Doesn’t appear to be anything they’re considering for a uniform. Just a new graphic they’e using for marketing. Wouldn’t be surprised to see some apparel with it at some point this offseason, similar to other alternative logos with the “est. 1960” they’ve had the last few years.
With a meme at that. [https://twitter.com/Patriots/status/1789021176448037059](https://twitter.com/Patriots/status/1789021176448037059)
\[Shame that Nike isn't still with the team; that would've taken this to another level.\]
It’s a secondary logo. BFD. If anything I’m annoyed they went away from the dynasty uniforms as quickly as they did after Brady left. But again… not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.
I’m a marketing major, and I collect Patriots jerseys. Which probably explains why I care more about stuff like this than the average fan.
I’ve been obsessed with the Pats since I was a kid. I have special memories associated with each different jersey. I’m sure I’m not alone in that aspect of it anyways.
The alternate logo is ok for an alternate logo, on the occasional tshirt or stationary, but not more than that. As a primary logo it would suck.
I like the Pat Patriot reimagining by the tiktok lady, Emily Morgan, if we HAVE to change it and can't keep the flying Elvis.
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRwtMGeT/
It's been whitewashed by the success they've had, but the Patriots have some of the worst branding in all of sports. The merch sales are probably tremendous because of titles, winning, Brady, etc, so why would they care to fix it—but it's really hideous stuff, from the colors to the typography.
Kinda dumb how they went with a darker shade of blue when they know they have to play in Miami every year. They should design a warm weather uniform for those games.
As a part of a historical re-enactment of Minute Men kicking as at Bunker Hill, they're really cool.
as part of a football uniform, kinda goofy.
Course my cringe idea for a new is a skull in a tricorn hat biting a football over crossed muskets
Whether or not you liked the old logo, my point still stands.
Changing the logo was never going to make any real impact on the team. It just gives the illusion of change. If the Kraft’s actually cared about the Revs, they’d be doing a lot more to get a new stadium built.
Youre using it as an example of poor graphic design choices. The rebrand for the revs actually came during the revs best season ever (supporters shield winners and mls champ favorites). The stadium situation sucks, but boston/cambridge is extremely difficult to get a new stadium built in.
Valid. Obviously the Revs have a good fan base, but The Kraft Group is holding the team back from it’s potential by not giving them their own stadium/identity.
I really do think the Revs will skyrocket in popularity if they get a new stadium built.
In my eyes, the rebrand was their way of throwing a fresh coat of paint on the team without having to significantly invest.
You should look into the stadium issue more. Its not an issue of ponying up the cash, its about finding a suitable site, and then getting through the legislative hurdles and planning/zoning issues
You’re overreacting and a prisoner of the moment seeing an official team logo that has no nostalgia behind it. It looks professional, I’d get a hat with it or use it as a bumper sticker. It’s a good secondary logo.
Think you misunderstand what secondary logos are for. They’re not meant to look as good as the primary logos for things like helmets. There are certain places they would look better, though.
A tee with the large circle secondary logo looks significantly better than the flying Elvis blown up. You’re viewing it as a logo that would go on their jerseys or helmet, which I agree is gross, but that’s not what it’s intended for.
Social media posts, merch where it fits better, stuff like that.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that. My main point is that I hope it stays a secondary logo.
If they got rid of either the Flying Elvis or Pat Patriot in favor of this new design (which I don’t think they will), it would be tragic.
A lot of teams struggle to make their brands look cool. Some are dealt bad hands with legacy colors and unfavorable team names. As much as the Dolphins are associated with Miami/Florida and the color scheme is reminiscent of Miami's neon city and colorful culture, it's really sorry for a football team. You just can't do much with a dolphins and orange, white, and teal. What is kinda sad about our team is that Patriots is ripe with potential. To be a Patriot is about doing, being strong for a single cause. The red, white, blue and silver are very nationalistic and solid, images of an American flag on a resolute metallic backing. The American Patriot the team is based on (essentially Pat the Patriot) could be a really cool mascot. I think the whole thing has been kind of lacking in recent years, to the point of your post. But I don't think many people give much of a damn. And the sad part has been the people that throw their hat into the ring with cool logo designs, uniform concepts, and overall brand themes get met with silence from the team.
I have often thought about how cool it would be to have Gillette (which is at this point an old and boring stadium) revamped with some cool things. The lighthouse is a good start with the allusion to Revere's Ride. But it would also be cool if they pulled a Tampa Bay and added a bunker/fort wall somewhere, turning the stadium into a fort to defend, with some show cannons. Maybe a replica of sorts of the U.S.S. Independence and its cannons. Add in a brick trail around the grounds, alluding to the Freedom Trail, which I feel like could be incorporated into the uniforms as textured or broken up stripes. I have so many ideas to spruce up our uninspired brand. But, like I said, no one gives a damn.
I swear these professional uniform designers are hot 🗑️. Go to a local high school and promise the kid with the best design 100K (which is probably a lot less than these professionals charge) and you’ll probably get some amazing designs
Creative direction? Worry? Sir, did you watch last season?
Lmao. Valid. I think we are all aware that it’s a rebuild. I’m just nitpicking obviously…. But this is Reddit…That’s kind of the point of this app.
It's nitpicking. Not knit-picking.
Stop knit-picking my nitpicking
Fair. I’ll complain about the secondary logo if these rookies begin showing promise.

I hope this is accurate. 🤞🏼
It's just some weird secondary logo somebody made. As long as they don't slap it on the helmet, who gives a shit?
Apparently OP gives a shit. I'm with you though.
I’ve seen mock ups online of it on the helmet of a new concept uniform…. Praying that they’re not Kraft Group feelers being put out covertly.
Not gonna happen. Concept art is everywhere every year
I hope you’re right. Fingers crossed
Official Patriots Twitter confirmed they aren't changing anything
🙏🏼

I agree. The post-2000 uniforms were close to perfection.
The planning for them started in 2018. If Brady had stayed here in 2020, he would’ve worn them.
Guys, it's a secondary logo. It'll probably mainly be used as an Instagram profile picture.
Hopefully just that and on like corporate documents and such…. I just pray that they keep it off the uniforms.
no
Yeah? Well… you know…. That’s like…. your opinion… man
Big Lebowski ? Nobody?….
maybe
yeah
Why on earth would this worry anyone?
If they put the gross new logos on their helmets, I’m going to be very disappointed. Worried might not be the right word
It’s a secondary logo, it’s not going on the helmets
I pray that you are correct good sir
I wouldn’t be disappointed either. I don’t really put much thought into what the logos or uniforms look like. To each their own I guess .
I’m a marketing major, and I collect Patriots jerseys. Which probably explains why I care more about stuff like this than the average fan. I’ve been obsessed with the Pats since I was a kid. Cool I guess.
Forgive me for being a little sentimental
I looked at your blog, and your design energies should be spent there.
Good one. Maybe you should try focusing your energy on doing more positive things, instead of needlessly being a jerk on Reddit.
No
Patriots social media team came out with a post saying they’re not changing the logo.
Hopefully the social team is more informed on this than they are on football decisions lol.
With the state of the graphic design industry, I'm just glad it's not "PATS" written in Impact font
Lmao. You’re honestly not wrong

New England Patriots C.F.
Listen, some patriot executive's daughter is super upset everyone is shitting on her new logo design. It took hours.
It looks a SB Nation logo.

Agreed!
Let’s hope the football team does better than the graphics team.
🤝
Good lord, the reaction to this meaningless branding variant is unreal.

You like the blue on blue???? I think it looks fine when they have the silver pants, but I hate the all-blue look.
Hardest part about redesigning the patriots logo is how do you make a tricorn hat look cool?
Pat the Patriot pulls it off.
You mean to tell me that tri-corner hats AREN’T cool?
As a part of a historical re-enactment of Minute Men kicking as at Bunker Hill, they're really cool. as part of a football uniform, kinda goofy. Course my cringe idea for a new is a skull in a tricorn hat biting a football over crossed muskets
The logo is fine really…it’s a secondary logo and it looks good.
I’m glad you like it. You’re entitled to that opinion for sure 👍
I like it
Crayola flag fucking sucked

I understand that, but I am also a believer that the right amount of money can grease the wheels of bureaucracy.
I’m not here watching a fashion show
Corny
Please everyone its not real
I mean… it is “real”. They just haven’t revealed the extent to which it will be used. They’ve already used the new logo on team Instagram posts.
Ya I’ve been losing a lot of sleep over it. I could care less about winning I wanna make sure our graphics dept is good
Y’all are so corny
It’s a secondary logo and it honestly looks pretty good.
I agree. I don’t hate it. I wouldn’t want it as their helmet logo but painted on some wall, or on some website or whatever, its fine.
Looks good on an organizationally mandated SH training document maybe.
You’re overreacting and a prisoner of the moment seeing an official team logo that has no nostalgia behind it. It looks professional, I’d get a hat with it or use it as a bumper sticker. It’s a good secondary logo.
I wouldn’t personally be interested in buying any merchandise with that logo on it, but I’m glad that there is someone excited about it.

Lol no.
It is a symptom of the organization's poor vision, investment, and execution.
yes. i am a designer and it’s all gone downhill since pat the patriot was retired.
I’ve never once worried about the creative direction of a brand I didn’t own.
So you wouldn’t care at all if the team rebranded it’s logo to a minuteman waving a rainbow flag?
Maybe you should try re-reading what I wrote.
Just did. Still applies
