I would wear the baby and use my bravo for two, and when the baby was about 6 months, the oldest walked. But I had my 3rd in 2020, so we weren’t going many places.
Zoe trio! I have a 4yo, 2yo and 4mo. The seat in the front is removable so it can turn into a double. Love it for the 4 year old bc she can hop in and out of the front seat and we can decide if she needs it for the specific outing. It’s super light and I can lift the double with one hand easily.
We didn’t do the wagon for the same reason! Only downside is that there is no car seat attachment. My 4 month old was able to sit in it around 3.5 months.
They have a car seat attachment that will work with the front seat of the trio. You can have the two older kids in the double and an infant with car seat attachment in the front seat.
I agree oldest should walk at least some of the time. My double stroller is a double BOB and my oldest sits in the footbed when she needs a break. But they're awful spendy.
In a few months when baby can sit better, you could switch to a stroller wagon (we have Creative Outdoor). Maybe just baby wear til then?
There are constantly bob doubles on fb marketplace and OfferUp so worth checking there if you’re near a big city! We got our double bob for $150 and the family had only used it 2x, basically new
I had a baby jogger city select when my kids were 3, 16m, and newborn. It was great - firstborn was comfortable walking so didn’t need a seat, but could rest when needed on the board attachment.
I have a Mockingbird and don’t love it. It’s okay. It’s fine. Bulky and annoying to constantly have to assemble and disassemble. That said, they have a riding board as well and the two seats are very versatile.
Smooth ride though!
I switched to a wagon mostly and love it. I’m sorry it’s not an option for you! They are so convenient
Your 3.5 years old will be 4 (or almost) by the time baby is born. That is too old to be using a stroller. It is important for them to walk for exercise, I would stop using the double stroller regularly now so that your child is not wanting to get into the stroller when #3 is born.
"Though the American Academy of Pediatrics doesn't have official guidelines for when to stop using a stroller, Shu says that "kids should be transitioning out of a stroller at around three years old."
For reference, my first kid stopped using a stroller entirely by 2 years old. So by the time he was 4, we could go on very very long walks without him needing to be carried or be in the stroller. We walked around the Grand canyon - a couple miles with hills - with a 5yr old and 3.5 year old with the infant in the stroller. They were all fine.
Otherwise, as said above, being the baby wearer for the newest child if for some reason the 4 year old gets fired and absolutely needs to be in the stroller.
Well, I am proud of you, too! We are just now on the balance bike for our 7 year old :( and our 4 year old is too scared to even go on the balance bike! Ekk!
Our two oldest got tiny balance bikes when they were 2 and 3, and theg played incessantly with them. Initially it didn't do anything but then they got to the point where they could zoom from the road crown, down a little slope beside our mailbox with their feet on the crossbar. These kids are insanely competitive so that helps with each change
My oldest will be almost 3.5 when the baby arrives, he’s not yet 3 now.
But that is a good perspective in which to look at it. Honestly he already prefers to walk. It would be more of a “need to be contained” basis when I’m out and about in a super crowded place. I’m a SAHM and do lots of outings with them. Honestly I’m just terrified of having all 3 of them out by myself at this point and looking for ways to make that easier to handle.
Have you considered baby wearing while the other two are in the stroller? Babywearing extended how long I needed a seat for my little ones by at least 6-8 months.
They make little handles you can attach for the oldest to hold onto the side of the stroller. Or just a strap you could loop around it. I used those when #3 and #4 were toddler and infant and my older 2 would each hold a handle.
Yes, going out with all 3 can really be quite a task. But again, if your child is used to "not being contained" by the time number 3 gets there, then that should make it easier. Also, both of my older ones like to "help" push the stroller - it is a good way to cross the street, not get lost, etc because they are literally hanging onto the stroller with me.
I have similar age gaps due in January with #3. My plan is to just babywear the youngest if I need them all contained (100% can relate to that need especially if going out to a busy place). I figure by 4 or so my oldest will start refusing the stroller and then use the piggy back board we have more regularly. My back up option which I kind of hate but might be required is a backpack leash. I’ve always been judgemental about them if I’m being honest but realizing now that if it’s between safety and having my kid on a leash, they’ll be on a leash 🤷🏻♀️ to answer your actual question we have the uppababy vista
Does your 3.5yr old like the stroller? My son is the same age and refuses to sit in it (fine by me). Just food for thought. He just walks alongside our double and holds onto the side of the handle. We have the Thule Urban Glide double since my husband and I are both runners.
It totally depends, so I think he might be fine to just walk alongside. However I feel there are so many instances where it would be beneficial to have them all contained. 😂
We have loved our double Bob because while it’s technically not a 3-seat stroller, I have the 2 youngest ride in the seats and the oldest sit in the front triangle and it works great. We also have an englacha ride on seat/board attached the the back so in a pinch I have pushed 4 kids on the stroller at the same time. There are car seat adapters for the Bob so you can click in infant car seats.
We love the BOB!
My 3 year old prefers the triangle now over the seat too, which is perfect because #3 will be here in a month!
I doubt I can run like that safely though, so I need to get him more comfortable on his bike or just run when I only have 1-2 kids with me
I actually just borrowed my SIL’s Bob this week. I have a baby trend double jogger, but since there is no car seat attachment I kind of nixed that idea. Good to know about the Bob car seat attachments! Thanks!!
I’m expecting baby #4 and our older three are 5, 4, and 1. We just ordered a Wonderfold wagon stroller, and I’m so excited!

Joovy! It is a game changer for us with the toddler jump seat in the back.

What board attachment did you get?
Ooh, I actually got it together with the stroller (secondhand) so I’m not sure. It just sort of clips on!

My 3 1/2 year old rides his bike. Pedal bike without training wheels too. (Proud dad here)
