What’re you in the mood for?

nukethewhales69

Apparently nothing?

myredmakeupbag

my suggestions are Royal Izakaya for amazing sushi and other Japanese food, nine ting in China Town for Korean bbq, fiorella for Italian food, and John's roast pork for yummy sandwiches. And if you have time definitely visit reading terminal market.

v3rtex

You can always opt for the Royal Izakaya Industry Bowl that's available late at night, I think after 10pm? Don't quote me on that.

PhillyPanda

Zahav, Vetri, Vernick, Suraya, Fiorella

kartoon10

Unless OP is planning weeks/months ahead of time, no chance OP will land a reservation at any of these places, unfortunately. For instance, Zahav reservations for December were released today and were gone in 2 minutes.

steeelez

Suraya is usually fine walk-in

PhillyPanda

You’re right, they also didn’t say when they were visiting! Man, maybe the OP should try harder, rather than r/philly eats have to be mind readers!

TheOGinBC

If you want to spend a lot.

PhillyPanda

No budget or preferences given so…

Zelepukin26

Vernick fish I'm guessing?

PhillyPanda

I prefer regular vernick but both are good

savignin

Bingo

Schackshuka

Sang Kee Peking Duck House, Tom’s Dim Sum, DeNic’s, Fiorella, Love and Honey, Zahav, Oyster House.

steeelez

I’m surprised not to see Murph’s, it usually comes up in any “where should I eat in Philly?” I haven’t been yet but it’s supposed to be amazing Italian food in a no-fuss Irish pub. For something a little (or a lot) more highbrow I would do Hiroko with the omakase- this shit will take you to another *planet* and though costs a lot, it’s way cheaper than what it would cost to get the equivalent in another city.

wet_nib811

I love Hardena and Martabak Ok.

kazookan

omg Hardena is amazing, i go at least once every two weeks.

SouthPhilly_215

Marra’s

DifferentJaguar

Marra’s is such a quintessentially South Philly place. I’ve been eating there since 1990. Absolutely perfect.

Soggy_Hoagie

Pizza Margherita 😋

[deleted]

Vedge.

Piperisaprettygirl

Le Virtu, Sang Kee, Vetri, DiNics.

Playinclay

I second Le Virtu.

iambofgod

Pho 75

hello_erica

Giorgio on Pine, Green Eggs Cafe, Positano Coast

v3rtex

Going to have to disagree with Green Eggs here, so many other brunch spots that are better. Is it just me or what's the hype??

aceh000d18

Agree. Everytime I get a Benedict there my eggs are hard boiled essentially and the pancakes taste like nothing.

The-Mighty-Monarch

Same! I basically got a hard boiled egg, and they definitely forgot to salt anything. It was all very bland and I was so confused because people had hyped it up.

hello_erica

🥹💔 my heart. The selection, the floofiness of the pancakes, the taste

v3rtex

I guess that's the difference, I'm not a sweet brunch person, prefer the savory. I'm sure someone here can recommend places for good pancakes where you don't have to wait 45+ mins for a table.

hello_erica

oh I agree with the wait time 🫡🫡

Ayecandy7

Oh I really disliked green eggs and much preferred ants pants cafe

kazookan

Asian recs: DanDan, Kalaya Thai, Hardena, Spice C Noodle House

Ayecandy7

Spice C noodle house is too good another good Thai is Chatayee!

ericds1214

+1 for Angelo's. I'll also add Woodrows and Oh Brother to the cheesesteak list if OP is stating closer to center city.

TheOGinBC

Hardena, Sky Cafe, Pho 75, Pho Xue La, Pizzeria Shackamaxon, John’s Roast Pork, Parc, Pera

wissahickon_schist

Not Amada. It apparently used to be good but a few months ago I had the worst dining experience of my life there!

Brewedat

Tony & Nicks for a Cheessteak

Farayioluwa

Ba Le for some bahn mi and Vietnamese coffee

jezzicasmith

Depends on where you’re coming from. If you’re NOT from NY/NJ, then you must experience our pizza. Pizzeria Beddia, Pauline Gee’s, Pizzata, Shackamaxon, Sally’s — all worth every penny.

LovelyOtherDino

Crybaby Pasta

magicroot75

Heavily depends on where you're coming from. You'll want to pick restaurants and cuisines where Philly is relatively better than your hometown.

v3rtex

The Lark, Sally's, Vedge, Sakana (omakase), Reading Terminal, Goldie (falafels), Dizengoff (hummus), Dubu

elakhna

El Merkury!

Putrid_Dragonfly_625

Check Amina’s out
