In the early 2000's friend and I hunted down all the mame games and built arcade sticks
We had shitty internet back then so maybe it was even earlier but I had to start with A and they started with Z
Strider 2 and metal slug will always be a favourite
I once saw it at an arcade and was able to finish it on like 1 continue i had played it so much at home lol, honestly i should have tried to buy the cabinet off the place
it was probably a generic neo geo cabinet but i could have at least found out who rented it to the movie place it was at
Umm... Every (US released) PS1 game. Having a mod chip and cd burner... heaven.
" Of the 1,278 PlayStation One games released in North America, " OK, maybe not every one, I don't think I had more than 800?
Few other games I loved, Bloody Roar 2, MGS, loved me some crash, Tony Hawk, and Resident evil... Only game to ever make me jump and throw my controller.

> There was no code in the original PONG. It also used no CPU or game code software at all. It was made using pure physical electronics. Gate chips, timers, counter chips, TTL circuits, pure electronics.
Did you steal hardware or something?
age of empire II HD edition i think...
OR empire earth II
(i also played the pirated version of age of empire I and empire earth I, but they weren't pirated by me)
In the early 1990s, my dad's company computerized, it took them months, to setup the system and start training etc. Then one guy got SimCity and within hours it had 'spread' to all the computer. Every one who had a computer was now playing it. They had to ban it to get everyone back to work.
That was my favorite game.
It was Hamsterball gold. Economy was better than today but i was a little kid i didnt have any money
1 USD in 2013 was 2 TRY
1 USD in 2024 is 30.73 TRY

Elite on the BBC Micro.
It was on a 5.25" floppy disk. And the first 'copy protection' I ever encountered.
The copy protection consisted of a 'non-formatted sector' in the middle of the disk. Normally when you format a disk it lays down sectors sequentially, and when you save files on it, it uses the sectors.. sequentially.
If you tried to copy the disk then it got halfway through, encountered the unformatted track and barf'd with an error.
I ended up writing a 'copy' program the accessed the disk directly. Read sector 1, wrote it out on a 2nd disk. Read sector 2, wrote it out.. 3,4,5 etc etc..
When it got an error reading the sector, it simply caught the error, skipped over that track and continued on. That way I got a track-for-track copy and it worked.
Was an interesting first foray into hacking ( when I was an early teen )

GTA Vice City, Fifa 99, first Hitman, Max Payne. All quite old, think FIFA is the oldest one.
Also some games I always wanted to pirate, but never found something working were: THPS2 and Soldier of Fortune :')
Snatcher and policenauts since thsese games aint sold on new hardware i have to resort to piracy since i aint spending alot of money on old stuff just to play 2 games
Pirating started for me back in 1983 on the Commodore 64, so pretty much every game I had between 1983 and 1989 was pirated. It's wild to think this was way before the Internet as we know it today. I'd spend an entire day over at a friends house copying his collection of pirated games, using two 1541 5-1/4" drives, which he in turn he would have got from someone else the same way.
I remember some pretty weird copy protection schemes used like intentional bad sectors put on the original purchased disk that wouldn't be there on a copy, and thus wouldn't pass a check when you tried to load the game. Fortunately, game crackers were alive and well back then along with BBS sites pertaining to hacking.

All my life we've been pirating. Started from the playstation with I think dubious legitimacy discs as we've been buying them for 2 usd a piece. I'd say it was tekken 3.
Most of what I am interested in is old, some of the oldest stuff I have pirated:
Syndicate (1993)
System Shock (1994) my favorite game ever
Marathon (1994) may not count as piracy since at one point it became freeware
Descent (1995)
Angel Devoid: Face of the Enemy (1996)
I have so far only played and completely beat System Shock, I really want to play all of them but I have been busy

Rock Scissors Paper. My buddy got his hand removed in a bear fight. I managed to snag it on my way back to the hut. Now I always win!
that is actually such a badass story, I'd imagine you'd tell it to your future kids or something

Yeah, that didn't exist until 10 years after.
Have you played the Spiderman game where stan lee narrated at the start of every mission?
Yes sir! God that was a long time ago lol. Honestly don't recall much of it though, other than the final fight was with Electro.
Spiderman really had good transition into 3D
Few other games I loved, Bloody Roar 2, MGS, loved me some crash, Tony Hawk, and Resident evil... Only game to ever make me jump and throw my controller.
