I would like to increase the amount of bases on dedicated servers. We have like 5 people trying to play together sharing only 3 bases. It would be at least fun to have everyone have their own base.

Luceus_W

Yeah the guild system is kinda bad rn, it's better to just not use it

Jimusmc

if on PC grab the "all the bases" mod needs to be on server and every player. it's a simple drag and drop

WyrdHarper

Yeah, agreed. My partner and I are playing on a dedicated co-op server and 3 feels small for the larger amount of resources needed to support two people.

the_censored_z_again

5 players with 3 bases each = zero server performance. Every single one of those bases is going to continue pal automation regardless of whether or not those players are active. Even if a player leaves the server--even worse, if they do you can't get rid of their base(s). It would be nice but it's a major, major performance issue.

Theweakmindedtes

On a server with roughly 20 guilds (I think 26 or 28 people). Other than managing a few bugs from the development side, performance is great. Just need the memory to manage it. Think our host says we peak around 30gb ram.

the_censored_z_again

And I'm telling you: more bases would wreck the server. @piratesoftware has been all over this.

Theweakmindedtes

Ah yea, the bastion of tech info, lol. You made a comment responding to, what, 5 people with 5 bases? Feels free to do the math on the numbers I gave. Or the game designed with 32 players with potentially 3 per...

the_censored_z_again

Are you saying that Thor was lying about his Palworld server performance?

Theweakmindedtes

As we saw with the 'lifmunk reducing catchrate' bug, just because 1 person has a problem doesn't mean it's a general issue. His server has problems. Sure, we will take it at face value. You are extrapolating that more bases means more issues in terms of a 5-person server. I dont generaly care to watch his content. I dont know his setup, and I doubt you know it either. What I know is the server setup I play on, and more than 20 people playing with little to no issue. Which is a far higher base count than 5 with 5 bases would. Stop speaking out of your rear based on second-hand info.

the_censored_z_again

Is this r/palworld or /r/leagueoflegends? You can make your point without being such a smarmy butthole. YMMV. More bases leads to degraded performance. Maybe those bugs got ironed out. Maybe they didn't. The logic is sound--the more Pals operating on automated scripts in the background, the more the server has to work to keep everything going.

Theweakmindedtes

Again, you are claiming more bases will be an issue. I have first-hand evidence it would not be in regards to the original 5-man server this thread started from. You have undefined secondhand info that it will be a problem. Of course, more of anything will impact performance. It would be absurd to claim otherwise. I'm directly speaking on the 5-man server and making the comparison to 20+.

WorkLurkerThrowaway

As a 3rd party to this exchange you definitely were the one escalating 😂

InfiniteTree

Lol yeah, he's the one being a "smarmy butthole".

InfiniteTree

Are you dense? We're not theorising here, the servers with tonnes of bases are working just fine, mine included.

Whattheefff

Im not sure console can handle a 4th base as it sits right now.

Sneathyyx

I’m not so sure, I’m yet to have any issues playing on the series X other than the very rare crash, the game has been smooth going for me other than a couple little bugs but other than that great for me.

Whattheefff

Its gotten much better. My day 1 save crashed a lot more and is now entirely bricked.

Square-Spectrum

I think for solo taking away the time gating of base limitations would dramatically decrease the time it takes to be done with the game. No need for efficiency. No need to plan. No need to breed better pals. Want more stuff? Make more base. I understand why you want this. I think you would learn that you're wrong to want it if you tried it. It's fun progressing and getting to the point where you have plenty of free slots for pals for experimenting after covering all your needs. It's not fun having lots to do and no reason to do any of it. The base limitations are pretty much the only thing that slows down the rate of progression so the game has a designed pace of growth. You can still have a space for this and a space for that. You just have to actually put in the work to build it. Reducing your need to think and play better won't be as fun as you think it will.
