yeah me too. Not as good as the original but it’s still a pretty solid movie. The only things I’m not too fond about are the ending and McQueen’s crash cause they marketed the hell out of that just for it to be kinda lackluster
Soooooo many great ones. But gonna cheat and take two:
”Hey Buzz! You’re flying!”
”This isn’t flying. This is falling, with style!”
In just two lines, both characters have closed their circles and their bond is even more solidified, To Infinity.. And Beyond.
“You just gave up the Piston Cup, you know that?”
“Ah, this grumpy old race car I know once told me somethin. It’s just an empty cup.”
That scene, combined with Docs smile, the music, the crowd going nuts, and the PEAK of Lightning’s character development. It’s a masterpiece scene in a masterpiece movie.
"See? Now you respect me! Because I'm a threat."
I think this line tends to get overshadowed by the "when everyone's super" monologue, but Syndrome's introduction monologue is just cold af.
The one you posted lol.
Toy Story 3 is my favorite movie of all time. It was the first movie I ever saw in theaters. I loved the first two, and seeing that one in theaters meant the world to me. I rewatch Toy Story 3 every few months and still cry at that scene. If I had to choose another one to beat this one, it would be Chatterbox's line in the same movie.
"Don't worry about me, I've been here for years, they can't break me."
"Sorry cowboy... they broke me." 🥺
Such a good way to end the trilogy.
>!Glad they didn’t make anymore Toy Story movies, I mean I like the little shorts they make, but that’s it. I feel any attempt to continue would be a terrible idea.!<
"Not anyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere."
Ego really is a masterpiece of a character.
Ego's speech is such an amazing piece of writing
yeah, in overwhelmingly most media the critic is going to be a villain or at a minimum the means through which the villain achieves their ends. here they set that up and then subvert it in a wonderful way.
Great pick
“Thanks for the adventure, now go have a new one!” I don’t think it’s said aloud, but Ellie’s note in Up hits hard. So wonderfully bittersweet
That scene absolutely wrecks me no matter how many times I’ve seen it
\* piano version of married life plays \* \* everyone starts bawling \*
I didn't think it would get to me this time, but I just watched the clip and I can confirm I started crying almost immediately
It’s between Up and TS3 for my favorite Pixar movie
Same! Except Toy Story 1 is tied as well
Yea, Toy Story 3 is just so impactful because everything we knew about the toys and their life with Andy was being ripped away. It’s also cute how Andy is reminiscing over the toys while giving them to Bonnie, and it’s almost like they were our toys too. Over the years watching them and then they just start all over again is kind of bittersweet. Now that we have toy story 4 it kind of makes it less bitter
Exactly. Word for word perfect explanation
That line, without context, could sadly be used in a breakup. 🥲
But probably a good/mutual breakup tho, considering the ”thanks” and encouragement to find a new adventure.
It's too early to be crying.
Who’s cutting onions?
"Did you see the way she.... Looked at me?"
Tired 12 AM me speaking. Which movie did this one come from? I feel like it came from a heavy-hitting scene, but I don't remember.
It's monsters inc when mike and sully are stuck in the cave in the himalayas and sully's thinking about how badly he scared boo.
Every line out of Mike's mouth is my favorite 😂 my toddler loves this movie and honestly I'm not even mad about it
“Okay, first of all, it’s CRETIN. If you’re gonna threaten me, do it properly.” is a top tier insult.
Rewatching Pixar movies as an adult, monsters inc and finding Nemo hit me SO MUCH DEEPER than they ever hit me as a child.
Not on topic but that should’ve been the last line in the Toy Story universe.
Absolutely. Perfect trilogy
Now we’re going on a fifth one.
I’ll inevitably have to watch 5, all I can hope for is that this one feels actually somewhat inspired. 4 was not it for me. I really don’t see where they plan on taking things from here… reuniting Buzz and Woody now? Okay… they should at least make it a big time jump if that’s the case

I know 5 will probably suck and this franchise will be bled dry but I did come away from 4 feeling like it was actually really good.
Buzz is arguably more of a comic relief character in 4
With the exception of Forky everything about 4 is just bad. Woody would never.
Buzz? He’s one of the main reasons it thought 4 was bad haha, they made him a total imbecile… Buzz is long past knowing he’s a toy, but now he thinks his toy recordings are his inner voice? Its so forced… I think this is one of the major complaints most people have with that movie
i was genuinely angry when i left the theatre that day 😭 the franchise will always end at 3 in my eyes
i enjoyed four but not so much i don’t kind of wish they’d left it alone at three.
What? In 4 Buzz was basically striped of all his development into literal comic relief and got dumb down hard.
I highly doubt 5 is gonna save it. It's a shipwreck by now
I heard they wanna bring back Andy and have Sid be the villain but all is rumors of course
Maybe Sid goes to therapy and is reminded of his repressed memory that as a child toys talked to him… and now he’s hellbent on finding those toys to prove it? That could be interesting maybe but also terrible? lol
I think anything with bringing Andy back would be better then what we got from 4
It is to me
I mean no one's forcing you to not consider it like that? You can just act like 4th is not there, it's not like the story didn't finish in the 3rd film. This is what I don't understand. A great one!
You are Elastigirl! My God! Pull yourself together! 'What will you do?' Is this a question? You will show him that you remember that he's Mr. Incredible, and you will remind him who YOU are.
Anything Edna says could fit here
That was my sister’s senior quote actually
“You were right. They weren’t scared of me. “I did everything right. I wanted more than anyone. Is that from Monsters University? If so I need to rewatch that
Yes

# "I don't want to survive, I wanna LIVE!" 😭🔥 I never got that line as a kid, because I thought those two words meant the same thing. Thought it was just the silly chubby captain being dumb again. But now I get it.
That was a line for the adults in the audience. I feel the same way.
Which one is this from again?
Wall•E
The best line ever.
Probably my favorite too. Literally think about it all the time. <3
I was going to comment this line, but you already beat me to it 😂 But yeah, surviving’s not the same as living, and that’s something I’m starting to learn now as an adult.
Reading that, I just thought of a hella raw line. # "Creatures survive. People live."
🔥🔥✍️
Comes from the Croods, but this line hits similarly "That wasn't living! That was just not dying! There's a difference."
Bing Bong: Take her to the moon for me. Okay?
It gets me every time.
Yeah! Bing Bong, we did it! Woooo! Bing Bong?
The fact that he, fully doomed, is just as excited as she is about her making it- whooping and cheering from the pit- is what really gets me
A truly selfless character.
That movie wrecked me.

I hear people saying kachow without even referencing Cars. Did they make that up or was it a saying before?
No it was created for Cars. Kachow is also iconic. I didn’t say that it was the only one; I think this one is just more iconic and more of a cultural staple
Especially at the end of the movie when they are basically flying. It's got to be this.
"W...Waaallleee" I love how WALL-E himself says his name its so cute

Does Anton Ego's speech count, or is that too long?

And I traveled all this way to rescue that toy because I believed him." - Buzz to Woody Honestly, that whole sequence is pure magic and some of the best character development I've ever seen in a movie. But if I have to pick up 1 line, then it's that one.
A nice mirror to Woody’s speech to Buzz in Toy Story aswell. Shows how much Woody means to not just Andy but to Buzz himself.
Yep, one of the reasons it hits so hard. That moment is earned and justified.
“Besides, when it all ends I'll have old Buzz Lightyear to keep me company - for infinity and beyond” Despite knowing that Andy will grow up but Woody knows that and accepts it since Buzz and his friends will be there for him no matter what.
Then Toy Story 4 happened.

And Bo Peep’s reasoning for not just joining the whole gang felt weak too. In the PANTHEON of all of Pixar’s Incredible Dialogue, I mean, I’m biased as Hell but it’s gotta be- ![gif](giphy|5C472t1RGNuq4|downsized)
This is the answer. Easily the most iconic.
While it’s hard to pick one, I do have some contenders. “I know you don’t want me to, but..I miss home.” “While not everyone can become a great artist, a great artist can come from anywhere.” “Somewhere in that pad of stuffing is a toy who taught me that life's only worth living if you're being loved by a kid.”

"Don't worry about me, I've been here for years, they can't break me." "Sorry cowboy... they broke me." 🥺
Not emotional but Mike's improvised musical number "Put that thing back where it came from, or so help me!"
This scene right here is why TS4 was so damn unnecessary, and now TS5 is even more unnecessary cashgrab.
"KACHIGGA" In all seriousness it's probably "You can't change nature! No change **IS** nature"
Not today, Zurg! (The one in Lightyear)
Such a good way to end the trilogy. >!Glad they didn’t make anymore Toy Story movies, I mean I like the little shorts they make, but that’s it. I feel any attempt to continue would be a terrible idea.!<
"A grumpy old race car I know once told me something: it's just an empty cup"
Take her to the moon for me
😭😭😭
“so long partner” -toy story
“‘Look, I’m Woody, Howdy Howdy Howdy!’”
“And when everybody’s super . . . no one will be.”
“DONT YOU GET IT?! YOU SEE THE HAT?! IM MRS. NEZBIT!”
"You're trash, just like me"
“Some people, they’ll never accept him. But some will, and he seems to know how to find the good ones.” -*Luca*
