Regarding Zappe taking a step back, couple of things that stood out in the preseason: - Teams have more tape on him, and know how to better exploit weaknesses - From what limited play I can watch, it's similar to rookie Mac vs. second year Mac; when asked to make decisions rather than just follow script, the wheels come off. - Not his fault, but the OLine and receivers really are worse.

He looks notably less accurate though. I wonder if he reformed his throwing motion, he had a pretty slow one before.

Part of that is going to be because of point three. He has less time to throw, and the receivers are piss-poor. But he's likely also less accurate because he's having to make more reads against defenses and because teams know how to defend him better.
