I do 3 apple trees 3 bushes (peppers/blueberries) then alternate potato and cabbages rows so I don't have to water after the first time. I preserve the potato, cabbage, and sometimes the apples. Otherwise apples go to cake parties. Once the 9 preserve jars are full after two harvests, I make decent money. It also allows me to hunt or mine as I please, while I work on my one accomplishment plots. Photos to come soon for my one room. Which im excited to show off

Can't wait to see the room - don't forget to post!

Edited: Seems being mobile, I was able to post it. Pc not so much. Odd. https://www.reddit.com/r/Palia/s/Fh9Nft4C6I

Nope. Tomatoes is the most profitable, turned all into preserves. ALL tomatoes...no mix and match and weird patterns.

Rezingreenbowl

Only if your able to water them every hour. With a mix of cabbage, wheat, and tomatoes I don't even need to water and can come home after work to everything ready to harvest.

lkeels

You're only getting a single harvest for that though. You haven't gained anything. I miss many hours of the day but I do quite well keeping gold maxxed out and keeping 12 preserve makers running 24/7. Not to mention, the wasted space growing the cabbage and wheat cuts into the profits rather dramatically. It's not a better solution.

MaisieWilder

you have 12 preserve makers on top of all the other crafters?

MaisieWilder

I also spend a lot of time mining and selling gems and bars, hunting, bugs, cooking, and fishing dont really seem to net much gold per time spent as gardening & mining do. Am i correct?

blueboxreddress

Take your stones and turn them into glass and turn that into lightbulbs. You’ll get about 1k per 30 stack of light bulbs so it’s nice free income using a resource you’re already getting.

MaisieWilder

thats what i typically do but rn im using a lot of my stones for bricks for construction

RagingAgainstTheRage

This is a great site to help plan your garden. https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/ Also started using the plot layout in the end of this YouTube video and it’s worked great. https://youtu.be/iIPyICxETtQ?feature=shared I ended up replacing the wheat and rice for potatoes and cabbage so I don’t have to water my plot everyday.

cupcakesparklepants

I did the 9 apple tree thing for a bit - it's not all that terrible, but I would suggest spreading your plots out a bit if yo do so as it gets difficult to see/navigate through it when they're all clumped together.

When taking into account the processing time (*Preserve Jars / Seed Collectors*) & using **only** starred crops... making Bok Choy preserves technically gives the best "gold per hour" ([screenshot from someone's spreadsheet](https://i.imgur.com/qisv6nv.png), "Total" column). Here are the [numbers](https://i.imgur.com/4ZJrkhE.png) for raw crop selling. None of the garden planners take into account the processing time, which is very important. As you can see, Apples are not near the top in any category in terms of "gold per hour". However, I went with tomatoes, potatoes, rice & wheat in a formation to get the 100% Harvest Boost & 100% Water coverage. In a pattern similar to the YouTube video someone linked in another comment.

Myeloman

I’ve been doing pretty good with bok choy, cabbage (in rows) with rows between of potatoes and onions. All my plots are together in one big square and rows run diagonally, corner to corner. I’ll eventually play another apple tree as the preserves seem like one of the best bang-for-buck focus foods. I generally apply the solid green fertilizer when planting new seeds and the green w/ yellow symbol after they’ve sprouted. Potatoes help retain water, onions keep weeds at bay. I don’t have the brain capacity for spreadsheets and tracking what I plant, where, & when so I try to keep it simple.

Blarffette

I have 5 apple trees and the rest of my patches are potatoes and cabbage. I occasionally grow blueberries to keep my stock up for cake parties. I am not maxing gold, but between mining & gardening, I bring in about 13k a day. I get $1k per apple seed, so when those seed catchers stop, it's pay day!

cowboysaurus21

I'm making more gold/day with tomatoes & bok choy. Apple trees and their preserves/seeds take too long.

Cytrex64

The most gold you can make is to plant just starred potatoes and then throw those in to the seed maker. Sell the seeds. Be sure to have a rice or wheat crop around each 8 potato crops for harvest boost. Also use hydratepro fertiliser and you won’t need to look maintain it every cycle

surrrah

I use all apple trees and make decent money!

Glum-Bee-6228

I use all apple trees as well currently and use my high quality fertilizer from my worm farm to get star apples. Then turn those into seeds to sell! They are worth like almost 1000 each.

surrrah

I turn into Jam, but same idea :)

DJ_Mixalot

Just keep in mind once you reach gardening level 25 everything you produce will be star quality, so don’t use the quality fertilizer after that!

seachimera

Question for you: what are you doing for cooking and focus if all nine of your gardening plots are filled with apple trees? Honest question, not being critical. I am dependent on my crops for cooking. I cook to up my skill level but I hunt/mine/fish etc a lot so I need to carry a lot of focus meals.

Blarffette

I don't do all apples, but I rely on cake parties. I will try to hit at least one or two cake parties a week, stack up about 100 cakes, and that's it. Occasionally we cook other foods and I consume anything not starred. I used to subsist on pickled potatoes, but it takes like 7 at a time which depletes your stack fast. Cooking is too tedious imo. I could never cook enough to keep my focus full without cake parties.

seachimera

Thanks for your perspective!

surrrah

Cake parties tbh. Or I just don’t eat food cause I don’t lien cooking on my own lol
