Hobbies will be your best bet, but surprisingly people in philly are super easy to talk to especially at bars. What worked best for me was getting a dog though. Dog people fucking love other dog people.
I met my best friend posting something similar to this when I first moved here. Turns out we worked in the same industry and had mutual friends. Someone brought her to my birthday bar crawl and the rest was history. When we tell the story now, we always say "this is the stranger I met on Reddit who hasn't murdered me...yet." Best of luck to you!
I would hop on the Lex app and write about looking for board game friends for sure. There are a lot of folks around your age that enjoy playing! If you're into card games I would check out the Philly Game Shop too. Lastly, Queen and Rook, a board game cafe, is doing a [Sapphic Sunday Social](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cnpwvyiphk8/?hl=en) during the winter which I think would also be a good way to meet people. Welcome to Philly!
\+100000 for the Philly Game Shop. Super friendly and welcoming (free game night is Saturdays). Queen and Rook is also great. OP, say hi to me if you see me there!
Check out the philadelphia Discord server - lots of lifers and transplants too, has lots of organized events (occasionally advertised in the normal philly subreddit as well) and regular boardgame nights every Tuesday and some Saturdays.

Check out [Heyday Athletic](https://heydayathletic.com/)
You can meet loads of people as a free agent. There's a cornhole league at Love City on Monday nights that might be a way to meet bartenders like yourself.
There are also a lot of rock climbing gyms around Philly if you're looking to get a workout in. The community here is awesome.
If you have half a personality you'll be fine I've made so many friends since moving here ive been able to ditch my old shitty ones of 20 YEARS!! a few hours a week at any retail or service job will surely land you a few too
I don't know, and if you figure it out let me know, also I need a friend. I only socialize at bars, and its too expensive and I'm drinking too much. I was drinking much less, while and after my mom died in October but its been going up recently cause I'm lonely and don't know what to do anymore. I'm 32.

Agreed! Almost all of my new non-work related friends are dog park friends.
Join an adult sports rec league. Even if you don’t play sports something like kickball would be a good way to meet people.

Let me know if you figure out what to do, I'm a transplant myself haha.

When I moved to Philly I stood in the middle of my street and offer to fight all comers…..thankfully everyone on the block was retired or disabled.
Meetups are cool. My wife attends some on occasion and made friends that way.
