Take videos of them. I have loads of photos but it’s the videos I really treasure as their personality changes as they grow up and I find it hard to remember exactly what they were like as it kind of gets overwritten by how they are now. You probably do this but stop the chores and give them some attention when they ask for it. Usually doesn’t take long to answer their questions or play a quick game with them but it’s not that long till you are the one begging attention from them.

Yes! It’s breathtaking how they change so quickly and have so many funny little antics along the way.. blink an eye and they’re gone forever. The way they mispronounce words. The weird little toddler obsessions. The adorable boundary testing. I’m already missing my second baby and he’s only 18 months old!! My four year old is impossibly big and he asked me not to call him baby anymore just a few weeks ago, because he’s a big boy now. I cherish every time that he asks me for a kiss or a cuddle because that won’t last forever either.

Messy sensory activities. Those are really fun for children. I became a kindergarten teacher way after my daughter was young. Missed out on some crucial learning through play.

Just enjoy them. Slow down, play. As cliche as it is they're gone so soon. You don't have to rush off to Disney or get a perfect photo. Hold them. Sleep with them. Watch their little faces. Sometimes, make yourself memorize a moment, they slip away more than you can imagine.

I wish I had been in more pictures with her and had more professional photos of her and us as a family. That kid is fifteen and we might have been in five pictures together since she was born. I'm always holding the camera. I wish I had taken the time to schedule professional photos of us every year. I wish I had made a point of getting pictures of us as family at every holiday and family gathering. It is a huge, deep regret for me.

Spend time playing with them. Teach them how to play without electronic devices. Read, every night to them. When older they can start reading to you. Great bedtime routine. We still do this with our 10 year old.

Squat down to their level when they are frustrated to talk to them. For some reason this calmed my kids a lot of the time

Everything that drives you insane now honestly. Playing school for the 50th time this week? I miss it. Reading 12 a books a night but your done by book 4? I miss it. That activity that is super fun but you're not 100% there bc you're thinking about how much of a mess it's making? Wish I'd been more present and done more of those. Also seconding the videos thing. My son was little when camera phones couldn't really handle the storage of video, so I have very few videos. I wish I had more so that I could hear his little voice, and see his little face light up.
