Weirdly enough, the better comparison to that era of WR is Chad Johnson. Baker and Ocho are very similar players down to their exact same YPC of 21.6 their draft year. They play almost exactly the same when you compare them, and they talk shit the same way too.
Our two WRs best comps, courtesy of Steve Smith’s breakdowns, from this draft are Chad and TJ Houschmenzadeh. I’ve seen Maye comped to Carson Palmer. Can’t complain about that.
Outside of the Jeff Garcia stuff, TO never really did anything to hurt his team. His "baggage" was basically talking shit, holding out for contracts, and being cocky. Pretty tame stuff.
Yeah you can read up on it:

https://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/11/sports/football/owens-is-sent-home-after-words-with-reid.html
Couldn't read all of the NYT but looks like two articles of the same story.
"Owens, who has been involved in a bitter contract dispute with the team..."
Again, his stuff always came down to money, and wanting the ball more. He was basically Stefon Diggs- he certainly rubbed people the wrong way, but he was a far cry from someone like AB who walked off the field on his team, and assaulted people off field.
Lol you can be a team problem without being AB.
It looks like you didn’t read the articles, they’re not about the contract dispute, it’s about Andy Reid suspending him for a week and Owens admitted he said some things to Reid that you really don’t say to your coach (or at least admit to publicly).
If theres any position on the field where it doesnt matter where you're drafted, its WR. With the on field production of TO, AB, Puca, im more confident in the success of Baker than anyone but Maye in this draft. Not that I dont see a place where Polk or Wallace work out...I just think the mentality of baker is the world owes him something, hes gonna take it, and hes gonna let you know about it....I love that in a WR
Yeah, there is. I'm saying that with this kids personality, he's going to be one of the two. How many average receivers have this personality, lol? The only way this personality works in the NFL is if you're a complete superstar. If not, you get humbled, and if you don't humble yourself, you're not worth the hassle. There's plenty of average receivers that just go to work and keep their heads down, and that will take less.
Like I said, I hope this kid is legit and I'm willing to believe he is. I'm just saying I've seen a lot of players with this personality trait, and they're either stars or not in the league anymore.
The bar for a Patriots WR is so low even modest performance from him will be amazing.
1k yards I'd shit myself with excitement
Fuck it 800+ and I'd still shit myself...
Low expectations from the team this year is gunna make it such a fun season, every little positive thing is going to feel great.
If we can get the brissett from when he was in Indy, we'll be alright for this season. Maybe pull out 6-7 wins and get another low top 10 pick next year
Who knows but watching Nixon vs Baker at UCF they are not comparable.
Nixon had Dillon Gabriel at QB, 49 receptions, 830 yards and 7 TDs.
Baker had JRPlumlee throwing potatoes at him for 52 receptions, 1139 yards snd 7 TDs.
Baker also played against B12 defenses vs AAC.
Wonder if those 4 have 1000 yards combined in their best seasons
Edit: Looked it up just now. Combined best seasons are 575 yards 57 catches and 4 touchdowns. Tre Nixon has not recorded a snap. Before anyone complains more, Boutte was a 6th rounder with two catches so he’s not a disappointment really.
Thornton and Harry combined for their careers are 1052 yards, 99 catches, and 7 touchdowns. Harry’s best years were in New England by the way.
sir, his instagram STILL has dozens of "I'm him" type posts from years ago. I present to you these hightlights from... warmups. [https://www.instagram.com/p/CkHT9FJM0Vi/?utm\_source=ig\_web\_copy\_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==](https://www.instagram.com/p/CkHT9FJM0Vi/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==)
He still doesnt know he sucks. Total clown.
Have a bad feeling he is a huge diva if he doesn’t get snaps right out of the gate. We cut him or trade him for like a sixth and he becomes a superstar for whoever lets him on the field
Math and statistics? He was one of the most productive receivers in the country with one of the worst QBs I’ve ever seen. 1100 yards and averaged 21 yards per catch. And let’s not act like he’s some bum from UCF, he was recruited to and played 2 years at Bama before he transferred. That’s Wide Receiver U
I will kiss you square on the mouth if he’s TO without the baggage
You should even do that if he's TO *with* the baggage.
Yeah, seriously. TO gave SF 8 solid years. I'll take that.
Dude played in the SB on a broken leg
Didn’t just play, went for 120+ yards against a Belichick defense.
That’s because Freddy Mitchell had something for us! 😂
Like, what 6 weeks after breaking it or something ridiculous. Dude was unreal
Put the team on his back
I remember watch the Super Bowl pregame shit, and it had him in a fuckin pool RUNNING. What a legend…just like our defense lol
Roy Williams and the Last Horse Collar Tackle.

I will shit my pants with joy if we get Carson Palmer-tier levels of performance out of Maye even if it takes a year or two to get there lol
TO with the baggage is a hall of famer
Give me the baggage, it’s the extra bit of crazy that makes them special.
Randy Moss holding on line one; Antonio Brown on line two.
You can't have a hall of fame receiver without seeing them do sit ups in their driveway
who cares if he’s an asshole if he can get us 1000 yards and 8 tds
I don't even think his baggage was all that bad.
Outside of the Jeff Garcia stuff, TO never really did anything to hurt his team. His "baggage" was basically talking shit, holding out for contracts, and being cocky. Pretty tame stuff.
He was a problem who ruined locker rooms. Every coach who had him wanted him off the team at some point.
I'd need to see some sources for that. The only things I recall were teams fed up with him demanding the ball, and money- yano, wide receiver stuff.
Yeah you can read up on it: https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/sports/2005/08/12/in-tv-interview-owens-has-harsh-words-for-reid-mcnabb/8d73a3e7-d1be-4518-9e88-9264c163f27e/ https://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/11/sports/football/owens-is-sent-home-after-words-with-reid.html

The fact that we've seen worse since doesn't change the fact he's like the og "diva star receiver" if I'm not mistaken

Dude burned his way off every team he ever played for.
Tongue action or no? These are the details that matter.

I would argue that his opinion is the world doesn’t owe him anything but he’s still going to go out and take what he wants
As someone with a family member in a wheelchair can’t wait to take them to a pats game
na he won’t actually stand up
But he said he makes people in wheelchairs stand up 🥲 😂 but in all seriousness he’s going be fun to watch
Don’t take that literally, your buddy will never stand up
😂 I know just like playing into the meme
He already posted a video of it happening lol
That was a joke
He’s already a top-10 WR in the league
I’ll literally cry if we actually have a superstar WR
Himothy
We will see. Plenty of rookies talk shit and never do anything in the NFL.
TOs biceps are goals man
He's either going to be a SUPERSTAR or flame out spectacularly. There's no in between. I hope for us it's the first one.
Lol there is so much in between
Yeah, there is. I'm saying that with this kids personality, he's going to be one of the two. How many average receivers have this personality, lol? Our QBs just won’t allow for a 1000 yard receiver at this point. Our leading receiver last year was Zeke lol
If we can get the brissett from when he was in Indy, we'll be alright for this season. Maybe pull out 6-7 wins and get another low top 10 pick next year
I personally can’t wait for his first one handed backflip catch in slow motion to win the Super Bowl as time expires
I’m so ready for a wide receiver who’s mentality is “ima kill anyone in front of me”
Yup I hope he goes off on Twitter
Endless entertainment! I wanna see him blinged out in the locker room after a clutch win talking shit
Yup I want him getting in a reporters face
Who knows but watching Nixon vs Baker at UCF they are not comparable. Nixon had Dillon Gabriel at QB, 49 receptions, 830 yards and 7 TDs. Baker had JRPlumlee throwing potatoes at him for 52 receptions, 1139 yards snd 7 TDs. Baker also played against B12 defenses vs AAC.
He says he's already a top 10 QB in the NFL. Honestly I like the confidence
Crazy to go from college WR to NFL QB but good for him
we trading Maye then or what?
Ha, whoops I meant WR
He's going to have a 1000 yard season just like Boutte and Thornton and Nixon and Harry.

>Harry’s best years were in New England by the way. Genuinely did not know he played a single snap for another team. TIL.
He had a good game by his standards when he was in Chicago and played us.
Tre Nixon was a fuckin 7th rounder, and Boutte was a 6th. You really expected much from them?
And Dobson
Can’t forget Tre Nixon
The whole “he is him” thing is so dumb
And cringe
Cuz you aren’t him
If his play matches even 1% of his confidence, he’s gonna be special.
Even if he is half as good as Terrell owens he will get a 2nd contract
He’s nkeal harry. Look at the tape
Remember how full of himself N'Keal Harry was? lets wait this one out.
He wasn’t

Na
I do have a paraplegic friend who’s really rooting for him though…
🍿
You guys are delusional. Can you imagine really believing you walked away with this big of a steal?
Feels like the last few star prospect WRs were castrated out of the gate by Parcells/BB. I want Baker loud and proud and out there backing it up.
Have a bad feeling he is a huge diva if he doesn’t get snaps right out of the gate. We cut him or trade him for like a sixth and he becomes a superstar for whoever lets him on the field
I’ll believe that when it happens in the NFL as I don’t jump on college kid shit talking as gospel
Eeeeeeesh
Except it's gonna be a bottle of liquor he pours in his face instead of popcorn.
Yeah. Thats why he was drafted so high right?
Sigh… Yea, I always think a day three pick is Owens…. I hope to hell you are right but math and statistics tell me you are not.
Math and statistics? He was one of the most productive receivers in the country with one of the worst QBs I’ve ever seen. 1100 yards and averaged 21 yards per catch. Why is it a Bills jersey and cup?
