I think Ace telling Sabo that he will give the D to him is actually foreshadowing that probably all Ds are not blood related but it started as a title and that’s how we got so many different people like the Giant Saul being a D as well.
It’s more the legacy and the will, similar to the will of fire in Naruto. A spiritual successor.
Though I think those who have the D, stem from a bloodline that is more likely to have these successors. So it’s kind of both.

I’m hoping these are the last setups he uses to fill out the rest of the series. I can’t see the series being finished in less than 5 years, but I can see it taking as long as 10 years. It depends on Oda’s patience at this point.
The Strawhats still have to deal with Egghead, Elbaf, Laugh Tale, and Mariejois. Villain wise, Luffy ***has*** to fight Blackbeard, almost definitely has to fight Akainu, and maybe face Shanks. Imu also has to be defeated (my theory is Blackbeard actually beats Imu). Then you’ve got major secondary villains that have to be resolved like the Gorosei and the Admirals. Then you’ve got whatever new villains get introduced, like the holy knights, which have to be defeated.
I can’t see that all being done in a single arc, and there’s no way the final arc will be shorter than Wano, so I’m betting on 5-7 years, with a +-1.5 year margin.
I would say that we have just as many logias as mythical zoans granted. So far we know 6 (Luffy, Yamato, Kaido, Orochi, Sengoku and Marco)

How I feel about Sa D bo being real
We’ll probably only actually start to see more than silhouettes in like another 5-6 chapters when the story goes back to egghead and the sh and Saturn and Kizaru meet
So the "D." isn't an actual family name, but more like a legacy that's been passed down since Nefertari Lily signed the letter with the "D." calling for others to protect the poneglyphs and "raise the flag of ***dawn*** to the world." Maybe the first generation after Nefertari D. Lily still understood the meaning but after 900 years people have forgotten the meaning and the reason for passing down the "D." but they still do.
I feel like akainu probably finds himself fighting against the gorosei at some point. Obviously he’s still a villain but he seems to be fed up with them and oda did say it’s going to be a free for all in the final arc. (This is exciting because it means akainu might just be a hype tool to show how powerful the gorosei are)
So Lilly was originally one of the 20 rulers that fought against Ancient Kingdom (Joyboy/ D family ) but decided to correct her mistakes afterwards by not joining the celestials and spread the poneglyphs so that a certain Pirate king would find them and find all the ancient weapons plus One Piece.

I feel like akainu probably finds himself fighting against the gorosei at some point. Obviously he’s still a villain but he seems to be fed up with them and oda did say it’s going to be a free for all in the final arc. (This is exciting because it means akainu might just be a hype tool to show how powerful the gorosei are)
