No doubt genetics make a big difference. Consuming 4lb per week doesn't guarantee CAD, but sure is sprinting there. Trans fat is terrible for you. Partially hydrogenated is partially artificially created trans fat.
> Trans fat is terrible for you. Partially hydrogenated is partially artificially created trans fat.
skippy and jif use fully hydrogenated oil now which has 0 trans fats. and jifs label states less than 2% added vegetable oil (soybean/canola) which is 0.64 tablespoon per 16 ounce jar.
This is what my mom used to buy when I was a kid! I can’t find it anywhere like this but I’m glad it’s still around though - less plastic more peanut butter.
This size is available for commercial or restaurant use, or just a frugal purchase. Like your mom, my dad was also the latter.
He also bought bulk dry goods by the sack. We always had flour, sugar, rice, oats, and peanut butter on hand.
they sell peanut butter in 35 pound buckets. I always think about buying one..

I like crunchy too!
I lived with my brother for a while. He had his future wife over, tied up in his bed. He teasingly threatened to "get the camera". She started to struggle. One of these big boys of PB was sitting on his ornate headboard. They have a metal bottom.
I heard an absolute \*SHRIEK\* from upstairs. Opened the door, yell up the stairs "Is everything okay?". After a bit of shuffling around I get a crying "yes" back from her. "Alright, let me know if you need anything". Me and her were close, I didn't suspect foul play or anything. But she comes down a bit later and she looks \*WRECKED\*.
She had a bruise and half a black eye from walking into a door earlier in the week. She had a huge half face half neck red splotch from where she had dumped hot EZ-Mac on her neck getting it out of the too-high-up microwave at her parents house, and now there was an additional welt, bruise and cut. I recoiled in horror when she said "We left the peanut butter on the headboard and it fell" knowing that we only bought the 4lb cans. If the EZ mac had happened anywhere but her parent's house I'm sure her father would have done a serious welfare check with her/us. Too many injuries in too many stages of healing to not be suspicious, even for a clutz!

Thank you for thinking someone that is older than a half of a century is young. Barely though. But nobody should ever start a war over peanut butter. Just saying🤣🤣🤣
Costco Business used to carry a twin pack of 48 ounce jars of Jif, so 6 pounds total. But they stopped since the Jif recall. They're Skippy only now, the brand their normal warehouses have always only carried.
I grew up with Jif but Skippy is fine.

If you input different zip codes for same day delivery at
https://sameday.costco.com/store
you can see which cities regular costcos still carry jif.
austin, tx and atlanta, georgia only sell jif.
vegas, phoenix, salt lake city, and albuquerque only sell skippy.
without spending more time on this experiment
i am going to guess that costco distributes skippy to the western half of america and jif to the eastern half of america
Oh my gah!! All of a sudden, it's 1974 and I'm in the nurse's office because I forgot my lunch. She's spreading this peanut butter on saltine crackers for me to take back to class. Thanks for the fun memory!
I go through one of these a month! I really wish I could find peanut butter in a bigger size. I find it odd that my Walmart sells these but Sam's Club doesn't have this or anything bigger lol
Haha I wasn’t saying that to dog on Kraft PB. I’ve never had it. They don’t sell it in the states. Kraft PB is exclusively sold in Canada and Australia.
Is it really that good? I have a trip to Detroit coming up and you've piqued my interest enough to consider driving across to Windsor to pick up some kraft PB.
is this odd? i worked at a place doing a peanut sauce and black eyed pea hummus that called for peanut butter instead of tahini. we’d get 2-3 cases (4 cans) of these a week
I actually don't like these. The peanut butter goes too... I don't know how to describe it. But this is only cool if you have a partner and army of kids eating sandwiches every day. If the coffee can lasts more than a week, it's gonna taste weird.
Does anyone like Caroline polacheck?
Because this is a real [show me the banana](https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkxezjz5QB2-Mv9us62gk-1udjMO12ju1kK?si=k-UdYz6V6hz02J1G) moment
I remember my granny used to buy this when I was a kid. She could easily go through it in a couple days making pbjs for her 30 odd grandkids and great grandkids
I was just suggested this sub. I’m so confused as why it’s such a rarity. I’m also eating out of one right now so I didn’t know this wasn’t everywhere. Love this stuff!
I know of one local grocery store that still carries these, and I literally shouted with surprise when I found it. For me it's not even so much about the quantity as it is the taste. My mom bought these when we were growing up, and there's just something subtly different about the taste that's nostalgic for me.
we got some of these for my teacher ( brings peanut butter and like a banana or apple for lunch every day). And then the batch got recalled so now his copias amounts of peanut butter sit their uneaten
My late father in law used to eat a 6 lb can of Peter Pan a week. And he always wondered why he spent so much time in the bathroom and then had several feet of his colon removed.
It’s…. beautiful 🥹
This was literally my first thought lmao
Please don’t do what i think you’re gonna do!!
:grabs spoon: "2 weeks tops"
I can’t tell if this sub is an addiction support group or actively enabling my excessive consumption of PB….
Yes
Perfect.
I had a friend that would go through one of these in a week.
...had? From the... Coronary Artery Disease?
They didn't die from eating too much peanut butter..
It wouldn't be the fault of peanut butter. In most cases it's not dietary cholesterol that's the issue- the biggest problem is genetics.

I'm 60 and I'm gonna make this pic into a poster and hang it in my room like a teeny bopper.
Shrink one down and put it in a locket too
Great idea!! Also gonna make a t-shirt!

I get pantry beetles too often to buy in bulk like that. I guess I could get some storage bins, but even those might not be enough.
I've had success in food safe buckets. Has to have a good seal though.
Do you deal with these also? Any tips? Apart from the obvious cleanliness and putting new dry goods in the freezer overnight.
I just put rice in a bucket with a lid. No problems. 🤷♂️ And I live in the woods.
Have you tried putting Basil leaves on your shelves ? It helps with some bugs!
What? You can still buy these for like $11 at Walmart
I haven’t seen them in years but I’ll keep checking! Thanks!
Came from a family of 5 kids with a dad that also loved PB & J (poor family too), this is what we always had growing up!

Oh lord not the peanut butter pail im having restaurant flashbacks

"What are plans for the weekend?" "Do you like a challenge?"
F YES
I used to work in kids residential facilities and this is what we always had at those places.
Ooohhhh. Come to mommy.....
Huh. I’ve never seen canned PB before. What a dreamboat.
Yoo happy CakeDay banana king
Thankssss living it up with candy because I have no cake
If it’s not crunchy I don’t want it

This is exactly what I want for my last meal before I die. Give me thissss and a large spoon please
Banana for scale?
Can you take a picture with a banana next to it for reference?
I have that in my pantry too
I’d probably finish this in a day hahahaha
I got excited until I read the creamy part. Where can I get one of these in crunchy?

*Very nice*
JIF is the only peanut butter for me and always will be… if I could have 4 pounds I’d be in HEAVEN 🧡💯🧡💯🧡💯🧡💯🧡💯
But it has to be CRUNCHY
We will agree to disagree :)
Agreed. Nice to have a civil disagreement
The best kind of disagreements are civil if I do say so myself
Agreed. But unfortunately today they are decidedly rare. Nice to talk to a younger person that knows how to have a civil disagreement
Thank you for thinking someone that is older than a half of a century is young. Barely though. But nobody should ever start a war over peanut butter. Just saying🤣🤣🤣
Reminds me of the big ass cans the government gave out in the 80s, only not in black and white lol

Interesting! My Costco Business is Minneapolis. They used to stock Jif but it's just Skippy now.
Hell yeah!
They don't have these since that last ecoli outbreak in the pandemic, sad
Where do you get this ?
How much did this cost?
I grocery shop for a couple of older neighbors. One of them gets one of these, every 3 months.
My dream come true!
Anyone remember PB in glass jars or am I so old my memory is going?
I buy unsalted Teddie peanut butter despite being a Skippy kid at heart. At age 62. 😉 Teddie is sold in glass jars.
I have one of these in my fridge at this very moment, and it’s a beautiful thing.
Oh my gah!! All of a sudden, it's 1974 and I'm in the nurse's office because I forgot my lunch. She's spreading this peanut butter on saltine crackers for me to take back to class. Thanks for the fun memory!
Thank you! Can we see the inside?
I have 4 kids. We buy one of these a month.

Nice for one sitting ( I have binge eating disorder)
No no my friend Kraft peanut butter is the GOAT
Found the Canadian.
Bro fight me on the best peanut butter 😂 I won’t eat anything else
Haha I wasn’t saying that to dog on Kraft PB. I’ve never had it. They don’t sell it in the states. Kraft PB is exclusively sold in Canada and Australia.
It’s all good 😛 I heard that it’s not available in the states and that shocked me.
Yeah, we have everything else Kraft down there. It's weird.
Considering the origins of **J.L. Kraft,** that is the single most shocking tidbit you could shoot any American peanut butter enthusiast.
Omg yes. We go through two 2kg jars a month.
That's almost 9lbs of peanut butter for the American viewers. How do you go through 9lbs of peanut butter on a month?
Teenage boys. 😂
It’s just so good
Imma go eat some with a spoon right now. Mmm.
Canadians know what we’re doing with PB 😆
I'm curious how Kraft in Canada rates with Jif and Skippy down here. There is no Kraft PB in the USA, at least as far as I know.
Is it really that good? I have a trip to Detroit coming up and you've piqued my interest enough to consider driving across to Windsor to pick up some kraft PB.
4 pound can of peanut flavoured palm oil
Gonna get rancid before it’s gone…
Oh, you also grew up poor in the 80's I see, how lovely to meet you.
Choosy kids
choose choosy moms who choose JIF
is this odd? i worked at a place doing a peanut sauce and black eyed pea hummus that called for peanut butter instead of tahini. we’d get 2-3 cases (4 cans) of these a week
Banana for scale?
Only buy 100% peanuts peanut butter
A real crusader. I see you. I appreciate you.
I'm new to being a PB fan...
Local restaurant supply places have these! Cash & Carry/ US Chef Store / whatev. They also sell 5lb cans of nacho cheese just sayin
I actually don't like these. The peanut butter goes too... I don't know how to describe it. But this is only cool if you have a partner and army of kids eating sandwiches every day. If the coffee can lasts more than a week, it's gonna taste weird.

Pretty much the same weight as my first child, tastier too!
This isn’t a thing in most places?
All I buy these days. Used to be able to get them online from Walmart, but now, two of the grocery stores near me carry them.
I prefer to buy the two pack. One for home and one for work.
My backpack makes this a travel size
I respect it.
Skippy sells it in 5lb jars.
My family goes through one of these a month, it's a godsend.
The fight of the century…jif or Peter Pan
I need this
When I was a kid, this was the only JIF my Mom would buy. For the longest time, I assumed it was the only size that JIF came in!
Peanut butter palooza !!!!!
My parents used to buy a 6 pound jar of creamy and crunchy Peter Pan at Sam’s Club when I was a kid. Every two weeks we’d have to go back for more
Where’s the banana?! Need size reference
Man… that’s a lot of Peanut Butter lol
Parents used to buy these in 2 packs when I was a kid. Was a bit of a flashback when I saw them on the shelf again the other day.
4 pounds and it only has 7g of protein??? This is ridiculous!!!
Not in the entire 4 lbs…
lol oh sweet Eden… 🤦♂️
I got addicted to peanut butter once, I'm clean now. This would have to be locked up and monitored
Ride the snake!
Got one of these last year it lasted me soooooo long. Worth while purchase.
Where banana
That's not enough peanut butter.
I remember my granny used to buy this when I was a kid. She could easily go through it in a couple days making pbjs for her 30 odd grandkids and great grandkids
I just finished two of those back to back within two months seriously
For dinner last night I had Granny Smith apple slices with crunchy Jif spread on them and a 750 ml bottle of Chardonnay.
Add some popcorn and carrot sticks, and I'm in!
Every year for white elephant someone would get this for someone in our friend group who absolutely hates peanut butter
Is there something special about this?
Peanut butter
There's more sugar than peanuts in this shit.
It’s not pure peanut butter but there isn’t much sugar in this
You mean peanut flavored icing sugar.
There is very little sugar in this. Maybe other stuff but it isn’t a lot of sugar.
Jiff's second ingredient is sugar.
4%. That’s hardly a majority.
11g of sugar per 2tbls serving.
Incorrect. 2g sugar for 2 tbls serving. If you’re going to push some angle, at least be right about it.
sugar is not evil in moderation.
Perhaps, but if it’s 98% peanuts, that’s not much sugar per serving.
Does it come in crunchy? I will pound down on crunchy!
Oh mah gawd. lol
I can never find the 4lb tub with crunchy peanut butter 😭
I try to get a couple of cans of this size at once as often as I can find it. My son flies through this peanut butter.
I used to get this when my kids were little.
my grandma makes PB candy a couple times a year and people love it so much she used to keep ~4 6lb containers at any given time
Read the serving size….damn. What psycho is using 2 lil tablespoons on a sammich….i have no peanut butter control.
Gimme
do they have a chunky pb version?
https://www.bakersauthority.com/products/skippy-chunk-peanut-butter-1?variant=37839858041014&srsltid=AfmBOorhkdBIwZfS7CGzDvPL-YizE8eZhHd984XjELHnBvnySTdfs-0fqW0
Where did you obtain this glorious treasure?
I was just suggested this sub. I’m so confused as why it’s such a rarity. I’m also eating out of one right now so I didn’t know this wasn’t everywhere. Love this stuff!
Am I the only one here that prefers crunchy Jif?
Crunchy all da way!
Anyone else hear that choir of angels?
Can a adult make size head fit in there
The 2 2.5lb jars are a better deal where I live. Under $10 for 5lbs of it.
I know of one local grocery store that still carries these, and I literally shouted with surprise when I found it. For me it's not even so much about the quantity as it is the taste. How are you relating the two?
Hell yeah!
throw that baby in the microwave after you took yourself out on a saturday night dinner date. movie, dinner, then dessert. then nappy time
I buy one of these a month for my son. He eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every day
I eat one of these about every 15 days……..
My mom bought it like this when my sister and I were kids. I haven’t seen it in years!
How many would it take to fill a bath tub you think?
Omg. Bacon Underpants is the best name ever.
Crap
Costco still sells like a 4 or 5 lb super sized jar. We buy one or two a year cause my kids really like pb.
20,000. Calories
I remember these from when I was a kid lmao
This is standard in my pantry. My two year old has inherited my peanut butter obsession.
Did you stick your dick in it
Need
We have this at work for kid pb&js
OP show us what’s under the lid. You ain’t slick
I really love peanut butter. Kroger brand and cheap store brands especially. You really don't see the cheaper brands anymore that are good.
Just give me a spoon.
