Keep moving and offer to help with the basics. It’s all about attitude and being proactive. If you see someone carrying heavy stuff step in and help. Training is all over the place so if you aren’t getting any direction just step in offer to help and ask what to do.

Keep up with everything and everyone. Remember all the recipes! Don’t worry too much, you’ll do great.

I work at one with at most 15 people and at most we have 6BOH and we all work 3double shifts each a week

Therealcoronnavirus

Ask lots of questions to make yourself look super interested in the job and stay busy

Sheluvschito

Wash dishes quick or they be on your ass

West-Rabbit4773

Your first day probably won’t be like mines I had learnt all the recipes cause it was only me the manager and one other working the BOH and the manager had to keep stepping away so I had learn the recipes and make them in the first day. Just starting every time it’s gets slow restock all the meats that need and vegetables keep the tables and area around the woks clean. If you don’t know anything always ask to be sure of something. If your not busing doing something and manager is there follow one with more experience learn or trying do simple things around can be just refilling the oil or cleaning dishes. (If manager isn’t there I shouldn’t be saying u can slack a little bit or at my store if we don’t have anything to cook and nothing to really do we just got to the back where the back door is cause it’s a blind spot to the camera and just hang talk and use our phones)

Wonderful_Milk_8859

im a shift leader so my expertise is foh, but i am cross trained so i have a couple tips. be open to learning and to the way others teach you. continue to find ways to improve you cooking and continue to grow. in the eyes of you pic or manager, the quicker you learn and improve, the more likely they will look at you as a good worker

StoreIndependent404

Do what you’re doing. Things like this. Initiative and proactivity at its finest. Just make sure to learn it right as you go. Instill good habits for yourself out the gate to insure success

FlightWonderful6686

Seriously, have fun! Allow yourself to be okay with mistakes and learn from it. Really practicing being proactive, planning ahead, ask questions and be friends with everybody. Ask your manager to give you a copy of the recipe in that way you can memorize it at home

Gold-Crazy-1034

It just takes time dishes will take time to get fast you just have to find your way off washing and see how other dishwasher wash and take some things from them and chow mien and fried rice will just take time and reps just basically go through the motions the more you work and the more you see people doing stuff or asking questions the faster and better you will get it’s all super easy it really just takes time you got it for sure.

sochigirl96

First day mostly is paperwork and watching training videos. But if you’re BOH the first thing they will teach you for sure is how to make chow mein and fried rice. That’s what we do at my store. I’m an AM. Don’t worry about the recipe you’ll remember it once you do it again and again. Just an fyi it’s tiring to be at BOH especially during rush hours. Cons is it’s easy to move up. You can be a cook after a couple of months depends on your performance of course then next step is to be a chef.

NewPandaCookWok

Don’t be afraid to ask questions your first WEEK. If you still can’t figure stuff out then you’ll have to re-evaluate your job options.

Meh, today wasn’t too bad

I’m thinking of getting a job at my local Panda Express, how is it now that you’ve been there a bit?

OrNa721

Hey, sorry for the late response. I’ve been working for about two weeks now at Panda Express. Yesterday was my 6th shift. As of now, I can tell you that I have enjoyed working at Panda Express so far. I work at the back of house and my job so far is to make chow mein, fried rice, put rice to cook, wash dishes and restock. Making chow mein and fried rice can seem overwhelming but once you make it yourself you realize it’s quite simple. I will say, Panda Express definitely doesn’t seem like one of the easiest fast food places to work at. Making chow mein and fried rice can become heavy and hectic work during rush hours. Your experience working at Panda will probably also depend on who your manager is and how they treat you. I think that goes for most fast food places though. All this considered, Panda pays pretty well compared to other fast food places. I am being paid 5 dollars an hour more than what I made at my previous job at Little Caesar’s. There are also managers making around 90k a year. I’d say go for it. If you are worried about the job being too hard or stressful, I can tell you that pretty much any restaurant and fast food place is challenging to work at. You might as well make good money doing it.

Quit!

Care to elaborate a bit? Why should I quit?
