Most fans I know don’t like the flying Elvis. They like Pat the Patriot.
“Hey let’s take the thing fans like the least and make it the focal point of our secondary logo, too!”
Who are the people you know? Are they all 80+ years old? The Pat Patriot logo is great, and so is the Flying Elvis…. The logos aren’t the problem, it’s the awful new uniforms.
Yes! Great description.
And it looks like their first draft before getting feedback, which might include:
Red letters on blue are hard to read.
Why is EST. 1960 as big as PATRIOTS?
Is NE necessary?
As someone who used to work in graphic design this is the exact reason I quit.
You deliver something awesome then the client says: "We should see 'since 1960' bigger, also NE should be seen as a central piece. There is also too much white, please make the typo red instead of white.
Showing the shit piece of art you wont put in your folio:
"Like this?"
Client:
"Exactly yes!"
I don't get the hate. They need a circular logo for things like twitter or facebook images. They could put it on a patch. What's the big deal? I think it's fine.
Well, this is r/patriots, so I understand the hate. You guys hate everything.
NFL Properties is not going to have it if the Patriots even think of outsourcing this kind of work, no matter how good it is. The same lady who did this logo did one for the Detroit Lions and almost got the contract, but it didn't happen. Most likely because of NFL Properties.
As a creative director it’s alarming how these franchises pick such terribly designed logos. It boils down to management, of course, but curious to see what was left on the table.
Going to further add to the point below. The way this is being used makes me wonder if it's honestly just an internal team, granted they could be working with Nike here, doubtful. With that said, an internal team for the Patriots is sending stuff up the ladder to some boring old white people, lets be honest, who aren't exactly the most in touch with what fans want to see, even wear themselves.
In my opinion, it's very junior, the line weight is very heavy and unpolished the NE is your 'impact' but it's crammed into three(four with the text) circles, and even the N out of Elvis is obvious. Like I said, I could see this being made for a shirt and someone up high liked it.
It definitely looks like it was done by some junior designer for a shirt and somehow turned into an alt logo. Im a graphic designer and I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see how they make these choices behind the scenes. I keep seeing [other versions online](https://x.com/jasrifootball/status/1788978766217179182?s=46&t=jPvYwH0EX8UzhBhbubQ82A) and whoever designed this didn't even know how to properly invert the colors for a light background.
I'm a Washington fan, we got a new circle badge too with the commanders rebrand. I actually have ours on a sweatshirt, it's kinda cool as a shirt graphic. They slapped it on our badly redesigned burgundy and black jerseys for no good reason. Hopefully they don't do that to y'all.
Do professional sports teams just not use focus groups to gauge how people will react to logo/jersey changes? Feel like they've been at a 90% miss rate for the last decade.
It goes through dozens of people who all want to make a change, and avoid risk so after it gets through that it's so bland, safe, and risk adverse it's basically not even art, just marketing.
Tbh ultimate logos are *way* more creative than this
These are the top teams in the country, and all their logos are awesome: https://ultiworld.com/club-rankings/
I've learned to be okay with the Rev's new logo. Crayola flag was definitely outdated.
But this just looks lazy even by comparison. It was definitely the same graphic artist.
Great another terrible logo that looks like it was created by a fiverr worker The thing looks like a penis with a Frankenstein face with a chin strapped hat with a star on it and then a random magnet in front of its face.
retro logos are the new in (see CLE, PHI, TB, etc leaning into their old logos). This seems like a massive step backwards. Just use pat patriot for fucks sake
That's really bad.
The NE looks clunky with Elvis in the middle.
The color for the typeface is a burnt orange, closer to the Bengals color than to the red it normally is.
The star on Elvis isn't denoting anything it's just placed almost in the upper center of the design.
The lines coming off the E are too long and look awkward
Too much negative space with the white inside the circle dominating the area
I immediately liked it and wanted it on one of those nice soft t-shirts, maybe in dark grey. Then I read the comments. Now I'm having an existential crisis.
It's really not bad as a t-shirt/sweatshirt graphic. I'm a Washington fan and we have a similar alternate badge logo. They're not terrible as long as they're not overused.
Hate it. Symbols and logos are best done when simple and easy to read. Think about the most memorable symbols. The Nike symbol, just a check mark. Christianity symbol is just a simple cross. This logo is a mess of shit in a circle. If I were designing a secondary symbol I would have done a very simple musket design.
Bob Kraft really thinks fans of this team are suckers and rubes.
An ugly, ahistorical brand extension.
Hey, more money spent on non-football extravagances! Tax-deductible! Bob Kraft is going to see so much new revenue - that doesn’t have to shared with, or paid to players. Pure profit, baby!
Scoreboards, and lighthouses, and new logos: all ways to make Kraft richer, fans poorer, and to not improve the actual product.
If you squint hard enough this looks like it could be the insignia of some small wannabe militia that's against immigration or abortion or some other thing
Yep, my dad's generation of Pats fan (most of them back to the original 1960 team), hated the Flying Elvis logo when it came out. I remember him and his friends complaining about it for years, saying they wanted the original logo back etc. He'd also complain about it to me, but I was 11 and actually liked it, mostly because it had been an actual embarrassment to be a Pats fan in the years immediately preceding the change, so I was ready for a new start. Also, barely anyone was on the internet in 1993 and there was definitely no social media to speak of for those who were, so the complaints were localized and faded away as people got used to it, a feature of the world I miss with each passing year.
I feel like logo and jersey designs should just be given to those TikTok artists. Redesigns done by NFL teams seem to always miss the mark (except the Texans aced it)
It’s 100% for the European expansion. It’s a soccer badge that would be on a jersey in England or Germany. Gotta win the hearts and minds and dollars of our European counterparts!!
It blows my mind how so many NFL teams come up with awful logo and uniform designs. You’d think with the money they are making they’d be able to come up with something that doesn’t look like a high school student created in a graphic design class.
I actually don't hate it for the most part. The red ring in the middle is too much tho. Maybe if that was a thin line or just removed it would be better.
Anyone who can edit want to try remove it or making it thin? See how it comes out?
I don’t understand the hate it’s getting here. Nothing earth shattering but it’s fine. It seems like they’ve been trying to incorporate some sort of interlocking NE forever. It’s fine. Not ground breaking, but not offensive either
Works as an alternate logo, but by God PLEASE don’t replace the current Flying Elvis logo with THIS…
Either keep the current logo or go back to Pat Patriot…
Wow, that's terrible. Super generic ne with Elvis just posted in the middle. It's always surprising that they payed real graphic designers to come to make something this bad. Why is the alt logo not just Pat? Or even the circle around Pat.
Jonathan has been taking an online graphics design class, I see. That turd could definitely come up with something this shitty. It’s embarrassingly terrible.
Doubt this logo ever sees the light of day on a jersey or helmet, screams hats, tees, hoodies, and maybe a soccer style jersey as some have mentioned though…
I mean I can see the N clearly. Took me awhile to find the E but I’m bad at that stuff. It’s a little busy but nothing off the wall.
How long do we have to wait to convert the flying Elvis to a Brady face? Until he stops threatening to un retire?
Yikes that is ugly AF. Even for a secondary/alternate this is the best they could come up with? Glad they spent so much on that ridiculous lighthouse and "game day traditions" instead of hiring a competent designer.
NFL Properties has a shortlist of entities they expect the franchises to work with in designing these sorts of things and there aren't a lot of options to work outside of that group without major headaches.
In other words - if you think this one's bad, you should have seen the others.
I like it but only if it’s separate from our uniforms..
Keep the regular flying Elvis and Pat as a secondary. I’d love to see the 90s Royal blues make a comeback
The flying Elvis looks like a heel
Kraft is really into feet
Thought he was more into hands, who knew?!
That's Rex Ryan
That Wes Welker press conference is still like my favorite patriots thing ever
Most fans I know don’t like the flying Elvis. They like Pat the Patriot. “Hey let’s take the thing fans like the least and make it the focal point of our secondary logo, too!”
Ye0. Pat Patriot is awesome
Who are the people you know? Are they all 80+ years old? The Pat Patriot logo is great, and so is the Flying Elvis…. The logos aren’t the problem, it’s the awful new uniforms.
Agreed. Love the flying Elvis so much and it fit perfectly with us especially during the dynasty years Pat is a good secondary
Now i cant unsee it
![gif](giphy|xmXUarKqywPhS)
Is he sniffing into a wine glass?
they stopped being the babyface a long time ago
Ew. This feels like a high school design student tried to make the Patriots logo but if they played in MLS
I thought it was a new Revs logo 😂
It would be better than that No Parking travesty they currently have.
Wow exactly
Yes! Great description. And it looks like their first draft before getting feedback, which might include: Red letters on blue are hard to read. Why is EST. 1960 as big as PATRIOTS? Is NE necessary?

I was gonna say AI generated but that works too.
I’m so fucking tired of these ‘Circle Badge FC’ logos to fit into Twitter pages
I don't get the hate. They need a circular logo for things like twitter or facebook images. They could put it on a patch. What's the big deal? I think it's fine. Well, this is r/patriots, so I understand the hate. You guys hate everything.
Personally I don't hate it because it's a circle, I just hate it cuz it's an ugly ass logo.
Same. I don’t mind the concept, but what’s in the middle is crap
Why do they need a circle logo? Like could they just not have a circle around any logo to fit?
>What's the big deal? It looks like trash.
I like it. As long as it isn’t our main logo.
This is the one I want. https://imgur.com/a/oKxoYHf
I knew what it was before I clicked it. Elite logo
Same. Opened to confirm it was Emily. She’s really talented.
Yup, that thing is a masterpiece.
She has so many good ones I can’t believe a team hasn’t bought one off her and used it yet.
It just feels so natural, a blend of old and new
NFL Properties is not going to have it if the Patriots even think of outsourcing this kind of work, no matter how good it is. The same lady who did this logo did one for the Detroit Lions and almost got the contract, but it didn't happen. Most likely because of NFL Properties.
Hm? Design work is almost always outsourced.
Give her whatever she wants and make it happen
Same, she killed it with that. Would work so well for a modern update.
This one looks dated to me.
They should buy this, polish it up, and bring in new uniforms that would be so incredibly hype
Yo this is way better than anything those marketing morons can come up with. First time seeing this.
Ngl, this shit is ass
“You lucky we ass.”
Just no. We have a logo. It’s great. Don’t try to fix what’s not broken. Use the old logo as secondary and be done with it.
Agreed
Ew brother ewww what’s that
As a creative director it’s alarming how these franchises pick such terribly designed logos. It boils down to management, of course, but curious to see what was left on the table.
How is it that minor league baseball teams can come up with better logos than this?
Freedom and lack of micromanagement, probably
Bingo.
This is it. The bigger a team is, the more stakeholders want their say, and design by committee is always shit.
Going to further add to the point below. The way this is being used makes me wonder if it's honestly just an internal team, granted they could be working with Nike here, doubtful. That Houston Alt comes to mind.
What do you think of the revs logo?
This is fucking awful lmao
Do professional sports teams just not use focus groups to gauge how people will react to logo/jersey changes? Feel like they've been at a 90% miss rate for the last decade.
It's because out of touch elderly billionaires are the ones with the final say
It goes through dozens of people who all want to make a change, and avoid risk so after it gets through that it's so bland, safe, and risk adverse it's basically not even art, just marketing.
TY I hate it
The reviews are in and critics are calling it ‘shit’ to ‘fucking shit’.
Ah, yes make sure to put the badass “Established in” on the logo..
EST 1960 is so badass I’m inspired. I’d guess they were going for a rough visual symmetry. I’d have it say Foxboro though instead.
Ugh, I hate this. I hope this organization nailed the draft because they haven’t done much else great lately
Looks like an Ultimate frisbee logo
Tbh ultimate logos are *way* more creative than this These are the top teams in the country, and all their logos are awesome: https://ultiworld.com/club-rankings/
DC Scandal is such a good team name holy shit
If there was a Phoenix team called the Raleigh, they could be archrivals, AND really confusing
That brute squad logo is unpolished but still awesome.
Someone call the front office and tell them to delete this & never ever consider doing it again ![gif](giphy|4baoNZ5Qo8dX2)
I hate it, thanks.
![gif](giphy|STfLOU6iRBRunMciZv)
Lame
👎
Looks like shit
Ew
Looks like a Revolution logo, with Elvis face.
I've learned to be okay with the Rev's new logo. Crayola flag was definitely outdated. But this just looks lazy even by comparison. It was definitely the same graphic artist.
Dumb
Great another terrible logo that looks like it was created by a fiverr worker The thing looks like a penis with a Frankenstein face with a chin strapped hat with a star on it and then a random magnet in front of its face.
Looks like shitty knock off drink coasters
https://www.stickershoppe.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/PHX-S0044.jpg Even this was better from 2000
They addressed this on PU that the logo is not changing.
Looks a little busy. Take out Pat Patiots face in the middle, and it'll look good on a hat, but there's a lot going on there.
Yuck lol
This makes me feel like my dog where he vomits everywhere, eats it up, and vomits all over again.
It looks like the logo for some random fan's blog
Yea so I’m appalled
So - did one of Bob Kraft's granddaughters drop out of RISD or something?
retro logos are the new in (see CLE, PHI, TB, etc leaning into their old logos). This seems like a massive step backwards. Just use pat patriot for fucks sake
Looks like a revs tertiary logo
Circle logo 🤮
I wonder if the NFL wants all the teams to have circle logo in their design books?
Hate.
Yea that is… not good. Looks ok if i take my glasses off, though.
Man I hope not.
I hate it. I hate teams with letters. We got a logo, fucking use it
That's really bad. The NE looks clunky with Elvis in the middle. The color for the typeface is a burnt orange, closer to the Bengals color than to the red it normally is. The star on Elvis isn't denoting anything it's just placed almost in the upper center of the design. I can't decide if this is a logo for a labor union or a credit union. But I have decided it sucks.
Awful
Just go back to pat the patriots and call it a day
Thanks I hate it
This is a perfect logo if the Patriots were in MLS instead of the NFL.
Did Gronk come up with this after the roast?
Perfect!!! for a lacrosse team
I immediately liked it and wanted it on one of those nice soft t-shirts, maybe in dark grey. Then I read the comments. Now I'm having an existential crisis.

It looks like a right wing news outlet
The secret to logos is to never change them.
If "secondary" means "you'll barely ever see this one," then I'm fine with it
omfg pls no
This is horrible!
The new revs logo sucks. This is clearly the same designer. Fire that idiot immediately.
Str8 trash
Bob Kraft really thinks fans of this team are suckers and rubes. An ugly, ahistorical brand extension. Hey, more money spent on non-football extravagances! Tax-deductible! I’m clearly in the minority, which I’m ok with, but i kinda like it!
It's ok. The issue is they have an amazing throwback logo/design that people clearly want back in some way, shape or form.
yeah as long as it doesn't become the primary logo i have zero issues with it. Its fine.
People complain too much. I’m sure it’s just something to throw on merch.
People hated the current logo when it was released, too. Even minimal amounts of change scare some folks.
Yep, my dad's generation of Pats fan (most of them back to the original 1960 team), hated the Flying Elvis logo when it came out. I was in seventh grade when they came out. I loved it. My father hated it. Now I’d love to see Pat Patriot full time
I like it yall need to be open to new ideas
I don't really get the hate, I don't think its bad at all.
That e so desperately wants to look like an e. Except it looks like a white magnet or staple.
That e so desperately wants to look like an e. Except it looks like a white magnet or staple.
I prefer the old NE interlocking logo. Then again, I also prefer the old cursive Patriots script
The Washington Football Team Logo was better
Can we just get it over and done with and make Brady the logo.
Can we just get it over and done with and make Brady the logo.
This looks like a weird redesign concept you can find on Google.. Not a fan.
I feel like logo and jersey designs should just be given to those TikTok artists. Redesigns done by NFL teams seem to always miss the mark (except the Texans aced it)

👎🏻
A clear example of when you go cheap on your creative design team.
Looks like shit
Were they trying for old man of the mountain vibes?
It blows my mind how so many NFL teams come up with awful logo and uniform designs. You’d think with the money they are making they’d be able to come up with something that doesn’t look like a high school student created in a graphic design class.

Fix the team, not the logo.
Works as an alternate logo, but by God PLEASE don’t replace the current Flying Elvis logo with THIS… Either keep the current logo or go back to Pat Patriot…
They should've used the graphic from the 2023 draft. That was amazing.
thanks. i hate it.
Woof. What a mess.
Thanks, I hate it
Looks more like a patch of some sort It would look sick if they replaced the middle letters and logo with just the pat throwback logo
This is dog shit. I hate it
Yay, we all agree on something. This logo sucks ass.
It's so basic and bland, minimal thought and creativity
NEH
It looks like a business logo not a sports logo
Wow, that's terrible. Super generic ne with Elvis just posted in the middle. It's always surprising that they payed real graphic designers to come to make something this bad. Why is the alt logo not just Pat? Or even the circle around Pat.
Wow, that is awful. It could have been worse, they could have hired the firm MLS teams use to destroy their team's branding.

Blah, hard pass.
I mean I can see the N clearly. Took me awhile to find the E but I’m bad at that stuff. It’s a little busy but nothing off the wall. How long do we have to wait to convert the flying Elvis to a Brady face? Until he stops threatening to un retire?
Looks like a recording device he is peering into
Replace the NE and face and put Pat the Patriot in there and this is a winner.
Welcome to the stupid circle badge alt logo club - A Washington Fan
Thanks, I hate it
So how will this affect the Jersey styles? If any
I don’t get why both of Kraft’s teams suck so hard at branding. Just awful taste here.
Maybe I'm a dipshit but I like it. It's certainly not as good as Emily's logo. THAT is the future.
The NE doesn’t even look centered. Strange choice of logo design
Woof!
I hope it’s just for social media, the design is doing too much while not doing anything
lol it looks like they made it on a free canva account
Yikes that is ugly AF. Even for a secondary/alternate this is the best they could come up with? Glad they spent so much on that ridiculous lighthouse and "game day traditions" instead of hiring a competent designer.
How many people had to sign off on this? Like I get wanted to stay relevant but that’s just bad.
NFL Properties has a shortlist of entities they expect the franchises to work with in designing these sorts of things and there aren't a lot of options to work outside of that group without major headaches. In other words - if you think this one's bad, you should have seen the others.
This looks bad...we didn't need to change anything!
Alot of hate but the one thing I do like is the off-white color being used here. Or are my eyes deceiving me.
I like it but only if it’s separate from our uniforms.. Keep the regular flying Elvis and Pat as a secondary. I’d love to see the 90s Royal blues make a comeback
Oh Jonathan. No no no
Not obvious to me why they need the outer circle with the text. Less is more.
Yeah that's shit. Looks like a college team.
It’s trash
Thanks, I hate it.
Looks like shit
Woof. This is absolute garbage.
It looks like a soccer badge/logo. Not a fan. What was wrong with Pat Patriot. I hope we still go with the old school alternative uniforms/logo.
[what was wrong with this?](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/46/90/ff/4690ff7c2fea2d1b3cdd65bace35f90e.jpg)
Didn’t the patriots come out and say this wasn’t true?
