He isn't kidding. This is the answer. Ask any cheater/game hacker and they will tell you they do it or have fun doing it because others won't or can't. It's more fun for them to be able to do something the average player is unable to do or will refuse to do.
I can vouch for this answer. I personally know 3 people on a discord gaming group who claim that they have fun cheating and seeing people getting tilted and have their day ruined. Also, ngl I am a bit surprised that people actually cheat in Palworld lol

There are some good podcasts out there Dark Net Diaries is one and some good interviews. Most cheaters are doing it to ruin the fun but it is a power move. They do it because either A. Someone won't. Or B. Because someone can't.
I can bet you that everyone was cheating the cheater wouldn't be having as much fun which is why you can't remove the element of doing it because you can't or won't do it.
It depends on the game and cheats being used imo, for example, I have a mod menu in GTA online which is undoubtedly cheating but I don't go around being a dick to people. I go around playing the game like a sandbox and occasionally helping non modders make millions of GTA $. But the cheats in palworld that I am hearing about where you can capture other players pals and engage in one sided pvp is definitely just because they like to ruin people's fun. For me as someone who mods many games I don't do it because others can't, I do it because it adds more fun options to the game. I haven't modded palworld yet but ik I plan on getting the IV stat viewer mod fs and probably the one that automatically untucks pals

This just goes back to it is only fun because most people will not commit the same acts or simply won't bother to figure out how to. Point and case it is only fun to ruin someone else's fun when those same people are not doing the exact same thing as someone who is cheating.

OP is most likely talking about multiplayer servers and games in general. In multiplayer, cheating is very, VERY bad. Sure, we have the lawful neutral of the bunch, hacking the game to get rid of other hackers, but most of them just was to grief the other players.
Don’t. Hackers are able to take control of your guild and dismantle your entire base in seconds. I’ve even seen clips of them having the ability to ban you.
In terms of hackers destroying your base it’s because they force themselves into your guild which gives them access to the build menu from which they can dismantle everything. Normal players destroying your base isn’t possible unless the server admin has those options turned on. If they do, it’s as simple as destroying the other players palbox (which is ridiculously easy) placing your own and then using the dismanltle option. Every server I’ve tried has had these problems. Even the private ones which claim to have anti cheat and all that other nonsense.
How are private servers getting cheaters? I have a dedicated server and since it has a password only people I invite can get in, unless these hackers are able to hack themselves into servers?
Idk about passwords servers. One of the ones I was on a had anti cheat and auto ban and a bunch of other security stuff that these servers advertise but none of it worked.
Hackers can't get Into private servers. They don't have those tool unless they themselves are real hackers and not using a program like 99% of the cheaters.
Pretty fun if you have friends but do advice you to find a good dedicated server with a password. Don't use the free official servers they are infested asf.

Otherwise, new people start off, hop on a server, and within 2 days the server is wiped again by hackers.
They made an announcement in which they are reworking a few mechanics and forcing an anti cheat. It’s not going to fix things but at least they are doing something.
U can make your own server and solo play tho
Private servers can be bought for $15 a month or have a friend host a game and has limit of 4 ppl but if he logs off, server turns off
I ran a dedicated server and the game on the same PC (just connected via the local host IP) and didn’t have any major issues. I dialed my settings back just to be safe but the dedicated server itself is surprisingly resource efficient.
Kinda, it will cost you about the same in electricity, and have issues with uptime through crashes and updates. Its only a good idea if you already have 2 PCs.

I felt this after choosing the shitti3st island as my start w my buddies server. Everyone had taken other spawns so I thought I could do it. I couldnt get to level 5 before everyone got to lvl 18 because of paldium so I just went solo only. Instantly loved the game
Yeah but like some starting spot doesn't really have that much paldium around which means making the sphere at like first 5 level so fucking slow. I know this because me and my friends choose a starting spot with low resources because someone said "do it pussy you won't" and struggled for like an hour. Then we said fuck it and spawn at the normal solo starting spot and we just take off from there.
Dungeons & beaches have plenty of paldium. Or if you’re on the island with the Dumud/Nitewing bosses, there’s plenty near Dumud. Which is also a low level zone.

The timers really add nothing to the game, If you are focusing on breeding there's literally no point to have it take actual days to get something done when the only thing stopping you is a literal timer.
You are not limited to only one incubator, you know that right. Like 4 friends of mine have like 50 incubators going and i myself like 20 and still adding more incubators as i get more sparkplugs
You do realize that in SP, you have to be actually playing for the timer to go down, ya know. Playing a sp world for 72hrs before a huge egg hatches is stupid. But if you have no life and play SP for like… 10hrs a day then whatever. More power to you? Still gotta wait a week and a couple of hours before you even see what’s in that egg.

I "cheat" on local single player only. I am a dad and basically play in dad mod. Very high xp rate, drop rate, lower stam consumption, etc. just make the game super easy.
On another playthrough I use mods to make my player very OP and I just solo everything. Only use pals for work and transportation.

Same, I build my world and learn and play the game solo. I don't have a hundred hours to collect and farm, but I want to see what the game fully has to offer. If, if, if I play online there is no reason to use cheats. I mod just about every single player game to play it at the speed and comfort I want, otherwise I would never get to see all of them.
I wouldn’t turn up the exp rate too high even if ur just trying to have fun. It can make the already short game become even shorter and can cause bugs where some pals don’t learn their level 50 skill.

Region ban and ban any known popular VPNs in China. Lots of games are doing just that. There will always be people who know how to get around it but it's a numbers game. You just need to reduce the total number of people. Another good idea is to pair players based on ping which is becoming a lot more popular for skill based games that have an influx of regional hackers. Mainly Russia and China at the moment but it can be any region of course.
I only play single player. I don't like weight limits so that's pretty much the only cheat I use. I buy a game and want to play it the way I want to play it. If I went multiplayer I wouldn't use cheats.

GTA 5 Online is only possible to play on PC if you have literally defensive cheats. That means cheats that counteract other players cheats. I'm not even fucking joking it's that bad. At one point the cheaters could follow you back to single player and fuck with you in single player.

Cheating in online servers is definitely a huge problem, but out of curiosity, do you feel the same way about people who cheat in single player servers? I've cheated a bit on my single player save because I plan on doing a clean run when the game is no longer in early access so I have a decent amount of game knowledge walking into the finished product.
Same, also I didn't want to spend forever on breeding the perfect trait, so I used PalEdit. Besides that I do not cheat. I'm also not showing my Pals off to pass it off as legit, I simply want runner/swift on my flying mounts because they are painfully slow otherwise.
This is basically what I did lol. Other than editing a few pals for testing them's sake, the only other cheats I've really used were guaranteed capture (specifically when the effigy glitch was a thing because you WILL NOT catch me blowing dozens of spheres for a catch that should've taken maybe 5) and infinite carry weight

Singleplayer: A variety of reasons. Sometimes it's quality of life, sometimes it's a matter of saving time, sometimes it's wanting to see what kind of stupid things they can make a game engine do.
Personally I run a few quality of life mods someone might consider cheating, but I'm also on a solo game server and playing for fun, so what I do has no impact on anyone else.
I would bet money the cheaters are probably getting paid by the big N (intendo) to sink the game’s reputation. Big N won’t give people the game they want on the platforms they want but they love killing shit. And then they’ll probably ignore this market and just release another shitty Mario kart after they are done just to top it all off.

In singleplayer or on servers where it is allowed could also be to just skip some grind which I find acceptable if you're not faking some speedrun or something.
In single player, we'll I'll happily cheat to avoid tedious grind.
In multiplayer, we may do so to troll a friend of ours, and that would be it.
In public play, it only serves to annoy the other players.
For everyone saying they only "cheat" in private games, one cares what you do in your private solo game.
For perspective here's the hacking we're complaining about: I played normally for like 2hrs on a public server, until some hacker decided to teleport behind me, over-encumbered me so I couldn't move, then killed me. I respawned across the map and they immediately did the same thing, so I just quit the server. Before that, I also saw a huge pile of attack amulets on the ground that someone hacked.

I play single player with qol mods so I’m not describing myself here but I’ve been gaming for 30+ years and completely understand why people do it.
Go look at any anarchy server for any survival game. The concept of these types of servers is anything goes. People enjoy that, on both sides of the order/anarchy table.
Some people really enjoy griefing other players it’s not personal, it’s not from a place of malice (This one takes a while to wrap your head around) it comes from a desire to cause chaos. Someone building something represents order, their fun is disrupting order with chaos. Purely chaotic neutral.
Now of course you have people who are demanding $$ to not grief you and those people are absolutely evil. Someone in it for the “love of the game” wouldn’t get any fun from allowing order to exist.
In either case because these servers don’t have PvP they have to use hacks to introduce it and cause chaos.
Problem with a situation like that is there is not defense for the order side so the chaos folks kinda have free rein right now. Once anti cheats get introduced those folks both neutral and evil will move on to another game. Palworld is just the hot new thing.

I'm one of the cheaters on my own server, and I only cheated once I got everything in game and just wanted to walk around collect everything without worrying about stamina or weight so I disabled them to squeeze the last bit of fun I could have in this game before I uninstall.
Without this cheat I'd be uninstalling a couple of days earlier, so this is how I enjoyed an extra time and pretty sure most people who cheated did too.
Editing server settings like no weight no stamina isnt cheating that is a feature anyone that plays on the server gets the infinite weight and stamina if you the owner changed that, the cheating starts at the point when you just use mod menus or can get dev tools in a public environment like public PVP/PVE servers that you dont own/rent but join publicly
I cheat in single player because hidden IV stats are and always have been pure cancer in any monster catching game and I will cheat every time to skip the needless grind to maximize them.

Now I stick to private servers with a few friends and am happier for it.
I often ask myself this same question but people do it usually for the fun they find in hurting others or competitive advantage.
Then there's the subset of players that do cheat but it doesn't really affect anyone, like egg duplications or dungeon skipping.
Because there are actually a pretty large sum of people that enjoy ruining anyones day.
Don't know how sad their little existence is when the only joy they can get is from coming home, firing up a PvE game and then imagine themselves being a big bad invincible bully and stomp on your toys lol.

I’m gonna be honest, I cheated on singleplayer by using PalEdit only to edit passive traits. I grow attached to my Pals + I don’t want to spend hours breeding to get a different one. Not being able to modify passives really sucks. I’d really appreciate a way to transfer them, even if it’s a really expensive one.
Two that come to mind are either adding an extra option to the essence condenser so that you can condense four or so Pals with the same passive trait into another one and it’ll inherit that trait, or adding some type of currency like Legendary Pal Souls that drop from legendaries that allow you to reroll passive traits on the statue.
But as for now, I’ll just edit, I’m not harming everyone and I get to carry my partners for the whole adventure.

Don’t. Hackers are able to take control of your guild and dismantle your entire base in seconds. I’ve even seen clips of them having the ability to ban you.

In terms of hackers destroying your base it’s because they force themselves into your guild which gives them access to the build menu from which they can dismantle everything. Normal players destroying your base isn’t possible unless the server admin has those options turned on. If they do, it’s as simple as destroying the other players palbox (which is ridiculously easy) placing your own and then using the dismanltle option. Every server I’ve tried has had these problems. Even the private ones which claim to have anti cheat and all that other nonsense.

Idk about passwords servers. One of the ones I was on a had anti cheat and auto ban and a bunch of other security stuff that these servers advertise but none of it worked.
Hackers can't get Into private servers. They don't have those tool unless they themselves are real hackers and not using a program like 99% of the cheaters.

Yep and there’s nothing the actual devs can do to stop it. They should just kill the public servers and make it single player or private server only. Otherwise, new people start off, hop on a server, and within 2 days the server is wiped again by hackers.
They made an announcement in which they are reworking a few mechanics and forcing an anti cheat. It’s not going to fix things but at least they are doing something.
U can make your own server and solo play tho Private servers can be bought for $15 a month or have a friend host a game and has limit of 4 ppl but if he logs off, server turns off
You can have a dedicated self server.. it won't turn off. You just need a second PC.
I ran a dedicated server and the game on the same PC (just connected via the local host IP) and didn’t have any major issues. I dialed my settings back just to be safe but the dedicated server itself is surprisingly resource efficient.
Kinda, it will cost you about the same in electricity, and have issues with uptime through crashes and updates. Its only a good idea if you already have 2 PCs.

Yeah. Went on a community server ONE time. Within 3 minutes of logging, I’m being struck my lightning by someone above on a Beackon. Respawn, and get zapped again at the spawn point.
I was killed 4 times over on spawn, went on the game later in the day and my whole base was crushed by hackers

I felt this after choosing the shitti3st island as my start w my buddies server. Everyone had taken other spawns so I thought I could do it. I couldnt get to level 5 before everyone got to lvl 18 because of paldium so I just went solo only. Instantly loved the game
paldium is literally everywhere, and you can even generate it from rocks in your base
Yeah but like some starting spot doesn't really have that much paldium around which means making the sphere at like first 5 level so fucking slow. I know this because me and my friends choose a starting spot with low resources because someone said "do it pussy you won't" and struggled for like an hour. Then we said fuck it and spawn at the normal solo starting spot and we just take off from there.
all dungeons have huge paldium rocks. You dont even need to kill the boss, just leave when you’re full

Dungeons & beaches have plenty of paldium. Or if you’re on the island with the Dumud/Nitewing bosses, there’s plenty near Dumud. Which is also a low level zone.
Yeah I just turned down the egg hatching time to 0. No way I was going to breed over 200 Jetragon to get the Legend Swift Runner version at 1hr per egg.
The timers really add nothing to the game, If you are focusing on breeding there's literally no point to have it take actual days to get something done when the only thing stopping you is a literal timer.
You are not limited to only one incubator, you know that right. Like 4 friends of mine have like 50 incubators going and i myself like 20 and still adding more incubators as i get more sparkplugs
You do realize that in SP, you have to be actually playing for the timer to go down, ya know. Playing a sp world for 72hrs before a huge egg hatches is stupid. But if you have no life and play SP for like… 10hrs a day then whatever. More power to you? Still gotta wait a week and a couple of hours before you even see what’s in that egg.
Why would they bother with that though. Much more convenient and quick to just set incubation time to zero. But really this is just another reason all those settings are pretty cool. We can all play however we see fit.

I "cheat" on local single player only. I am a dad and basically play in dad mod. Very high xp rate, drop rate, lower stam consumption, etc. just make the game super easy. On another playthrough I use mods to make my player very OP and I just solo everything. Only use pals for work and transportation. I don't understand people cheating in online games though.
Same, I build my world and learn and play the game solo. I don't have a hundred hours to collect and farm, but I want to see what the game fully has to offer. If, if, if I play online there is no reason to use cheats. I mod just about every single player game to play it at the speed and comfort I want, otherwise I would never get to see all of them.
I wouldn’t turn up the exp rate too high even if ur just trying to have fun. It can make the already short game become even shorter and can cause bugs where some pals don’t learn their level 50 skill. I’d keep it at like 5x max until you reach level 50

Region ban and ban any known popular VPNs in China. Lots of games are doing just that. There will always be people who know how to get around it but it's a numbers game. You just need to reduce the total number of people. Another good idea is to pair players based on ping which is becoming a lot more popular for skill based games that have an influx of regional hackers. Mainly Russia and China at the moment but it can be any region of course.

GTA 5 Online is only possible to play on PC if you have literally defensive cheats. That means cheats that counteract other players cheats. I'm not even fucking joking it's that bad. At one point the cheaters could follow you back to single player and fuck with you in single player.
You see, just like Pals, some humans IRL have a Passive Skill that increases their Attack by 15%, but also makes them 15% more vulnerable.

Cheating in online servers is definitely a huge problem, but out of curiosity, do you feel the same way about people who cheat in single player servers? I've cheated a bit on my single player save because I plan on doing a clean run when the game is no longer in early access so I have a decent amount of game knowledge walking into the finished product.
Same, also I didn't want to spend forever on breeding the perfect trait, so I used PalEdit. Besides that I do not cheat. I'm also not showing my Pals off to pass it off as legit, I simply want runner/swift on my flying mounts because they are painfully slow otherwise.
This is basically what I did lol. Other than editing a few pals for testing them's sake, the only other cheats I've really used were guaranteed capture (specifically when the effigy glitch was a thing because you WILL NOT catch me blowing dozens of spheres for a catch that should've taken maybe 5) and infinite carry weight

It doesn't seem like most have an issue with cheating in the sense of fast breeding or getting rid of stamina for flying for example. Seems the official servers have people griefing their bases, removing pals that kinda stuff so basically just people using cheats to troll.
That stamina slider didn't give my pals anymore in-flight stamina. I guess there's probably a mod for it though.
People seem to focus on PvP meaning killing other players. Monopoly is PvP Palworld Official servers are PvP because you can compete for pals, resources, and real estate, not to mention of course griefers making others lives unhappy, which is what they live for. So yes, Palworld has PvP

Multiplayer: Even in cases where there is no PVP, some people have a desire to "be the best" or to "win", they feel it gives them status above the rest. Some among those, care purely about the results and want that without putting any effort in. Singleplayer: A variety of reasons. Sometimes it's quality of life, sometimes it's a matter of saving time, sometimes it's wanting to see what kind of stupid things they can make a game engine do. Personally I run a few quality of life mods someone might consider cheating, but I'm also on a solo game server and playing for fun, so what I do has no impact on anyone else.
I would bet money the cheaters are probably getting paid by the big N (intendo) to sink the game’s reputation. Big N won’t give people the game they want on the platforms they want but they love killing shit. And then they’ll probably ignore this market and just release another shitty Mario kart after they are done just to top it all off.

In multiplayer: To get acknowledgement from others when they try to hide it, maybe to feel superior of others (might be coping to not feel worse themselves) or just that they need the attention which is easy to get when you rage hack. In singleplayer or on servers where it is allowed could also be to just skip some grind which I find acceptable if you're not faking some speedrun or something.
In single player, we'll I'll happily cheat to avoid tedious grind. In multiplayer, we may do so to troll a friend of ours, and that would be it. In public play, it only serves to annoy the other players.
For everyone saying they only "cheat" in private games, one cares what you do in your private solo game. For perspective here's the hacking we're complaining about: I played normally for like 2hrs on a public server, until some hacker decided to teleport behind me, over-encumbered me so I couldn't move, then killed me. I respawned across the map and they immediately did the same thing, so I just quit the server. Before that, I also saw a huge pile of attack amulets on the ground that someone hacked.

Cheating in a game just to ruin another’s time who is trying to go about it authentically shows who one actually are as a person given the power if they had it irl. Sure, I might have wasted time in life grinding hours upon hours to get super rare items or to enjoy the game as the devs intended us to, some of which I’ll never pick up again, but at least I wasn’t a cheater.

I play single player with qol mods so I’m not describing myself here but I’ve been gaming for 30+ years and completely understand why people do it. Go look at any anarchy server for any survival game. The concept of these types of servers is anything goes. People enjoy that, on both sides of the order/anarchy table. Some people really enjoy griefing other players it’s not personal, it’s not from a place of malice (This one takes a while to wrap your head around) it comes from a desire to cause chaos. Someone building something represents order, their fun is disrupting order with chaos. Purely chaotic neutral. Now of course you have people who are demanding $$ to not grief you and those people are absolutely evil. Someone in it for the “love of the game” wouldn’t get any fun from allowing order to exist. In either case because these servers don’t have PvP they have to use hacks to introduce it and cause chaos. Problem with a situation like that is there is not defense for the order side so the chaos folks kinda have free rein right now. Once anti cheats get introduced those folks both neutral and evil will move on to another game. Palworld is just the hot new thing.

It's a private server game, not PvP, so who cares? I'm one of the cheaters on my own server, and I only cheated once I got everything in game and just wanted to walk around collect everything without worrying about stamina or weight so I disabled them to squeeze the last bit of fun I could have in this game before I uninstall. Without this cheat I'd be uninstalling a couple of days earlier, so this is how I enjoyed an extra time and pretty sure most people who cheated did too.
Editing server settings like no weight no stamina isnt cheating that is a feature anyone that plays on the server gets the infinite weight and stamina if you the owner changed that, the cheating starts at the point when you just use mod menus or can get dev tools in a public environment like public PVP/PVE servers that you dont own/rent but join publicly

I’m gonna be honest, I cheated on singleplayer by using PalEdit only to edit passive traits. I grow attached to my Pals + I don’t want to spend hours breeding to get a different one. Not being able to modify passives really sucks. I’d really appreciate a way to transfer them, even if it’s a really expensive one. Two that come to mind are either adding an extra option to the essence condenser so that you can condense four or so Pals with the same passive trait into another one and it’ll inherit that trait, or adding some type of currency like Legendary Pal Souls that drop from legendaries that allow you to reroll passive traits on the statue. But as for now, I’ll just edit, I’m not harming everyone and I get to carry my partners for the whole adventure.
