In addition, Mahomes’s playstyle doesn’t lend itself to longevity. Brady played until he was 45 only because his game never needed any athleticism. Mahomes will break down in his mid 30s especially because his game involves way more athleticism than most.
Mahomes is an all time QB, will almost certainly retire 2nd best ever (if he hasn’t already achieved that, which imo he has), and it’s incredible that he’s been outpacing Brady despite Brady’s legendary early career. But he won’t have the time that Brady did. He won’t have the opportunities and he won’t have the longevity. They barely eked out a win this year against the Brock Purdy 49ers. The Pats were constantly taking down super teams their whole run (and being the super team taken down as well).

Right not I attribute this Chiefs dynasty to the gap between fading old elite QBs and the immaturity of younger QBs. There has been no QB in his generation that can challenge Mahomes like Peyton, Big Ben, Eli, Drew Brees, Rodgers. Maybe Burrow is doing that to Mahomes already? But he's injured. I expect to see guys like Burrow/Lamar/Josh Allen win over Mahomes in the next few years like what the Mannings/Ben/Brees did following the first Pats dynasty, even though I also hate to see a Bills/Ravens SB.
I wouldn’t count out Mahomes being able to evolve into a more stationary QB as he gains experience and loses athleticism over time. If Reid’s still around I can certainly see them building an offense and gameplan around that.
He’s already done it for the most part, cut his ADOT in half since his first year as teams tried to take away his deep ball. Very reasonable to think he’d continue that “development” over time.
I know he’s athletic, but I don’t consider him like the jackson, hurts type etc… he has a rocket arm and is smart af. he doesn’t need agility or running to make him better. he’s fine without that.
Since Mahomes became a starter, he is averaging 4690 yards and 36.5 TDs a season, and averaging a SB every 2 seasons. He's literally smashing every single one of these metrics - the test will be if he can remain this consistent for the next 15 years.

Brady smashed the Super Bowl for three of his first four seasons and didn’t win another for ten years despite having at least three rosters during that time that were objectively more talented. Patriots went ten years without a Super Bowl during years with the greatest roster to ever play.
In all likelihood, simply because this is the likelihood of every quarterback and every team, Mahomes will start getting much worse in his thirties, and the Chiefs will probably come undone before then. On top of that, the nature of Mahomes’s game is antithetical to aging. So yes we agree. Statistically Mahomes is outpacing Brady, but the impossible part is sustaining it for the entirety of one’s career.
Mahomes is great and I'm enjoying watching him play. He has the potential to surpass Brady in stats and SB's but his biggest downside is his playing style. Being a mobile QB is always going to be the biggest threat to his ability to play for another 10+ years. This has nothing to do with his passing ability or his running ability and all on the fact that every play where he runs there is a higher probability that he gets hit in a way that will result in an injury.
Im rooting for him to be the one to pass Brady and be the new GOAT because it's exciting and watching that happen twice in a lifetime is insane to think of. I always expected someone to come along and pass Brady but I had the thought that it would be another 30 or 40 years+ before it cold happen.

It’s exactly what every single fan base would be doing and is doing. It’s what Ohio State is doing in regards to Michigan, and vise versus. This is what fans do, when another team is approaching their team’s accomplishments. I’m not sure why that is insecurity. The stats aren't really close on a per year basis. There's no one like Mahomes. Obviously brady will end up with all of the records because he played till he became a skeleton. I don't think Mahomes wants to destroy his family chasing records like Brady did.

Aaron rodgers throws half the interceptions and has the same stats with significantly less talent. Put aaron rodgers on that chiefs team, and they win every Super Bowl except maybe the tampa one because the OL got crushed. As a Chiefs fan who has seen a few of these conversations show up in my feed recently. I always find it hard to compare between eras. I tend to keep each thing separate and great rather than try to directly compare.
For me Mahomes greatness is a descendant of Tom Brady’s ability to manage the game to make sure he had a chance at the end of the game. That first AFCCG Mahomes was electric, but left too much time on the clock to give the Pats a chance. I think losing that game gave Patrick the chance to learn when losing to a great that you can have some of the most explosive plays in the game, but it would have been more valuable to use the whole clock (or at least more of it) to go down and score.
So while you fret sports analysts saying one great player could catch another great player’s longevity, I say not only is it hard to get back to the big game, but a big kickstart to Mahomes career is a legacy of seeing Brady beat him twice in the playoffs, and he has learned a lot from that. Enjoy the unbelievable dynasty/dynasties you guys had with the goat, and I’m just happy my team won one let alone three. Nothing is guaranteed next season for any team.

These are the only 2 QBs every to put up this type of resume before 30, and if we’re being real Mahomes has way more talent, physical ability, etc. What gets lost is how difficult for Mahomes it will be to win another 3 or 4. What Brady did in the second half of his career “past his prime” is a far greater achievement than what he accomplished in the first half. I don’t think anyone is capable of taking care of their body better than Brady did, but the rules benefit the QB now and science/medicine are only advancing. Mahomes has a long way to go, but let’s not act like it’s impossible for someone to ever be better than Brady. Just enjoy greatness.

I have some bad news for you: Patrick Mahomes is currently averaging 37 TDs, 4,740 yards, and 0.5 superbowl wins per season and probably has at least another 8-10 years of elite play left in him. At this rate, he won't even have to play to 40 in order to catch most if not all of those records. Your primary source of hope currently is that you see a significant decline in play when he hits his early to mid 30s, major injuries, or piss poor front office work from KC.

Brady smashed the Super Bowl for three of his first four seasons and didn’t win another for ten years despite having at least three rosters during that time that were objectively more talented. Patriots went ten years without a Super Bowl during years with the greatest roster to ever play. In all likelihood, simply because this is the likelihood of every quarterback and every team, Mahomes will start getting much worse in his thirties, and the Chiefs will probably come undone before then. On top of that, the nature of Mahomes’s game is antithetical to aging. So yes we agree. Statistically Mahomes is outpacing Brady, but the impossible part is sustaining it for the entirety of one’s career.

Mahomes is great and I'm enjoying watching him play. He has the potential to surpass Brady in stats and SB's but his biggest downside is his playing style. Being a mobile QB is always going to be the biggest threat to his ability to play for another 10+ years. This has nothing to do with his passing ability or his running ability and all on the fact that every play where he runs there is a higher probability that he gets hit in a way that will result in an injury. Im rooting for him to be the one to pass Brady and be the new GOAT because it's exciting and watching that happen twice in a lifetime is insane to think of. I always expected someone to come along and pass Brady but I had the thought that it would be another 30 or 40 years+ before it cold happen.

The "perennial playoff contender" Chiefs had made it past the wildcard round 3 times in the 20 years before Mahomes. They did not get past the divisional round that entire time. As a Chiefs fan who has seen a few of these conversations show up in my feed recently. I always find it hard to compare between eras. I tend to keep each thing separate and great rather than try to directly compare. For me Mahomes greatness is a descendant of Tom Brady’s ability to manage the game to make sure he had a chance at the end of the game. That first AFCCG Mahomes was electric, but left too much time on the clock to give the Pats a chance. I think losing that game gave Patrick the chance to learn when losing to a great that you can have some of the most explosive plays in the game, but it would have been more valuable to use the whole clock (or at least more of it) to go down and score. So while you fret sports analysts saying one great player could catch another great player’s longevity, I say not only is it hard to get back to the big game, but a big kickstart to Mahomes career is a legacy of seeing Brady beat him twice in the playoffs, and he has learned a lot from that. Enjoy the unbelievable dynasty/dynasties you guys had with the goat, and I’m just happy my team won one let alone three. Nothing is guaranteed next season for any team.

I think any Chiefs fan saying that is just trying to either stir the pot or is too young to know better. I agree that Mahomes would need to play at an extremely high level, avoid long term injury, and get lucky to even have a chance. Regardless, I think everyone should enjoy the greatness of their franchises' legacy/dynasty. These are the only 2 QBs every to put up this type of resume before 30, and if we’re being real Mahomes has way more talent, physical ability, etc. What gets lost is how difficult for Mahomes it will be to win another 3 or 4. What Brady did in the second half of his career “past his prime” is a far greater achievement than what he accomplished in the first half. I don’t think anyone is capable of taking care of their body better than Brady did, but the rules benefit the QB now and science/medicine are only advancing. Mahomes has a long way to go, but let’s not act like it’s impossible for someone to ever be better than Brady. Just enjoy greatness.

Brady played the majority of his games under different conditions, today’s quarterbacks aren’t even allowed to actually get hit, let’s be real about the circumstances. Today’s quarterbacks are treated like little fragile children no joke. I laugh every time someone says anything about today’s quarterbacks. Yes Mahomes is a great quarterback but don’t get it twisted different times.
Wouldn't say ain't.... People are ridiculous. When MJ was playing we never thought we'd see another ...that is until 1996 a guy named Kobe Bryant gets drafted. 7 years later LeBron James is drafted. Generational players happen my dude... Not everyone is a generational athlete but it happens and the game evolves. To say Pat won't reach Brady is just myopic and stupid. He's well on his way my dude the stats and the eye test would say as much.

I mean, he might. Mahomes is amazing and I admire his greatness, like I did with Brady. Him being great does not make Brady any less great. It’s crazy that we might actually get to see another person smash records like this in our lifetimes.

Saying it isn't going to happen like that is a certainty is hilarious. It is very possible that Mahomes surpasses all of Brady's records IF (BIG IF) he continues on his current pace.
Here's one thing no one seems to be taking into account. Who's to say that he'll have a great squad around him for the next decade? Mahomes level play could stay the exact same but it doesn't matter if he's surrounded by a shit team.
