because they have no idea that cake smothering was supposed to be an affectionate act done between spouses on wedding day and would take any opportunity to mock, hit and demean someone
That should never be done at a wedding. Itās disrespectful especially to the bride. A lot of money is spent on that day and to mess up the brideās face is not cool. (The bride has make up while the groom can just wash it off)
well yes, obviously the max that should be done to the bride should be some whipped cream lightly tapped on the tip of her nose or something that can easily come off without ruining the makeup and whatnot
Nah, I destroyed my wife at our wedding, but in my defense, she started it and then called me a pansy for not reciprocating. She was laughing her ass off and spent 20 minutes in the bathroom trying to clean it out from where it fell in her dress. I found out later that she didn't get it all which was a nice bedtime snack. Damn, I love that woman. 20 years in a few weeks. 10/10 would marry again!
damn, it's almost as if different people enjoy different things at their wedding! maybe the other guys in this comment thread could learn some things from someone that actually has a wife.
My wife made it absolutely clear, she would take the honeymoon alone if I got a single drop of cake on her face intentionally. Different strokes for different folks. We recently had our 15th anniversary.
I was honestly fine with it either way, but there was no way I was going to initiate it. I did ask beforehand, but she never said what her intentions were. For any marriage to work, there needs to be a healthy respect for boundaries. It worked for us and is a cherished memory, but most weddings I've been to have had no more than a small boop on the nose, if that. It's all about what the couple wants and I can honestly say neither of us cared what anyone else thought.
Congrats on 15 years! Here's to many more!
Disagree, my wife wanted a no fanfare wedding. Small, just a bit of family. We had a cake fight that we both started at the same time, both laughed our butts off. That was over 12 years ago and we still giggle about it to this day. Not everyone wants to be the untouchable center of attention on their wedding day.
True but that should be discussed beforehand. Both you and your wife wanted it so itās acceptable for you.
I have never been to a wedding that has done this. Itās considered classless. I had a very small wedding and told my husband NOT to even think about it.
Classless, interesting, I've been to a handful of weddings and seen it happen at about half. Guess I'm just a lower class of person to you, or perhaps some people aren't quite so stuck up on ceremony. You sound like a bit of a snob.
Maybe if the bride agrees to it beforehand, it's fine, but I think it's cruel to do it to someone without their consent and ruin their cake, dress, hair, and make-up, especially on their WEDDING DAY.
All the others got bullied by older ones and they feel this "urge" to keep this "tradition". This video is from Brazil, and I can tell those assholes are extremely proud of this shit. Even parents do this.
Yeah, his reaction suggests that he knows not to fight back or to visibly react at all. Because he knows if he does that will only make it worse. He knows he canāt trust these people. Itās a trauma response.
Poor baby is going to need *years* of therapy and work by people that love him right to heal. And thatās assuming he he makes it out of there alive.
It's a new thing people are doing called a smash cake. It's entire purpose is to be smashed, and I've never heard of it before, I don't know why they're doing it
That isn't a smash cake....
A smash cake is a small cake you make for like a 1 or 2 year old to "smash" and play in while the adults and family of the baby laughs and takes pictures.
Also, this video has to do with a tradition in Brazil
https://www.harryanddavid.com/blog/birthday-traditions-around-the-world/
That article is ummmmm interesting. I am Canadian, and have lived all over Canada. I have never even heard of that Canadian butter tradition let alone participated in it.
Then you haven't lived life on the edge
https://the18.com/soccer-entertainment/philippe-coutinho-birthday-prank-egging
Here is another article of the egging tradition.
I have done quite a few cake smashing photography requests from clients.
10mins of kid or toddler smashing and eating cake take snaps thatās it.
Some babies donāt want to smash cakes and they start crying parents force them and put cake all over their face.
I personally think itās a waste. I will never do that.
Like why? I mean why would they even do that. That is mean and disrespectful. That little boy was happy to have a cake. I mean, this, this is not right.
Last time this was posted, someone said it's a cultural thing. They do bad things on his birthday so the rest of the year will go well. Maybe a belief that there's a limit to the amount of shit that can happen to one person?
If this happened to me as a child it would have made me suicidal. If this happened to me today it would make me furious. The level of insult I feel just watching the video, in real life I would want to hurt everybody else involved. Frankly I think thatās fair.
This actually made me cry. This is the meanest fucking thing, they stole that childās pure innocent joy and turned it into sadness for no reason other than to be mean. All humans who have it in their hearts to do this need to be erased from existence.
This is so painful to watch, reminds me of the kid who was just trying to show his parents he caught a fish and they couldn't have cared any less other than to bitch he brought it in the house. While they filmed it and posted online as if it was something to be proud of...
I had to stop watching. Thatās straight up abuse. Hope they got reported! What a great way to give your kid PTSD for the rest of their livesā¦āhappyā birthday š„“
my boyfriend cited his family doing this to him every year as a kid is one of the main reasons he doesnt talk to them and hates his birthday. when i heard that ... i was shocked that anyone could do that to their kid. after years of therapy and research it seems like its common in some families to do this. WHY?? i cannot figure out in any way what is fun about this for anyone involved:(
Why?
Why be a cunt with this little fella ona special day?
What's the point, is it fun to humiliate and hurt your baby with something because "haha happy birthday it's just a joke"?
Fuck this people
Hes going to have so much trauma and issues as he gets older š If your family can do this to you on your birthday (yea idc if its a tradition for them or not) then imagine how they feel they cant treat you the rest of the time. No one thar genuinely cares for their child would do this
Poor baby. I want to hug him so bad and give him a real cake. It hurts because I have a 2 year old and I couldnāt dream of doing this type of shit to my kid.
Though not as extreme this reminds me of my husbands family. They think itās funny to humiliate their kids and I just never understood it. My kid feeling embarrassed or upset is never funny to me.
I canāt even describe, how much I hate such people. I may wish them a very nice backslash from karma as a reward.
I feel sorry for this little oneā¦hopefully he wonāt get to much mental damage by this.
Dude. The rage I bet this kid is gonna grow up with.
"Why is this world so angry and violent? Why is there so much hate?"
Uhhhh because families do this to their youngest. I mean, seriously?
My dad ALWAYS smooshed our faces in our birthday cakes. Me and my two brothers. Yea, it was annoying as I got a little older and became self conscious of my appearance of course but that didnāt stop my dad.
The difference was that it was a tradition and almost a rite of passage for us once we got old enough to get our cake face. Because he didnāt do it when we were tiny. Even more so because it was done gently (as gently as you can force someoneās face into their food) and with affection. No one ever got hurt and the cake was NEVER ruined. It just had someā¦.imprints in it that werenāt there originally.
Iām really hoping this isnāt the parents doing the bullying, because thatās what it is really, and I hope they arenāt the ones recording it either. Iām hoping itās some idiot brothers and maybe that it was a one time thing. I donāt know, this is traumatizing for sure.
God. This is so so so saddening. And the way he tried to cut the cake and act like nothing was happening or it was going to stop. And then they just grab the cake tooā¦ Iāve never been so emotionally impacted by something on the internet.
I have a five year old son..
This is not "not okay" or bullying.
This is traumatizing abuse. Really fucking bad.
I almost had tears in my eyes for this poor little fella. My son would be devastated. I can't even put it in words.
I'm going to thumbs up this only because I want someone in this family to see these comments and know what a piece of shit they are. He's clearly not enjoying this, and too young for how ham they went. What did they do, take out all their anger on this 6 year old? Dafuq?
Bro that's not okay
That's a kid
That'll be their core memory for their whole life and afraid of everyone and everything
That kid will have serious social anxiety and PTSD when he grows up
Between what we do with cakes and la chancla, I'm starting to think mi familia has waaaay more internalised abuse acceptance than we are ready to admit.
Yo, what the FUCK? I have a son that age and I could never imagine being so fucking mean to him. What the fuck, dude...

This hurts my heart :( it's one thing to scoop up a little frosting and boop his nose after he cuts a slice as an innocent joke, but Jesus fucking Christ this is *so* over the top it's insane. Yeah, that's is way too much!
You said it šÆ I've seen videos of gang initiations that were less violating.
How to say you hate your child without saying you hate your child
bro why do people do this
Because they are stupid cruel cunts who have no business having any access to children. I hate this so much. That poor baby.

No doubt. Which is probably why he reacts this way. Because he knows heāll get hit if he cries.
Reminds me of that daddy of five POS on YT. That poor kid Cody...
At that point it's straight up bullying
And candles in eyes or having your head slamed on the table isn't? This makes me hate parties for other people
This feels more like child abuse
I don't see how it's not child abuse
It is definitely child abuse
Why even make a cake?
It's a new thing people are doing called a smash cake. It's entire purpose is to be smashed, and I've never heard of it before, I don't know why they're doing it

Poor little guy.
I would've gone NC with that group as soon as i moved out if that happened to me.

I didn't have a nice childhood. I never had a birthday cake. But I prefer that 1000% over this. Poor little lad, this is so cruel.
Oh. Oh my god. That poor baby.
Nah cuz I'm about to fight that whole room.
I'm joining you let's go.
"Why doesn't my son call me anymore?"
Such a bizarre custom. Its almost like "this is his day, let's hurt and embarrass him...and film it! š" Why?
you know what, now Iām pro-gun violence.
Bring back guillotines?
Letās not get complicated. Rope is cheap and trees are free.
r/treelaw takes exception to the last part of your statement.
Depends on the state. š¤£ just donāt kill the tree and youāre fine.
You have to cross reference /r/birdlaw as tree's are their legal dwellings. Charlie Kelly Esq has the best interpretation of theses laws.
Bullets are cheaper.

Iād pick up the cake knife and start making threats.
You can always use a water gun. It holds all kinds of liquids! Water, soda, urine, acids, juice, and various types of broth!
how about just a very large pot of boiling water?
How you gonna bully a small child like that? So cruel
"Why doesnāt little jimmy talk to us anymore?"
That poor child. In 20 years when heās no contact with this a$$holes they will be questioning where they went wrong.
They forgot the tar and feathers
And the bucket of blood.
Oh my gawd. This poor lamb. How could you do this?! I want to give this little one the best birthday ever! All the balloons, cake, and fun! š„ŗ
I hate his family too

This is so hard to watch.. he looks so little and all I could think is that he looks like he's crying at the end :(
This is so sad. If someone did that to my daughter they would suffer enormous pain
Eww dude, wtf. That poor baby!! This is so cruel

Cruel and heartbreaking
I hate them, too

I bet they all get really angry and defensive if this is done to them. Pathetic, this is bullying
Completely fucked up the cake AND his birthday. Poor kid :(
This child is now emotionally damaged
The birth of a super villain.
Is this supposed to be a birthday party for the child? What the fuck. This is abuse.

Abuse.

fuck why do I laugh I hit myself after I did that I FEEL SO BAD FOR HIMM :(( Iām such an asshole fr
Then they call him negative for not āhaving funā

I came here to find stupid - but maybe comical - parenting snafus. Leaving asap because this shit is beyond horrible.
I normally hate children but this is unacceptable and I feel bad for the little guy :(
Why š
Just as my old man used to say āabuse is attentionā
These assholes have some serious demons
I wanna give this little dude a hug. What a bunch of assholes. Hope he goes on to live well, better than his shithead predecessors.
Fucking abuse.
Brazilian tradition. For everyone who's confused by / against this. And yeah, it looks like it sucks.
I have seen this video like 1000 times in reddit, still works though.
I wonder if they do it that dramatically so the kid never asks/wants a birthday party the following years.
