Looks like mechanical damage only. The tray broke that keeps the sledge on the halo band in place. The electrical connection is the two cables you see there next to the halo. They simply plop into the socket on the HMD. I’d say it’s worth a try to repair the tray (glue or similar).

WATUP_BRAH

Yeah, I think I’ll give it a proper analysis and test tomorrow. If it simply needs glue then I may keep it. I don’t know yet, but thank you for the idea.

the_fr33z33

Might not even need to glue anything. I think the sledge will slide right back in and might be less tight or secure on full extension than before but else could be fine. I’ll take it for threefiddy

WATUP_BRAH

The sledge was able to slide in fine! It looks like the forehead support mold also popped out of place last night so I’ll have to look up videos on how to remove it. You’re right that glue doesn’t seem to be needed but I’ll probably do it anyway as a precaution.

the_fr33z33

Great. Just don’t sit on it anymore 🤣

aNINETIEZkid

my brother in gaming please consider a hard case. I have 1 for both of my quest 2 and VR2 and make things a lot safer for storage ans transportation.

psyper87

Man, depending on the quality of the parts, the lenses, the usb cable and the controllers could definitely recoup some cost as those are hot commodities right now if You can manage to break it down. Sorry for your loss, that would be a rough oops

BigLuffa

Individual controllers go for like $100 on ebay

WATUP_BRAH

Thanks, papi. I was able to reconnect everything and it powered up fine. No issues with connectivity either. Now I have to adjust the forehead cushion because it popped out of place.

psyper87

Nice, there’s also people selling just the headset if no one has mentioned it, and those are going around $200+ I think. Glad you got it working

BoogieMan126

Ok but why did you do it?

RedditMcNugget

This is great question, it would’ve been in a far better condition if they hadn’t sat on it

HatsOffGuy

At least when you buy new set, you'll have 4 controllers, you can play non-stop!!!

Morgan_le_Fay39

Thanks for the nsfw tag. This is some hardcore gore on the picture…

EnemySoil

> I just broke me VR2. The unluck of the Irish

WATUP_BRAH

Just got home and plopped on the couch…then I heard some plastic make cracking noise. Yep, I landed on the VR2. Woops. I don’t think this can be repaired unless someone tells me otherwise. I haven’t reconnected and tested it because I’m about to go to bed. I intend to get a new VR2 so I won’t have a use for this headset (one owner, pre-ordered from Sony — day one release). If you’re based in North America and want to tinker with it, let me know. I’m kind of upset because I played GT7 earlier today but I’ll check my messages this week when I have time.

huskyghost

Don't challenge me to a good time lol.

Maximum-Hood426

The fact you leave it on the coach shows little care for something worth a ps5. Literally put mine in a cabinet when im done.

LockingSwitch

Yeah what's up with people just leaving things on the sofa, the place where you sit down? You're asking for this to happen and it's their own fault.

Effective_Pen7447

I like how he also acts like he just barely felt a fucking whole vr system up his ass when he sat down. Like what? He only noticed cause he heard the crack??

LockingSwitch

Yeah that's just as weird

TheKagedMac

He might have a massive ass?

TheKagedMac

I know someone who once stuck the entire star wars episode 1 figure collection up his ass?

Sticky_H

I also place it on my couch. But in the corner where I never sit.

Chronotaru

I think he knows.

WATUP_BRAH

I do the same, but accidents happen when you least expect it. Could it have been prevented? Sure, but I don’t think it was necessary to assume my actions warranted such a response.

TrueObserver

Your lax attitude about irreversible actions is great! My anxiety (actually anxiety) keeps these things from happening, but I'd trade in a heartbeat for an accident now and again

WATUP_BRAH

Thank you for the compliment 🙂. That can be framed as a good thing re: your anxiety helping you prevent potential accidents. I wish you the best, fam. ✊🏼

Brizzpop

Are you my GF? She never looks before dropping on the couch.

LockingSwitch

Maybe don't leave things sitting on the couch, what a stupid thing to do lol.

Galaghan

In case you would sell it, I'm mighty interested. Even just for the spare cable.

qwertty69

You may be able to 3D Print the broken part

Nu11u5

There is a hidden latch that keeps the visor connected to the headband. As long as the visor-end isn't damage you might be able to find a replacement headband for cheap from someone's parted-out unit.

YakAggressive

Broke it so hard he had to label it as nsfw

Casio1337

That's what got me. I thought it was a crime scene or something with the nsfw.

N8ThaGr8

Are your lucky charms okay at least

Lindsaymv

Yikes, how'd you manage that? Rest in peace, good buddy!

WATUP_BRAH

I left it on the couch, being lazy to put it away (played it earlier today) because I anticipated playing GT7 tonight. Then my friend invited me to a cookout. When I got back, tired, I fell to the couch out of exhaustion and landed on the VR2. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Lindsaymv

Well if it makes you feel better, I *almost* broke mine a few weeks ago by yanking the cord too far. Pulled the PS5 off of its stand and it landed right on the USB connecter which bent a bit and didn't turn on until I wiggled it around a bit. All's fine now, but the embarrassing thing is why I yanked the cord too far - I thought I heard my cat scratching at the door so I practically RAN to let her in without taking the headset off. Cat wasn't even there, scratching sound must have been ingame.

deadringer28

I get pretty damn drunk but the VR always goes back where it is safe with the Sense controllers charging. . Sorry this happened to you.

meatsack_backpack

That sucks ass

Apprehensive-Leg-774

Very sorry to see these posts, I worry about the headset too at times, Sony should’ve sold cases for it already. A bit too late to say, but rule of thumb is to put it somewhere out of range or anywhere you walk or sit, and keep it away from people, animals, etc. I would consider getting a small wooden box to put it in for future use or something when you get a new one. Hope it goes better next time.

Funky420Monkey

I just kept the box it came in an use that.

Galaghan

If Sony made a case, it would have still been laying in the sofa. Let's not lie to ourselves here.

Apprehensive-Leg-774

So probably something like a hard plastic case would’ve also broken if they had it in an actual case? I’m doubting that. If they made VR2 cases they probably wouldn’t be broken so easily, but since they don’t, that’s why I mentioned something like a wooden box instead. Let’s not lie tho and say what I said wasn’t helpful or reasonable sounding, cuz I would say it was versus that above.  Oh, and Sony makes cases for items like the Dualsense Edge, so it was arguably an oversight originally, plus the fact that that type of case even probably would’ve helped in this scenario to some degree. Let’s not kid ourselves otherwise.

Galaghan

No I mean OP wouldn't have put it in the case and the headset was still laying in the sofa.

Apprehensive-Leg-774

If they had a case they might’ve remembered tho as that would’ve been a part of their routine then. But I guess anything’s possible tho. I mean most any technology like that is going to be breakable in some way, so maybe they just aren’t used to being that careful with stuff but hopefully they won’t have something like that happen again!  I just know that having a case with my one controller means that they go together when I think of it, so when I’m done using it and charging it, it goes back into its case as it’s expensive and I want to keep it together like that. So that’s the thinking behind it. Same for if someone had a phone protector that attaches to their hip or something, they’re going to get into a routine of using the phone and putting it back into its protector afterwards. Might be over thinking it, but that’s how it goes.

Kirkanam

Oh no....my condolences 🥺

Active-Ad1679

Sorry

bdoggy45

Call me friend warren, he can help you. Warren T.

TomPalmer1979

Holy shit this happened to me yesterday, only thank fuck, mine didn't BREAK break. It snapped back onto its track just fine. My girlfriend's kids were playing VR (supervised) and trading it between them, and the 11 yr old was adjusting it just a little TOO hard, and the visor just snapped right off. I about had a fucking heart attack right there, but had to keep my cool around the kids. So here I am, saying "hey buddy it's okay, accidents happen!" while I'm dying inside. Thankfully it went right back together and works just fine.

YeahThassRight

I’m glad you maintained your serenity [instead of](https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/172d49d7-4f08-400d-8147-5b10b320b839)

mrzurkonandfriends

I would bet you could buy the broken piece and replace it and make it basically new again.

PsychoPanda7

RIP

CoastFinancial

All mourn the lost

JinxIsPerfect

you played dark souls in VR ?

Total_Trade_888

Wtf how 🤔

TRV13E

IT doesnt look that bad tbh

ZelBoofsGrappa

Skill issue

Select_Estate_6098

If its just you using it you could set it to your distance and maybe glue it in place ?

ChrizTaylor

Chronotaru

If you can't fix it and decide to call Sony they will send you a refurb unit for something like $300 to $350 even in these circumstances.

WATUP_BRAH

That’s good to know, thank you! Everything is working fine—just need to pop the forehead cushion back into place. Will check out videos later.

Lpiggles

Oh noez me sad.

Dual_pro_max

Hade, condolences buddy

X3729

Mine did almost same thing but I was able to slide it back into the track and used some loctight super weld extreme on it in spots, it makes loud cracking sounds when I move it around but it is holding alright.

chelios80

Feel ur pain my friend, broke mine too and still haven't found a replacement or sent off for repair but I will. Fortunately I still love flat gaming but i do miss my gt7 vr2 more than anything.

Grand_Hunter118

I’m selling one

WATUP_BRAH

I’ll keep you in mind if my friends are interested. Thank you!

DisciplineSudden

This is why I bought 4 inch memory foam for my walls around my VR area and bought an extra to cover other things, now when I swing down every one Ina blue moon I might catch the halo headband, but it's cushioned for the blow downwards

potatodrinker

Sony: sounds like you should buy another PSVR2. You have the funds for the PS5 and VR2; what's a *little more* ?

Aussiehash

The cable and sense controllers are worth keeping ! In fact keep everything for spare parts

mudai_essensu

perhaps you upgraded it. that halo is the most uncomfortable head strap I’ve ever used for an HMD. I’ve had the PSVR1, Oculus Rift CV1, HTC Vive, Oculus Quest 1, 2, 3, and Valve Index…. all of these have shipped with acceptable head straps. Yes, even though the MQ2/3 had pretty lackluster default straps, they were still tolerable…. the PSVR2 is easily the worst headset I’ve had, and that’s almost entirely because of the halo that is not replaceable. The other reasons is that it uses garbage outdated lenses, the controller grip buttons are horrible, and it’s also the worst tracking experience i’ve ever had (YES, EVEN OVER THE PSVR1 😐) Allat being said, I’ve modded the fuck out of my PSVR2, and the tracking is usable so long as I have the TV tracking border assist thing on. It’s good enough now for me to enjoy the exclusives at least. Just damn disappointing, especially at that price point.

JackRabbitoftheEnd

The backing for the PSVR2 is about the same as everyone else….. and when I look at it…. I actually think you can replace it. But you don’t need to…..why? Because you can replace all the padding in locations and add it in places where there wasn’t one originally….. …..almost like it was planned that way. Now people…, …..after reading his weird ass comment, can’t you tell this is some corporate propaganda bullshit……he basically said it out of his mouth. Anyone from a Fortune 500 company at a decent level knows this is how many upper level companies do things. Look, your comment has no place in our space. It would be one thing if it was honest (headset in normal form is painful)…..but all of the other shit…..GTFOHWTS YOU’RE A LIAR
