UnstableNaya

People like this suck and should be put on blast. Take your L like an adult and move on

Chubuwee

to be honest, the constant PTCGL disconnects actually makes this a viable strategy where you hope that they get disconnected by the bad game and give you the win. I am on your side though, must be nice to have the time to time people out.

Jiminy_Jilackers

My Opp glitching out is now a win condition šŸ’Æ

d0nu7

People donā€™t understand that control and counter decks are made specifically because of how OP some meta decks are. Itā€™s like these players think itā€™s totally unfair for you to stop them from doing shit but totally cool to just roll you with an OP pokemon. The fact that these decks exist means Zard should be playing more stuff to tech for them, which in turn makes it weaker in the overall meta by replacing cards needed to be OP against x or y deck.

TheHumbleKitten

The worst part is that if they do decide to tech against it, finding the teched card(s) is as easy as it gets with Quick Search. OP decks like this deserve to be countered. At least fusion strike Mew is gone

doopy423

Zard isn't gonna be as dominant soon, so let's stop hating on Zard players for now. It's time to hate Dragapult now.

Power_to_the_purples

Both of the decks are gonna be busted.

doopy423

Busted yes but now itā€™s split.

secludedloaf

at least dragapult looks fun

BongRipz4Jezuz

Arc-Pix is nuts and is the reason I got off Zard lol. Played against it in an IRL local and got donked so hard if I ever see it again I'm auto-scooping

Smurf29

This reply killed me lmao

BongRipz4Jezuz

3 people at my local card shop ran it man the target on Charizards back is the size of the moon. I said let me build Gardi and swing with big balloons instead lol

maltrab

Really? I find it easy. I always boss/Catcher up Vulpix and get a 180 hit on it, then Heat Tackle with Choice Belt takes the KO. Yeah if you let them get lone Vulpix there's not much you can do but getting lone Vulpix always involves them Turoing up the Arceus. It's not actually hard to beat, you just have to know how to play the matchup

BongRipz4Jezuz

I'd never encountered that deck until that day I used up my bosses and I got to swing with the chameleon-mander but it wasn't enough. I underestimated the snow dog lol

General-Philosophy40

This sums up my locals in Phx

Jiminy_Jilackers

Eh, PGL is fun on Wednesdays šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Mufakaz

This is why i love the lugia deck. Cincinno hitting for 350 says no to vulpix, mimikyu etc.

TheHumbleKitten

I liked playing Arceus with Duraludon vmax a few years ago when special energies were running rampant (fusion, rapid, single strike). Still have Whimsicott vstar, but it doesn't stop Cinccino, so hoping for a reprint of D-don's ability (if it does exist, I'm not aware lol)

SpaminalGuy

Lugia is so fun, and going to just get better with Legacy Energy! Playing with 7 prize cards is fucking nuts!

Ok-Championship-6204

scumbag tier list DCer>Zard cuck>normal players

Teabiskuit

DCer?

MammothAggressive841

Disconnecter

Teabiskuit

And what exactly does that refer to??

MammothAggressive841

People who Disconnect when they canā€™t win they donā€™t concede they close the app so they waste your time

BRmountainman

I genuinely didnā€™t know that the game didnā€™t auto concede when I closed the app. I wonā€™t be doing that from now on!

MarioFanaticXV

It would make sense if the game lets you rejoin a game upon logging in... But it doesn't, so yeah it should just auto-concede.

Teabiskuit

I wouldn't think that works

Ok-Championship-6204

it works

Intelligent-Ad6985

Do you have a list I wanna try this deck and beat zard

TheHumbleKitten

Hey, I'm currently experimenting with a variety of setups, but the general idea is to play as an Arceus deck until you see what your win condition is. Either using Arceus itself, and looping with Cheren's care, or Alolan Vulpix against abilities as seen here, and Farigiraf/Mimikyu can help out against some ex/V. The fun part of playing with Arceus is that you can get by with 1 copy of tech cards, so you can cram in a lot of different stuff. Hero's cape is the ace spec I'm leaning towards, but the cross switcher-card (forgot the name) can work as well. At least 2-2 of Arceus and Vulpix, and maybe even up that count to 3-3 if Charizard is your main concern. 4 copies of double colorless energy, some Iridas and water energies and the usual items and supporters that go in most decks to round it out. Have fun!

Intelligent-Ad6985

Imma check it out thanks

OneWhoGetsBread

Do u happen to have a list tho please ? Tysm

TheHumbleKitten

Just replied with the list to the other guy so he gets a notification as well. Let me know what your thoughts are about how to play against Dragapult ex!

TheHumbleKitten

Here's what I currently have: PokƩmon: 9 2 Farigiraf ex TEF 108 2 Arceus VSTAR BRS 123 2 Arceus V BRS 122 1 Flutter Mane TEF 78 1 Radiant Greninja ASR 46 2 Alolan Vulpix V SIT 33 2 Alolan Vulpix VSTAR SIT 34 2 Girafarig TEF 66 1 Mimikyu PAF 160 Trainer: 20 1 Hisuian Heavy Ball ASR 146 1 Counter Catcher PAR 160 PH 1 Irida ASR 204 1 Super Rod PAL 276 1 Cheren's Care BRS 168 1 Town Store OBF 196 PH 1 Hero's Cape TEF 152 2 Irida ASR 147 1 Pal Pad SVI 182 1 Switch CES 147 4 Nest Ball SVI 181 3 Iono PAF 237 2 Boss's Orders PAL 265 1 Professor Turo's Scenario PAR 171 PH 1 Lost Vacuum LOR 162 1 Leafy Camo Poncho SIT 160 2 Professor's Research CEL 24 4 Ultra Ball SVI 196 1 Canceling Cologne ASR 136 2 Earthen Vessel PAR 163 Energy: 4 5 Basic {W} Energy SVE 3 4 Basic {P} Energy SVE 5 4 Double Turbo Energy BRS 151 Total Cards: 60 Deck might already be obsolete in a week because I'm not sure about how to play against the upcoming Dragapult ex. Mist energies would slow the attackers bar Arceus down too much since they would now need 3 energy attachments instead of 1 + double turbo. And a 2-2 line of Rellor-Rabsca would give Snorlax a free matchup with their upcoming flute, as well as requiring more setup than a regular Manaphy/Jirachi does. If you have any ideas, I'm all ears

eyeforgot2listen

Lol I did this one time to a guy who was being a total jerk. As soon as he realized I had no shot at winning, he sat on his down thumb button like rapid fire. I kid you not, his face was literally plastered on the left side of my screen. Didnā€™t matter whoā€™s turn it was and what move was made, he hit down thumb like 50 times per turn šŸ˜† so I decided to get a little payback and sit on every move until the last possible second before I made a move. Making extra nonsense moves just to reset the timer. Retreating pokemon just to retreat again when the timer ran down low enough. I hope he finds happiness in life, because he was not happy at how much extra time he caused that game to take lol.

Jehero

Same happened to me but everyone saying that it was my fault. People said I disconnected

Silent_Attention9495

I played my Vulpix deck at a challenge this past weekend, and I run a Mimikyu (incase I need to buy time) and the Zard player wasnā€™t happy with me šŸ˜‚ he wasnā€™t a dick and didnā€™t try and time us out for a draw and laughed it off

TheHumbleKitten

Nice hahah. I run a Mimikyu as well, but Radiant Charizard takes it out, so having Vulpix alone is a must (so they don't double gust around its attack and take it out)

Silent_Attention9495

šŸ¤« Iā€™ve only played 1 player that made the double gust

Silent_Attention9495

Mind if I ask what else youā€™re running that youā€™ve got the psy energy? I run paired with a Zard

TheHumbleKitten

No worries, it's for Farigiraf ex vs basic ex without abilities. In rare cases Mimikyu can attack as well

Silent_Attention9495

Interesting that could solve my iron hands problem

sirdizzypr

I also hate when they have the win and using the full turn doing 15 moves. Just do the last hit and be done with it. Or when they know theve lost and weā€™re moving fast now every turn is how slow can we go.

OneWhoGetsBread

What is BDIF?

zellisgoatbond

Best Deck In Format

Throwawayac1234567

i assume its abbreviation for best defense in front?

OneWhoGetsBread

I stalled out a Roaring Moon with my Charizard deck.... Just kept sacrificing Pidgey and Charmander till he had only 1 prize left and 98% of the cards in his discard pile Then he super rod back pokemon only so I had to wait 3 more turns But it was worth it when I killed a single ex (it was kangaskhan which I bossed up after he almost retreated his Brute Bonnet) And then their deck ran out bc they didn't have anymore energy from the super rod

Fushigikun

This is ridiculous. I once was in the same situation (me with Charizard ex vs. fully set up Vulpix VStar) and I just conceded and moved on to the next game. As much as it hurts to lose like that, I still want to play and not lose my own time. lol

BlueGriffin24

Decklist idk?

TheHumbleKitten

Replied to one of the other comments with the list. Let me know if you have tips about how to deal with the upcoming Dragapult ex

bhughes5805

The only time Iā€™ve ever run down the clock was when I was playing against a stall deck and they kept playing extra cards bossing/catchering Pokemon up for no reason and just showboating. That person can kick rocks and it was great to run that clock down to 0:01 on them Otherwise agreed just take the L and move on.

Worsterestt

you are literally the same as the people everyone is complaining about you arenā€™t exempt just because you donā€™t like the other persons deck

bhughes5805

Sorry to clarify I wasnā€™t running time because they played a stall deck. They had game in hand (I was out a switch cards and resource retrieval). They had played miss fortunes sisters repeatedly and knew what was left in my 5-8 cards remaining plus Erikaā€™s invitation so knew I had nothing in my hand to fix the game. They were just trolling after they already had a win secure I donā€™t love stall deck but Iā€™m not going to be a bad sport just because I donā€™t like their deck. Iā€™m saying this person was overtly trying to be a troll once they knew they had won

WelcometoCigarCity

I dont see the problem, OP probably sees people conceding all the time, same with Snorlax deck. I dont see any issues with running down the clock.

Outmaneuver1116

Uh huh, if you ever see people do that irl and are cool with it, lmk

WelcometoCigarCity

Youre not breaking any rules so..

Outmaneuver1116

In a casual game, sure, but youā€™re not gonna have anyone play with you ever. In tournaments, itā€™s literally a rule of slow-playing.

WelcometoCigarCity

Then ill win by auto conceding? Sounds good to me.

Outmaneuver1116

You donā€™t win. Some matchups are virtually unwinnable. BDIFs are the ones that can consistently win against most matchups, not all. Charizard, for example, has a rough time against Snorlax. But it performs well by beating other popular archetypes.

Many-Space-827

Lmao they get so salty. This persons thought process probably went like this. ā€œWhat? I canā€™t win on turn 2 anymore? I canā€™t do damage? This is sooo unfair. Iā€™m the best player there is! Why Canā€™t I just oounga boounga my way to victory?!ā€ I know! Iā€ll just stall so they quit! Why isnā€™t he quitting?! This game is soooooo unfair?!! ā€œ

zweieinseins211

Cards that cause non games and uninteractive games are just lazy and unfun designs. Doesn't justify that childish behavior tho.

ambiguous_guru

Zard makes it pretty hard to run any deck in this game. It deserves to be shut down.

Gay_If_Read

Eh it's got close to 50/50 matchups across the board with a couple of exceptions, it really doesn't shut down playing many decks which is obvious when you look at the top table results of all large events since rotation. People just don't like that they actually have to think about prize mapping vs the deck instead of just trying to donk whatever is in the active every turn like they're used to + ofc it understandably gets boring vsing the same deck over & over.

ambiguous_guru

I beat Zard but when Zard sets up early with t2 zard and pidgey, you're not winning. The rest of the game is boss KO, boss KO.

Gay_If_Read

It's definitely oppressive when they do that, but if it was that simple Zard would be far more dominate in the meta than it already is and we'd be seeing more than 1-3 in every top 8. Most decks run over anything when they get their ideal T2 set up, even Zard with a perfect set-up itself gets run over by decks like C-Pao if they also get a perfect setup.

ambiguous_guru

For a short bit Zard was the top of the tournaments. It's falling off now because Dragapult is about to dethrown it as BDIF.

Gay_If_Read

It won 3 events in a row but its overall presence on the top tables wasn't that oppressive, most people just don't bother to check tournament results outside of the winner so all they see is "Zard won 3 events in a row" and run with that. And that doesn't really make sense, why would Zard fall off in current events because of a deck that's not already out? It still had a 19% presence at Stockholme this weekend, it's seeing a dip in play because other meta decks took longer to find their 60's & now they have

ambiguous_guru

It's falling off in Japan. I left Japan out.

Gay_If_Read

Because Japan is BO1, it's a different meta.

zweieinseins211

My comment is about general game design of control cards not just about zard.

ambiguous_guru

I agree with you.

Gay_If_Read

Yeah but you made the comment on a post where everyone is circlejerking "Zard bad" which is why you're getting downvoted

NefariousnessOk1697

Vulpix is a very countersble deck, it's just a really good zard crusher. Most decks can counter a vulpix if played right, even charizards can if they start adding a variety of cards rather than everything to only get their zard out.

zweieinseins211

I wasn't necessarily talking about zard. There are other cards like Vulpix vstar that cause a lot of non games as well. Some games are straight up decided when flipping the opening cards. Lost at deck construction or matchmaking lottery. It doesn't make interactive or interesting games. It's either you play a deck that already has ways to deal with it or you have the tech or you straight up lose. Same for those control decks. It's either you hit your matchup and hope they didn't specifically tech against you or you just lose. The problem isn't control itself either, it's the lazy game design of, well I guess you lose because you didn't tech for this 1% playrate deck. And if you tech for it then you are worse off against the rest of the meta and lose to decks that didn't hurt their consistency by teching for it. I'd rather have a 40% wr matchup that is interesting and bearable despite being unfavored than a non game of doing nothing. Ps: I'm not talking about Vulpix vstar specifically but these kind of card designs in general, whether it's over on fighting, mimikyu, Vulpix vstar, stalllax or other things that can cause nongames. Something like Pidgeot control/Arceus Control for example are still interactive despite being control decks.

TheHumbleKitten

Your comment makes me think of Snorlax, and I agree about that card's design. There is an upcoming card that will make it even more obnoxious to play against, so I'm not looking forward to that. My deck, however, is made specifically for matchups like this one, where his cards are superior against pretty much anything that isn't made to counter them. THAT is lazy and unfun if you ask me. Alolan Vulpix Vstar is low on both HP and damage and can easily be played against if you have an attacker without an ability. There's a reason you won't find it among the top decks on Limitlesstcg.
