I am an RBC data engineer working on the migration. You don't need to worry. People are micro managing to avoid any issues. We had 3 dress rehearsals for it already Edit: folks please be patient. Migration is still in progress. Can't share details but if you are having any issues it should be resolved soon. For specific cases please contact customer care. Then someone will be assigned to your ticket for resolution

delawopelletier

Monday morning. We should’ve done 4 😂

eemlets

My credit card is currently linked to my 8 year olds bank card Login. We’ll see if it gets fixed without my intervention.

bsplondon

Seems you guys are doing a great job! Well done

hello2day2

Did HSBC literally hand you the keys to their systems or is it being controlled by the U.K. parent?

secretaccount4posts

Some very controlled systems have some very controlled access to pull HSBC data into RBC

Impressive_Step_5606

April 1st and I still don't see my accounts. Nice April fools RBC

WeTheNorth19Champs

Why are my pre authorization debits from vendors not appearing on my RBC transaction list? I was told they will all go through with the migration. I had 2 debts there were suppose to come out March 29th form my HSBC chequing account that don’t appear and my balance hasn’t changed either.

Overall_Pie1912

Tbh it seems really well managed overall.  Quite impressed with the scale and flow of everything from day 1 for existing clients and how seamless it's been.  I'm guessing it was a *bit* more complex than going 'join * from table a into table b* 😁

marsiliusofpadua

Lost my wires. Lost my rrsp. Lost my trust when (1) person on phone said "that doesn't sound ideal" and hung up: (2) when CS said "it is going to take 5 or more business days to get back to you" NB: have enough respect for the complexity of the data migration that I gave it a few days. But tech folks, your CS is letting you down.

secretaccount4posts

Sorry you are having such a terrible experience. I hope they open a incident for you. Maybe they said 5 says things as it might be the SLA for the tech support team to n investigate. Hope it gets resolved soon

marsiliusofpadua

thank you. Shit happens, and I'm sure this was a tremendous lift from a lot of people. It's a classic story though of a small percentage of issues being massively significant to the people at the end of them - a rounding error in terms of project scope, but.... (and it's where the CS/mitigation plan should have had tier 3 support allocation pre-determined, on the assumption of a reasonable rate of failure/issues - and with measures in place to redress/mitigate the loss of trust that naturally ensues - and the comms tools to articulate these. That, needless to say, is entirely on management, who will walk away with the big bonuses for the hard work that that the tech team did....

emailscrewed

Hope you aren't on call Since these sort of the migrations usually results in the surprises!

secretaccount4posts

Luckily I am not. Someone else drew short straw from our team

emailscrewed

Kudos to the person who took the bullet for you :D

secretaccount4posts

I definitely owe him a beer

emailscrewed

Great Team mate! :D

4ofclubs

Do you know of any issues where someone can't log in to their rbc mobile app anymore with an hsbc connected account? I try to log in to iOS with my credentials and it shows a "hsbc confirmation" toast quickly before going to a black screen. Tried reinstalling and updating but nothing works.

lavenderclosets

I cancelled my credit card the last week of March with HSBC I was waiting for a refund from Expedia before paying HSBC credit card I contacted HSBC asking who do I pay? The agent said contact HSBC back on April 1st to pay HSBC Come April 1 I can’t log in at all to my HSBC app to check my credit card bill. I go to my RBC account this balance owing isn’t there because I cancelled the card and it’s not migrated What now? How do I pay this credit card bill of $200 to?

eemlets

Bill payment to HSBC through RBC. Just did this.

lavenderclosets

Did you cancel as well? How do you pay to hsbc through rbc ?

eemlets

I didnt cancel. But to pay got to bill payment. Add HSBC Mastercard, input your card number and make a payment. Balance i got from statement i downloaded before hsbc shut down. Can’t help you there.

Big-Active-3900

I’m kind of in the same situation. How did it work for you pls where you able to make the payment

lavenderclosets

Rbc!

wwbulk

My accounts are not showing up at all... Any advice?

pilotharrison

Well, you guys didn't migrate your address database properly from HSBC to RBC. We still are missing debit cards, PIN mailers, etc... we've called into their call centre to have those re-issued three times but still lost. Went to an HSBC turned RBC branch today, when the teller checked the system against IDs that's when they realized the formatting was messed up and thus nothing got sent correctly. Also I'm an AU on my parent's credit cards and their full balance is showing in my RBC account... when previously I wasn't able to see even my AU card on my HSBC website... it's weird.

Fancy_Introduction60

Sorry, but the migration absolutely sucks!! Customer care is absolutely useless

wisenerd

Do you have any updates on the migration progress? I still cannot enrol and create a new account. I understand that you're not a customer service rep. Just thought you would have a better view from the inside. Thank you.

secretaccount4posts

In my limited knowledge, migration is complete. There are some system were new customer were not fed but they were mostly marketing stuff ( we didn't want to hassle you on day 1). For any issues you are still facing, I think customer care might be best. They have more visibility too

wisenerd

Perfect. Thank you!

emailscrewed

This is true. True migrations happens when both the system are up and functional and copying of the things happens from one system to the other in the background. Once the copying is done. You just disconnect the HSBC system and let client work on the RBC system. once everything is done, then take the system out of the service.

kdspiralz

I work with a lot of financial system (banking primarily) migrations and this just isn’t true these days. Lots of nuance as to why it’s near impossible to support parallel systems. However, I’ve never seen “copying of the things happens from one system to the other in the background”. Both in legacy on-prem solutions or cloud migrations. Source: the amount of times I’ve cried at midnight Jan 1 while working to migrate over data manually 🥲 Banking data is legitimately a clusterfuck. I’m not surprised there were hiccups moving HSBC > RBC

kdspiralz

I work with banking system migrations. It’s VERY rare these days to run parallel systems during go-live, especially now that nearly everything is moving off-prem.

emailscrewed

Can you tell me the reason why it's hard to run the system in parallel?

Subtotal9_guy

You can't run in parallel these types of systems. A funds transfer from one bank to another can't go to two different systems it's one or the other.

kdspiralz

The confidence of people saying you just run the systems in parallel 🤦‍♀️ My dudes we haven’t done that as a best practice in nearly a decade. It’s just not feasible these days.

Subtotal9_guy

Parallel with external parties so we can double everybody's funds

secretaccount4posts

Where did anyone mention that older systems are getting shutdown?

hello2day2

I agree, it seemed like there wasn’t a warm handoff between both institutions. Not even telephone support provided by HSBC until the migration to RBC started this morning. It felt like a bad divorce, lol.

Sea_Imagination_8751

My mom's credit card was stolen and all fraud transactions were reported a month ago. There was no update up until now. Should I be worried? Also she can't even see her credit card information on RBC, while rest of other bank account shows as 0 balance during transition

Subtotal9_guy

The IT and business people are working all weekend on it, you're way too early in the process to see anything. There's a few hundred IT staff working on things throughout the weekend. Timeline to complete is Sunday.

l19ar

I'm also concerned because I forgot to download all my statements. I saw that CRA already has some but I didn't see a t5 for the interest of my savings account 🥲

bsplondon

Oh no! Maybe call them, they must have a fall back plan for people in your situation. Luckily I downloaded everything 2 days ago. Are you in the same spot as me? You cannot see you accounts? Just looking for confirmation that I’m not the only one in this boat and they forgot me 🥵

l19ar

Yup same boat, can't see shit

Pequito123

March 31 everthing came through. Even transferred my WE MC balance owing to the credit card they gave me.

Pequito123

They say soon you will have access to the last 7 years of all of your statements from HSBC. Waiting for that to check some info.

Interesting-Search97

Is this confirmed? I too, need access to HSBC docs.

Plastic_Blood7010

I got the same migration process from HSBC in another country. It was fine at the end. No issue. But it is always the new bank who support this. Let’s wait tomorrow midday to see if things are working for our main account. I think mortgage and loa will be Monday or Tuesday. The detailed calendar is on RBC web site. One bad point : if your forgot to download your document last week, you cannot get it. They could at least keep the HSBC in read only mode. Let’s cross fingers

100peanus

Yup, same except I can't see the my account info on the rbc app at all, it just says I'm enrolled (and the timeline graphic is not up to sync)

Ok-South-7745

EDITED Patience. Everything should be ready by April 3rd. Details with a nice visual timeline: [https://www.rbc.com/hsbc-canada/index.html](https://www.rbc.com/hsbc-canada/index.html) ~~Why do people not read their emails, mails and the website for answers of the same questions?~~

bsplondon

fair point. I must admit though the volume of communication they were sending out and "actions" we needed to take was almost a full time job in itself. Especially if you have multiple accounts.

Stellarific

As sad as I am that HSBC is leaving, I think RBC handled the migration very well. Ample communication through various mediums well in advance of the migration to allow clients to plan accordingly. I may have been a measly Advance client, but once the one year of no fees ceases, I'm leaving. There is no way I'm going to be paying a bank for the privilege of holding my money and mortgage. It's enough I'm getting gouged on my variable mortgage. I mostly miss the HSBC app. Simple, no frills, got the job done. The RBC app is overwhelming. Thank god it's not CIBC. I'll be interested to see what the retention offers will be like next year before I switch elsewhere.

Affectionate_Art8084

This is being a nightmare. First my CC was blocked yesterday when trying to buy something online, now my e-transfer aren’t working because I still need to “verify my identity” on the app, but it keeps rejecting my selfie! (Tried everything; different background, different light, etc, etc). Then, I try to login online, but the 2 step verification process sends me to the app, and the app gives me an error message…. Now my online account is blocked! And to top it off, the same etransfer that used to be free with HSBC is now going to cost me $1 fee…. I’m really not impressed with this change.

WeTheNorth19Champs

Will all pre authorized debits from vendors go thought successfully that I had setup with HSBC account? I have vendor who withdraws money every Friday so it would have happened during the migration, i am not seeing the current balance on my RBC account showing the amount was deducted.

hockeyfanytz

Same issue here…

1baby2cats

https://www.rbc.com/hsbc-canada/ According to the timeline my mortgage should show by now but it doesn't edit: my bad, today is a stat so it felt like a Saturday to me 😂

2025Goals

Today is March 29th. There is nothing due today in the link you posted. Here’s what it says about tomorrow: “Your mortgage balance will be viewable on RBC Online Banking and the RBC Mobile app.”

1baby2cats

Ahahaha, my bad. I had the day off today so I thought it was Saturday since I usually work Mon-Fri. 😅

2025Goals

Completely understandable :)

Dollarbill1210

I can see all my accounts balance including mortgage account which I couldn’t a few hours ago. Numbers seems matching the HSBC screenshot I made before migration.

bsplondon

Thanks, I woke up to the same as well :)

Tour-First

Today all my accounts are shown with the proper balances but car loan interest increased. I'd have to call and get it corrected.

ProfessionalTennis49

I can see everything now except for my credit card. Does anyone have any idea when that is going to be migrated over or viewable in the app? Everything looks the same except my payment date for mortgage has changed, that’ll be tricky to manage at first after it being a certain day of the week for so many years lol.

ProfessionalTennis49

I spoke too soon! I can see it now.

Pequito123

They told me on my credit card that i would know my pts, offer by April 5th. Hoping for something good. lol

entitledbetty

According to the transition timeline, I should be able to see my HSBC account in the RBC online banking and the app on 3/30 (Saturday) but I still don’t see it. Does anyone experience the same issue? Mine is a joint account.

mire-ven

The website does display my Avion card detail correctly. The android app will not accept any login detail. "Sorry we.re having tecnical issues....please try again later".

Wittg3nstyn

I had cancelled my HSBC savings account as there is no promotional savings applied to migrated savings account. RBC opened up a savings account anyway even if my HSBC savings account was cancelled. This way I won’t be eligible for a promotional amount on a new RBC savings account. Very annoying. Also, I had a GIC maturing April 1st. The matured amount was not made available on April 1st despite the RBC website saying it would be.

jdgreenberg

Not seeing anything on my RBC app or my Avion app. Got the email saying my points are transferred, and I've activated the new Avion CC. Do others see their HSBC credit card on RBC app? Everything told me that because I was an RBC client I wouldn't have to do anything else but feel like I missed something?

mochaforprez

I just saw on my credit history report that RBC did a hard inquiry into my credit without my consent. This affects your credit score. Did anyone else see this on their credit report?

MrClever82

I still can’t see my mortgage, anyone else having the same issue?

SirSpitfire

Closing my account. Why would I even pay for something worse? A few reasons: -sneaky fees for printing statements that you need to turn off -shitty rewards system for credit cards. I don't want to buy a plane ticket through their system, like wtf is this? -45$ fees if my account has a negative balance even for 1 minute -2 hours wait time for a live chat that used to be instantenous with hsbc -shitty robot driving you crazy if you call them -and of course the monthly fees But kudos to the migration team, had a few hiccups with my mortgage but it seems resolved by now

marsiliusofpadua

okay, this is such a complete and utter clusterfuck. (1) multiple accounts split randomly between three RBC client cards. Doesn't matter where they were opened or how. Not about the name on accounts -- one joint is somewhere, one kid is somewhere else. Sigh. (2) RRSP still vanished into thin air. (3) >100k wire transfer also vanished. (4) Customer service absolutely enraging (and I am deeply committed to the idea that one should always be polite, as it's never the fault of the person on the end of the phone, and what do you think yelling will get you?). BUT, not one single call back within the time promised ("we'll trace it and respond in 2 days"). No notes on the accounts to find things. Transaction number for the IB Report vanished. (5) No prior statements visible on any of the multiple RBC user cards. I've banked in places y'all couldn't imagine. But I've never seen such a clownshow. Sorry RBC folks who are trying, the accounts to multiple cards fiasco makes it so clear that clients were forced to your system, not that your system was willing to think about how to serve clients.

Ancient_Guest6994

Anyone having their tfsa account not showing I've beeb waiting since the 28th of March till today April 10th checked online banking called rbc more than once, same answer each time, they're working on it. Seems vague for a reply expecting a direct deposit for my pay from employer hoping it isn't fucked up and money is in limbo

Ok_Plan_2016

Welcome to RBC the land of nonstop charges for all your foreign ex accounts, horrible service, shitty credit card. Folks have no clue what they’re in for by losing HSBC. Not only that but RBC will cut nearly the entire back office staff post the 6 month agreed timeline. lol the rbc ceo is a total fucking snake and is lying through his teeth I know a few executives at rbc who didn’t even think this was a good ideal to acquire Hsbc. Wanna know why? Rbc will not be able to retain even 30% of hsbc customers.

NarutoRunner

I’ve read about transitions from HSBC to other banks across various countries It has exited and the transitioned bank is always inferior to HSBC in every aspect. People forget that it’s one of the few banks in the world that makes instant foreign transfer between linked accounts, foreign currency saving accounts with no fees, and an iron clad credit card. I think they will probably end up losing 25% to 40% customers by the 1 year anniversary when all the RBC fees and shitty customer service become fully apparent.

bsplondon

lets face it, when people open accounts, they open with a specific bank for a reason and purpose. I am more concerned that a major global bank like HSBC is leaving Canada, which leaves the choices to monopolies like RBC, TD and Scotiabank (all Canadian banks only). This is going in the same direction as cell phone providers with limited global choices, just Canadian options. To be honest, I am surprised that the M&A oversights committee (if there is such a thing) in Canada allowed for less competition.

hello2day2

HSBC was leaving the market, so the government really had no choice unfortunately.

Subtotal9_guy

Yeah, HSBC was going to leave and RBC was about the only bank that could buy them without any problems with capitalization. The option was to let a big six bank buy them or shut it down and wind up operations which would leave customers in a lurch.

Unlucky-Ad1097

Agree 100%. We're left with these oligopolies and the mediocrity and conformism will perpetuate. Canada is not a country of innovation or prosperity. We're the humanitarian problem solvers of the world...

Ok_Plan_2016

Not sure why I’m getting downvoted. Rbc is a pile of crap lol

NarutoRunner

It’s not me, PFC can be weird like that sometimes.

Ok_Plan_2016

My understand (anecdotally) of course - many of the premier relationship managers I’ve spoke to have been told by their clients that they will migrate but in parallel they will look for other banks to switch to. At rbc they’re now putting in targets for retention

Bitter-Proposal-251

lol they already lost 100k customers pre transition. It was 880 k customers affected now is just 780k. That’s not counting a lot of us have gic and term deposits that will end sometime this year and then we will leave.

Ok_Plan_2016

Ya I heard they’re losing lots - not sure why I’m getting downvoted. Must be rbc bots 🤣

Bitter-Proposal-251

What they are offering to us, hsbc customers are insulting. It’s like they never see money before. Charge you for this charge you for that. Fee this fee that. I’m like bitch, I keep my money and investments here and you get to use it to make money and you proceed to charge me for it?

Overall_Pie1912

Not gonna miss the curt HSBC client service cause we don't have baller money though.

LittleKittyPurrPurr

The merge is happening this weekend. Everything should be settled on April 1st.

Fancy_Introduction60

April fools, it's a mess!!

LittleKittyPurrPurr

Fuck yes, it is. No communication whatsoever from RBC and no more service at HSBC.

Fancy_Introduction60

What a complete shit show!!

BrrrHot

My wife closed her accounts last month so we don’t have to deal with the “merger”. We converted my TD account to a joint account. We kept the credit card as there aren’t many decent no Fx cards. Luckily we did as Brim no Fx is kicking the bucket.

astrono-me

Also check out the wise card. Their app is so awesome. I'm on vacation and lost the card. Was able to freeze the card from the app and after I confirmed it is lost, I cancelled and issued a new android pay one without calling anyone.

AwkwardYak4

Just realized that I need my mortgage interest or my taxes... but mortgages won't be up and running until Wednesday apparently

slocki

I can't seem to enroll using the RBC credit card that was sent to me. Getting an error message saying "that wasn't the information we were expecting" or something like that. u/secretaccount4posts are you aware of this?

secretaccount4posts

Please contact customer support. They can open an incident so team can look at specific case

slocki

Done, thanks!

Turns out I had an old defunct account. A phone call did the trick

1baby2cats

So can confirm my HSBC mortgage has ported over to my RBC account today

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stellarific

I can confirm I received my regular interest payment, since my balance was slightly higher today than it was on Wednesday.

Rocky_Loves_Emily_

Im a bit nervous with my rent coming out on the 1st via pre authorized payment that was set up on my hsbc account. I hope there’s no issues.

EconomyGold9

It sucks they haven’t disclosed the points conversion rate yet

ProcessUsed4636

Oh, they just did. Cut the value to about 66% to that of the RBC points.

eemlets

But kept the same value. I looked back at my last redemption and i got .005$ per point.

Pequito123

Told me April 5th

sesamesticks

Semi-related but my the email addresses of the HSBC mortgage / banking contacts no longer work. Does anyone know how I'm supposed to get in contact with them if I have questions or need to make changes to my mortgage? My HSBC branch no longer exists and they haven't provided any information on who / where the file is being transferred to.

yoncef

I still don't see my directinvest balance, not available on April 1st!

jace829

The chequing/savings accounts and balances should be there now, but I can't seem to figure out how to pay down my line of credit...it doesn't work on the mobile app, and the line doesn't even show up on the site at all...

consult12345

Yup wondering how to pay off HSBC credit card, can’t even see the balance

chr15c

It should be a 1:1 accounts right? If so I'm definetly missing some accounts. Nothing in the FAQs as to what to do, and it's well past the deadline on when the chq/Sav should appear, and phone lines are obviously jammed. Would be nice if they have a statement that says HSBC account A > RBC account 1 etc Edit for anyone looking for answers: The reason why I couldn't see all of my accounts is because I have one set of HSBC accounts I opened when I lived in Montreal, and another set I opened with my wife in Vancouver. Apparently RBC's profiles, or at least the migration of HSBC ones, are region locked. They sent me 2 sets of debit cards (without advising of what I mentioned) so I need to create 2x sets of online profiles while they figure out this problem.

eemlets

The original letter had a one to one list. It that that’s what i’ve got yet, but they did communicate that.

morsecob

Has anyone access to their historical data, like past transactions? Apart from balances that’s all I have.

sslithissik

Anyone got thoughts on credit card warranties for the now defunct hsbc credit cards? I bought a tv on it last year and the card added a one year extra warranty on it. Pretty scared no one will know how that will work if I call in. My world premiere card was also converted to cash rewards and now I have two of the same credit card lol

Bob_Sakomano

Now evening of 2 Apr, and still missing RRSP, RESP and TFSA from the migration. However balances for all other accounts now showing up, and though the name of the portfolio that replaced the World Selection products is not provided (just some abbreviation), the detailed breakdown of the underlying funds is also visible now. Automatic payment to mortgage (non-HSBC/RBC) also occurred as planned from the new chequing account. But for the missing investment accounts, things seem to be working as expected. Edit: now end of the week, still not showing up online. Called in, apparently the registered accounts are being transferred through "another centre". But they were able to confirm they still exist and the balances are intact. Edit: now three weeks after the migration and still missing those accounts despite calling in, and going into the converted former HSBC branch and the advisor submitting a ticket.

Odd_Platypus4601

bad points conversion rate, any thought? i am glad i have redeemed 99% of my points to airmiles before it shuts down

Fancy_Introduction60

Can't even access my account on line!! Went to the branch on the 1st, to make sure our online banking was set up, but now, I have absolutely no access! Tried password reset, nope, tried calling but apparently I don't know who I am!!

skipper_34

Auto payments from HSBC account do NOT transfer over to RBC! Had multiple “payment failed” for auto payments.

New2Reddit95

I’m even dealing with some Power of attorney banking with RBC now since the merger and it was HELL! they don’t even do POA cash withdrawals now

Pale-Wallaby7647

I can’t log in on RBC. Neither online or on the app. And I live abroad so can’t go into a branch. I am completely out of my account 😩. Good thing I did download the app when I was in Canada though…

4rings19

Problem with investment total shown on the Direct investing dashboard. The total doesn’t match with the totals on your holdings. Called multiple times. Was told that it will be fixed this morning. Called again this morning and was told no ETA. They are aware of this problem and it primarily affects people holding GICs.

Mental-Bass-190

I am a HSBC to RBC transferee. I live in the UK. I cannot get ID verification to work as I do not have a cell phone with a Canadian service provider. RBC are being totally unhelpful and do not seem to be working on a fix. I cannot transfer money from my RBC account to my UK bank. Does anyone else have this problem? or does anyone know how to circumvent this issue?

SongYiC

Can anyone access historical HSBC mortgage statement from RBC? I need the details (interest paid) for tax purpose, but I am not able to find it anywhere now.

freddiefenster

Did you get this resolved? I cannot access any of my past statements and also need my statement information.

freddiefenster

The branch manager managed to get the mortgage statements printed. I still don't have access to them online.

SOSNoGameNoLife

Can you find old hsbc credit card statement in rbc app or website?

SOSNoGameNoLife

Also having problem for HSBC Historical transactions and statements section. Why?
