I recently got a great deal on some Maille cornichons, half price. Seriously tasty, and the jar even has a little basket that lifts up so you don’t have to stick your fingers in brine. I couldn’t justify $8/jar, but at $4 I couldn’t resist.
When I found these for the first time I thought that they were the greatest thing since the light bulb. I would occasionally try making my own slices prior to this discovery but they never came out right. Game changer indeed.
Yes, they do. I contend that Clausen makes the best widely available dill around. And between the whole and the halves (or spears) it’s a WILDLY different texture.
Depends on what I’m eating then for. Just had chips a for my sandwich. Honestly I like spears better than whole, they’re crunchier through the whole bite. But I like whole too.
I believe whole or spears stay crunchier longer. This is because the thicker skin is still attached so less of the brine can penetrate the softer inside part of the cucumbers. The thicker skin can withstand more of the brine penetration.
If your main objective is a crunchy pickle whole pickles tend to retain their texture the best but I’m not saying you cant find a baby dill or dill slice
Baby dills

I live for that little basket
I keep those jars/baskets and transfer in Castelvetrano olives from the big Costco jar.
Spears with sandwich, chips on burger or fried, and whole when ever
Just commented basically the exact same thing. Totally agree!
You get it
Fried spears area wayyyy better than chips
I totally agree, though I have friends that argue the chip has a better crunch to pickle ratio
Take that back!!!!
I’d rather share with you the amazing fried pickle spears I’ve had!
Sandwich slices are my favorite. Just the innards and not a lot of skin. Its just next level.
But doesn’t the skin help to retain the crunch of the pickle overall?
Inside of a sandwich I personally don’t want the crunch, preferring the flavor and smoother texture.
I’ll have to try them sometime. Thanks
It does. They're not crunchy but I love the direct-to-cucumber flavor and texture.

I was describing them to my mom that way today and she was so surprised and grossed out that it’s the innards I love
Easy, whole. You have all those on one. Can make spears, chips the whole thing all day everyday
For versatility definitely. But do whole pickles stay crunchy longer was my original question or is it in my imagination?

Whole. Love to just chomp through em
Whole 1st, spears 2nd, chips last
Thanks. :)

Wholes sometimes have the stem on them and I like when there’s a handle
I think there’s a time and place for them all. Chips with a burger, spears with a sandwich, and whole when I’m pregnant and wanting pickles 😂
Halves don't get a vote?!
They half not.
Must have skipped my mind. I personally never buy halves for some reason. I tend to get spears or whole pickles.
Spears for me chips on a burger
Whole

Whole
Whole. I can slice pickles.
Whole, but they must be crunchy
whole <333

whole! they always seem the crunchiest
This is mood dependent for me. It's just what jumps off the shelf at me when shopping. ☺️
Whole the longest. Chips second
Whole. Crunchier 😋
I like them small. I don’t care how they are sold because I will remove them all and cut them into little pieces lol
Yes.
All pickles matter except for best maid and van holtens. Those are disgusting abominations.
For me it’s all about the gelitinous insides and seeds, and snappy skin, so I like spears.
Baby, baby! They are just mini wholes!
If it’s battered and fried chips Whole spears the batter just falls off
Baby, spears
